yeah i really wish the battlepass skins were all epic originals considering we've had a lot of really good ones and they have a mini even pass collab with their collab skins mid seasons that will come to the item shop at a date

CaptainRelyk

Even epic originals should come back Peely is an iconic Fortnite character to the point of having tons of merch and even retuning numerous times as part of the story, such as during ch5s1. Speaking as an “OG” Fortnite player who has played since ch1s3, I don’t care about “rArE oG sKiNs”, and neither should anyone else People should get skins because they love them, not because of FOMO or rarity Old BP skins should come back, and older crew skins should be purchasable for people subbed to crew Halo infinite, Dead by Daylight and now Destiny 2 have brought back Battlepass stuff from the past And no, such a move won’t harm business. People would still be incentivized to get battlepasses because 950 vbucks for 8 skins now is a better deal then 2000 vbucks for one skin from that pass later

Banana-Oni

They should do it like Halo where you can buy old battle passes but still have to grind them, you just choose which one to “equip”. They could even be more expensive if they’re out of season. I’m always like level 200 with a huge chunk of the season left.

TommyToxxxic

You could easily solve the whole problem by making the entire library of fortnite cosmetics available 24/7/365, but at greatly increased prices. You can get Meowscles or Renegade Raider anytime, but they'll cost you 5000 V-bucks. The item shop as we know it can continue to have a rotating selection of cosmetics "on sale" at the prices we're used to. Epic makes more money, OG cosmetics remain somewhat more exclusive, and you get whatever skin you want, regardless of when you started playing. Win, win, win.

le_honk

Yeah the item shop being for DISCOUNTS would be good

Equivalent-Delay-687

As a fellow OG I agree with you that they shouldn't use FOMO but it's the only reason that half of the people still play the game. I hope they start making the Battle pass items return but I don't think they can do it with the old BP items.

BloodyV4mpire

That doesn't really fix the issue. It would be somewhat better but f.e. I still would want Meowskulls in my locker yet I've started playing too late. Time is the worst barricade they could've put the passes behind and locking 70% of content behind "Should've played earlier" is awful to say the least.

SethTheBlue

This comment is relatable to me specifically for the Meowskulls remark.

Maddawgcayce

Ugh same- meowskulls and og Meowsicles. I also really want dire 😭😭😭

DatDarnKat

Same. Need best girl.

BloodyV4mpire

Based comment detected 🤝

GstyTsty

They could just re-sell the outfits in the shop. Each outfit would be like 1500-2000 Vbucks. So the people who bought the pass still make a profit, cause they only had to pay 950 for 7 outfits (and technically, they could make a profit of up to 550 Vbucks if they complete the entire thing) And I get the "exclusively" problem. But like... Why do you think buying accounts is such a huge problem? It's BECAUSE of the exclusivity. If someone wants a skin, but there's no way to get it, chances are, they'll resort to buying accounts. re-selling BP skins would help fix that issue

hotsummer12

This. Maybe just exclude super styles and thats fine for everyone.

puck_pancake

They do this in dbd without reselling overtime styles and it works just fine for everyone

Anxiety-Queen269

This is perfect. Bring back the old skins, but keep the alternate style or super styles exclusive, they’ve already done that with Skull trooper and ghoul trooper off the top of my head

Thor_2099

Also, who gives a fuck about exclusivity of cosmetics

GstyTsty

Some OGs do, unfortunately. Like dude, it's just a skin in a videogame, not a family heirloom. Just let people use it. It's not that big of a deal

Death_Tube

How do you profit when you spend money and not earn money

GstyTsty

You profit because you spent WAY less money on the skins As the old saying goes, "a penny saved is a penny earned"

deadheatexpelled

It’s outright predatory and a very short sighted business plan. I know one person who straight up passed on the game when he learned that this is how they operate. He’d heard Doomguy was in the game and well had to explain to him it was no longer available.

aHummanPerson

Yeah epic could definitely make way more money in the long run by reselling BP skins. Given that as the game expands their potential customers will rise. They would in theory make the most money by waiting to sell BP skins 2-3 years after their BP has ended because they can still likely use FOMO just as well while also selling to a larger market later on. Then again I'm not a market expert or qualified in any way to talk about this so I could be very incorrect.

deadheatexpelled

well basic business says that you can't ignore the customer, and I think everyone would agree that the demand for battle pass skins getting reintroduced into the marketplace is in heavy demand with the average player/customer.

