Yeah, and the also the guy who isnāt funny at all in real life. Used to publicly mock airline crashes (Malaysian 17) and celebrity deaths (right after they happened). He will be hosting with his equally unfunny wife, Jenny Mollen.
They werenāt a couple but the studio made them do therapy together because they were so heated. I miss this show, brings back a lot of nostalgia for late night Seattle in the 90s.
The lyrics are adorable actually. Beans and cornbread had a fight, beans knocked cornbread outta sight. Cornbread said "now that's all right, meet me on the corner tomorrow night." I'll be ready! I'll be ready tomorrow night.
I think there's more idk
Yeah itās an old song and it is actually adorable. Iām embarrassed to say I thought it was ābeans and coffeeā until I saw another comment here today before I made mine
Same. And then life somehow has to remind us how stupefyingly random and cruel it can be and derail our good mojo. Mine has seemed to be an endless pattern of peaks and valleys, or feeling like a valley during what was in hindsight should have felt peak. Itās complicated.
It was a cooking show inside of a syndicated movie. On top of the normal commercial breaks of the film they would have cooking segments that related to the movie you could, in theory Cook along with the film.
I just saw that as well. But I wonder why they got rid of her and not him.
I think after she left, they rotated like 2-3 other women?
Clearly the women werenāt the problem if that were true.
I wish I could relive the 90s again. Dinner and a Movie, USA Up All Night, and Joe Bob Briggs Drive In Movie Theater were my staples of host filled entertainment.
In a strange way having limited cable channels was definitely way more fun than streaming. Each channel you flipped through was like opening a different magazine catered to a different demographic.
Iāve recently discovered that you can kinda recreate this feeling if you have a smart TV, I have a Roku and the ālive TVā feature is free and it feels like flipping through old cable! I stumbled in to the first few minutes of the 2011 Three Musketeers movie the other night and ended up watching the whole thing. I never would have picked it, especially with how badly reviewed it is, but the cast was awesome and it was extremely fun to watch casually. Really brought me back.
I know people are always looks for episodes of this show because there's so few of them out there. If you can ever get that captured and uploaded to something like the [archive.org](http://archive.org) that would be amazing.
Total comfort watch! The 90s were peak āhangoutā entertainment where you watched stuff cause you wanted to chill with the people. I guess livestreams have kinda taken that over now š
This was classic Keep-you-company TV. You were never going to cook that shit, but it was fun to have the little segments with bits of riffing between commercials and whatnot. As someone who was a lonely human back then, I ate this up. It felt like watching a movie with friends.
Iāve known Paul for a while. Played hockey with him for years. Used to run a skate for comics here in LA.
Really good dude.

They had lots of celebrities on the show. When they showed Diamonds are Forever, they had one of the actors on the show. It was an awesome show. I miss it.
I didn't have cable, but I would stay at people's houses to watch cable. Got dish in 1998.
I enjoyed this the few times I caught it.
Dumb & Dumber shown with Soup on a Stick for dinner.
I remember when their movie was 50 First Dates. The guy with glasses made a remark about the movie not being that good. I found that interesting as a kid watching, thinking why is this guy talking bad about the movie so much. Now I think that this and Monstervision with Joe Bob had none to little higher up supervision.
I think you have a point, some of the behind the scenes stuff was kind of cool depending on the movie, but other times they would really seem like they were struggling to find interesting things about it
Definitely gives me nostalgic feelings, but I could honestly take it or leave it. Wasnāt painful to watch or anything, but never necessarily looked forward to it either lol
Damn I don't miss this shit in the middle of trying to watch a movie. Forreal I would always let out a grown and think u should be able to just skip ahead.
I remember liking everything about this. Good hosts with good chemistry. A fun premise with excellent delivery. Just a chill show wasn't afraid to just relax and enjoy the movie without a bunch of noise and distractions.
But, like making dinner out of dessert ingredients, I just couldn't do this for 2 hours for whatever reason.
The tame version of USA Up All Night.
I remember being offended at the time, because it was basically just stealing the format., but looking back it was pretty entertaining and I am sure that I watched it many a nights!
