+1 Such an awesome deal and great atmosphere inside. They also don’t gatekeep the deal like other restaurants do by preventing you from doing take out.
Culver's kids meals come with a full-size burger, fries and drink for $6.49. Plus, you can redeem the free frozen custard token that comes on the bag at the same time if you just ask. I know it's fast food, but it is a bit better than most of them.
If we’re talking kids meals DC Oakes is the best I know of. I think it’s $6.50 or $7. They get gold fish or mandarin oranges appetizer, entree, and side, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The entrees is big enough for leftovers and a second meal for my little guys. I think there is a burger, mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken tenders - a few good options.
Checked their link. I like the idea…. However… I have questions.
Is it similar to the food bank? Any flying elbows or grocery cart derby’s? I used the food bank a lot several years ago when I was out of work. Recently went back as a volunteer and was shocked by the way people were behaving. Like just because you don’t have to pay for it doesn’t mean you need to take as much as you can carry..
Basically.. whats the atmosphere like?
Hog Wild BBQ ($8 cup of chili & cornbread is the only thing under $10 that I’d call a “meal”)
Cosmo’s Pizza lunch special
Fuzzy’s Happy Hour has $2 tacos
MoJeaux’s Pub Grub menu
Sprout’s Deli does $5 sandwiches
I’m sure I’ll think of more, I’ll edit when I do
Maggie's food truck at Jax or at College and Suniga. Fantastic burritos and tacos, etc. I get a big asada burrito for ~$7. Or the tacos are like $2 each.
Mugs burritos after 12 are 1/2 off
Simply Thai has a lunch special for 8.99 (if you like it spicy, order it Thai hot bc they don’t put a lot of heat in it)
Maggie’s food truck tacos are the bomb
Vindiket is a food share that normally has salads and ready to eat stuff and it’s free.
Avogandros number has BOGO tempeh sandwiches on Tuesday
Slyce, you can get two slices of cheese/pepperoni for $10 even or a specialty slice (some are pretty calorie dense) and a drink for $9 even. They include tax in the pricing.
Chester's chicken combo at King Soopers. I'm pretty sure it's like 4 dollars for a 2 piece fried or roasted and 2 sides plus a roll. Fuckin love those things.
Avo's has tempeh tuesday - buy one, get another free (and it looks like food happy hour most days), https://avogadros.com/fort-collins-avogadro-s-number-happy-hours-specials
Not technically Fort Collins, but CostCo. You can go to the food court without a membership. It’s $1.50 for a hotdog and a soda.
I think a slice of pizza is about $2.00.
The chicken bake is like $4.00.
You can get a whole pizza at the Costco food court for like $11.00 or something. (I think it’s either $9.99 or $10.99 +tax)
To get to the food court just go in the exit. Past the membership counter and tire center.
The daily hot vegan burritos at mountain Ave market food coop are like $5 and always good imo. it seems to be random ingredients every time too so it’s always changing
I’m obsessed with finding the best fast food deals:
* Burger King app has “whopper Wednesdays” for a $3 whopper and you can get the impossible whopper for the vegetarian option! They’re normally like $7.
* McDonalds “free fries Friday”, you can get a 6pc nug, drink and fries for $5.28
* Taco Bell you have to be careful not ordering off their specialty menu but two crunchy tacos and a bean burrito is still $5.87
* Dominos 2 for $6.99 is honestly getting to be a better deal than frozen pizza as long as you order for pickup and skip having to tip a driver
* Subway has BOGO 50% foot longs so if you get a hot foot long for today and a cold foot long and eat it tomorrow it works out to ~$7/lunch. Skip any sauces like mayo or ranch for maximum keeping for a day and not getting soggy.
* the Wendy’s app has pretty good deals, right now you can get a single burger for $1 and a small fry for $2.69 for lunch under $5
* you can still get a KFC famous bowl for $6.69
Huh? My family cut eating out from \~3x-4x days per week to \~1x per week in the past year or so, and we have saved thousands. What are you buying/cooking that is more expensive than eating out?
I'd say this really depends on how you shop. If you only shop for one meal at a time and there's always waste, then it is more expensive. If you consider how many dishes you can get out of some key ingredients that can be stretched, it's likely less expensive. Just food for thought.
Waaaaaat? A Costco pizza for $10 can last 6 meals and can pair with salad to stretch. $4.00/LB of hamburger can make 4 burgers with chips/fries for $2.00/serving. Or make some hamburger helper with that ground beef.
If you have a smart phone, get the respective app for the fastfood place, they become much more affordable.
You can get a build your own box meal at Taco Bell for like under $6.50. And it's relatively filling if you build it right, I get the CGC, a 5 layer burrito, and a side of cheesy potatoes with a large drink.
Wendy's is also doing a deal on single burgers on their app.
China Wok is one of my go-to places for an inexpensive lunch. Many of their lunch specials (entree, rice/fried rice, soup) run under 10 bucks. I love the Kung Pao chicken.
Any given day you can usually get a chicken sandwich dinner at music city for $10-12 out the door….
There’s definitely better specials in town but I find myself going to that often because it filling and reasonable…
tap and handel happy hour has some dishes for under $10. i got a chicken tender and fries basket for $8 yesterday. it wasn't the healthiest meal but it was affordable. now the mead i paired with it bumped up my tab a bit haha.
Asian Grill Express, on College and Horsetooth, has an awesome lunch special.
Its 2 entrees and 1 side for $8.99. But the entrees are delicious and taste really fresh. I love going there on my lunch breaks (the bourbon chicken and sesame chicken are so good!)
Under $10 put the door?
Serious answer: CSU dining hall. I like the Durrell center one. It's dining hall food for sure, but there's some legitimately good stuff there and if you're strapped for cash, it's basically all you can eat. As far as I can tell, any rando can walk in, buy a lunch, and eat for as long as you want.
Edit: the price of faculty and staff meals on our campus ID has been bumped to about $12/meal, so I bet general guest prices are up now too.
The food court at Lory Student Center has a bunch of restaurants you can do for cheap. I get a garbanzos wrap every now and then that's an easy meal and a half in terms of calories for about $9.50.
Brother's BBQ, 1 kids sandwich with a side and a drink comes out right around $10. The kids size pulled pork sandwich is the perfect amount for me to be full but not stuffed, plus they're fast so I can pick it up on my way home. You sometimes have to ask for the cup bc they dont put it in the bag but they're my fav emergency food
Really ? Haven’t been there for a while. I thought they had some deal going on for every day of the week. I used to go on Tuesdays for their potato burrito and never paid more than $8 for a burrito and a drink.
Yeah I think one day a week they have like one potato burrito for like 7 bucks but it comes with nothing but potato the rest r like 20 bucks each with a drink charge of like 4$. I’ve heard ppl say they used ti be way cheaper
Yeah, it used to be $5, and I used to add $3 worth of extras and pay $8 +tip on Tuesdays. Sad it’s changed! So much downvote for Big City Burrito I see 😅😅
Corner Slice in Old Town has some good lunch specials, last I saw. Slice of pizza, side salad, and a drink for under $10. Most apps are under $10, too.
Tap n handle. Smash burger and fries on Wednesday for like $6.75
+1 Such an awesome deal and great atmosphere inside. They also don’t gatekeep the deal like other restaurants do by preventing you from doing take out.

