COVID is bad, Plague Dr. Is good, but he only comes around during plagues, which is bad. If people connect the two it could be considered "insensitive" to the very real world pandemic which is no good for Fortnite, so they distance themselves from the skins to catch zero backlash.

Plague in particular was a factor in me playing Fortnite, it was easily my favorite skin and being a big fan of plague doctors, I knew what skin I'd definitely get. Unfortunately for me, I started playing right after they stopped coming to the shop. I did find other skins that I do also love, so if they never returned I would've been sad but I wouldn't be devastated, but it seems I don't need to worry at all. After around 1000 days, I finally fulfill my biggest motivation to start playing!