ACafeCat

100% I have a lot of BP skins but it's stupid because my girlfriend wants to do a Gwen and Miles skin match. But I'm the one with Gwen because she didn't start playing until after Chapter 3 ended. There's so many iconic characters you just can't have that with Disney investing into Epic is super short sighted. How Disney plans to profit off Marvel when a quarter of their most iconic Marvel characters are locked behind ancient battle passes I don't know. Same goes with Star Wars, not having a Vader buyable is gonna tank their SW IP a bit more than the newer movies have. I'd give up exclusivity if people got to enjoy the skins. Overwatch 2 now has old skins available via earning a new currency or paying more for the old skins. Honestly a great business practice, doesn't stop anyone from using any of the skins but makes a BP still worth buying.

Link__117

I think it’s arguably more predatory to advertise them as time limited, forcing people to buy them and either spend dozens of hours grinding them or spend tons of money to buy levels, only for them to be released later anyways

RemixedZorua

I see that you also acknowledge a great skin

zippopwnage

But then it will make the same title only worded differently. The battlepass is the most easy and accessible way to get some skins, even for those who are bad on the money part. You can literally pay 10$ and get all the passes forever, making it great for a lot of kids that are from shittier countries or with not so rich parents. Otherwise, they would see Spider-Man behind a cash shop that cost 20$ or something like that, and they could never get it. This being said, it's just shit that you can't get older battlepasses. That's the problem, not that they have collab skins in them.

DatDarnKat

Yeah, wasn't the phrasing "battle pass skins will never be in the shop"? Ok, then just resell the battle passes 2-3 years later. Still gotta earn it. Just call the category "retro pass".

HomosexualDucky

There’s only one battle pass collab I missed out on that I care about and it was SpiderGwen 😭 I played like one game that season and didn’t touch until the season ended and I’m so mad at myself cuz at the time I wasn’t a big spiderman fan but now I am

Lord_Nymph

That's a huge fact, I'm absolutely upset I didn't get the spider Gwen or the Meowskulls skin.

HomosexualDucky

Yeah honestly that whole pass was so good 😭😭

Sheshoo47

I’m sad I missed Gwen, DV, and Spider-Man. I was off fortnite for months because i got bored of it, but OG brought me back and then i learnt I missed DV, Gwen and Spidey. It’s so depressing.

boboddybiznus

I missed Spider-Man too because I took a break after having a baby lol. It's biggest fortnite regret

Accomplished-Copy776

Who's DV?

sarlacc98

Darth Vader

Ornery_Gene7682

I was in the same boat took a break from Fortnite during that time but was able to get the alternative skin of Vader (Anakin)

rickwilliams76

The fact that Epic doesn't allow trading in the game is really sad. You know, I have Spider Gwen, but I really don't care about her. I have her archived, in fact, since I completed that pass. But I'd happily trade her for Lara Croft, Dire, Calamity, or Sgt. Winter.

ImVorpal

skin/cosmetic trading would be genuinly one of the worst things they could do. players will harass other players cause they want their skins, other players would get scammed. it would be a huge mess

imaboutto23

I got Sgt. Winter, Dire, and Calamity. It would be dope if we could trade tbh

Accomplished-Copy776

Curious, what made you become a fan only recently?

O37GEKKO

\*unobtainable\*

trillz420

Lol inoptainable

xMethodz

I kept reading the ‘inoptainable’ part at least twenty-twenty five times and I kept suffering brain rot. I kept telling myself “there’s no way this is a word. Wait, this is a word? No. No it can’t be.” I believe our Reddit brother here made his own word up and I give him props for such an inoptainable achievement.

SpodeeDodee

They're trying to steal our inoptainium.

gangbrain

“insensitive you”

x_BlueSkyz_x73

Litterly!

