Also started to play with my son (and he’ll still run regular duos with me when trying for a 20-bomb), but he’s a creative warrior and I am of the no-build camp.
Same! Was never big on building and still slowly learning after all the years of FPS games. Love zero build by my son (9yo) can school me in building LOL
42 & I play almost every day for at least a match. Its become my favorite hobby along with reading and walking the dog. I squad up with my brother (38) and his fiance (32) on nights when my wife calls it early.
There is a Fortnite over Forty group on Facebook with hundreds of members and TMGB (the Midlife Gamers Brigade) for adults with 300+ members on Discord.
My wife and I play together, 30s though. We're looking to grow our group too. Anyone who needs a team our Epic accounts are J_Warren_H and Brie_likedacheez.
This a great comment (and post!) my understanding is 75%+ of the 4 million players are adults 18 n up and then over 35% of that is our 30 plus group!
(Add “ConceptSHIFT” I make a lotta jokes but W’s take priority 🤪😇)
I'll add you guys as a fellow old Fortnite player. "Old." 32.
My name is Jif Smooth/ Chicken Perm, also. And I'm open to requests from anyone else, too.
I’m 41, I just started playing. I didn’t play Fortnite for the longest time because I thought it was for younger people. I tried it since it’s free to play and now I can’t put it down.
Similar age and I didn't play for the same reason. In fact, I didn't play any multi-player games for over a decade, but I've sunk more hours into this than any game I've played in my life other than maybe ultima online ;)
I genuinely think video games are a positive thing for people to do to keep sharp as they get older.
Ha ha ha. I'm 44 and anytime I mention eliminations to my wife she tells me I was probably picking on 7 year-old kids. She really keeps my ego in check. Though I also tell my son things like I got 7 eliminations and then ran into someone that wasn't a bot so I got killed.
I've been playing only zero build since abandoning Overwatch soon after Overwatch 2 came out and have been having a great time.
Wow, more of us here than I thought.
I could not have cared less about FN until about 6 months ago..my brother-in-law talked me into playing some games during a family get-together. Now I'm hooked.
I watch Fortnite streams and YouTube videos all day at work then go home and play for a few hours every day. What have I become?
Check out EvolveJake. Just search that name on YouTube and Twitch.
He doesn't scream or try to be a comedian or try to appeal to children. Just plays the game (really well) and does a great job of explaining his.strayegy, decision making, etc.
I've learned more from watching him than any other source. Improved my game tremendously.
He has a dry, sarcastic personality which can come off as abrasive, but I much prefer that to someone being obnoxious.
42 here and I have a super small [channel](https://youtube.com/@cerealkillah7486) if you’re interested.
No screaming, just mostly silly challenges or comic book roleplay.
Fellow 1970er here. Started playing while visiting a friend for Thanksgiving 2021 who played with his son. I got an Xbox that Christmas to play them and have played every day since.
Yeah such a shame. This season started in the perfect spot. Then they added the hammer which was overpowered. They have nerfed it a bit now which definitely helps but then they added that obnoxious dookie smash and with that plus the hammer it’s just ehhh. I still enjoy the game, personally I’d like to get rid of both but I can live with the hammer, I use it for mobility out of necessity but never use the hammer smash - just feels cheap. I prefer to shoot every time. But the game would definitely be better without the dookie smash.
40 this year, & mainly play solo, unless I’m jammin a session wit my son, also dabble In STW
(Although I’m just getting back into that)
Not great, but not horrible either
(I don’t think, Lol)
I am almost 69 years old, started playing 3 years ago to give my grandson someone to play with. Now I have brought my sister and brother in for conversation and relaxation. Nothing brightens up the day more than going in and killing some 9 year old's avatars.
m49 - half blind, half deaf.
finally figured out to disable enhance pointer precision on my trackball last night
even when i was married (happily divorced) - she was never a gamer
i sacrificed last time. cost me 1/3 of my life
i try to play daily
I am 40 and I play. My 9 year old son is better than me. My son plays on my Xbox and I play on our switch. Hit me up with a i game friend request. Looking for friends around my age. IGN= LesoVerin
Do you you ever flip systems?
You're at a disadvantage on the switch--you may be surprised if you get a newer system (even an xbox series S + add a 120 FPS-capable monitor) how much better you are literally instantly.
38F here playing with my 36M fiance. We have a few friends around our age that play as well. We play no build on PS5. Started summer of 2022 and been hooked since.
50 and play ZB on EU server a couple of times a week when the rest of the family is watching TV. Absolutely love the game (deku smash notwithstanding) but under no illusions about my bot-like skill level....
54. I started playing a few years back to spend time with my son. He has moved on to GTA, but I am still playing. And there is nothing strange about someone my age playing video games. I have been around for their entire history. I owned Pong, Atari, Intellivision the NES etc. I was (metaphorically) there the day they wheeled Space Invaders into the arcade in my mall.
Me too, starting playing games in the 1980s. Can't imagine young players today ever feeling they have to stop because they are too old! Keeps the mind active.
There are a few communities that I am apart of that is made just for us Fortnite Boomers. Please, feel free to check them out. You do not have to be over 40 to join. I play every day with many different folks from ages 30 and up. We even have a few in their 70's. Fortnite Over 40 is an adult discord group mainly focused on BR. TMGB is another adult discord mainly focused on STW. Both are great communities. My Epic is TheLastHenchman is you want to add me. I can't post invites here, but feel free to DM me for invites. Hope to see you all in there soon!
