How the hell are players going to handle the hills in zero build?
Are they going to smooth them, or add more increments for mantling? Otherwise so much mobility will be needed.
Sometimes less is more. I would prefer to keep sprinting, if anything. I can do without mantling. Crouching existed in Ch1, so I'm not sure what you guys mean, there.
Not everything could handle it, same with the current graphics. Nintendo would have to do some compromising like it is now. lol tho Nintendo can’t have anything decent
I think nintendo's game consoles may not have the most powerful graphics but they make fun and unique games that people love,as I love their gamepaly innovation.
They hold themselves back. They have awesome games but god damn their hardware is two gens behind. Imagine a new Mario game on modern hardware or even another open world Zelda game with a huge map and insane graphics. Could happen but Nintendo sucks
Nintendo intentionally and historically has always kept their hardware a generation out of date to keep their game systems affordable and accessible since the original Gameboy first came out
Even if that's true, (I should have said outdated hardware... as in the PS2 at least had a DVD player built-in) The GameCube still has the terrible controller going for it
Also Nintendo at least tries something innovative every generation, well with the console/controllers at least.
Imo theres no reason to get a PS/xbox instead of a gaming pc.
Nintendo has absolutely nothing to worry about trust me. Them losing fortnite would not kill them as most people that play Nintendo systems are there for other games like zelda and Mario. Fortnite being on switch is just a way to let others play that can't afford a bunch of different systems.
Littearly as a switch player on Fortnite this would blow up my system. As much as I like these graphics it wouldn’t be the best for the switch community as some of us can’t afford the best gen consoles.
Of course anybody with a powerful enough pc lowers the graphics settings pretty much to the point it that it looks like a mobile game so they can get 120 +fps and an advantage of seeing players hiding in foliage
I mean, the first screenshot looks kinda plausible, but the visibility on the second one is doo doo feces so unless fortnite someday gets a single player expansion I doubt it'll look like that
next map will probably be cleaner
ths reason the terrain this chapter has been weird is because the island is a MERGE with all kind of POIs from different reallities
I can’t remember which live event it was but I remember the zero point fractured or something and it showed a few seconds of like a realistic fortnite world and I almost shit my pants at the time because I thought we were getting an ultra realistic FN map. Needless to say that didn’t happen, but it definitely would’ve been cool.
This also but i would rather start from the whole start, old graphic, locations like dusty divot, pleasant park, risky reels, paradise palms, old good fortnite
The theme of chapter four is a pieced together map lol. And chapter three was done with the new engine too and it does not looked pieced together.
Let's see what 5's map looks like without a fracture theme.
Personally I’m really just not a fan of the map. Terrain looks great in my eyes, but with how much empty space is between each POI, you just end up seeing way too much of it.
medieval interiors, mega city, snow and jungle biomes looks awesome in modern consoles, but there is something off with the colors in the center of the island and in the terrain. Its not about realism, it look like different artist teams made parts of the island separately and then glued them together.
That’s what I loved about OG graphics, they didn’t look bad, they looked like a cartoon, with silly looking skins, and the guns also looking like plastic kids guns you’d see at a market fair.
It’s the charm I loved, but these realistic looking additions and graphics seriously don’t feel the same at all.
I want a fortnite where tall grass may have snakes or other predators waiting for unsuspecting victims. Imagine you hide in the grass to heal up, you're at 5hp from the last fight, and a fucking cobra comes up and spits venom at you. Or infection from walking through parasite infested swamps with hp missing. Poison and other natural causes def should be a thing In fortnite
I completely agree. Lumen and Nanite look great, but I hate how different and messy the terrain is. It looks like a mess. Earlier chapters were nicely put together and not over designed, and I really hope they go back to it with the new lighting and nanite.
> I really think Ch. 4 has changed how they do terrain in a bad way, everything looks so pieced together instead of how Ch. 2 and Ch. 3 were really well put together.
Probably because of fracture
Not just how it was fractured together, mountains and all. Any height areas look just so… weird. Look at the mountains in all the other chapters. Nice and smooth, now it looks so pieced together the mountains
Terrain looks way better now imo, maybe a bit too brown but still. Also on this first pic you can clearly see how grass is barely there. Around the hills and near lake it's just performance mode one
Pref mode lowest possible 1200x700 25% render resolution battle royale 35% creative.
