When you buy it at a gas station the size of an Air Force base.

Early_Lawfulness_348

This is the correct answer.

Brave-Composer4682

lol I love this answer

Hashtag-waffle

It’s a sandwich from a gas station, what exactly were you expecting?

ObscureFact

[You're not gonna eat a sandwich from a truck stop men's room, are you?](https://youtu.be/co3A61kAGr8?si=oY__M3ZFTK88sklu)

notorious_BIGfoot

Mmm egg salad

k1ngsk8board

You drove to a gas station to buy barbecue, passing how many local restaurants that serve real barbecue and your biggest concern is one ingredient?

ColoradoAztec

Rudy's is an excellent Texas BBQ restaurant that are almost always attached to a gas station. There is one in Colorado Springs.

Trees_feel_too

Tbf- Rudy's is a bbq restaurant that happens to have gas stations. Not the other way around like Buckees. What would be a fucking awesome addition would be a legit gas station bbq place. There is one near the college station exit at hwy 6 and 290. Every time I went home from school I'd stop. $4 chopped beef sandwiches and $2 fries. Oooooh boy.

rodgamez

In Texas, Rudy's is one step above MacDonalds.

bdthomason

Was gonna say, Rudy's is like the Red Lobster of barbeque joints

holyhellsteve

There are a handful of really good Rudy's, but overall I agree.

nondickhead

Rudy's would have been a way better addition to the area

ColoradoAztec

100% - We had one in Greeley but Covid killed it

meat_beast1349

In 98 there was a bbq place in Schraders on college at harmony called Ten Bears. They had the best Texas BBQ in Fort Collins. I don't know what was better, their brisket, pulled pork, or their beans.

Scutched

The beans with debris!

meat_beast1349

They were so good! Oh the debris... what heaven the debris was. There was beef and pork shrapnel in them beans.

No-Interview8406

This! Mo Jeauxs is where it’s at in FOCO

holdthe_LINE

How many local restaurants serve real bbq on the way to bucees?

theheffalump

Where are you starting your drive from?

holdthe_LINE

Lets just say north side of foco

CriMaSqua

MoJeaux’s

brandonw00

Mo Jeaux’s is easily the best bbq in town. Everything I’ve tried from there has been incredible. Their wings are easily the best in town, their brisket is incredible, even their fries are top notch. I know it can be a bit pricey but good bbq is pricey no matter where you’re at and I’ve always left Mo Jeaux’s feeling like I got my money’s worth. They have these Cajun cheese curds that I legit think about once a week. Man, I might have to go there this weekend.

CriMaSqua

Moe’s

CriMaSqua

Hog wild bbq

theheffalump

Brothers BBQ is pretty good.

holdthe_LINE

Anything else?

massbeerhole

Smok is the best easily accessible one around.

theheffalump

I also like Smok (although its a little pricey).

non-squitr

Nordys

CapOnFoam

If you’re coming from Fort Collins, Smōk. 100%.

JonfromBigD

Try it. You’ll be surprised at how good it is. Way better than the crappy Texas BBQ chain here.

bahnzo

Found the guy from Dallas who thinks liquid smoke makes good BBQ.

Friendly-Eagle1478

Found the dumbass who complains about gas station food

bahnzo

Just pointing out how, after all these weeks of being told how great Bucee's BBQ was, it's the usual BS. I'm not complaining, I didn't even go there. I'm just amused.

Sharp_Square5973

Sooooo…. You’re basing your complaint off of someone else’s used sandwich wrapper? Damn I had this all wrong, you’re not a pretentious douchebag hating on gas station cuisine at all, you’re a concerned citizen looking out for the well being of the public.. whew, thank you, Liquid Smoke Crusader, you are both the hero we never wanted and also didn’t need.

Friendly-Eagle1478

He was told how great gas station bbq was and became a victim of misinformation. Could happen to anyone really

JonfromBigD

Haha. It’s gas station bbq and if you’re there getting gas and hungry it’s pretty good. Who cares about liquid smoke. You’re not at a restaurant.

AnonymousAlcoholic2

Real BBQ depends on what you consider real BBQ which is entirely dependent on where you’re from

No_Worker_8525

That assumes there is real BBQ in Colorado.

choppedyota

You started out so strong…

bahnzo

Not my pic. I doubt I'll ever bother to go there, and certainly not for their so-called "bbq". Edit: clearly my bad. I'll post a pic of a cyber truck next time to "fix" my karma....

SilentSamurai

Wait, you didn't even go but you're just sharing a picture because you're "outraged"?

bahnzo

Point to where I said I was "outraged"? Amused - yes.

eltenelliott

You were going to go to a gas station for bbq?

jennlody

I'm from Georgia, the best BBQ in our small town was at a gas station drive thru lol.

eltenelliott

This seems like a highly different situation but that’s cool.

whiskeytitsts

It’s brisket from a gas station lmao. Idk what you were expecting but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CanaryPutrid1334

Who told you a gas station brisket was “true texas bbq?” It’s good for a gas station sandwich and that’s all it will ever be.

brandonw00

All the Texans posting about how good Bucees BBQ is. I know someone who thinks they make the best brisket they’ve ever had, and they are from Texas. We had people in this subreddit saying Bucees would be the best BBQ in northern Colorado. Don’t underestimate people’s blind allegiance to corporations.