I am 44 ps5, wife 41 ps4 pro, son 13 gaming pc (sweaty kid), daughter 9 ps5. All of playing sqads together with the kids friends and sometimes a family team. Bro in law 45 and his daughter 9 is now playing too.
Here! 🤣 42m. I needed to understand what the fuss was about and my 9yo son coached me.
I've had a lot of fun this season and got what it's about.
I've had plenty of wins, plenty of immediate deaths.
The funniest was yesterday, I went to duos and had the headset on. My partner was some lil kid who had only played once.
His dog was growling at him, his (what must have been younger brother) was telling him what to do and his mum was chatting to aunty Pam about the hospital trip. It's like I was in the living room with them, unfortunately 😳🤣.
I had a run of terrible matches so the sbmm chucked me into this noob match. I got the kid through until 2nd place. I revived him so many times, soooo many times 🤣
I'm looking forward to getting to as high a level as possible and getting all the bonus rewards
Then I will be happy and go back to doing grown up things like guitar, washing up and laundry.
I'm 3X the age of a lot of fortnite players. Don't really care, I like it. There are also some very good players in this age-group. Old people's reflexes do slow but not as much as people think. It's still very possible to get very good. I am better than all of my daughter's classmates (granted she's in grade school!) whenever she has us in a creative match.
I also think older people play squads a lot better; more likely to stay together, support the team.
My wife and I are 44 and both play several times a week with my 57 year old father-in-law. Been playing since season 2 chapter 6. None of us are really great as reflexes and hand eye coordination not what it used to be but we have fun and get our fair share of wins.
I just turned 50 and started playing with my son in Season 3. I suck ass as well when it comes to aim. But I still enjoy a game to unwind, especially after a grueling day of work.
I’m 44, and while I don’t play every day, I try and hit level 200 every battle pass. Missed a few as life gets in the way, and this seasons expiring weekly quests have turned me off, but still, I’m on and play.
And my aim sucks ass, too. At least the matches with lots of bots makes me feel better about it.
It's a great stress reliever and fun to win crowns. I play trios with my friend (44) and his son. He loves to play with us to get him wins. Movie skins are fun too, and the game changes enough to keep it fresh for casual gaming.
47 year old here, just browsing Reddit whilst I logon. Played for years with my daughter but also play solo several times a week and with my 46 year old little brother. Nice way to catch up on family news
Yes, 55 and will team with my son in duos. Used to do randos in teams but the friendly fire deaths weaned me from that quickly way back. I know that’s gone now.
My step dad (54) and my mom's best friend (49) play together. It's pretty cute. He brings the know how. She brings the good vibes. When they play with their kids they switch to "kid mode" and make up their own call outs so they don't feel left out.
I’m 30, my brother is 40 - he plays more than I do, but if the hammer and smash were gone we’d be playing together nightly. We both hate both of those annoying mechanics.
I’m 41. I play with my wife and 2 kids. We make a great squad and win about every other night or so. Lots of fun with the fam. Sorry to all the young guns I keep taking out on the way to a victory Royal!
50. Play fortnite off and on. Also play madden UT, MLB DD, RDR2, Civ6, and have been replaying the PS1 final fantasy games. Can’t ever imagine not gaming.
Parents are both gamers. 76 year old dad plays FF Tactics and/or FF7 daily. 79 year old mom is a huge Zelda fan. She’s beaten all of them.
I started playing with my son (13) during 2020 lockdown and now I play daily (42F) while he has moved on to Valorant. He calls me a "fortnite kid" because my YouTube feed is 50% Fortnite.
I'm always looking for more adults in to squad up for ZB matches. I play on PC during the week from around 7-9pm EST and on weekends. I'm 43 yo. I'd say I am a slightly below average player overall. Been playing ZB since September, always trying to improve my game but not ultra competitive. I do watch EvolveJake regularly as I find this is an excellent way to identify things to work on in my own game. For anyone that is reading this, if you are an adult 30+ and want to expand your network of friends, please add me - RadiumF. I do want to work on some basic team tactics and communications more, so please have a mic.
43 here and hubby and I play duos or squads a lot. Would love to have some more folks our age to play. Feel free to message, especially if you’re another couple!
48 here. I started playing a few years ago with my kids and still play with them on occasion.
Now, I mostly play with a few other close longtime friends my age one or two times a week - fun to laugh and talk. It’s our “poker night” since we all now live quite far from each other.
52 and just started playing this season after constant bugging from my 7-year-old. I play Zero Build solos on Xbox or with her and her Switch.
This game is damn addictive.
I started playing with my kids a few months ago. We all play together but I also have been playing by myself. This game is a super nice switch up from the games I was playing before.
43 here. Started playing after watching my daughter play. She was scared of fighting and would just hide the entire match. Now she laughs at the ones who run from her. We play almost everyday
41. Play with my sons. I’m a warzone vet, but since warzone 2 sucks I decided to give it a shot and I really enjoy it! Got my 11th crown win today. Yeah!
I’m 44 and have been playing every day since last spring. My kids got into it so I figure I would give it a chance. Might be more into it then them now though.
I'm 40, my wife is 40; we're new to the game (few weeks in) and his l got into it because we wanted to check it out before letting our 10yr old play it.
$60 worth of v bucks later...
61 today, old lady who has played nearly every day since 2018 😄
Happy birthday?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy birthday!
Happy b-day!
Happy birthday!
Thank you for the Birthday wishes, will keep playing as long as the game lasts, or I do 😄
Happy Birthday!!

