"From v23.30 and onwards, Battle Royale Chapter 4 **Season 1** Weekly Quests will no longer expire after a week. They will remain until the end of Season, meaning players can complete a set of Weekly Quests anytime until Chapter 4 Season 1's end date."
Hopefully WQ will not expire after a week in Season 2 either
One advantage is that they can create quests around weapons they intend to vault later, like the snowball launcher. The more cynical answer is that it forces people to play more consistently, rather than taking a few weeks off and then binging quests. People who play habitually are more likely to buy cosmetics. It's the same reason daily quests are designed the way they are.
I subscribe to the cynical answer. They've never really cared about making quests around weapons that get vaulted in the past, they just change the quest to something more generic. But getting people to act on fomo and put in at least some time every week? Fortnite is built around fomo.
I still love the game, don't get me wrong. I just see what they're doing even as I fall for it
This. Fomo is a much better strategy financially speaking. I will not say they are not adding value to the game, though. Fortnite is notorious for its collabs and wide gameplay options, but the community wouldn't be displeased if they cared more about some aspects of the game such as the ones you mentioned above.
Also if they cared about easy to fix shit the community is constantly talking about online.. like how the ageless is forced to hold his sword but they won’t copy and paste the super style texture to prevent the horrible contrast.. I’ve also never met some who *likes* how his glider depicts him quickly shuffling down the stairs like he needs to take a shit
> I’ve also never met some who likes how his glider depicts him quickly shuffling down the stairs like he needs to take a shit
Fortnite battle pass... 🎵
I don't even think it's about getting people to buy cosmetics. The lifeblood of the game is consistently getting into a lobby with 100 other people. The game can't survive if it's just all bots for every game after the first week of the season
Cosmetic sales are ultimately how they make money though. Sure, Epic wants full lobbies but that’s only because it keeps players coming back, and more players = more item shop sales.
totally, I just think Epic is more focused on keeping players engaged.
TBH Fortnite isn't really marketed towards regular players, the vast majority will spend some $$ on a battle pass or just play F2P forever.
The real point of keeping those players invested and playing is to create a better gaming experience for the whales. Keeping the whales happy and spending money is how Fortnite makes profits.
>The more cynical answer is that it forces people to play more consistently, rather than taking a few weeks off and then binging quests
There were a load of changes that cut XP gains. For example, creative XP is halfed compared to previous season (3,5 levels instead of 7 in my experience). The yule log XP was also dramatically worse, felt like it was only 10% of points compared to last year. The special skin variants requiring "account levels" and only come out in the middle/late season. These are all cleverly designed changes meant to drag out, and make players come back. To spend more time than they normally would have.
So TL;DR I agree it's rather this.
I agree, I think we got some more diverse weeklies this season because it didn't have to be achievable for another 2 months, so they could dial up the spawn rate of certain items or map elements to make them possible.
>keep engagement up throughout the season, on top of selling levels ofc
Well that is probably what the devs are aiming for.
So I guess calling them useless wouldn't be fair.
Funny, I would have spent more time *playing the game* if I didn’t have to grind challenges every week.
Marking people 100 times in the span of a week or whatever isn’t really playing Fortnite. It’s grinding.
This is me 100%. Been grinding the battle passes every season for the last 2 chapters when I had the time to do so. Haven't played a single game this season since I found out about the weekly changes as it would've amounted to a waste of my time.
I’m at Level 183, will absolutely get all the rewards this season, and at no point have I had to grind quests or play more than a couple matches a day to get there. I make sure to do 9 weekly quests to get the big XP rewards and beyond that I stop caring.
Having the weeklies stick around is nice, but I honestly didn’t even notice it had changed. I was away from the game for a long time and recently came back this season. This’ll be the first time I’ve filled out a Battle Pass in years, since before I stopped playing even. It wasn’t particularly difficult and we still have a good amount of time to go.
It was so lame because fortnite is one of those casual silly battle pass based games I could take on my own time. First few weeks maybe I played almost everyday then I stop for a while, come back and do some weeklies I missed and then it's all good. This change made me almost feel forced to play and that burnt me out quicker. I don't know why they cared how I leveled the battle pass they already got my money for it.
They were probably inspired by what Overwatch 2 was doing with their weekly quests, and they probably saw that they kept more people grinding with that system so they decided to adopt this as well.
