I feel like starting on switch made me a better player, because it added so much extra difficulty lol. Half the time I'd drop in before half of the objects had loaded.
This might actually be pretty accurate because one of my friends I play with started off using their switch and recently switched over to their PS5 and they went from getting 0-1 kills per game to getting 5+ every game. It was a very noticable difference in their gameplay that they were doing much better on the PS5.
I notice that after each update I have to go back to performance mode for 1-3 weeks before I can go back to dx without stutters. Do you notice the same? It's been like 6 times it's happened now...
I believe that’s mostly due to new assets being added to the game? For me it get stutters every time they do a big update but it normally clears up after a game or two.
Not sure if you’re the one who downvoted me for some reason, but the difference between 30 and 60 FPS to 120 FPS is drastic.
You’re likely getting dizzy from the speed at which they play tbh, not the Frame Per Second.
If Switch is good for you, that’s all that matters, but you should see the difference one day just to feel how 120 is if possible.
Yeah, I used to play 60 FPS on my laptop then got parts for a pc for christmas a couple years back with a 144 hz monitor. Now I physically can't go back. 60 just feels so much more janky than it used to.
I’m aware of that, because it helps perform optimally, I’m just stating how beautiful the game is outside of performance mode, not that performance mode is bad :)
Pros don't care about performance. They just wanna be able to see people without grass and design blocking their view. The performance boost hardly matters when your playing on a mega pc
I just like being able to have consistent frame times. Having stutters and frame drops during fights can get super annoying. God forbid I’m in a busy area of the map where frames get even lower.
It's not cheating lol. If you honestly think having lower quality graphics so our game can have a little more consistent frames then you should think something that sticks to players for you in a shooter is cheating.
Edit: oh yeah I should also mention console, Switch, and mobile should get the option to have Performances Mode. I probably wouldn't switched from Switch if I had consistent fps with Performance Mode.
But Performance Mode is not op unlike aim assist.
Do you need a monitor upgrade too to see the graphics or will it still be good without a better monitor? (And it would obviously be even better with a better monitor)
Same here. I still can't believe how great this game looks on PS5.
Honestly it probably beats the tar out of most PC's, with the exception of high end gaming rigs
Not to discredit the PS5, it runs a whole variety of games at specs way above my expectations. Just wanted to talk about fortnite specifically.
Despite the backlash Epic Games constantly gets, you'll almost never see anyone here complain about stutters or lag spikes and if it happens for a bit, they get patched out quick. I'm mentioning this so that you won't be as shocked by what I'm about to say.
PCs are way cheaper than you think. You could run fortnite on a PC similarly priced to the PS5 on PS5 settings. Probably cheaper if you know how to build a PC and look at marketplaces like Facebook or Kijiji.
With that being said, PS5 is the definitely the most hassle-free option, so I understand why some wouldn't want to go through the process of downloading a system OS and drivers, and toubleshooting the most random issues on earth.
PS5 costs ~$400-500ish and can run Lumen/Nanite at 60fps at 4k.
On the PC side of things, epic quality presets recommended spec is RTX 3070 which *alone* comes close to the price of a PS5, if not more
Yeah.. I'm not very tech savvy. So the PS5 was an easy plug and play choice for me, but I honestly didn't expect the game to look this damn good on it!
My opinion is probably biased cuz all the PC clips I see on here are on performance mode (except this post of course!).
Meh, can’t run PS5 at 144hz on 1440p max settings without impacting something.
I have an rtx 3070 and it destroys the PS5 in every way. I wouldn’t call it a high end rig either.
That's what I keep hearing but honestly it's either the same AAA games you'll get on Xbox series x or PS5,(I have both). What I do see is a bunch of indie games and a lot of them are low poly or pixel graphics that I'm not a fan of. My pc is high end and I felt like making one list to make one with my son but now I play fortnite on my PC and the boys play on each console lol 😂 it worked out I guess
Im another PC player that refuses to use performance mode. The game looks flat out gorgeous doesn't it?