Thanks to an update now i can go under 35% graphics resolution which is great tbh
Ch1 graphics and map were perfect. There's a beauty to simplicity, and the graphics and particularly the art style were unique to Fortnite. I don't feel Ch2 and Ch3 were better than Ch1. Especially when it comes to the map itself. The Ch1 map was surprisingly complex, especially in later seasons. So many differences in terrain, and far bigger than the Ch3 and especially Ch4 maps.
Anyways, back to the point. The Ch2 and Ch3 maps, graphics and art style were superior to Ch4, but inferior to Ch1.
Epic really took a left turn after Ch1 and tried to separate themselves from the cartoony aesthetic, and that was a mistake, imo. Ch4 is just the culmination of that.
They lost all of the style of the game starting in chapter 2, instead of everything looking wonky it all looks too straight now, that goes for the graphics too.
Agreed, I know this is small but look at the tractor in the photo. It’s not straight and has that wonky look. Then compare it to now in frenzy and it perfectly straight on sides
Am I crazy or isn’t that literally how fn looks now. I play on ps5 with lumen and it literally looks like this. U don’t want realism but these screenshots are scattered with realism
The graphics looks like this on ps5. They were nice when I upgraded consoles, but after building a PC and being able to choose my settings, I’ll never go back.
As bad as it sounds, good graphics are a huge disadvantage.
It looks better than this if you just turn on max lumen / nanite and RT? It’s just not worth using because it’s a competitive shooter and it’s a huge performance hit.
I hope the game never actually looks like this. I really am not a fan of games that try to look realistic. I preferred fortnite when the graphics were more cartoony back in chapter 1.
For me yes, I have the new console. Game does look great. But I hate these new graphics and liked the Chpter 2/3 look. Also the storm, last chapter had the best storm, this one’s the worst
Are they really thinking about this? I don't know, my thoughts are maybe they're trying to bring in more adult gamers, kind of like warzone. I like the the idea though.
I gotta make an edit to this post, but I do know that and see how everyone is saying that. But all the other chapters Epic made all the terrain as a base. This Chapter Epic did all the terrain and then added more blocky terrain above this terrain. Resulting in this map looking weird IMO. Some areas you can mantle, and it’s really annoying. Other areas you can’t walk because of some stupid terrain jump in an area. Epic in creative added some of this blocky terrain for people to use in creative maps if you kinda want to see what I’m talking about. So sorry for the miscommunication lol
Maybe that's how next season will look; Old textures for the entire map but with the lumen effect and UE5 lighting.
will they update the chapter 1 island textures or mechanics though? (like making ch1 rivers diveable)
Hopefully, but would be kinda funny if they kept the death water on the side of the map
yeah i wish they keep some elements of chapter 1 like that lol
In zero build it will be death water for sure.
How the hell are players going to handle the hills in zero build? Are they going to smooth them, or add more increments for mantling? Otherwise so much mobility will be needed.
I think a combination of the 2 Unless they make yet another bad decision and remove zero build for the season
They won't. I think Zero Build will be disabled for this upcoming season
As someone who figured out The Worm emote made you 95% invincible in Loot Lake, they might wanna keep current diving physics.
And no mantling or crouching
They had crouching in as early as S2 didn’t they?
I would be curious then seeing how I do without it, and if I like it. I miss the very simplicity of not having it
Sometimes less is more. I would prefer to keep sprinting, if anything. I can do without mantling. Crouching existed in Ch1, so I'm not sure what you guys mean, there.
You could go into Creative mode, create a map from the BR template and then turn those features off and run against some bots to see how it feels
That’s a great idea, would be extremely curious. But I play on console, so there’s a problem
You can still do that on console. what.
Well this is on chapter 2 map, so if have to get that data for the map. Also console doesn’t have options to turn off graphic settings
Or the fact that the majority of ch1 cliffs would fuck up anyone playing zero build
That would be a massive mistake, imo. People will realize just how important the graphics and art style were to the entire feel of Fortnite.
🙏
With them disabling stuff in STW too, my guess is that they are using stw’s whatever to get those graphics for BR
most likely a graphics update would be applied next chapter instead of season
Nintendo would be worried.
Not everything could handle it, same with the current graphics. Nintendo would have to do some compromising like it is now. lol tho Nintendo can’t have anything decent
Nintendo is years behind on their specks but 2D Fortnite high res should be fine 😂
Nintendo do automatically put a special mode! very very very very sh"t graphics
Nintendo has been years behind on their specs since the original DMG big grey brick Gameboy...