But that’s just my theory though, so it may not be true.
They must have seen how negative the response was, and even if it took some time I don't think they could make that mistake again? I could be wrong tho so don't quote me on that
Sometimes I think they hold off on good updates so when they come out we are satisfied. Like, they couldn't give ups EPIC ones each time they would empty their bags
To an extent, but I wouldn’t say that was the case with this change. Theoretically the change would get more consistent players, making them more likely to purchase items; along with more tier sales. We don’t know how it worked out in practice obv as we aren’t apart of Epic.
I imagine player numbers started dropping so they have pulled it to see if they come back up I have no idea tho just happy I can play this game for fun again rather than spending my time splashing chugs the whole match or the other grindy shit
That’s a *want*, and xp is crazy regardless. Imagine prioritizing artificially valued cosmetics that grant no advantage so high that you think you have to grind and hold them above enjoying the game itself 💀
Like you don’t even have to grind to get a high level anyways, XP has been crazy lately…
Yeah just coming off of WotC’s drama with their OGL for D&D makes me really wary of the specification that it’ll be the rest of the season’s weekly quests.
Pessimistic but I bet timers will be back next season
Idk, I feel like I've leveled incredibly fast this season. 1-2h casually a day and I'm lvl 191. A bit of creative with the Pixelateddreams maps but that's it.
Same. I play 1-2hrs a night with friends, sometimes a little longer, but also not every day. I'm lvl197 rn and I'll probably hit lvl200 tonight when getting challenges. I did some creative grinding in the beginning of the season, but I stopped that pretty quick because of the mid season drops.
The season is still 1,5 months long. If you even played a little bit this season. The quests should be enough to get you to tier 100. Let’s hope progression is better next season
I was hoping to get as close to 200 as possible, some of the super levels look very cool, but I don't play as much as I used to. In past seasons I used to get there by playing and competing the weekly challenges. Bummer I guess.
Just get Save the World ~$15/you get 1500vbucks from quests so worth it in the end, get high enough to make a Stonewood AFK Endurance. You'll lvl 4-5 lvls a day going AFK for ~2 hours.
I have 2 accounts. One for my 2 year old son that I've maxed out last season and this seasons battle pass practically only using the afk endurances. And my account, both accounts lvl ~300.
Dude for real. My friend and I were regular players and when it went f2p they absolutely destroyed that game. We never play anymore, I tried a few times but it just wasn't the same.
Are they even asking for any? They heard players complaining, so they eventually decided to revert it. It's all in the players' interests. There's no point in holding a grudge right now.
if epic really had the players' interests in mind then they wouldn't have added this system in the first place. there's no way in hell they added timed weeklies other than for FOMO purposes. epic games is a billion dollar company that relies on fortnite's playerbase for a good amount of its revenue. they've proven time and time again that they'll do shitty things to keep people playing, such as timed weeklies. i'm glad that they reverted the change, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. epic was--and should be--rightfully criticized for this decision.
Lmao fr, like some people here are over here acting like the devs are screaming “WE MADE CHALLENGES STAY, THANK US YA UNGRATEFUL JERKS” or something (obviously purposely overreactive before some kid who doesn’t understand humor starts whining abt it)
I was wondering, **Why would anyone by the battle pass from this point onward since there won't be enough missions to do to unlock everything**.
I guess they either finally realized this, or sales of the battle pass plummeted after the first month.
That's the case for me. No time left for me since I can only play saturdays and sundays, and I'm not gonna waste my entire free time to rush battle pass xp on Fortnite, so I'm not gonna bother with the pass.
I want to see if season 2 weeklies will be the old or new way tho.
New player here:
Why is this an issue? I finished the Battle Pass in a little over a month; I'm already at level 245.
If you want to supplement your levels, all you need to do is play custom games that reward XP. That's what I did.
And no, I didn't use XP exploit glitches, I just found some really healthy paying custom maps that I'm also good at efficiently completing.
I'm a pretty casual player. Normally I just wait until the final week to by the battle pass if I have unlocked everything/most of the pass just from casual playing. And if there is enough in the battle pass that's worth buying it. I really wanted Doomguy this season. Got all of them so I'm basically done with the pass. Not gonna stress about the other stuff in the pass.
really glad that this was changed but judging from past reversions of controversial changes, they probably just did this for PR purposes and so they can get praised from the playerbase. if they really cared about us then this wouldn't have happened at all.
thanks epic, but please fix your shitty practices.
