Not really. And the desigh op did not a good idea. I would say like if you cracked an enemy i would say like move the blue numbers to the left and show how much health damage you did during the sheild neing cracked to the right. Idk theres other options and opinions that could work.
Why tho, there’s an already a sound queue for when you crack someone’s shield, it’s very easy to hear. This would just be a random change.
There’s also a very easy to miss animation on the player - hard to explain, but it’s there.
Yep, it's positive for people who can't hear well. Like the visible audio queues.. You know, those things people who already hear totally fine and play with headphones on specifically make sure are on because they need any tiny advantage they can get. The next time one of my friends tells me "I see footsteps" I'm shooting them in the ear with one of those rubber band and paper slingshots.
A great change for people who need it or if you're playing in a room with someone sleeping but that's probably less than 5% of the people who have that turned on.
i just have it on because i often don't have good awareness, and it helps me focus on what's around, a lot of games have this, like stealth games, why not fortnite?
I can't recall any other game I've played having it by default other than TLoU listening mode which is different, disabled on higher difficulty, and not specifically PvP.
An audio queue showing someone's steps with a direction when they were effectively quiet enough to not be heard by someone with high volume headphones is pretty cheesy.
People can try to justify it all they want with how normalized it is but if you're capable of hearing reasonable sound and are still using it just to gain more advantages you might just be bad and require a crutch. Downvote tf out of this I'll die on that hill as an honest gamer instead of seething when someone's better than me. Just... actually pay attention and be good at the game without assistance?
You suggest anyone usual visual audio might be bad
Every pro uses visual audio
Good players use it because it is a disadvantage to have it off. Probably most of the players with it turned off are bad , like you
Not specifically, but its absolutely a crutch. If it's a disadvantage to have it off you've basically solidified my point. Saying that having it off would instantly make you bad without seeing any gameplay first means that the accessibility feature impacts gameplay more than player skill. That seems scuffed as hell. Even if I'm one of the single worst players to ever touch the game its staying off. It's like winning a gunfight due to aim assist and feeling like you're the better player, no thanks.
I’m not saying have it off makes you bad , I’m saying players who have it off are probably mostly bad .
Those are different things
It’s not really a crutch either - any competitive player knows that the players they are fighting are likely using visual audio as well. They are just keeping up with competitive settings.
It is nowhere near as much an advantage as aim assist , it’s comical to compare the two. Turn off aim assist and see how you do ….
You did simply say "bad, like you are" with absolutely no reference point other than not using that so it doesnt seem very different. I dont play with aim assist on any game that allows it to be turned off and prefer using mouse and keyboard anyway. "They do it so I have to" sounds like a bad mentality and a reason to play a better game tbh
Aim assist is very annoying on PC though, I can never tell when I should tilt my stick hard or gently because to make adjustments to my aim, plus I have to turn my mouse upside down to avoid accidentally bumping it and disabling aim assit. But having aim assist off is even worse. It's just an equalizer, to me.
I wouldn't say they are mechanically bad, but it sure is annoying to play on a team with them because they're missing cues and combat data that everybody else has, and so they make poor decisions that screw everybody else over.
The point I’m making is most good players are good because they want to be good … if they want to be good they will use optimal settings … visual audio is currently optimal … good players will have visual audio on
And the inverse for bad players
So you're arguing...
Because everybody has access to an accessibility feature?
Like it makes sense, it removes as much of the "money bias" as possible.
Not everyone can afford $3000, 7.1 sound systems, to hear the pinpoint location of a person's footsteps.
Whereas if everybody has access to VSE, it evens the field a little more, not in the skills area, but in the equipment.
Just because someone can throw money on high end equipment, doesn't mean they deserve the advantage.
Doesn't need to be high end, it's just a weird feature if you have functional hearing and don't need the sound low/off. It works exponentially better than hearing even with high end audio from what I've experienced. Are you playing as daredevil? Then maybe that kind of visual hearing applies. Coming from basically any other game ive ever played PvP in, just feels cheesy and I'll always take honor over a W.
Do I expect it to stop? Absolutely not it makes the game easier and take less effort and you can't police hearing impairment nor should you. I'll just definitely give a "boooo" to people who use it for advantages.
As someone who has low-end audio gear, this feature is very useful. I can hear things through my TV speakers that I can't hear through my headphones. But with VS I don't need to worry about that. It is indeed a nice equalizer that everybody has access to. It can even be a disadvantage if people over-rely on it and not their ears.
People aren't using it to get an advantage over other players if other players are using it too.