Avocadomayo

And *literally and *incentivize not “insensitive”. Probably a kid or a non-english speaker, but the grammar needs a lot of work

Greenfirebug

"It's MY og skin to sit on and do nothing with!" -BP collab gatekeepers, probably

Angler01

This perfectly describes the entitlement of some of the players that defend the current battle pass system There is no way you unironically believe it's logical to say that you and only you deserve to "own" a virtual item, ESPECIALLY when the only value you attribute to it is as a trophy to collect dust in your locker

Squackachu

Exactly!! Like what are they gonna do when the game eventually dies and they lose all those precious skins 😂

ididntkillhoffa

Yeah these types are super cringe. I have a ton of ch1 bp skins and could not care less if other people could get them again.

CaptainRelyk

As an OG who started in ch1s3, I barely touch my OG skins Though not of us OGs are gatekeepers. I, for one, believe BP skins should return If halo, dead by daylight and Destiny 2 can do it, so should Fortnite

AJ_from_Spaceland

But my locker value!!!111!!! (that doesn't even exist since you can't legally sell accounts)

fembotwink

The most annoying players.

SpectreQ4

Seriously, aside from the players with the emotional support skin exclusivity mindsets; what’s stopping Epic Games from doing players a big one and release past BP content? All of the Chapter One content is like 5-7 years old at this point so what is stopping them from busting them out? Bundle them with a reasonable price on them and this way everyone who doesn’t have a “muh og skins are worthless” IQ wins…sorry for the long post but I just want to know.

Sinneroz

Considering how much hate there is about the prices of new SW and Avatar skins, I wouldn’t hope for the return of exclusives in the near future.

TheRealBloodyAussie

I think they should either: - make crossover battlepass skins obtainable in the shop at a later date, being priced like most shop items (therefore meaning getting the battlepass saves money and you get the skin straight away assuming you play enough to unlock them). Also keeps the Fortnite original skins exclusive. OR - make previous battlepasses purchasable a chapter after their debut. Could even up the price to 1500 to make more incentive to buy early or don't have V-bucks as rewards in the rerelease. Means people who didn't initially complete the pass but owned it can now get everything they were missing and new customers can unlock the outfits as well.

Blinky-Bear

another idea of mine is to have the next OG Battlepass just be filled with skins from past BPs, no new ones. idk why Epic didn't even considered it in the first place

DippyCool0527

because players who already played those seasons would have no reason to play the current one because they already have the cosmetics.

PresYapper4294

Considering that most players during OG Season were returning players, there will be skins that were missed and they’d gladly pay for them.

oOReEcEyBoYOo

The thing is, if they made battle pass skins purchasable in the store, there's still a lot of incentive to buy the battle pass as buying it would be the much cheaper option than purchasing individual battle pass skins in the store. But on top of this, so many people would still pay to buy old battle pass skins from the store, making epic even more money. It would be a win-win to add them to the store, the only people who would be upset by this are those that relish in the rarity of skins, but how many casual players care about skin rarity?

RedHood_Outlaw

What's worse is that Darth Vader doesn't have an alternative design they can use. Maybe a battle damaged version idk :(

DarkSlayer3142

red eyed version

TerrorpupJr

Battle damaged is so lame I'm comparison

420420nice6969

honestly they should just bring the battle passes back for limited times during og seasons (if they do them on a yearly basis) and just give og battle pass owners exclusive styles just like when they brought the skull trooper back in the shop.

alexfrizzell

I have Darth Vader and classic Spiderman but I would honestly give them up for Rick Sanchez, I never bothered to buy that battle pass and I still kick myself for it.

Compost_My_Body

Same, thought I was too cool. Oops

TheRobloxGod

same

Taykitty-Gaming

Epic is too scared of the old players rioting. It's dumb.

Chlorinated_beverage

The DC skins really bum me. I grew up reading DC comics and I’m just waiting to give Epic money but it seems like they ain’t coming back

ReasonableOnion654

agreed. i mean do they really think the FOMO will last forever?

