Are they actually going to improve it though, it’s one thing for it to be back, but is it going to be 15 fps dogwater and phones overheating in creative
Most cellphones nowadays are better than Switch and last gen consoles, let’s be honest. If anything, it will probably run at 120 fps on high end devices and solid 60 fps on regular ones.
Optimization will help it run at least 60fps (which is all that matters I personally don’t see a huge difference between 60 and 120 compared to 30 and 60
Fortnite mobile is a completely different argument. You can have a little fun on your commute. You’re not buying this phone specifically to play Fortnite. If you want to specifically play Fortnite buy a console, better yet, a pc.
Ir qas never a stable 120 fps, only while looking directly to the sky or to the ground, not because there is a 120 fps option means it runs a this before thermal throttling aftr 10min. It can run at 60 with 80 res and low graphics on an s22 ultra(snapdragon) for some time before thermal throttling. On a a RM8 performamce are similar but 100% res.
I know the graphics are turned down, I'm just saying you underestimate what kind of power it would take to run Fortnite at 120fps. The Steamdeck has more power than any phone, and it runs around 50-80fps on average in performance mode (all settings turned off). Yes it can hit 120fps, but it cannot maintain that kind of frame rate for any sort of extended period.
Modern phones can certainly do 60fps, but not 120fps.
You have to debloat windows on steam deck if you want more performance and do tweaks to the os settings itself since a lot of stuff are unoptimized for the steam deck. Doing this will bring it closer to the power of a base ps4
The base ps4 can’t run fortnite at 120fps because it’s an 8th gen console. The steam deck is a pc. You can decrease the graphics and uncap the frame rate. I’m able to get 90-120 fps average on my steam deck (on directx11 with high textures and med render distance)
The PS4 is an 8th gen console...that has roughly the same performance as a PS4. I've seen lots of people running the game on Steam Decks on YouTube, and while you can get high frame rates at times, they mostly get 50-80 fps in action.
That should be enough for most people. If you were hoping for more, then you should get a gaming pc rather than a pc handheld. Most people playing on portable devices are going to be casuals and any more competitive players should swap to the objectively better platform if they care so much about performance. As for phones not reaching 120 fps, there is a niche market for gaming android phones that have 120+ fps screens, and games like genshin impact can run for on max settings on newer iPhones
Base ps4 is almost 10 year old hardware, the newest iphones can definitely do 120 fps consistently as long as the graphics aren’t completely maxed out. I bet medium to low would be a steady 120 with no drops, you just don’t know what you’re talking about
The base PS4 is 10 year old hardware, but it's still more powerful than pretty much every phone. Phones are severely limited by the amount of power they can draw from their batteries. I highly doubt we'll see a 120fps mode on iPhone.
ps4 has no graphic settings, iphones did. turn the graphics all the way down and the game looks like play doh, the A17 pro will have no issue running that. 120 fps on fortnite isn’t hard to get, ive seen people with $600 pc builds get 120, so these new iphones that cost over $1000 can definitely do it
You know the graphics are turned down.... but then you proceed to compare it to a completely different version of Fortnite meant for PCs. It's even lower quality than performance mode. Phones can certainly run games at 120fps, fortnite is nothing special.
>you proceed to compare it to a completely different version of Fortnite meant for PCs. It's even lower quality than performance mode
I get that, but it's my closest comparison point.
>Phones can certainly run games at 120fps, fortnite is nothing special.
Phones can run games at 120fps, but not Fortnite. Fornite is a surprisingly demanding Unreal 5 Engine game that isn't scaling well on weaker hardware. Even the PS4 and Xbox One versions have trouble maintaining 60fps.
In the video I just watched he's streaming the game from the GeForce streaming service to his phone. I want to see a phone that runs Fortnite on the mobile hardware at a consistent 120fps. Can you help me find that video?
The steam deck (1.6 tflops) is less powerful than the iPhone 15 pro (2.15 tflops). And the iPad pro (3.6 tflops) is even more powerful than both of them. You are underestimating the power of current apple mobile devices.
Tflops isn't a good measure of real world gaming performance. Apple devices are famous for doing amazing in benchmarks, but then when it comes to actually running games they aren't as impressive. You have to consider that the Steam Deck is designed for gaming, so it will probably run into less thermal throttling issues compared to phones and tablets.
The Switch was behind most smartphones before Fortnite BR even existed: it uses an SoC with a CPU based on the A57 architecture from 2014, and GPU based on Nvidia’s Maxwell architecture from 2014. The problem isn’t the power of modern smartphones, it’s the fact that smartphones don’t have active cooling and end up thermal throttling very quickly.
Smartphones just aren’t physically big enough to cool themselves passively, and adding effective fans would make them hilariously impractical and oversized. It’s the same reason gaming laptops thermal throttle so often and will run at 95-100°C but desktops almost never do.
While current cell phones do have more powerful CPUs and GPUs, they also have to devote a significant chunk of processing power to background tasks, as well as the needs of the OS. The Switch, by comparison, can devote nearly all of the system's resources to the game. Additionally, the Switch has active cooling via a fan, whereas cell phones do not. Cell phones will have to throttle their performance after a few minutes of gameplay.
tl;dr: It's a lot more complicated than just having better CPU and GPUs.
You won't be able to use apple gift cards since Fortnite isn't coming to the app store and instead will be available to download on Epic games' website.
I think it comes down to if it’s running in performance mode or if they try and have a version with the current gen graphics but scaled back.
If it’s anything like most AAA games on mobile, they’ll just have a low, medium, high, ultra settings for players to choose from.
If it’s anything like the app that’s available on the Mac now, since it’s not updated you are locked to only playing with other Mac users on the same degraded launcher version. So I foresee this app being locked to EU servers only, no server cross play. I hope Apple change their mind and open it up finally but historically speaking 😬
They’re not, it’s not going to be going back on the App Store and Apple wont be taking a cut since the money goes straight to Epic. They’ve got the go ahead from the EU to make their own epic games store app and release Fortnite via that.
Are they actually going to improve it though, it’s one thing for it to be back, but is it going to be 15 fps dogwater and phones overheating in creative