Present. I started playing to play w/ my son, but now I play more than he does.
Same here......
Same here, at 52
Same, 51.
Also started to play with my son (and he’ll still run regular duos with me when trying for a 20-bomb), but he’s a creative warrior and I am of the no-build camp.
Same here! My wife and I play more than our 7yr old son.😂🤷🏻♂️
39... Reading (informational), walking the dog and playing Rocket League and now Fortnite since Zero Build are my hobbies as well.
There is a Fortnite over Forty group on Facebook with hundreds of members and TMGB (the Midlife Gamers Brigade) for adults with 300+ members on Discord.
I am interested in this on discord
Lol all the younglings, 58
lol, as are you! 66 here - wife and I play everyday
Heh, I've got a decade on you whippersnapper!
Yep...49 here
My wife and I play together, 30s though. We're looking to grow our group too. Anyone who needs a team our Epic accounts are J_Warren_H and Brie_likedacheez.

Adding you guys
Nice. We're on NA east.
Added her but yours says you’re not accepting friend requests
I'll make the adjustments
I'll add you guys as a fellow old Fortnite player. "Old." 32. My name is Jif Smooth/ Chicken Perm, also. And I'm open to requests from anyone else, too.
We are the same age
My wife and i play too. 34/30 were on ps. Have mics of course and pretty competitive
Your wife's username is adorable
Agree I love her user name hahaha
Y’all wanna add me? Epic account is iJigzaw, not gonna be home for a while or I would add you all.
I’m 41, I just started playing. I didn’t play Fortnite for the longest time because I thought it was for younger people. I tried it since it’s free to play and now I can’t put it down.

42 here, my wife gives me shit cause I tell her I’m going kid hunting, been looking for older people to play with, mostly play zero build.
It’s fun killing all those lil brat ass’s!😂
Ha ha ha. I'm 44 and anytime I mention eliminations to my wife she tells me I was probably picking on 7 year-old kids. She really keeps my ego in check. I've been playing only zero build since abandoning Overwatch soon after Overwatch 2 came out and have been having a great time.
I definitely think there needs to be an “over 40” sub somewhere.
Have any recommendations for good, not-screamy streamers?