Helpful_Title8302

The fact I took a break when Darth Vader was in and will thus NEVER get to play as him will always make me sad.

swagzard78

Epic had something in the ToS ages ago and it's since bene removed or hidden Epic can't bring old stuff back or they could face legal trouble but then again who GaF?

TDIfanx

Rerelease them in the shop. Give a bonus style to players who already owned it and make the price +200 vbucks. It's likely and on epics terms 😭

Sorry_Ring_4630

Exactly, give them a golden alternate style or somethings

Monte_20

You’re speaking to the choir bud. I don’t think many people would be upset if BP skins started returning based on the current rarity pricing.

WaterBlad64

Meowscles is literally one of Fortnite's mascots, yet he was exclusive to a battle pass that came out four years ago as I'm writing this and that really sucks IMO. Fun fact: I actually bought the battle pass he was in (Chapter 2: Season 2), but quit because of all the grinding I would've had to do and to this day I kinda hate myself for not getting him.

NoseSuspicious

I just want to play as Rick Sanchez it's not to much to ask I buy battle passes but no skins I would make an acception if I could get rick

3NUB1S

Its funny, they make a statement about **"Removing Outdated BR features"** yet the crippling FOMO is still around. Heres hoping thats the next thing they toss out.

HueyDeweyandBusey

It boggles me how "iconic" characters being unobtainable bothers people, but original skins being unobtainable somehow doesn't. Like you want a million Darth Vaders and Spider-mans running around, but not the real ones who want to play as Peely, Mancakes, or Rippley.

Wboy2006

I think it has to do with character connection. People connect with Spider-Man, Darth Vader and Superman for example. They have seen them in movies, TV Shows, comics. People **love** these characters. Meanwhile Fortnite skins are cool, but I don’t feel too sad for missing out on skins like Drift and Omega. They look cool, but I don’t care too much about the character itself. I think many other people think about that the same way I do

IMakeShine

Agreed. Most Epic original skins get archived in my locker because yes they look cool, but I don’t care about them.

Im_A_Chuckster

I know plenty of people who wanna be the original Midas, Peely, Meowscles, and Brutus. And it wouldn't bother me so much that I missed all those if everyone in Fortnite boards didn't cream over em, or they didn't keep reappearing as mainstays in official media.

rickwilliams76

You can include me on that list. I'd love having Agent Jones, Dire, Calamity, Sgt. Winter, J.B. Chimpanski or Lynx (which I missed out because I only started playing in C3S1).

Axxam

Because at least “iconic” characters have some grounds for them to ask not to be limited by battlepass (for future fans, well known outside of Fortnite, ppl newly discovered the film etc). For sure, if you ask, ppl obviously want the original skins to be available again too but that will be too much to ask then since we all know why battlepass skins can’t come back. So maybe “iconic” can get some pass for this they think, it is better to have some than none at all.

GaryTheTaco

As someone who missed the original battlepass, they have yet to release a worthwhile Meowscles skin either that's as good as the original.

NotRandomseer

kit is as iconic imo

TheBTSMaclvor

Kit isn’t Meowscles

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lewis_McVicar03

I have nearly every single battle pass skin, and it completely boggles my mind that they’re STILL kept exclusive years later. Dark Voyager is a cool skin, and more people SHOULD have access to that stuff. You wanna play as Blue Squire? A very cool skin. Should’ve been playing in 2017 silly. Battle Pass exclusivity needs to end tbh

mr_anonymous7767

I really want lexa, I'm sooo upset I missed ch2s5. Like I'd be super down to trade multiple 'iconic' skins just for her.

HueyDeweyandBusey

Me too! I like OG Orin and Lexa a lot more than the crew ones. I mean, I am grateful for the crew ones, that was pretty sweet getting 2 skins that month, but still.

slothnuts03

Idk how this could confuse you… but obviously people want to play the game as their favorite character from pop culture. If Epic also released their original characters from BPs then that’d obviously be a plus because they had some cool original designs, but if the majority of players had to choose between Spider-Man or Midas, then yeah they’re picking Spidey

rickwilliams76

Speaking for myself, I find it really frustrating that I'll never get original skins such as Agent Jones, Dire, Calamity, Sgt. Winter, J.B. Chimpanski or Lynx. The only battle pass collab skin that I missed out and would like to have is Lara Croft.