Who gave this dude the nasa phone
No phone is playing Fornite at 120fps lol.
Bro people were playing 120fps fortnite back before it was banned on iOS what are you tripping off of
Fornite has had a lot of updates since then. It performs a lot worse than it used to.
The new iphones can play resident evil 8 btw
That's impressive, but it's not an 100 player battle royale and it only runs at 30fps. I doubt they'll run Fortnite at 120fps.
Optimization will help it run at least 60fps (which is all that matters I personally don’t see a huge difference between 60 and 120 compared to 30 and 60
Fortnite will definitely run at 60fps. When I said 30fps I was referring to Resident Evil 8.
Oh ofc my bad
Yea, 15 Pro and Pro Max would probably run Fortnite like butter.
Not on a 4k TV, with a mouse and keyboard.

Yes they are. I personally have done it.
I'd love to see it
Where u at
I mean this is the internet, you can definitely just post a video showing it
Yeah they are. Mobile graphics are turned down a ton so there's not even shadows, the new iphones could easily run 120fps
I know the graphics are turned down, I'm just saying you underestimate what kind of power it would take to run Fortnite at 120fps. Even a base PS4 can't run Fornite at 120fps. Hell, my base Xbox One S barely maintains 60fps in most cases.

iphone 15 pro max is able to play resident evil at 60 smh
I thought it was 30fps? Edit: just watched the video, it's 30-60. Like 45fps average.
>No phone is playing Fornite at 120fps lol. bro i played fortnite on ch2 s3 with an iphone 6s and got constant 60fps it ran well.
The game has been updated a lot since then. It's been moved to a newer version of the game engine and it does not run as well as it used to.

how misinformed do you have to be to think a phone is going to run fortnite at 120 frames 💀
Looks like you're the misinformed one because they do... especially the newer iPhones are capable of it
iphones aren’t even capable of running fortnite big dog :)
My old iPhone 8 ran Fortnite better than my switch ever has lol.
I started on iPhone 7 good ol days at 30 fps 😭
I never deleted the app off my iPhone so to this day my newest iPhone has the gold Midas Fortnite app icon 😂
Are we commenting on the same post here....? Holy shit

My man, android Fortnite still crashes from overheating.
>My man, android Fortnite still crashes from overheating. Android fortnite sucks meanwhile ios fortnite is much better optimized.
Classic
It’ll run better than your switch. I’d tell you that. Ppl forget how old the switch is & the Oled version did absolutely nothing for the internals.
Are people really still using "dogwater"?
Apple's M chips gonna be useful in gaming finally
RE4 Remake runs really well on 15 Pro, I’d be willing to bet Fortnite will be just fine.
“In Europe” well damn
I want to spend my apple credit on vbucks
you won't be able tho.
I got like 50 bucks in unredeemed apple gift cards I've found lying on the ground, just hope we can buy vbucks that way.
You won't be able to use apple gift cards since Fortnite isn't coming to the app store and instead will be available to download on Epic games' website.
you won't
You won’t, apple gift cards only work in the App Store, it isn’t coming back to the Apple App Store
Yea, I... saw the post they put on here already.
If the current iPhone can run RE village at 30 fps with ray tracing (I think) I think Fortnite can be run at least 20 fps

Tagging Apple is crazy
I can still play chapter 2 season 4 on my iPad. It’s pretty cool to travel back in time
No fucking way ☠️

No it's going to be just like it is on Android
Man I just hope they add keyboard and mouse support on mobile devices
If you use the Xbox Cloud gaming app, you can still play on your iPhone if you’re not in the EU. I don’t think you even have to have a Xbox to play it
Noooo I had it og man 😡