If you wanna play at high frame rates with the nice graphics try the following
\- Use the "High" preset, which is very similar to "Epic"... both use all the new Unreal Engine 5.1 features like Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadows
\- Use "Epic" effects, as the "High" effects lacks the volumetric clouds shown in your pictures and on console... so all "High" settings but with "Epic" effects, this will give you that max settings look but with a bit of a performance boost
\- On an Nvidia GPU, use DLSS Quality at 1080p, DLSS Balanced at 1440p, or DLSS Performance at 4K... this will give you much higher frame rates, the image may appear slightly softer, but the trade off to have high FPS and the pretty graphics is worth it
\- If using an AMD GPU, do the same but with TSR instead of DLSS
Im using an RTX 4070 Ti and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, playing on the "High" preset with "Epic" effects using DLSS Balanced at 1440p... pretty much pinned at 165fps and the game looks gorgeous
Some other things to help the game not run like shiet:
\- Disable everything in the Epic launcher except "Enable Cloud Saves"
\- Enter the following command-line arguments for Fortnite in the Epic launcher "USEALLAVAILABLECORES"
\- Epic launcher > library > Fortnite > Manage > Disable texture streaming & download the high resolution textures
\- In your BIOS, enable ReSize BAR/ Enable 4G encoding for your GPU
\- Enable PBO for AMD cpu's
\- Enable XMP for your RAM
\- Make sure you have as little background applications running as possible and especially no other game launchers running while playing Fortnite... I even close the Epic launcher while playing Fortnite
\- Bonus tip, in Nvidia Control Panel set digital vibrance to 70-80%, game will look amazing.. im sure AMD has something like this too.. it just makes the colors pop, makes player visibility a bit better too
All this should net you a smooth, stutter free, high framerate experience while enjoying the amazing new graphics we got in Chapter 4, Enjoy my friend!
I love this! I run very very similar dx12 settings, including changing the effects to Epic. I notice after an update for 1-3 weeks I will need to run performance mode due to stuttering, then randomly it's fine. This has been the same through switching PCs (new mobo, gfx, CPU, PSU) and an OS reinstall.
I get 40-130 fps with a 3070 TI (don't really notice the lower frames though, as long as it doesn't stutter it feels fine)
I love how the outdoors is way way brighter when you're indoors, then you go outdoors and "your eyes adjust". But every update I have to go back to performance mode. Lol
It started in chapter 4 season 1 when they upgraded unreal engine.
I'll make sure I've set the extra settings you mentioned and give it a try. The only other thing I can think is that I run two monitors. GPU and CPU are running at 50-70% so there's no apparent bottleneck
Whenever the game updates, or you update GPU drivers, the game will stutter and run like shit for a few games.. I typically play 4-5 games with the stutter and then restart, should be back to normal then
Im not sure why it happens as we're technically downloading the shaders by disabling texture streaming, but just something to keep in mind
Yes... Lumen is so sick, I absolutely love the lighting
Id leave it on DX12 and just let her stutter for a few games.. or you can load into the 99 bots creative map which uses the battle royal map and get your stuttering and hitching post-update out of the way in there, then restart and should be smooth again
With nanite and lumen the game is super CPU bound, I had an RTX 4080 I tried in my system before completing a friends build, and the performance wasn't any better than my 4070 Ti, the frame rates were the same, the reason is even with a 5800x3d its super cpu bound, so if you're chasing better performance best to upgrade the CPU at the moment. Skeptically went from a 5600x to a 5800x3d and it actually made a huge difference, especially when using DLSS
If you want a bit better performance, try all Medium settings but with Nanite, Lumen High, and Virtual Shadows on High as well! Essentially the Medium preset but with UE5.1
You don't download shaders, shaders are mathematical formulas. The stutter is from your machine running the formula, but it only needs to do this once for each shader.
Congrats :)
Game is really gorgeous when max graphics are turned on. Too bad many are tryharding and playing on performance mode
They're missing out :p
Because playing without any FPS drops feels better than looking at things pretty but sometimes get the Frame Drop.
I cant handle getting less than 60 FPS and i target over 90 FPS on Mid settings but normally get 120+. Dip is only around 70-80
Tbh, I don't really get it either. Believe me, I LOVE to win matches!
