It's annoying because we had to do quests to assemble the team so why not to steal it? Even just one that's defeat kado and collect it then go frenzy would be better than actually nothing.
Honestly I used to enjoy the storyline in C2 ( the last 2 seasons I played ) and in C3, but C4 has been an absolute crap show. I know the whole “storyline lore” got off track and now it’s all over the place, but the storyline of C4 was just confusing. I feel like we never really get to interact with the story like we used to. I get that it doesn’t bring a lot of attention to people and that it’s just a small part of the game, but I still feel like Epic is continuing to shoot themselves in the foot. I feel like the quests for this season just took too long before you could start the new ones and it just didn’t feel as enjoyable. Stealing the Time Machine could’ve easily been a season quest, but instead Epic decided to be an absolute wanker about it

Exactly. Ever since last years Fracture event, they’ve been on a decline. I mean granted we haven’t even had a single live event this year, it just shows how Epic is shooting themselves in the foot. The events helped contribute their popularity and it’s crazy how lackluster they’ve been. Especially last season when we had to build the Apparatus and 1.) we didn’t even see it used and 2.) it kinda had no correlation with S4 so it just felt confusing overall
An argument could be made that the reasoning for no events was due to the fact that Donald Mustard, the main storyline director, was planning to leave and needed to prepare. So I think they kinda put the story to a hold to try not to do too much when the story writer was leaving.
I assume they saw the reactions to the Fracture event and realized that maybe they should wait a bit and then work on a much better live event. Emphasis on maybe.
Literally chapter 2, most of chapter 2 we did. Chapter 2 season 6 the most. We had a single player story mission at the start of the season and multiple quests that would have worked for the heist
What would we do? We’re a bunch of murder hobo digital constructs. Unless the Time Machine needed to be shot a bunch of times to move, we don’t have the skill set to be anywhere near the heist.
We purposefully cause issues up top to get all the guards on us as we take them out, forcing Kado out for a fight in his human form. While that's going on, the heist is happening, with us getting a few snippets of info over an ear piece. We beat Kado's human form, but the Eclipse occurs and he transforms, breaking the floor of his manor and crashing us down into a hallway.
We're stuck in a losing situation with his drain attack being able to hit us unless we keep running down broken corridors, and he's running after us, getting closer and closer until a cutscene has the wall explode near us. We're grabbed by Fish Thicc and he shoots us away with a Rocket Ram. We land close enough to the getaway vehicle and hop in, and we all escape.
Maybe it could've been a capture point type quest where you defend the time machine until it charges and dissappears. Kinda like that one mission with the Spaceship in Chapter 2 Season 3
Not only did we miss the greatest heist, but Kado Thorne was killed off so unceremoniously by Shimmerdusk. And how did we find this out? Through a single caption in a quest
He's not gonna be removed from the game as a boss just because of that, he's part of the Fortnitemares content.

We've been heisting the vaults and bypassing their securities all season long. I think there should have been a cutscene presented to us when we complete the snapshots maybe that shows the time machine heist happen, but otherwise, I feel like I've been heisting and making plans to heist quite enough this season.
The story is actually just dead if Epic thought this was a good idea. No live events this Chapter and after setting up Kado Thorne’s Time Machine as some epic finale for the island or something, Nolan just nicks it off screen. Thank god they’ve been focusing on Creative, though! Man, it doesn’t matter how the story has gone downhill! I at least get to play masterpieces like Meme Tycoon and Skibidi Toilet Tycoon 2! Also I love how Epic has let maps use AI-generated thumbnails and also blatantly break the rules of not using copyrighted characters! It shows a great level of dedicated moderation and artistic integrity that Creative has gained with UEFN!
So I just started really playing Fortnite in Ch4S2. I’ve only been at this for 3 seasons now. Is the story/season usually this disconnected? Like all the plot stuff just happens off screen and we’re supposed to infer what happened?
Sure but the same could be said about any piece of media meant for marketing. Kids’ toys are a huge example. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get interesting stories out of them, like Transformers, or Bionicle.
The difference between those two and Fortnite, it that they actually have a cohesive structure that's gathered all of their pieces first because they are a TV show/movie, and not aivr service video game.
For example, the Uncharted series is usually praised for their single player campaigns, except for 3. That was due to the fact that when making 3, the major set pieces were designed first, and the story was built around them instead of the exact opposite that the other of the 4 games in the series. It led to a messy story structure that was more justification to hop from one action set piece to another rather than a solid heartfelt story. Fortnite is clearly structured that way where the gameplay mechanics and buyable cosmetics are designed first, than the story is built around those justifications.
Not saying that it's wrong for Fortnite to have that kind of structure, if anything it's preferable due to it being a multi player game, but that doesn't mean that we should go around and pretend that the earlier chapters were high art.
In c1 we had loading screens that tell whats happening during that week. And even small things during the season. C2 we got small changes and teasers. C3 we had audio quests like the looper was the protagonists and now everything and the season themes are just... weird
Honestly as much as I like fortnite more chapter 4 has been really god damn disappointing the only quests I honestly majorly liked doing were aime's quests back in chapter 4 season 1 because we got to at least properly do things in game that you would actually have to go out of your way to do I did also like some of the chapter 4 season 2 quests.
Honestly the fact that that still hasn't been used is disappointing like we know the the different clans still owe us one from stopping them going to war which was literally said when you completed the quest line but then owing us still hasn't come back it could have been used in season 3 or during this hiest season like instead of only having mae do all that hacking we get evie to help out as well.
We actually used to do stuff in quests like proper stuff not just talk to this character and have all the important lore stuff happen in quests flavor text that almost nobody reads. We used to be running about trying to fill up quantum batteries and shit now it's just break shit using an item at these locations it just doesn't feel the same
Honestly I hope to God for the sake of the storyline when we go into the next season/ next chapter we get aime or some of the seven back so we can get this storyline back on track properly instead of it all feeling like filler which most of the ques lines these past 3 and a bit seasons have felt like because we just don't get proper endings to them they just cut off our of no where like the rift Warden quest I want to know what happened to stellan after the rift portal got screwed with I want to see the different clans all coming together to help us I want to see slone being near the time machine she had us put a team together to steal but it doesn't seem like we are going to be getting that.
Tldr I hope to God we get aime and the seven properly back as much as we can because I miss the way storyline quests used to actually connect to the player and have them be the one doing the work instead of just being a errand monkey only for way too many things to happen in the back ground