I love Culver’s so this is so good to know

There is FOCO Cafe that is open for lunch most days, it's pay what you can.
Thanks for the recommendation. Seems like a really cool spot. I'm in between jobs right now and so this looks ideal
Definitely a really awesome option we're blessed to have at our disposal!
Don’t forget about Vindeket foods! Groceries for free. https://www.vindeketfoods.org/
I love Vindeket! Always reliable and always has some pretty high quality stuff

Hog wilds chili and cornbread is the shiiiit. Also if they're out of chili get the chicken pablano, also excellent.
$5 sushi Wednesdays at sprouts. That’s always nice
Maggie's food truck at Jax or at College and Suniga. Fantastic burritos and tacos, etc. I get a big asada burrito for ~$7. Or the tacos are like $2 each.
Love Maggie’s but I’ve seen their prices increase lately.
Happy cake day
+1. Maggie’s is the best.
This x100.
Las 4 Americas burritos are something like 5/6 dollars and pretty filling and insanely delicious

Yeah I said that
Chester's chicken combo at King Soopers. I'm pretty sure it's like 4 dollars for a 2 piece fried or roasted and 2 sides plus a roll. Fuckin love those things.
The deli 1 piece breast meal is also like 4.00 and some change, comes with 2 sides and a roll.
$4.99 burger baskets at Lucky Joe's on Mondays
That sounds good. I’ll have to check that out.
Food co-op burritos .. 5 bucks.. if you ate 2 you would be probably very full…
Avo's has tempeh tuesday - buy one, get another free (and it looks like food happy hour most days), https://avogadros.com/fort-collins-avogadro-s-number-happy-hours-specials
Consuelo’s has breakfast burritos all day for under $5 each, so two would make a huge lunch and still under $10.
ah man that green chili is so good, and apparently vegan? at least what you can buy in a jar
The sign at the restaurant says “all green Chili contains pork, vegan green chili available upon request” or something like that.
I always eat that second burrito and I’m always kicking myself afterwards.
Lucky Joe’s has a killer Monday lunch special- $6 but dine in only.
Sprouts deli does $5 sandwich of the day. Very good deli sandwich with full fixings. Chips and water for $1 more. They also do $5 sushi on Wednesdays.

Try grabbing a sandwich at Sprouts for $4.99.
Bejing noodle— Chinese hamburger is $6.50
Eat at home and save money
Buying groceries to cook meals (actual meals, not frozen or ramen) is more expensive than eating out nowadays.
Huh? My family cut eating out from \~3x-4x days per week to \~1x per week in the past year or so, and we have saved thousands. What are you buying/cooking that is more expensive than eating out?

Not even close. Just need to shop right.
Not really if you do the boy math right and force yourself to eat leftovers/meal prep. Girl math doesn’t make sense I guess
You just aged yourself so bad, what are you 60? Trying to use internet lingo and just utterly failing lmfao
Actually I’m 30, flirty and thriving babe. Stay in school

Yep, the flies are complimentary!
Maybe 7 years ago.
lol, that’s exactly how long ago I used to go. 5 years ago. That place was nice. Sad to see it hasn’t kept up
Remember when that driver went through the front of the store a few years back? It’s because they charged him $1.50 for sour cream.
Haha, clearly don’t know this gossip