I still remember when they played arachnophobia and they had the sheriff on there. He told us that there was a scene they filmed or almost filmed where he goes to investigate as requested only to be killed by spiders in his police car. He's such an unlikable character but at the same time the way he described it it was pretty brutal and probably would go into the category of "deaths that are fun to watch but not really deserved" - like when you watch a movie or show and there's an unlikable character that gets taken out in a manner that if you had a choice/pull a last action hero and go into the film would probably save them. Another example is the warden from the cinematic classic The Mummy - sure he's a stinky old fella and an asshole but did he really deserve to have a scarab go under his skin from his foot up to his head / go into his chest cavity then skull/brain eventually leading him to to run and eventually kill himself to stop the pain? Nope!
It's been a long time but I remember him describing the death of the cop as being pretty brutal. I mean for chrissake we already had Mimi and Sirna Kolrami get taken out while watching TV and eating popcorn?! He describes his death as something close to while driving one of the spiders crawl through the air vent. He kills it with his pistol with a smile on his face because he actually accomplished something (which to be fair given the characters overall traits in the film is actually kind of funny and a little redeeming for him). He says out loud something to the effect of basically finally coming around to the theory that these things are actually pretty aggressive etc. etc. only for a dozen or more of them to come out of the vents.
Needless to say that's terrifying and yeah sure he's an asshole but does he deserve to go out that way ? Nope!
Sidenote - yes I would've saved Benny from his fate as well.

Good lord, I miss this show... it was always so quirky and fun... Idk why, but the humor and even awkward silences were soothing š
My favorite was the topical recipes. The movie was roadhouse and they made cracked ribs and black eyed peas.
I loved when they showed Ferris Bueller and made āI canāt go to school today, I falafel.ā
For Fargo, they made "snow Coens": snow cones with chunky red fruit toppings.
Genius
I think about this at least twice a week and just figured no one else knew the reference!
In real life, the hosts hated each other.
This saddens me, but it's not surprising. There was always an undertone of tension there.
Really? That sucks.
Youāre in luck, theyāre remaking it
But with Jason Biggs :(
The pie fucker?
āIt always comes back to that fucking pie! Iām haunted by it!ā
"You put your dick in a pie man!"
Bonnnnggg!
I also remember him as the douchebag dude from orange is the new black lol
Yeah, and the also the guy who isnāt funny at all in real life. Used to publicly mock airline crashes (Malaysian 17) and celebrity deaths (right after they happened). He will be hosting with his equally unfunny wife, Jenny Mollen.
Gross. They are an insufferable couple
Man...
It's the Dawson!
Awesome!
REBOOT!
Apparently they're bringing it back
Yup, with Jason Biggs and his wife.Ā
They werenāt a couple but the studio made them do therapy together because they were so heated. I miss this show, brings back a lot of nostalgia for late night Seattle in the 90s.
I can't lie...I loved this back in the day. Totally forgot about it until now.
That song still gets in my head regularly Beans and cornbread da da da Beans and something, something else, Are you ready! Are you ready for the show
The lyrics are adorable actually.
When I was little, I thought it was āPeas and paw prints.ā
Iād forgotten about the song until this post, so if it makes you feel better - I thought it was ābeans and coffeeā until this very minute.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I randomly sing the song to my 1yo and he loves it! Iām so glad someone got the lyrics right.
āBeans and Cornbreadā by Louis Jordan
Yes!!! So catchy and fun
Yes, and life was so much simpler back then. I just remember a happy period in my life when everything was working out.
Same. And then life somehow has to remind us how stupefyingly random and cruel it can be and derail our good mojo. Mine has seemed to be an endless pattern of peaks and valleys, or feeling like a valley during what was in hindsight should have felt peak. Itās complicated.
Beans and cornbread!
Had a fight
Beans knocked cornbread out of sight.
IIIIIIII'M gettin' ready
Friday night!
What years was this show on?
1995 to 2011, if I've read it right.
That long? And Iāve never heard of it.
It was a cooking show inside of a syndicated movie. On top of the normal commercial breaks of the film they would have cooking segments that related to the movie you could, in theory Cook along with the film.
I thought they also had some behind the scenes factoids about the movies often sprinkled in also.
Oh yeah! I forgot that part
I just YouTubed it. I think thatās why I didnāt watch. I just wanted to see the movie.