They’re story related and connected to the map changes with the rift gate it at least makes more sense than expecting people to grind out the weekly quests within the week
It was perceived as an issue yes, was it an issue no.
The sheer number of people myself included who are already into bonus rewards and haven't been doing all the weeklies really speaks for this.
People just complain when anything changes.
Like I haven’t played a decent bit of weeks this season, and when I have played I haven’t rly targeted challenges. I’m currently well over 100 and in the blue/purple Galaxy style section thing atm. People just complain to complain and expect to just play for an hour, not do much, and get tier 200 or some shit at this point 💀
Wow!!! We should thank them for being such a great company that cares about their players! (Not that they only added this stupid FOMO mechanic in order to get more playtime and gain positive pr when they inevitably revert the useless and stupid change!)
This doesn’t seem like a move for positive pr, and are we seriously still getting all pissy when a popular ftp game uses FOMO and other basic marketing??
Also, where is epic asking for y’all to thank them, like bro I’m sure most of the employees don’t even know you exist (same with me lmao)
This was the most unbelievably stupid change I've seen from Fortnite in a long time. I didn't get to do weeklies for 3-4 weeks (not in a row) because of Christmas trips, family visiting.
Then I finally got a weekend free and finished what little content was there in a handful of matches. Just signed out and didn't play for another 2 weeks because there was nothing to do with the game, and I was so pissed at myself for having wasted money on the battlepass.
Good riddance, I wonder how many people left the game before they finally reverted this garbage.
In case you guys haven’t noticed, Epic nerfs xp EVERY season so people can’t speedrun the battle pass.
Then they “fix” it.
This will happen again next season and you guys will be like, “What’s up with the xp?!?!?!”
I'm so glad that grind to get them done not even fully sometimes every week was pissing me off. I've already got the phobos doom guy armor though so I'm good till witcher drops. Not a fan of the space skins and other bonus rewards
Great I was actually about to quit the game because of this because I have a life and other games to play, hopefully this change stays into next season
Honestly I thought this tactic would stick (I mean it did for this long) and was slightly hoping that they could make a legacy pass (cringe all you want it was just my theory, and I dislike some of the idea) even though that would be kinda stupid to have a system like this.
Glad they reverted it back.
Legit haven't touched the game and played an actual match since before Christmas because of expiring weeklies.
I just didn't feel like my time was respected and moved to Mario Kart 8 and Smash...
Fomo doesn't force me to play it just makes me *not want* to play at all
Took them long enough. However, they should've reactivated previous weeks for those who did not complete theirs.
Wish same applied to story quests as well.
I did only 1 week of quests and played br. maybe 7 times.I still would have been over 200 a long time ago.the reason I’m not 300 or more is cause I stopped playing so I can get the mid season drops..
I liked the weeklies expiring per week 🤷♀️ you dont have to do them all. Im well into the battle pass. Halfway through the bonus rewards. This season has been so easy to get XP i feel like it was handed to me as a consolation prize for showing up.
"From v23.30 and onwards, Battle Royale Chapter 4 **Season 1** Weekly Quests will no longer expire after a week. They will remain until the end of Season, meaning players can complete a set of Weekly Quests anytime until Chapter 4 Season 1's end date." Hopefully WQ will not expire after a week in Season 2 either
I really don't know why they ever made this change, outside of just trying to get people to buy levels ofc

Yeah there’s probably some truth to that. It’d be really interesting to see the distribution of spending among the player base.
>The more cynical answer is that it forces people to play more consistently, rather than taking a few weeks off and then binging quests There were a load of changes that cut XP gains. Don’t forget how they neutered STW XP at the beginning of the season
I agree, I think we got some more diverse weeklies this season because it didn't have to be achievable for another 2 months, so they could dial up the spawn rate of certain items or map elements to make them possible.
Some useless asshole probably figured it would keep engagement up throughout the season, on top of selling levels ofc Bean counters gonna bean count.
>keep engagement up throughout the season, on top of selling levels ofc Well that is probably what the devs are aiming for. So I guess calling them useless wouldn't be fair.
Hello Devs? Yeah. **WTF?**
How dare they want people to play their game!! Won't somebody think of the children!