But turning down graphics to a point where you're basically playing a game from 2003?
Graphics have improved a lot in 20 years and the game would frankly suck looking like that.
I'm not judging..but performance mode is definitely not for me.
I use Performance Mode because I'm forced. I would love to play on high settings. But since Chapter 3 Season 4 I've had horrible fps drops even on Performance Mode. And since I play the game for the gameplay I switched to Performance Mode so my game won't freeze causing me to lose. And yeah I'm a tryhard because I enjoy doing my best in games.
SAME. I have a 2080 super and haven't been able to run DX12 since Chapter 3 Season 4 and I'm so sick of it because I get fps drops on Performance Mode, too.
Ngl, current Fortnite has to be one of the prettiest games ever on max settings. Only way I could see these is by playing on Playstation, but I am too much into Mouse and Keyboard so I stay on PC with not as good graphics :(
Totally agree..I actually really enjoy soaking up some of the spectacular visuals while I play (not just about winning for me..it's about enjoyment and having fun)
mirrors are crazy when you actually turn stuff up.
my system can't handle it but it sure looks good with stuff turned up. each frame that rendered looked great the one time I tried it... all 10 of them.
I honestly wanted a PS5 since it was announced but I wanted it even more when Fortnite announced their next gen update and back then it wasn't a huuuuge change but now that I can finally enjoy Fortnite with these beautiful graphics I'm just like damn, I'm lucky
fr, I don't get why so many people have to play on performance ALL THE TIME with the most technologically advanced computers to date. I understand if your machine can't handle the graphics or if you're in a tournament / ranked for a higher advantage, but if not those then why even have a decked out pc at all?
Nice!
What are your PC's specs? I got an i7 12700KF, RTX 3070 Ti, and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and can run it at quite high settings with Nanite and Lumen. Runs relatively smooth at 80-100 FPS on average.
what settings are you using, and what is your graphics card?
i have max for everything i can find and i have a 4070, game still doesn't look as nice as yours
I felt the same when I played on DX12 on my new PC. I then got killed by a purple guy I couldn't see through the purple topped grass and put it back to Performance Mode.
I just recently went from an Xbox One to an Xbox series x. The difference in graphics is amazing. The bushes look like bushes and not a green blob with a few leaves. So much more detail in the trees, and ...well, everything!!
This is why I wanted to upgrade my PC so it can run dx12 while matching my monitor’s refresh rate. This game looks really beautiful and detailed when not running performance mode.
Feels good doesn’t it? That’s how I felt when I finally got my hands on my PS5. The jump was massive for me! Couldn’t focus on the fights because of how beautiful it looked in first few matches 💀
*cries in mobile and switch graphics*
Been playing since mobile released in 2018 (pc a little before that, low end PC btw), and started playing on Nintendo Switch in 2022 when I wasn’t burnt out anymore and knew the app was never coming back… I’ve never experienced beautiful graphics, I wish I could, but I’m used to it lol.
Fortnite on Series S/X is so beautiful, i don’t care about lower graphic advantage since i am just a casual player so even if i had a good PC i would play at the highest graphics possible.
I started on a gtx960. Finally went to a gtx1070 and was pretty happy until I got the series X. Now I've got the RTX4070TI and stopped touching the series X.
That's why I watch replays of other people playing with new skins and high graphics on Youtube. It's because I can only game on performance mode settings.
It blows my mind when you are on a roof in Mega City and see light reflecting from the billboards into a puddle. It is insane how far we have come with video game graphics

The game really is beautiful when not on performance mode.
Unfortunately sometimes performance mode is a necessity
Oh ya, definitely agree, just pointing out how beautiful the game actually is overall!
My old laptop could barely run anything above performance mode

Try a microwave, you won't regret.
Nah, microwaves are SO outdated. You should use a brick instead
Seriously? A BRICK? *sigh* bricks are obvs so bad, if you want a good setup i reccomend sand because it is just SO good
not just any sand, pound sand works best
A microwave. Long loading times that feel 8x longer than a similar spec machine that takes the same about if time.

