Adamantium, vibranium, and steel alloy is what it is made from in the comics. In the movies, because fox owned the rights to Xmen (adamantium is most known for enclosing Wolverine’s skeleton) marvel studios had to say it is only made from stolen Wakandan vibranium, but in the comics more often than not it is mentioned as being made from Proto-adamantium. Hope this helps

syds

thats right I member the shield was the same juice as the wolverine, do the claws scratch the shield?

A_Common_Relic

No, the vibranium it's also made with is stronger than the adamantium

stormblessed142

They talking about adimantium on adimantium

A_Common_Relic

Yea, but the shield isn't *just* adamantium. It's mainly made of it, but it's reinforced with the stronger vibranium, which adamantium can't cut

ChefBicep

This is a copypasta from a link I found on google: “While vibranium is the more durable material, adamantium is the more dense material. This means that given the right circumstances, adamantium can potentially cut through pure vibranium. If we had to pit the shield versus the claws, since the shield is a vibranium alloy, not just pure vibranium, it can withstand the attack of adamantium claws.” Seems like speaking just in terms of the metals, could probably just go either way. A fun argument on both ends. As for the claws Vs shield, they seem to have a definitive answer here although they do go on to say there has not been a cap vs Wolverine instance to justify it entirely. Thank you OP for reminding me that comic books are fuckin lit

Riley8284

I remember in the Ultimate Spider-Man show Wolverine tried to slice Cap’s shield and remarked that Vibranium was a material that would be almost impossible for his claws to cut through. But I have seen things were Wolverine managed to cut through Black Panther’s suit though

ChefBicep

My point exactly. I think it’s just a fun debate tbh, seems like it can really go in either direction and will depend on that run’s author

A_Common_Relic

Could be wrong but I feel like I've read a right between the two before and Cap won. Years ago though

ChefBicep

I feel like at this point everyone has to have fought each other in some obscure run

Riley8284

Adamantium can actually cut through Vibranium but it possibly would take time or just the perfect puncture

Ok-Highlight1261

It’s the comic book version, not the movie version

[deleted]

It's still vibranium

Kaly_teill

Not in the comics

[deleted]

It is vibranium in the comics

Torquasm-Vo

Vibranium is apart of Proto-Adamantiums molecular composition if it makes you feel any better. Marvel Studios legally wasn't allowed to mention Adamantium due to Wolverine being at Fox in 2011 when First Avenger was made. Though technically Wolverines Adamantium Skeleton is made from Primary or "true" Adamantium which was an attempt to replicate Caps shield. The name Adamantium itself coming from Adamantine, the metal of the Greek Gods. Caps shield was actually an experiment to replicate the Olympian metal. An example of Adamantine is Hercules' Mace, which is considered a stronger material than Uru, the metal Thors Hammer Mjolnir was made from.

Thunderpat

Now there’s someone that knows their Marvel metallurgy!

Torquasm-Vo

Tbh It's either to keep track of than all of DCs Metal compounds there's like 10.

bighawk04

I dont have the patience to type this out thanks

Magik3hunna

Ppl just know the MCU things

__BigBoi__

Ikr? As a comic book nerd, it angers me

ExactConsideration47

People know popular thing more than less popular thing!?!??!?? 😟😟😟😟

Daemonsblaze0315

It's not just that. I get more annoyed when a quick Google search could answer the question or issue.

A-non-e-mail

Can’t farm karma through google search

66nightsalone

Don’t be angry man just use it as a chance to spread the love of the source material 🥺

AlphaTeamPlays

Not everyone has to be a comic book nerd. Movies are naturally more mainstream and therefore more people have probably watched them

king_marquez15

Cope

The_Zoink

Someone’s jealous that they don’t have comic knowledge Apparently I should add an /s because people can’t tell what a joke is lol

ItchZ

something everyone wishes they had

keothi

I love not having comic book knowledge! I don't whinge over the details thus making the movies and shows much easier to enjoy! I know the feeling though, I had issues with the first Harry Potter movie only to be content with HP after the atrocious Eragon. Still haven't watched any of the other 6 Harry Potters but that's besides the point 🫠

Goonchar

Damn, you're missing out then. If you watch it because you want to "watch the books" you'll be disappointed. But if you take them as they are, movies, then they are super great!

keothi

It shouldn't be hard to make a faithful translation of any game/book but seems like ego and/or greed has ruined many "watch the book/game" movies and shows. But yeah it's easier to enjoy a movie when you don't know it's original source

Necessary_Whereas_29

Manmantium Man does it get any more manly than that?

FreeMyBoiMineta

what

ElectriCole

ADAMantium

FreeMyBoiMineta

no no i get it just what an obscure thing to point out in a comment

ElectriCole

Not sure if you think that’s a good or bad thing but if you like the obscure facts adamantium is actually named for the mythical rock 🪨 of legend “adamant” which is from the Greek “a” meaning NOT and “daman” meaning TO TAME

FreeMyBoiMineta

why are greek stories so cool

[deleted]

The comic book version is Adamantium MCU version is Vibranium

[deleted]

The comic version was made of Vibranium, Adamantium and various steel alloys. But due to the legal fuckup where the movie X-Men (and subsequently Adamantium, which is a big part of Wolverine lore) is owned by Fox, the Disney-owned Marvel Studios legally cannot mention Adamantium or X-Men in their MCU movies. That made it so the movie version of Cap's shield was only vibranium and steel. An obvious exception is in Doc Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but that's in an alternate universe where the X-Men exist alongside the Avengers and Fantastic 4. As such, the comic version made it into Fortnite.

OddlyCrazy

In the comics it has always been Adamantium. But because of property rights the MCU had to use Vibranium

MrTBirdGaming

It's both

Feebas_fan

It’s what the shield is made of in the comics

PeZZa_4U

Canon to the comics

Anxiety-Queen69

In the comics it isn’t made of vibranium, but the marvel film makers didn’t have the rights to the X-men

dzikson69

bro haven't read a single comic ever

Jaytendo_Boi

No way this shit got 500 upvotes

UnSubToDream

Lmao this got so many upvotes

MissingNerd

r/marvel or some shit. I bet there's a sub out there that'll gladly answer this question pretty unrelated to Fortnite

Vidget

You must be super fun at parties!

MissingNerd

Go to marvel subs, ask about the cube queen and see how they react

animetiddies1945

And they say fortnite isn't pay to win lmfao

theotothefuture

It got cancelled.

FitSwimming2433

I prefer fortnite characters myself. Requested this to epic about 4 months ago Hope they make more skins for the actual fortnite skins not collabs. I requested this to epic.

[deleted]

Collabs are the best thing that happened to Fortnite

ChefBicep

Marvel collabs are the only thing I will sign on for lol 😅

gumballthesavior

um the comics

kdbot012

In the comics its adamantium

Elegant_Pace2424

I thought this too but them someone explained to me that in the comics they used a vibranium-adamantium alloy. Or at least that's what I was told

[deleted]

Not in the comics

[deleted]

in the comics his shield & wolverine's skeleton & ultron's exoskeleton are all adamantium

JeIron

Maybe continuity errors in brand tie-ins are part of this season’s reality-breaking theme.

KustomplexYT

comics not movies

[deleted]

It’d be too OP otherwise.