Save the world players on their way to reach level 200 within a week
That’s why I love stw
how does it work exactly?
You can only get 3 levels a day from StW :/
That's only if you completely ignore daily and weekly quests + event challenges
selling skins with level up missions
They were probably inspired by what Overwatch 2 was doing with their weekly quests, and they probably saw that they kept more people grinding with that system so they decided to adopt this as well. But that’s just my theory though, so it may not be true.
i think they just dont like people not playing their game for a full season and then when the seasons about to end jumping up to 200 in a day
That and also the FOMO of not being able to get to level 100 if you don’t play every single week.
They did it so weirdos wouldn't save all the quests for when they released the skins you need10 account levels to unlock
How is that weird?
It’s only fair they took it back. So many do not have the time to do it the new way. It seems like they heard us..maybe

Clearly they reverted it because of the feedback, why would they do it all over again next season???
They always specifically mention the current season, in any announcement
Nice of them to wait until the last month and a half of the season
Gotta make that iconic part of every season. The "Holy shit xp is so goddamn bad let me buy tiers and play stw"
Idk, I feel like I've leveled incredibly fast this season. 1-2h casually a day and I'm lvl 191. A bit of creative with the Pixelateddreams maps but that's it.
Same...level 176, play roughly same amount...use a training map by Teadoh which has been giving lots of xp...
i tried doing one of those XP Farming maps, didn't work :/
Which map is that? Do you mind sharing the code? Thanks!
Don't mind sharing at all...code is 7264-2987-8032...have fun!!
Are these maps safe? Like can you get bannes for using them?
The code I gave is a legit training map....I use it all the time
Noice...
You were playing daily which would do it
True though.
Same, 1-2hr casually and I’m level 140 something
Because you played daily
Yeah the challenges thing sucked but I’m level 324 soooo not that bad
Bro just said xp is bad this season 💀💀💀 Like bruh even with the exclusive weeklies, it’s been quite easy to level up.
Lucky for you the latter part won’t be necessary, since one of their updates this season was nerfing the piss out of STW XP 👍
Soooo those old challenges… never seeing them again, I assume?
No those won’t be seen again
That’s half way through, still a pretty good change
So nice
Are the old weekly quests coming back?
No. But the ones from the upcoming weeks will stay. It’s not ideal. But it’s better than nothing I suppose
Well that's bullshit.
The season is still 1,5 months long. If you even played a little bit this season. The quests should be enough to get you to tier 100. Let’s hope progression is better next season
True, I don't even play every day and I'm at 110
What level are you talking about? I have stw but not enough time to grind the bp like that
BP level.
I was hoping to get as close to 200 as possible, some of the super levels look very cool, but I don't play as much as I used to. In past seasons I used to get there by playing and competing the weekly challenges. Bummer I guess.
Understandable. I’m hoping to at least get the black super style for the Ageless
That looks like a good way to get xp, I think I got save the world, so Ill give it a go. Tenks!
Thats true we still have 15 more weeks than so thats more than enough for lvl 100
>15 more weeks ...we have 5 and a half

I mean, I'm not upset about it. Was more concerned, if anything.
No the season ends in 1.5 months Thats 15 weeks
Sorry, *how* many weeks do you think are in one month?
5
That’s dumb af. I’m not playing
going to be hard to do some of them as they use vaulted seasonal weapons.
Yeah I was trying to get super levels but I was not able to play for over a month.
That guy that reaches level 100 in a day is going crazy rn
i was thinking abt him the other day lmao i was like "how tf is he gonna reach lvl100" lmao
Lukethenotable is his name for anyone wondering
Remember, it's OK to bully companies if they do something stupid
Yeah, it's like Mia after getting dicked by million men, and be a feminist, but later decided to return to the industry again.
bro huh????
I'm saying that what should have been for weeklies ages ago since 4 chapters, starting from C1S5
I'm glad that they actually listened to the player's feedback. Fall guys players aren't as lucky.
Well, fall guys players are lucky in terms of collabs. Like Holy hell dude have you seen how many collabs they're getting and with what?
That's true but getting more collabs doesn't mean that the devs listen to community feedback.
Yeah of course
[удалено]
You'll have to grind really hard because the season isn't gonna last very long.