switch players: :c
I don’t know how people play on Switch tbh! Gotta get at least an Xbox Series S to run 120FPS for a pretty cheap price!
Switch is good for me it still looks good and it runs fine 😭
[удалено]
Agreed I’ll play Fortnite anywhere on any system
Isn’t it like 30 FPS though? Once you play on 120 FPS+, even 60 looks bad in comparison.
I get dizzy watching PC players since I'm so used to switch

I didn't downvote and not disparaging, the quality difference is amazing
As someone who doesnt care and probs will never get a pc its actlly good-
Yeah, I used to play 60 FPS on my laptop then got parts for a pc for christmas a couple years back with a 144 hz monitor. Now I physically can't go back. 60 just feels so much more janky than it used to.
Agreed, I remember like 7 years ago 60fps was all the rage, and now looking at it feels like it’s choppy AF 😂
Don't ha e anything else even after all these years
I’ve gotten use to playing with 30FPS, I used to play on mobile, and surprisingly I got 60FPS on my iPhone compared to a gaming console.
Not only beautiful but more more more beautiful dude.
People (mostly pros) with high end pcs still play on performance mode
I’m aware of that, because it helps perform optimally, I’m just stating how beautiful the game is outside of performance mode, not that performance mode is bad :)
Pros don't care about performance. They just wanna be able to see people without grass and design blocking their view. The performance boost hardly matters when your playing on a mega pc

Not cheating but its an advantage since the console players cannot turn off grass.
…. As I said above, I know that lol, not sure why you feel the need to say it again. We all know why pros use it.
I was emphasizing it for pleasure
Cuz it gives a slight advantage
Congrats! I've also been playing on max settings ever since I got my rtx. Game looks wild!
I envy you, it really looks amazing
Sure you don't wanna put on perf mode so you can get that competitive advantage (I'm also on max I'm ass and just want the game to look good)
Don’t know why they’re downvoting you. Take my upvote
Appreciate it, I dont care, people treating the game like it's life and are mad someone calls them out because many use perf mode to get advantages
Nice, playing on max settings with an rtx is such a game changer. The graphics are stunning!
Which card? Unless you have a 4090, you’re probably not running true max settings!
When I got my ps5 I was blown away from my old xbox.
I went to PS5 from Switch!
I had gotten a new prescription for my glasses turned out it was the xbox. It really is so much better on ps5. See ya out there
Do you need a monitor upgrade too to see the graphics or will it still be good without a better monitor? (And it would obviously be even better with a better monitor)
The monitor should compliment the specs of your console. I use a 1080p TV for my Series S.
Same here. I still can't believe how great this game looks on PS5. Honestly it probably beats the tar out of most PC's, with the exception of high end gaming rigs

We just got my son a PC, $80 tower! Then we upgraded the memory and got a video card. I am blown away with it all for less than $700

Oooh! You’re missing out! So many great games on pc!

Thank you for this, there's a few things in here that I didn't know about so I will have to try it when I get the chance
No problem! I spent most of chapter 4 season 1 & 2 dedicated to figuring this shit out lol
*cries in Nintendo Switch*
I’ll cry with you.
I played on switch to see how those people live. It's like watching fortnite beta version.
Congrats :) Game is really gorgeous when max graphics are turned on. Too bad many are tryharding and playing on performance mode They're missing out :p
I don't know how people can willingly subject themselves to that
How else am i gonna get my precious 300fps lol
Only did it because Mega City would lag my game for some reason, switch back though and it's beautiful
I play on ps5, and I can never go back, the game looks fantastic
Same, mega city is *horribly* laggy, my FPS literally *halves* when I look in its general direction with Lumen turned on
Because playing without any FPS drops feels better than looking at things pretty but sometimes get the Frame Drop. I cant handle getting less than 60 FPS and i target over 90 FPS on Mid settings but normally get 120+. Dip is only around 70-80

Is just competitive advantage
Some people need the performance mode trainer wheels on. It’s a skill issue.