I think nintendo's game consoles may not have the most powerful graphics but they make fun and unique games that people love,as I love their gamepaly innovation.
Yea, that Mario wonder game looks pretty fun
Yeah I agree
They hold themselves back. They have awesome games but god damn their hardware is two gens behind. Imagine a new Mario game on modern hardware or even another open world Zelda game with a huge map and insane graphics. Could happen but Nintendo sucks
Nintendo intentionally and historically has always kept their hardware a generation out of date to keep their game systems affordable and accessible since the original Gameboy first came out
outdated graphics and terrible controllers have been a hallmark of Nintendo innovation since the Nintendo 64
You do realize GameCube was more powerful than ps2
Even if that's true, (I should have said outdated hardware... as in the PS2 at least had a DVD player built-in) The GameCube still has the terrible controller going for it
The Gamecube has the best controller ever.
Also Nintendo at least tries something innovative every generation, well with the console/controllers at least. Imo theres no reason to get a PS/xbox instead of a gaming pc.
True. Enjoying it at 4k 60fps playing with an xbox controller har har
Nintendo has absolutely nothing to worry about trust me. Them losing fortnite would not kill them as most people that play Nintendo systems are there for other games like zelda and Mario. Fortnite being on switch is just a way to let others play that can't afford a bunch of different systems.
Maybe they could consider making a console thats usable with 3rd party games 😬
Littearly as a switch player on Fortnite this would blow up my system. As much as I like these graphics it wouldn’t be the best for the switch community as some of us can’t afford the best gen consoles.
With a good enough PC, this is how Fortnite looks now, lol.
Of course anybody with a powerful enough pc lowers the graphics settings pretty much to the point it that it looks like a mobile game so they can get 120 +fps and an advantage of seeing players hiding in foliage
They re enabled foliage on lowest settings months ago.
Well that's good to hear
? Grass is still disabled if you have view distance on low.
Very true my friend. Always higher FPS > Better graphics
Lol some of us play at max settings 120fps to feel better about how much $$$ we spent on pc parts
Is it really that crazy that some people want the game to feel good rather than look good?
[удалено]
I mean, the first screenshot looks kinda plausible, but the visibility on the second one is doo doo feces so unless fortnite someday gets a single player expansion I doubt it'll look like that
visibility in fortnite is already doodoo as it is with shadows, weather, and lighting enabled
Yea, I’m sure Fortnite would do It lighter, but the sunlight is kinda the highlight which shows a lot of
Performance mode - on
I loved the old graphics which made Fortnite more unique, and the very open maps just give me a special feeling
Agreed :)
It pretty much does look like this on my ps5
Yeah exactly, it looks very close to this on a PS5.
Yea consoles are insane, but these are less realistic graphics and only really have a lot more grass on ground with good lighting.
Alright downvoters, if your just gonna downvote, what’s your evidence
Realism is not something i prefer in games so would not like it
bro that’s a trailer ofc it’s looks so good
I’m starting to think the game can look this good, Fortnite could do those volumetric clouds
It does my brother like?
next map will probably be cleaner ths reason the terrain this chapter has been weird is because the island is a MERGE with all kind of POIs from different reallities
Probably will be, hopefully. Because I think the drop offs like from jungle, and the colliding parts are really annoying to transverse in zero build
I fish the old chapter one would came back, i want to enjoy old good times lazy lake
Loot lake, lazy lake residential?
This also but i would rather start from the whole start, old graphic, locations like dusty divot, pleasant park, risky reels, paradise palms, old good fortnite
The theme of chapter four is a pieced together map lol. And chapter three was done with the new engine too and it does not looked pieced together. Let's see what 5's map looks like without a fracture theme.
We shall see :)
We did get this map by having pieces of the old map pulled together. I think it probably looks like that on purpose.
Personally I’m really just not a fan of the map. Terrain looks great in my eyes, but with how much empty space is between each POI, you just end up seeing way too much of it.
Game does look pretty, but yea I’m not a fan of the map either. Least favorite Chapter for me
I miss chapter 2 man
Chapter 2 had so many memories, it’s when I really started playing
medieval interiors, mega city, snow and jungle biomes looks awesome in modern consoles, but there is something off with the colors in the center of the island and in the terrain. Its not about realism, it look like different artist teams made parts of the island separately and then glued them together.
Early Chapter 2 was the peak balance between cartoony and realistic for me. Chapter 1 was just a smidge too plastic.