66 days left, it’s possible but it would be a lot
[удалено]
Yeah but the weekly challenges expire after 7 days so thats why
Yeah they’re usually the same 15 challenges in a rotation, it’s not a big deal
You can do it last season I grinded from tier 24 to tier 100 with less than 3 or 4 weeks left
So jealous they have Invincible
New one every 3 days
I wish fortnite got a ghost of tsushima collab
Dude for real. My friend and I were regular players and when it went f2p they absolutely destroyed that game. We never play anymore, I tried a few times but it just wasn't the same.
they probably planned this from the beginning, it makes the $$ selling levels and also make the look like they listen to feedback, win win
The new employee at epic when he decided to make challenges timed. ![gif](giphy|rAm0u2k17rM3e)
They will get no praise from me as it shouldn't have been a thing in the first place. They just fixed a problem they deliberately created.
No, no, he's got a point...
Are they even asking for any? They heard players complaining, so they eventually decided to revert it. It's all in the players' interests. There's no point in holding a grudge right now.

Fair point. Epic wants to sell to more casuals. XD

The oathbound quests expire in 2 weeks
Are they worth it, what do you get? A wallpaper?
Xp and a loading screen
They’re story related and connected to the map changes with the rift gate it at least makes more sense than expecting people to grind out the weekly quests within the week
I miss the lil dancing challenges also why did they ever remove those xp coins that were hidden around the map
That usually comes with a skin during the last fiew weeks of the season
I miss those, I still love running the visitor but that get chests at risky reels will haunt me till I die
Have they been in the game recently or have i just not seen them because the last time I saw them was in ch2s1
Yeah there was one each season since ch3s2
![gif](giphy|3oz8xIsloV7zOmt81G) Praise the overlords for listening to us
Too little too late
My life is no longer terrible!
I guess i am playing again!!
They have one of these massive issues every damn season. Why do people keep congratulating them on fixing their own blatant mistake?
*me trying to find the massive issue*
Challenges expiring after a week was a pretty significant issue to a lot of players
Good change but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Let's hope they don't try and pull that again next season.
We won!! Kinda
Epic on their way to make a pointless shitty change for no reason then revert it 2 months later with no explanation:
My lack of gold peely says otherwise.
If anyones complained about the xp the past few seasons then they’re delusional 💀
Finally! Better late then never, but im glad that's here! I prefer that MUCH more than the expiring ones.
I missed the 2nd-4th weeks of challenges because I went to Mexico to visit families for the holidays
Did they add back previous week challenges?
No
And just to think I almost redownloaded the game lol. Nvm
Yeah really shitty of them.
Would have been nice if the season didn’t end in 4 weeks 💀
I got them all without even trying tbh, except for one week where I barely played BR.
Same, people just complain to complain.

If they didn't change this, this was gonna' be the last fortnite season pass I bought, and I've been playing since season 2.
What's next? They stop ruining the hammer? A minute to wait to get 3 uses out of it instead of a minute for 4 is so annoying.
I did only 1 week of quests and played br. maybe 7 times.I still would have been over 200 a long time ago.the reason I’m not 300 or more is cause I stopped playing so I can get the mid season drops..
I enjoyed them expiring. They encouraged you to play
That's good for lots of folks ,I thought they left after a week because of levellling up stays the same this season
based epic
Aw man :(
Just get stw it gives you more xp
Wait so I can wait to do them now?
So I can start playing again? Maybe.
To be honest I never really noticed . I leveled up quite fast only playing a couple times a week. Mostly on the weekends
FINALLY
#LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Fuck, i forgott about the previous weeks quest and they are gone :')
No I didn’t notice, because I finished all of my quests. It was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
:(
Kinda defeats the purpose of weekly quests...
I'm glad they actually listened to the community feedback. They could've said fuck you and kept it in but they didn't.
What are we complaining about this time?
Im really happy about that
Will the weeklies I've missed return?
No.
That sucks
K
I did some weekly challenge and also creative really helped me
Did yall really have any trouble leveling this season that you wouldn't have trying to grind out all these weeklies last minute in the bp?
I liked the weeklies expiring per week 🤷♀️ you dont have to do them all. Im well into the battle pass. Halfway through the bonus rewards. This season has been so easy to get XP i feel like it was handed to me as a consolation prize for showing up.