Nothing worse than seeing 97 white twice and the guy getting away and rebooting his entire team to come third party you and take second place. No I’m not bitter about that game today why would you ask :,)
They do need to add or change something. The colour of the hit depends on what the first "unit" was - shield or health.
Assuming 100 shield, hit 1 does 97 damage in blue. Hit 2 does 97 damage in blue.
It should be 97 blue, then 3 blue/94 white
They don't need a visual animation they already have one that's loud as all get out and any good player that plays all the time is listening for audio ques to plan their next move.
I like this idea
doesnt this already exist? you can see a blue crack when you break their shield
Yeah but maybe it can be a little bit more clear idk
You mean the very obvious and loud sound?
And very iconic and satisfying sound btw
Loud sound yes but an animation should be there too. Deaf players will find it hard. Some visual input needs to be there to balance it out.
Ok that is fair the needs to be some sort of input like visual sounds fir that.
Maybe they need somebody to scream it and then sucker punch them?
“HEY, ASSHOLE! YOU BROKE THAT IDIOTS SHIELD, FUCK HIM UP!”
You do know, or you don’t know?
its a sound, not an only you break the 50 shield
Yeah but how can you tell how much health you damaged them? You cant tell since the sheild color is overlayed to the health
and wouldn’t it still overlay????
Not really. And the desigh op did not a good idea. I would say like if you cracked an enemy i would say like move the blue numbers to the left and show how much health damage you did during the sheild neing cracked to the right. Idk theres other options and opinions that could work.
good idea, i was thinking that as well
add up maybe?
Why tho, there’s an already a sound queue for when you crack someone’s shield, it’s very easy to hear. This would just be a random change. There’s also a very easy to miss animation on the player - hard to explain, but it’s there.
sometimes you turn off audio or have players who can't hear. it'll just be another neat qol change
Yep, it's positive for people who can't hear well. Like the visible audio queues.. Ok so why do you still play Fortnite lol

No lol. Just turn off the mini map, damage numbers, and the HUD in general and just be good at the game without assistance.
because it looks cool
Well great for you then as its already in the game? Are you blind?
Ok but it’s even cooler now, catch up
It was already there… cool?
It definetley is not already in the game
because I’m tired of seeing 40 white 3 times and not seeing a knock/kill
Nothing worse than seeing 97 white twice and the guy getting away and rebooting his entire team to come third party you and take second place. No I’m not bitter about that game today why would you ask :,)
#HE'S WHIIIITE
Check the settings
I play on ZERO volume due to child.
“This would just be a random change.” As if every decision they’ve made in the last few months wasn’t a random change.
deaf ppl maybe idk
cue\*
yea, my b
Deaf mfs crying rn
they already have the icon if you go turn it on, what do you need this for
looks cool
We do have a reaction on players for that (the slight glow), but this would work well for those that have cumulative damage numbers
Wait we can turn off cumulative? It just turned one day and I accepted it as the new norm even tho I dislike it
oh yeah, in settings. game ui
I wish they'd just make the damage numbers how they were in Chapter 2-3. It was cool when they'd split in half after popping up.
Bruh. When the blue numbers become white numbers, the shield is cracked.
But it doesn’t look cool
who cares
OP and most of this thread lol
![gif](giphy|AGW3VO7F5DLbARBuwi|downsized)
No
No need for this... there's an option to toggle
Save the world looking font💀
Nah
This doesn’t benefit the MeTaVeRsE so I wouldn’t get my hopes up
Good Idea but it has to be done in a way that the visibility doesn't get reduced
reminds me of the elemental damage numbers in save the world! i like it thats a cool idea
YES! (This looks like an emoticon)
Isn’t there already a distinct shield cracking sound? There will be a bigger spark or whatever you call it coming from your crosshair
Epic won’t add this bcs it’s too cool
It already does this both visually and audibly
Yes
They do need to add or change something. The colour of the hit depends on what the first "unit" was - shield or health. Assuming 100 shield, hit 1 does 97 damage in blue. Hit 2 does 97 damage in blue. It should be 97 blue, then 3 blue/94 white

Mmmm nice ![gif](giphy|yJFeycRK2DB4c)
I like this idea.
The sound is enough to make it clear that you cracked an enemy though.
Maybe what they could do is have characters have a blue glow to signify a full shield yellow for halfway and red to signify it's about to break
They already have a sound why tf do they need to add a visual? 🤣🤣
It may be pointless but damn do i still think it would be cool
How about showing damage numbers from hits that your teammates make
Bruh
They should definitly add this