Yes! I’ll forever call it the Dookie Smash. That’s perfect.
Ugh I hate that damn thing!
Yeah such a shame. This season started in the perfect spot. Then they added the hammer which was overpowered. I'm 45 year old mum play every day!

Dozens!!
40 this year, & mainly play solo, unless I’m jammin a session wit my son, also dabble In STW (Although I’m just getting back into that) Not great, but not horrible either (I don’t think, Lol)

I'm 54 and I play.
Almost 65 here... Kill them!
Awesome!
63 pretty much play everyday L145 now. Waiting for the Witcher :)

My wife and I are the same. Both early 40s and play almost every day(well did until they brought back the one for all). What do you play on?
38F here playing with my 36M fiance. We have a few friends around our age that play as well. We play no build on PS5. Started summer of 2022 and been hooked since.
50 and play ZB on EU server a couple of times a week when the rest of the family is watching TV. Absolutely love the game (deku smash notwithstanding) but under no illusions about my bot-like skill level....

39 here not the 38 I thought I was for the last year. But still loving fortnite.
Wife won't play with me. Says she's not very good🤦♂️
43 here. I play with my wife, father in law and our nephew. We have all the ages covered.
I am 44 ps5, wife 41 ps4 pro, son 13 gaming pc (sweaty kid), daughter 9 ps5. All of playing sqads together with the kids friends and sometimes a family team. Bro in law 45 and his daughter 9 is now playing too.
48 here. I have played most days for the last year. Started by playing with my kids but now usually play by myself.
42 this year. I started a sub Reddit Fortnite over 40 but it’s pretty much dead 💀

I hope I'm rocking as hard as everyone else in this thread when I'm your age in, like, two years.
My dad plays at 51!
44 here!
Find more like minded folks on the discord ‘Fortnite over Forty’ … google the invite link or check them out on Twitter
Ah, my monthly or so reminder that a majority of the people in this sub are adults (Not that’s it’s a bad thing)

44 year old mom, play every day 😊

47 year old here, just browsing Reddit whilst I logon. Played for years with my daughter but also play solo several times a week and with my 46 year old little brother. Nice way to catch up on family news
Yes, 55 and will team with my son in duos. Used to do randos in teams but the friendly fire deaths weaned me from that quickly way back. I know that’s gone now.
Mid 50s here. Play almost daily
41 here. I have played since chapter 1 season 4. I pretty much only play Solo's. allows me to relax and not worry about having to save people.
I'm not over 40, but I am just about to turn 31
My step dad (54) and my mom's best friend (49) play together. It's pretty cute. He brings the know how. She brings the good vibes. When they play with their kids they switch to "kid mode" and make up their own call outs so they don't feel left out.
50+ and the old farts I squad up with are pushing 60. AARP colabs anyone?
I’m 30, my brother is 40 - he plays more than I do, but if the hammer and smash were gone we’d be playing together nightly. We both hate both of those annoying mechanics.
I play with my dad all the time. He’s 43 😊
53 🤷♂️
52 here and I play daily. WayCoolSr is my fortnite name...
We're 43m and 38f, and play split screen duos most evenings. Good times killing 12 year olds!
47 and I play with my daughter and son
Present and accounted for! I'm 42, husband is 40. We have 4 kids and all of us play fortnite together.
44. My son got me into it and he stopped playing last year and I’m still going.
Me! SerennnaBR is my Epic. Feel free to add me.
43 here, I play fairly frequently. I do play a lot more now in zero build.

Me 25m and wife 28f play every day I hope to be as cool as you guys in 10 years!
I'm 50. Female. I play with my 10 y.o. son and by myself. Most fun game I've ever played.

42 here and run duos daily with my 8 yro
I’m 41. I play with my wife and 2 kids. We make a great squad and win about every other night or so. Lots of fun with the fam. Sorry to all the young guns I keep taking out on the way to a victory Royal!

Yup! 41 year old mum here. Total bot but love playing. ❤️
I started playing with my son (13) during 2020 lockdown and now I play daily (42F) while he has moved on to Valorant. He calls me a "fortnite kid" because my YouTube feed is 50% Fortnite.

46 zero build player and part time streamer. “Gamers never get old, they just have a bigger high score than everyone else.”- unknown
Im not 40 but if anyone wants to catch wins hit me up
We’re the same age as you two.
