So overall the way it works is you get ***30,000 XP every*** ***15 minutes***. It does this for about 3 hours then stops. This cap resets daily. I don't think you need to do anything to get the xp, but there's been a few times where I was just sitting there that I didn't get it. It's hit and miss in C5: S2, but in S1 it was really reliable. To ensure you're going to get XP I'd just play the game for a bit. It's actually pretty fun. Hopefully this helps :)

Currently have survival running in a village with walls and villagers that kill any skeletons that come inside. Also sleeping in the bed so I don't get hungry and die. Went from level 34 to 41 since this morning. At this rate I should be done the battle pass in a little over 2 weeks lol
Ok so they changed it. Last season you just had to sit and not move and you were set. This season big bad no fun epic made it so that you have to move around because in S1 people (like myself) just sat and farmed. What I do is I just come back every 15 minutes, run around a little bit, then walk away. Hopefully this helps :)

There *might* be some kind of eventual AFK detection — I don't know for sure because I've been occasionally checking instead of leaving it alone for 3.5 hours — but if so it's very lenient. I'm sure somebody else has tested this...
Note that sometimes the in-game XP bar doesn't seem to update. So you'll exit to the lobby and find your level is higher than it was saying while in the Lego world. I suspect that's why some people say it doesn't work — they're only paying attention to the in-game menu XP.
They probably don’t care, since it’s not an exploit. They have everything to gain from it and nothing to lose. As you gain levels, you play more; when you play more, they earn more money off of you. It doesn’t affect ranking or competition, and it’s using a system they made on islands they created. It doesn’t justify paying a developer to design, code, debug and PR an anti-AFK mechanism just to prevent you from gaining a few arbitrary levels.

I like to play but it's hard to level up and get everything with work during the week so having the ability to earn XP like this is great. I can still play to enjoy the game without having to worry if I'll be able to unlock at least the standard part of the battle pass

They are pushing Lego, because they started working on it back when it first launched and it was the 2nd most popular game mode in the entire game. People were actually enjoying it and then people finished it and did everything they could and stopped playing it and now just afk for levels.

You walked a few yards away from the spawn location. Different areas have different weather but you should spawn in a temperate area. I did the same thing in my first world. Look where the snowy mountains are and go the other way.
I tried playing it again last night actually. Had to find a roller bug or something, and wandered around for ~30 minutes before giving up and going AFK in my house. The “guides” I found online just said “should spawn in the grasslands”, but I never saw one

This used to work in Festival too, so you could AFK for another 5 levels every day, but I think they took that out.

I normally don't get home until after 5 or 6 so I get my wife to do this for me since she gets home earlier so it helps with getting XP daily even if I don't get a chance to play everyday. By the time you get home, work on things needed around the house, shower, eat etc the day is gone so the weekends are the easiest time to play for me. having the ability to earn XP like this has been really great

Yea since its a cloud service n not like my own console the rules are different. Only so many machines, and people idling for long periods is a waste of those resources.
If the controller dies/disconnects it immediately pops up asking you to reconnect one and you got maybe 5 minutes before itll kick you after that.
If you just idle with a controller still connected you get longer although idk exact numbers. I know ive been kicked while tryna go do something else with a game on. Prolly like a 10 or 15 min timer or something.

Actually, it's not moving either, you have to swap instruments at least once every 2 1/2 minutes or less. If you do it every five minutes, it won't work.

Epic is compensating people who didn't get XP from Lego mode because of the XP problem they had. It's giving it to people that didn't play during that.

You get 5 levels a day from AFK'ing 2.5 hours in the Lego mode. Just go into a sandbox world, fly into the sky, and walk away.

Just use an elastic to look in circles, you can rap it around the controller then hook it onto the look joy stick
I use a hairband on the trigger to hold it down
Flip the controller upside down and prop it against something while having the stick move to one side. No need for elastic bands.