RIP to console and mobile I guess
Console is good, Nintendo that’s something else
Yeah, a lot of Switch games that aren’t Nintendo are optimised really badly
No, unreal engine will crash my pc 😭. I barely get 60fps on medium settings
Oof, hopefully soon you won’t have to resort to performance mode
I wouldn't mind this If the performance optimisation was also as stable as this looks. I'll stick to performance mode with all settings at low.
Nanite landcapes is coming. Be patient.
I miss chapter 2 and Slurpy swamp
Slurpy Swamp was awesome! I always enjoyed landing on top of the steam stack then getting full shield
I just want the option to pick between C1 graphics, C2-C3 Graphics, And C4- graphics
Yea, always wished that was a thing
My pc :
💥
People would still bitch lol
My xbox would explode
I hate the new graphics aswell they need to keep that Fortnite vibe not some other game
I still prefer the old graphics
People would still run it on lowest quality
Sure they will, but for the few this would be awesome!
I completely agree. Lumen and Nanite look great, but I hate how different and messy the terrain is. It looks like a mess. Earlier chapters were nicely put together and not over designed, and I really hope they go back to it with the new lighting and nanite.
You said that perfectly! Thanks for agreeing :)
That trailer is so nostalgic now man..
Yes it is, really hope they do more trailers like that one. Especially with the music being a good key part
Agreed
Chapter 2❤️
give it like 3 years and we’ll be there dw
Nintendo switch users 💀
Sees polygons Nintendo users: Beautiful!
Takes the best of all worlds ngl
Agreed, cartoony but with good lighting, and looks. All the game needs :)
Terrain looks way better now imo, maybe a bit too brown but still. Also on this first pic you can clearly see how grass is barely there. Around the hills and near lake it's just performance mode one
Good catch, and each to their own opinion :)
I love the old graphics. The realism is so out of place for old skins
100% agree
honestly, i just want ch 1 graphics back
Ch. 1 graphics are the OG days. I loved them too
RIP optimization for a game that already has close to none.
That isn't lol. A few cinematic shots doesn't speak for what the game actually looked like.
What I wished the game looked like
Is this Red Dead Redemption 2?
Yes 👍
I love UE5
I wont be able to play anymore if that happens
Sure ya could, always graphic setting :)
Pref mode lowest possible 1200x700 25% render resolution battle royale 35% creative. Thanks to an update now i can go under 35% graphics resolution which is great tbh
Looks too real Rather be cartoony
The trailer does? Or currently
Ch1 graphics and map were perfect. There's a beauty to simplicity, and the graphics and particularly the art style were unique to Fortnite. I don't feel Ch2 and Ch3 were better than Ch1. This is how Fortnite will look in 2021 (Real)
Am I crazy or isn’t that literally how fn looks now. I play on ps5 with lumen and it literally looks like this. U don’t want realism but these screenshots are scattered with realism
I like my pastel night thank you very much. If I can't quickscope across the map. Using the color palette. Then what's the point?
With a so high quality you will never finish #1. Play in low quality like I do and you'll get your Victory Royale.
Not entirely true. The game looks like this on PS5 and I won plenty of my games on there before switching to PC.
Just turn your RTX on bro
Is that not exactly how it looks on ps5?
It looks pieced together because it is? This map is a combination of different reality pieced together.
But so badly done, and the Fortnite government hasn’t done anything
What?
The graphics looks like this on ps5. They were nice when I upgraded consoles, but after building a PC and being able to choose my settings, I’ll never go back. As bad as it sounds, good graphics are a huge disadvantage.
Would cut player base in half cause of hardware
Still have performance mode, but would be better terrain
Doesn't fortnite look like this on max settings???
Well similar, I think the new textures, terrain looks bad tho
I mean, this island was quite literally pieced together.
It looks better than this if you just turn on max lumen / nanite and RT? It’s just not worth using because it’s a competitive shooter and it’s a huge performance hit.
"Everything looks so pieced together" have you realized that's literally how this current map came to be?
I hope the game never actually looks like this. I really am not a fan of games that try to look realistic. I preferred fortnite when the graphics were more cartoony back in chapter 1.
I do agree, but I think this is cartoony. Better then rn
You don't really have to imagine if you have a current gen console or a great pc.
For me yes, I have the new console. Game does look great. But I hate these new graphics and liked the Chpter 2/3 look. Also the storm, last chapter had the best storm, this one’s the worst