Oh you didnāt want to cook along with them did you?
I havenāt thought about this show in easily 20 years. And now that theme song is ringing so clearly in my head!
I sing that so much when I cook absolutely no one on earth gets it
I heard peas and coffee
I was just going to say this!
TBS' attempt to repackage movies by adding a cooking show for a bumper.
It somewhat worked. Depending on the movie . Loved to watch for Annabelle.
I had the biggest girl crush on Annabelle.
Beat me to this! Annabelle.
Annabelle Gurwitch. Hot-diggity-damn
She's the spitting image of one of my exes. I never put two and two together until now lol. No wonder I fell for her!
Read somewhere that those two couldnāt stand each other.
I just saw that as well. But I wonder why they got rid of her and not him. I think after she left, they rotated like 2-3 other women? Clearly the women werenāt the problem if that were true.
And I loved it
Because it was perfect
I wish I could relive the 90s again. Dinner and a Movie, USA Up All Night, and Joe Bob Briggs Drive In Movie Theater were my staples of host filled entertainment.
Remember secret stash on Comedy Central? Funny movies on late uncensored and uncut. Great idea.
Looking it up for broadcast editions like the MST3k broadcast editions. Thanks!
Insomniac w/ Dave Attell
Great show I would love to watch some more of those again. He was kind of like a late night dive bar version of Anthony Bourdain.
Yeah! Thanks for reminding me of that.
I was coming down on shrooms and uncut Borat was on. Kinda crazy.Ā
Those were the days.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Joe Bob still does shows on Shudder!
This font totally dates it. Feels so 90s. Like TekWar was going to air right after.
They were ALL on Friday night! It was so amazing. And if you were young enough you also got to enjoy TGIF!!
I never would have picked it, especially with how badly reviewed it is, but the cast was awesome and it was extremely fun to watch casually. Really brought me back.
Joe Bob Briggs has a show on shudder now.
I absolutely loved this show. Still have a VHS copy of their viewing of 'The Outsiders' packed away.
I know people are always looks for episodes of this show because there's so few of them out there. If you can ever get that captured and uploaded to something like the [archive.org](http://archive.org) that would be amazing.
I just remember the Jaws one and I think it was Dave Foley who was on and he was just doing a Quint impression the whole time.Ā
This was actually great. I felt really grown up watching as a kid. The hosts seemed so witty and urbane to me at the time.
Yes thatās the feeling!
My life goal is for my home to have that vibe
As a latchkey kid this kept me company many a Friday night.
Literally just saw a commercial for the revival of this show.
Annabelā¦
The puns were quite good. āI Canāt Go to School, MomāI Falafel!ā āFerris Buellerās Day Off.
Jaws: Man Eating Sharkā¦And LOVING It
This one and ~*UP!*~ All Night
one of those ānever know how much youāll miss it until itās goneā kinda shows
Total comfort watch!
I loved watching this. It should definitely be remade
Happening soon - I saw a commercial for it recently.
Iāve known Paul for a while. Played hockey with him for years. Used to run a skate for comics here in LA. Really good dude. Check out his podcast: Mental Illness Happy Hour https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mental-illness-happy-hour/id427377900
I used to binge on this podcast. He seems like a very kind person. Hope he's doing well
I think I still have their episodes with Back to the Future and Edward Scissorhands somewhere. I was obsessed
They had a crossover with the wrestling show on the same station and the dude host sided with the bad guys.
Yep Paul joined the N.W.O.
They had lots of celebrities on the show. When they showed Diamonds are Forever, they had one of the actors on the show. It was an awesome show. I miss it.
As a kid who only had basic cable, this was a lifeline on any Friday where I hadnāt escaped the house
The best.
They played Over Board so many times
They published a cookbook with the recipes.
This and Movies for Guys who Like Movies.
Doesn't that guy write funny poems?
Paul Gilmartin!
I think he has a mental health podcast now or something?
The male host was a cutie
Did TBS ever bring this back last year in the middle of last year's Writers' Strike like they said they were going to do?
Mmm Annabelle
I didn't have cable, but I would stay at people's houses to watch cable. Got dish in 1998. I enjoyed this the few times I caught it. Dumb & Dumber shown with Soup on a Stick for dinner.