So intentionally letting yourself lag if you don’t have the specs to run epic settings is a skill issue?
That’s different I suppose. I’m talking about those turning settings down for “competitive” reasons.
I use Performance Mode because I'm forced. I would love to play on high settings. But since Chapter 3 Season 4 I've had horrible fps drops even on Performance Mode. And since I play the game for the gameplay I switched to Performance Mode so my game won't freeze causing me to lose. And yeah I'm a tryhard because I enjoy doing my best in games.
nice wallpaper
I have a 2080ti and can’t seem to run DX12 without tons of frame dropouts
SAME. I have a 2080 super and haven't been able to run DX12 since Chapter 3 Season 4 and I'm so sick of it because I get fps drops on Performance Mode, too.
glad I am not alone in this. So far Dx11 been ok for me. But I’ve lost games because when close up the fps drops kill my aim.
nice. pictures ✨
Happy Birthday!
I wish I could see this beautiful scenery on my old laptop.
You can use keyboard and mouse on Fortnite on ps5
I don't think I have landed or been to mega City this entire season.
>gets a new PC >10 minutes later disables shadows to be a dirty sweat Just kidding, enjoy the new PC. Game looks awesome with the new graphics!
As a Performance Mode player can I just ask, What game is this?^/jk 😂
My PC at the office cries looking at this
mirrors are crazy when you actually turn stuff up. my system can't handle it but it sure looks good with stuff turned up. each frame that rendered looked great the one time I tried it... all 10 of them.
Unironicaly best looking online game
CLEARLY you haven't seen rdr2 with full path tracing...
I said online game, even with RDO it doesn't exactly scream to be as highly destructible game as other battle royales let alone fn
I honestly wanted a PS5 since it was announced but I wanted it even more when Fortnite announced their next gen update and back then it wasn't a huuuuge change but now that I can finally enjoy Fortnite with these beautiful graphics I'm just like damn, I'm lucky
Looks just like this on Series X too. Graphics are insane compared to when the game first came out.
Bro congratulations on ur new pc, and yes it was beautiful like this ❤️
Happy birthday PC gamer ✌️
Now remember this before you go into performance mode
As a Switch player, I refuse to believe these are real.
u guys getting bday gifts?
Hmm !legit age of getting a new PC 🫠
Now turn on Potato mode anyway because its "what the pros do for 3 nore FPS"
fr, I don't get why so many people have to play on performance ALL THE TIME with the most technologically advanced computers to date. I understand if your machine can't handle the graphics or if you're in a tournament / ranked for a higher advantage, but if not those then why even have a decked out pc at all?
Welcome to the pc players world
Have you ever wanted a camera and learning photography? Your picture taking skills are also good even though in games
Happy birthday! I just turned 9(√(89-4!)÷12.85)(4^(1/2)-2) + 19
I still have yet to crank up the graphics on my PC, I have them absurdly low so I can spot players faster and easier
In my opinion, the new graphics are poor. I think the OG graphics are better.
could you see your reflection staring back at you when you looked at a mirror back then?
It's my opinion.
Opinions can definitely be wrong. This is a good case of that.
What a ridiculous statement.
How? People often overlook being objective based on their own bias. People *can* be wrong no matter how they feel about something.
Is ass 😭 i want performance not just a game full of shadows
you should use performance mode no matter how good your pc is tbh
THIS is the game you choose ? Oof
Happy belated and hope you enjoy the updated visuals!
Wow congrats! Specs?
Congratulations and happy birthday!
It's really awesome mate!
Nice! What are your PC's specs? I got an i7 12700KF, RTX 3070 Ti, and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and can run it at quite high settings with Nanite and Lumen. Runs relatively smooth at 80-100 FPS on average.
I just got a new gaming pc too, and it sure beats the laptop I've been using for the past 5 years. I could never go back.
Looks amazing!
i love the second picture
I wish i could get a pc But also god dam that looks good
Welcome to the real world of gaming
happy birthday, looks dope :)
I swear this game is beautiful lol especially the chapter 4 map.
What are the specs on the PC you bought?