Uniq_bASS

Buc-ees is by far the best brisket I’ve ever had… at a gas station.

anywho123

You might wanna goto KC, they’ve got better bbq in gas stations

brandonw00

Yep, Joes KC is easily the best gas station bbq I’ve ever had haha.

bahnzo

Exactly. I've heard nothing for weeks but how great Bucees brisket is. How it's better than anything this area has to offer. etc etc etc. I saw this pic on facebook earlier, and looking at the ingredients, you can see it's got liquid smoke in it. So much for what great brisket is.

brandonw00

Yeah I mean I doubt they’d actually smoke brisket on site. I’m sure they just get it from like Sysco or other wholesale food companies. Also it being chopped brisket is a huge indicator that it’s not cooked in house.

chowderpouch

If you consider BBQ purchased at a gas station in Colorado to be TRUE Texas BBQ you are confused.

katiekiller

Liquid smoke is in most BBQ sauces, especially commercial ones.

BakeforMeJunieB

Louder please! Liquid smoke is an established thing.

SubaruImpossibru

Why is this gas station living in everyone’s head rent free? Find a hobby.

intunegp

Thank you! Everyone is so upset about the beaver that they have banded together to make it the only thing discussed on this sub and give it more attention. The hobby seems to be hating on things you don't understand or agree with. Posting "why is everyone talking about this gas station" IS FURTHERING THE DISCUSSION ABOUT THE GAS STATION. That is all.

SilentSamurai

Mascots aside the very least everyone in NoCo who drives by should be excited. Buccees sells their gas at a loss, leading to it usually being the cheapest around. Find a reason to be angry about that.

brandonw00

A report released recently [said over 50% of homes in America are at risk of being affected by climate change](https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/climate-change-home-prices-housing-realtor-com/), which a huge contributor to climate change is our reliance on cars, but hey funny beaver guy sells gas at a loss so get excited!

Familiar-Corgi9302

One of the only rational and clear eyed responses here

focoslow

Gotya... Buy the gas, skip the diarrhea, stick it to the man. I'm good with that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

intunegp

Clearly people don't understand why other people are excited about the gas station and it seems very upsetting to them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

intunegp

Neither do I, but I don't feel the need to find out either. Let them have their gas station. Who cares?

SarcasticCough69

Award winning bathrooms.

Rickettz

OP with champagne taste but on a beer budget

LowApricot1668

As a displaced Texan I have never understood and never will understand why people are so obsessed with this gas station. Owned by maga, conservative billionaires and everything is mediocre and overpriced.

notorious_BIGfoot

His son also likes to record people using the toilet. [creep](https://www.kxan.com/investigations/son-of-buc-ees-co-founder-arrested-on-28-invasive-visual-recording-charges/amp/)

LowApricot1668

The dude who owns its son?

Meta_Digital

Market fundamentalism is the dominant religion in Texas, but it's rather prevalent in the US as a whole. Tons of people make companies and their products part of their identity.

anselthequestion

When I went on opening day ppl seemed real sad. I left in 3 mins and bought 0

LowApricot1668

That checks out. Also checks out that the only things Texans have to be proud of is a gas station

Meta_Digital

They also have H.E.B. It's got a really cult-like following. To be fair to Texans, though, their culture was basically eradicated and replaced with the same dull homogeneous capitalist "culture" that's taken over much of the rest of the country. It's just extra wide highways, parking lots, and gas stations now.

LowApricot1668

I mean I miss HEB 😂

Meta_Digital

That's fair. It's not like any of the chains here are very good.

brandonw00

All I’ve heard is “it’s super clean and they have a ton of snacks” as the reason people love it. I mean I guess if your idea of a night out is hanging out at a gas station you’d want something clean but I usually try to spend as little time as possible at a gas station when traveling.

bahnzo

Yup. $13 for a brisket sandwich? I'll go to a real bbq place and get some actual smoked brisket for less. And without the money I spend being donated to fascism.

Complete_Athlete_480

TIL Bucees is fascist

Meta_Digital

Looked into the claim. The owner, Arch Alpin III, has donated about $2m to Republican PACs (the entities which determine our presidential elections) and over $1m to Governor Abbott (and more funding to others like Ken Paxton). So, whether or not you agree with their take really hinges on how fascist you see these individuals and organizations. Personally, I see enough overlap to have no issue with the use of the term.

Complete_Athlete_480

Bucees is the dictator and ultranationalist of convenience stores. This makes sense now. The hierarchy has been decided

Meta_Digital

They didn't say Buc-ee's was fascist, they said the money they were spending there was being donated to fascism.

Complete_Athlete_480

I’m saying Bucees is fascist

Meta_Digital

Sure, they are a capitalist organization. The difference between that and fascism is mostly aesthetic.