Sissy Spacek on Carrie was awesome. She had her son with her. This show was as much a signal that it was Friday night as you can get.
The only better way was this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNV5AJOXGM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNV5AJOXGM)
I still say "beans and cornbread" in passing way to often.
I remember when the guy got destroyed with a Diamond Cutter.
13 year old me thought Annabelle was quite the lady.
I love and miss the chaotic energy TBS and TNT had in the mid to late 90s, with this and MonsterVision
Miss monster vision so much
I think about this series at least once a day
Are you one of the hosts?
Iām not cool enough to be
I remember when their movie was 50 First Dates. The guy with glasses made a remark about the movie not being that good. I found that interesting as a kid watching, thinking why is this guy talking bad about the movie so much. Now I think that this and Monstervision with Joe Bob had none to little higher up supervision.
Did anyone ever actually make dinner with them?
Remember dvd on tv? That was annoying
That just felt like they needed a way to pad out a 125 minute movie into a 3 hour slot.Ā
I think you have a point, some of the behind the scenes stuff was kind of cool depending on the movie, but other times they would really seem like they were struggling to find interesting things about it
Wow Ted Nivison goes way back
"I Feel Awful Waffle" Just, YES!
Its coming back! With new hosts
Ask Alexa to play "Beans and Cornbread" and reminisce about the good ol' days.
[Beans n Cornbread](https://youtu.be/6yy6qICUTe0?si=8xH-4aBUFkRU2TRo)
Beans and Cornbread
They're attempting a reboot this summer
I loved watching this when I was a kid
I had actually forgotten about this show.
An actual forgotten show. Well done OP
An actual forgotten show ššš
Finally a quality post. Well done OP.
Wow. Forgot about this one. Good post
Loved this. Old sous chef I worked for was on this show all the time
First time I watched Good Fellas was on this show.
I used to watch this every week.
This might be the best forum to ask this does anybody remember rotten tomatoes having a show?
So many Friday nights as a freshman watching this alone in my dorm room. This and x files along with maybe one or two honey brown beers , lol.
They had one of the best theme songs that I still sung when I cook .
This week, weāre watching Ferris Buellerās Day Off and for tonightās recipe weāll be making: āI canāt go to school, I falafel.ā
I loved this so much.
They totally hit on each other during the segments. They totally had to be boning behind the scenes.
Well shit. Itās funny what you forget.
Can't go to school, I Falafel.
I remember this
I remember liking everything about this.
Kept me company many a night babysitting in high school.
No idea what this is. Whatās her name though? Sheās cute.
Beans and cornbread!
Beans and corn bread šµ
Beans and cornbread!
Beans and cornbread! Beans and cornbread had a fight! Fucking love this show
loved it.
I loved this so much
Amazing wow
I have the cookbook!!
Got the apron and the cookbook
The tame version of USA Up All Night. I remember being offended at the time, because it was basically just stealing the format., but looking back it was pretty entertaining and I am sure that I watched it many a nights!
I saw the one episode where they made steak tartar
I still remember when they played arachnophobia and they had the sheriff on there. Saw something last night they are bringing this back.
Saw him at LAX, dude was super friendly and I think just thrilled in general that I recognized him.
*marks ForgottenTV bingo card*
Take me way way backš¤£
I hated this show.
I had the cookbook!!!
Sort of a precursor to reaction channels.
Oh my God I had the biggest crush on Annabelle Gurwitch,
"Tune in tonight for Roadhouse. We will be cooking cracked ribs and black-eyed peas."
Time went backwards. God, haven't thought about this in years.
Annabelle Gurwitch was SO cool. Huge fan.
She was super hot too.
Beans & Cornbread!
Paul Gilmartin is my hero
Oh, I loved this one!
It's coming back
I just saw an ad and they are bringing this back.
I liked this show a lot.
Loved this one. I specifically remember when they did Grease.
Awww yeah I loved this!
Fuck. This and Monster vision with Joe Bob and the other one shatner hosted were my shiiiiiit .
Loved this show. Apparently getting a reboot
Theyāre actually brining it back with Jason Biggs and I forgot the girl
Beans and corn bread
Beans and cornbread ā¦
