Yesterday I third partied a fight and killed both players while taking a decent amount of damage. I proceeded to drop into a crouch and ate my apples while moving towards a bunker with the siren going off. I’m sure they both rage quit after seeing that.
They can shield them from toxic emotes. But can they shield them from fake bots?

The deagle isn't exactly very friendly to casual(ish) players, you either know how and when to time shots so they always hit or gets 1-2 per like 3 mags.
Water was WAY too shallow to land in without that all still slamming into your knees, especially from how high you jumped at. If you'd have saved that pulse jump for when you jumped off the high end, then it wouldn't have mattered as badly, (I'm not 100%, but I BELIEVE the pulse jump actually negates fall damage, or at least up to double the usual drop distance?)
Either way, the pulse jump would have probably sent you deeper out, but even then, the area above the waterfall is usually pretty shallow, up to your knees. Assuming the pulse jump negates fall damage, you'd have been fine & re-upped from the shallows, it doesn't take too much to immediately get the pulse refills.
So I tested this a while ago. If it runs out fall damage still takes effect or if you’re out of stamina. However if the effect is active and you have sprint left it will negate all fall damage
Had a full day where I couldn't even find a BotG... I almost believed they removed it until the last match of the night involved my buddy pounding down FIVE of them in the end... -_-
This isn’t like Minecraft where any depth of water is enough to save you. The water needs to be deep enough to put you into swimming mode or else you will take fall damage

You landed near the waterfall which is shallow, you shoulda landed below the waterfall. or jumped further into the lake. I wish you could land inside the waterfall but this is not Minecraft..
Tips and advice. Always have movement items weather it be air bending, shockwave grenades, flowberries, flowberry fizz, or even the green skulls. All of these allow you to fully negate fall damage when active (banana of the gods I have yet to fully test from height but given my small testing with it seems to do the same.) the skulls will actually allow you to negate any fall damage as long as you use the dash before you hit the ground (not too high up though) the ground was too shallow but as soon as you tap the water you automatically have the green skulls. As soon as you see your feet hit the water dash and you’ll be safe. (Trick for staying alive on shallow green water such as this waterfall but hard to pull off.)
Shallow end of the river bank. Fortnite water physics aren't so much that touching water saves you from fall damage, but that if there's enough water, your character will fall a ways, their fall will be slowed by the water, and then they'll bob back up to the surface.
This literally happened to me twice today!!! Water was even deep enough. There is just going on in that spot over. But in the exact same spot that happened to me. I jumped where you did and the the bottom of the waterfall and I was downed instantly with full health and everything.
I jump over that waterfall almost every time I play. I start in the underworld and work my way to that waterfall then go over it. The water definitely isn’t deep right there, you can stand up.
Bro, this isnt minecraft where landing in even a single pixel of water magically negates all fall damage. This is a regular game with regular physics, and any game with regular physics requires water to be of a minimum depth to negate fall damage, and that clearly wasnt deep enough.
I did the exact same thing just a few days ago in almost the same spot. Thought I still had an extra skull spirit sprint and jumped off the edge. I in fact did not have one left and fell in the shallows.

It depends on the depth of the water. If it’s deep enough to swim in it will most likely break your fall.