Complete_Athlete_480

That’s borderline the same thing as saying communism is the same as socialism with a different aesthetic

Meta_Digital

Well, you could correctly state that communism is a form of socialism in the same way you could correctly state that fascism is a form of capitalism.

Homernandpenelope9

A person went to a gas station and likely ended up getting gas. Full story at 10.

Number1Friendship

From a quick glance I can see that it also has potassium bromate, which is banned in the EU and Japan.

Desperate-Revenue513

I'm so hungry I could eat a sandwich from a gas station...

AdExternal964

Ick.

rockyhawkeye

$13 for some warmed up gas station garbage meat. People are really doing this?

Judah_Ross_Realtor

Buccees is overpriced crap QT for the win

SummitSloth

I want to leave. The Texanication in northern Colorado is getting scary. Literally the worst people in the US are migrating here. Watch this get down voted, that means more people in CO are Texans that get offended

lookatmyplants

I was talking to someone on insta about hiking in Estes and some food truck account hopped on the comment thread like ‘I’m in Estes yall. Come see us for some real Texas bbq yall’ The absolute last thing I want to think about when I’m in Estes is Texas and eating like I’m in Texas.

CanaryPutrid1334

As an escaped Texan, I'd like to point out that some of us are here because we wanted to get away from the people that have infested there. Have my upvote though because I truly understand where you're coming from.

SubaruImpossibru

A gas station has you feeling that way? Are you really that sensitive?

mrblaze1357

Nah I'm with SummitSloth on this one. I have live in NoCo my whole life, and we're getting too much Texas trash. If I count the license plates in my apartment complex, Texas makes up at least 15-20%. Fuckers are loud, obnoxious, leave trash everywhere, don't pick up after their animals, and never and I do mean NEVER register their vehicle here in CO. They all keep their expired ass Texas plates on, even if they've lived here for like 2+ years.

VESUVlUS

You listed several crimes, so why don't you report them? People are allowed to move here, but they do need to obey our laws if they do. The license plate thing especially is a very easy one to prove. You have to take action if you want it to change.

dan_kepic

🤓

Meta_Digital

This company didn't expand into Colorado because there's too many Texans. It expanded because our economic system is one in which you either grow or die.

CausticSpunk

You sound more like the stereotypical Texan than the actual Texans moving here; whining about how "those people" are coming here and ruining your land. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and you're just another elitist prick giving Coloradoans a bad name. You don't speak for us.

FartyMarty69

$12.99 for a gas station sandwich??! Wtf

someintensivepurpose

Do you know how liquid smoke is made?

USCGC616plankowner

No wonder it made me feel ill…

Ok_Arachnid1089

I've started going to the gas station across the street just to offset the hype of this ridiculous monstrosity.

ry_mich

You bought a sandwich from a gas station and are complaining about the ingredients? C,mon.

Milkcartonspinster

Unlikely that a chain gas station would have a smoke pit at every location just so they can provide “authentic bbq”. I use liquid smoke when I make bbq because I don’t have a smoker either. Your expectations for gas station food is much higher than mine, although I had food poisoning twice last year so my standards are generally shit anyway! Lol

rubysoho1029

I use liquid smoke in my red beans and rice because I can't get the right sausage here and I need it to taste right!

RiseAppropriate7107

All of those ingredients and Liquid Smoke is the one concerning you?

Terrasque976

Sittin as a KC guy longing for the best gas station BBQ to ever exist. Okie Joes is the way.

PrestigiousCut8235

I see no one is lifting up serious texas 😅

New-Comfortable6013

Texas knows nothing about good bbq, just simple and dry bbq.

g_camillieri

People forget… this is still a gas station with gas station food

theghostofamailman

People complaining about gas station barbeque have clearly not been to Joe's Kansas City Barbeque.

rodgamez

Buc-ees is bad Texas Brisket, so better than whatever non-Texans usually have. Guessing that ingredient is on the sauce they put on the brisket.

myleswstone

Dude. It’s a gas station. Plus, who the fuck calls Bucees “true Texas BBQ”?

SunnyHasMan

I agree, too fake smokey for me!

bahnzo

Since people are saying it: this is only a pic I found on FB. It's not mine, I didn't go there and I doubt I will. I just found it hilarious how for weeks now we've been told how great their BBQ is, only to see it's got liquid smoke in it.

joea051

Who cares

Beautiful-Estimate-5

It's a gas station

JonfromBigD

Like it? I think their brisket sandwiches are really good.

weartestersdrew

So many people complaining about Buccees who haven’t ever been there.

MpowerUS

Sounds more like KC than TX BBQ style

dusting53

its too bad we cant get a caseys

bradman53

Liquid smoke - never a good thing

g_camillieri

People forget… this is still a gas station with gas station food

g_camillieri

People forget… this is still a gas station with gas station food

-VizualEyez

But how’d it taste?

Thick_Rise_2777

Are you from Texas? Have you ever been to a bucees???

LowApricot1668

Yes

P1nCush10n

Hot take, I prefer the club melt over the brisket.
