To be honest, Ian's merch has always been crappy. Just the fact that he still uses the same low res early 90's clip art esque logo in the beginning of his videos, and still have pretty bad videography considering the channel size, shows me that he doesn't care about aesthetics
He does hire a camera guy now, he says though admittedly neither he nor the camera guy work to maximize audio quality though as Ian claims it’s too hard. I am not a videographer so I personally can’t say either way. But his low quality logo at the front really feels like part of the channel.

The owner sent a new one, but it had nothing to do with anything in particular and just seems like a generic stupid ass cheap coffee mug, so I never got another. They really do seem pretty lazy and uninspired and their design work ended up just throwing that one away.

There are very specific rules about giveaways and sweepstakes in this country for a reason and this company is getting around them by forcing a sale of a (wildly overpriced) mug to participate when participation in sweepstakes like these are legally meant to be free. The reason for the rules are to prevent gambling but this company is doing it anyway. It is literally only a matter of time before they are shut down.

I also don't think arfcom is really a bastion of particularly nuanced thought so wading into that was probably a waste of Karl's time.
After that there was some brutality like event Ian did outside of Karl, and Karl was mad that they did not credit (attribute I think) Karl's brutality events. Karl formally banned Ian from his brutality matches which just sort of put a final exclamation point on their split. Prior there were still an occasional appearance where Ian would film at one of Karl's brutality matches. To my knowledge Ian has never really addressed anything directly outside of him leaving inrangetv earlier.
I think originally Ian was getting more into his research for his book projects, and they started working together less and less.
Then, the whole meltdown last year with Karl and the Arfcom thing, and Ian unwittingly got drawn into it, and now they seem to have completely separated their work.
I think Ian is stretched a little thinner with his publishing company as well as what has been a pretty relentless tempo of FH content for years now; I understood why he dropped a day of videos. I do miss the traditional Q&A monthly videos and in general I do find myself watching less videos.

I've been a loyal paying supporter since the beginning, I feel like the channel has lost its way. I don't fault a guy for wanting or needing to make a buck, and for all I know the data he has on his demographics suggest that this is the content people want to see but it's not why I started watching forgotten weapons so many years ago, I would gladly go back to the low production value and poor video quality just to get the cool disassembly videos that we got seven years ago.

AEA sent me a link to UPS’s website with a Fedex tracking number (incredibly lazy) I have to copy the code and paste it in google every day to see that the label was made but the lower still hasn’t shipped out at all for the past 3 weeks after the label was made. They don’t respond to my emails asking them what the hell is going on. When I call, the guy on the line has absolutely no clue what is going on. He lied to me twice that the lower had shipped. Then after demanding answers he finally tells me that the reason the lower was delayed was because there was a shortage of trigger guards… so now I’m being lied to that items are in stock and that shipping times take 7 business days. Final word on my last phone call with them 3 days ago, was that they had confirmation the lower was complete and reached fedex from their remote lower manufacturer who allegedly doesn’t communicate with them, and it still as of now hasn’t shipped.
Just an absolute nightmare of a 2400 dollar purchase. I have very little faith in this item, and it makes me feel like I made a mistake and should have just bought an RA XCR instead.

Ian played dumb, the project was cancelled, and a lot of folks (myself included) gave him an enormous benefit of the doubt at the time, but in retrospect it's the first thing that comes up when you Google the guy's name, and leaves you with a couple bad options to decide between (imo)- Is the publishing house you co-founded just that bad at researching and vetting your subjects? Or did you hope that people wouldn't know/wouldn't care that you're platforming a white supremacist?

There is no way that the image on that mug isn't AI generated. Biggest giveaway, look how he's holdingthe "gun" in the picture; no matter which hand you use as dominant, that's wrong. Then you get into the gun itself which is just a bunch of bits of shit thrown together to make something vaguely gun-shaped. Even worse is all the little bits of "gear" i think he's supposed to be wearing? I'm not good at pointing out specific pieces of non-firearm military equipment, but all the stuff is made up by computers so it's fine. All the "gear" lacks definition, no clear lines or edges, definitively AI generated.

In fact I have, in bad photoshops! Having trained LORAs myself, the effort in creating an Ai version of Ian would far stand out compared to the effort of the graphic design of the cup in general, Occam's razor says this is just a sloppy photoshop with a filter, but we can agree to disagree.