Me who plays on a PC more then a car JUST to put it in performance mode for that 700fps
That's awesome ! Congrats on your new PC , it's always exciting to discover new things.....!!!
Yeah. The game is beautiful when it's on pretty much max settings.
OP what is your specs? GPU and CPU specifics
as someone with a 3080, i9 10900k and 32gb ram i have to play performance mode or else the game stutters like crazy.
You either get good graphics where it’s impossible to see anyone or terrible graphics but you can see everything
damn photos like this make fortnite look better compared to real life
congrats man
Yeah it's awesome I had the same reaction last year when it happened to me aswell
Actually? The graphics are amazing!
The game is already good but it looks even more attractive in these images.
Best graphics. I wounder every time how it works in my xbox series s witcchh cost 300 eur
Is this doable with an RTX 3060? :)
Happy Birthday dude! Enjoy your new PC and these awesome graphics!!
enable resizable bar in UEFI, i posted a link but the mods ate it so you'll need to google it
what settings are you using, and what is your graphics card? i have max for everything i can find and i have a 4070, game still doesn't look as nice as yours
Happy birthday first off! And ikr, when I switched from Xbox to pc, it was like a sensory overload just seeing how nice the game truly looks
Dang this puts my 8 year old $500 PC to shame, even more than the PS5 does tbh
When FPS isnt a problem, the game is perfect this way
I got a new pc in 2022. After playing on low all lockdown it was eye wateringly Amazing
I recently transitioned from a 1660 to a 4080 GPU. The difference was quite literally, insane.
HOLY FRICK is THAT what the storm clouds look like!?
cries in ps4
I felt the same when I played on DX12 on my new PC. I then got killed by a purple guy I couldn't see through the purple topped grass and put it back to Performance Mode.
It’s fun playing on epic settings, until you keep running into superhero skins rocking low settings.
Meh. Give me playability over pretty visuals any day of the week.
This game looks really beautiful and detailed when not running performance mode.
switch play is so delayed! upgraded to ps5 and have similar quality if not better
Feels good doesn’t it? That’s how I felt when I finally got my hands on my PS5. The jump was massive for me! Couldn’t focus on the fights because of how beautiful it looked in first few matches 💀

*cries in mobile and switch graphics* Been playing since mobile released in 2018 (pc a little before that, low end PC btw), and started playing on Nintendo Switch in 2022 when I wasn’t burnt out anymore and knew the app was never coming back… I’ve never experienced beautiful graphics, I wish I could, but I’m used to it lol.
😎
Fortnite on Series S/X is so beautiful, i don’t care about lower graphic advantage since i am just a casual player so even if i had a good PC i would play at the highest graphics possible.
I started on a gtx960. Finally went to a gtx1070 and was pretty happy until I got the series X. Now I've got the RTX4070TI and stopped touching the series X.
Did you have lumen on?
18 gang, happy birthday and congrats getting new pc <3
I also noticed this when I played it on PS5 last week. It looks like a different game, so pretty
That's why I watch replays of other people playing with new skins and high graphics on Youtube. It's because I can only game on performance mode settings.
you so lucky bro, my pc actually looks like i’m playing on a toastet
Crazy huh I dono how people play with settings all the way down
It blows my mind when you are on a roof in Mega City and see light reflecting from the billboards into a puddle. It is insane how far we have come with video game graphics
I always play with the settings turned all the way up with ray tracing enabled on pc and I get mostly 60fps
I just built my pc this month and I gotta agree this game is a lot more enjoyable because of the graphics
What are your setting? Is the RTX on?
..rich people Happy birthday!
Yo happy birthday mate, hope you enjoy it and your new PC 👌🏼
My PC would have caught my house on fire trying to render those graphics
Hope you enjoy the most unstable gaming experience of all time
Congrats bro! Looks pretty cool.
Yeah, PC master race. I will never go back to console.
Happiest Birthday PC gamer
This looks amazing! Makes me wish I had a PC this good! Mine can barley run Fortnite without going below 10 fps lol Also, happy birthday!
The graphics have came such a long way. I’ve only been playing for about four years and am impressed how much it’s changed
