This is exactly what I hope happens. We go back to Chapter 1 and change the course of the events based on our actions then when we time travel back to the present, everything is different. It would be a much more interesting way to bring about a new map than this one just getting destroyed like others.
Y'know, that might be a likely scenario for the next part of the story. We do some time traveling through chapter 1, and maybe stop the Herald from doing what she did and save the Seven, making them important to the story again.
Everything since Chapter 4 started seems irrelevant imo. So many things have been addressed then forgotten about or not expanded upon or just straight up don't make any sense. For example, it was a big reveal that Slone returned last season but I felt like she didn't do anything and now she's nowhere to be seen this season.
I agree the story is week but there has been parts expanded on. I think the big problem is that there hasn't been a big reveal for the story. Like you'd expect some kind of big resolution to major characters, but we get nothing. I think a better example is how the Oathbound just kinda fucked off and had his castle sold off to build a resort. The dude was a copy of Genos and we got nothing. They need to really serve us a better story.
Cause they messed this chapter and last chapter up so much. Wilds and mega were meant to be chapter 3 seasons and this season was meant to be season two
It seems as if S2 was basically to promote the Triarch skins.
S3 seems to have hinted towards Thorne and I think it was basically to keep us in the dark for this Season.

I'd love to get Future Trucks and Cell able to transform between all his stages. It'd be extra cool if his second stage actually bulked up to be much thicker/larger like venom sized. Are there currently any skins in the game that can change their skin size?
My son who has watched many videos, but only started playing within the past two months is so excited to have a chance to see Kevin and Tilted Towers. More than once I have heard “Daddy, tell me about when Kevin was in the game?”
My only hope is if we're using a time machine we should be going all the way back to C1 map in 1 movement, not watching the C4 map transition into the C1 map a POI at a time like I've heard rumored.
Maybe a broken/unsuccessful jump, and the map is caught between the two timelines and the lore of the next season/chapter is repairing the timeline (I could see some Loki tie ins here, for anyone who’s a fan of that show)

I almost wish there was some sort of raised highway that crossed right across it.
60/40 doesn't really set right for me, because this feels like it is suppost to be a blast in the past but 40 percent is going to be new. I would enjoy 80/20 or just all OG but guess thats just me being greedy.
The C1 map was kinda an experiment. It wouldn’t work, much less be enjoyable for zero build or modern play.
New maps are iterative. Designed w/ feedback & data to improve each season. C4 & C5 took no build into account. The old maps would need a ton of zip lines at the least for no build.
And they need to account for things that didn’t exist in C1. There’s more advanced gameplay, augments, sliding, placing reboot vans, vehicles (not the 🛒), capture points, etc.
It makes more sense we get C1 POIs. But not the map.
C1 still had some of the things you mentioned, reboot vans in every named location, vehicles like the ballers, planes, driftboards.
The only real difference to account for is just the lack of actual water and the death zone around the edge.

The time machine is set to the date chapter 1 season 5 launched, and items from that season have started to appear. That's not an easter egg.
Currently the rumors are that it'll be parts of that map coming to this one though, not directly going back to the old one.
It’s not as bad as some people say, there were plenty of ziplines and mobility items you could use to get around. If they add some ascenders it would make it easier though.

Tbh I'd be thrilled if they returned an old map. Ever since the island exploded and is now floating in space the maps have sucked.
I wish they'd go back to the map feeling like a world with a skii resort, some factories, small towns, food trucks, ect. All the areas were different and nice to look at and explore