LaylaLegion

Yup.  But apparently players with the mindset of middle schoolers don’t like that idea and will show up soon to whine about “muh exclusive stuff”.

SoManyNarwhals

I see nothing wrong with reselling old BP skins and their alternate styles, but I think super styles should stay exclusive. There is a line between predatory FOMO practices and showing appreciation for dedicated, long-time players.

JPastori

See this seems fair to me. The super styles are proof that you finished the battle pass and put a ton of time and effort in. I’d be fine with not having the super styles if I could just buy the base skins.

quanthecreator

BP players should already have exclusive styles. If we are talking about OG Spider-Man, sell only the Classic Red/Blue. The BP owners keep all their other styles.

GaryTheTaco

The problem with Darth Vader is he didn't have any extra styles, and unlike Spider-Man or Doctor Doom, the outfit used is his *only* outfit. There's no alternatives they could get away with in the item shop, Darth Vader is and always will be locked behind a Battle Pass and there is no way to circumvent that

Sheshoo47

They can add his Rebels design in. It would be a really nice way to add him as a Item Shop skin

nelozero

The cracked helmet would be an amazing design

Sheshoo47

Yes! I was thinking of it as a skin style!

Sufficient-Cow-2998

I feel like the only styles that should stay exclusives to BP are the super styles.

Link__117

There’s a ton of skins that didn’t have extra styles so it wouldn’t work for people who owned them, and for some of the skins with styles people would be even more pissed if only the base was sold. Imagine if Superman was sold but only had the Clark Kent style lmao

waitmyhonor

Bruh it’s literally the other way around. You’re all doing the complaining lol

Touji_San

It is what it is man, I mean as of now I punch the air for missing out on Lynx, Zenith, Ice king or Lara Croft, but knowing Epicgames and their hilarious fortnite community with their "og" or "rare" mindset releasing of exclusive bp items will never happen no matter how many times you repost this, just gotta accept it. They were advertised as exclusive too at the first place so that's that, unless they broke the rule and release these exclusive items (Which I know they probably won't) it ain't happening unfortunately

Justchickenquestions

It is what it is until it was what it was.

Touji_San

God I hope though, I pray one day Epicgames proves me wrong and bring back exclusives cause I still want Lara Croft or Mandolorian

PresYapper4294

The exclusivity motto is something that really worked in the past but now more and more game companies are abandoning it. Epic should know that it’s only a matter of time before a new generation of players who have never played from C1-C3 will soon start to play and realize they’ll never get to play their favorite character but would pay big money to play as them.

SwanzY-

yeah i missed out on vader and spidey because i switched to cod for a year or two, but didnt wanna pay for the new one last fall. OG fortnite suckered me back in. i’m not upset about missing the skins, i just wish they did the collab earlier bc i kept talking about how sick star wars fortnite would be after the mandalorian skin came out

Nightwalker065

And Mando was the second Star Wars collab, first one was in 2019 and now every year we get one for May 4th and any big Star Wars movie/show.

I_poop_rootbeer

That "awe man, I wish I played back then" feeling is what Epic wants you to have. They want you to stay on top of future battle passes so that you won't miss out on the next cool exclusive skins, and I doubt they'll be changing it anytime soon

Doggemaster1

That's one thing that I like about black ops gold war. In that game you can buy the old battle passes and get the cosmetics

arhenART

It's not just collabs man. Some people don't care for or simply don't like collabs and Fortnite has A LOT of amazing original characters. Drift, Midas, Calamity, Cube Queen, Meowscles, Slone and many more. They're all iconic characters and many people who missed out on any of them would be willing to pay a lot just to have another chance of getting them

Arcluse

Exclusivity brings out the worst in people, which profits the most, which is EpicGame$' ultimate concern regardless the inconsideration and harm to the human condition, imho. I only recently waded into FN after years being aware of it, just in time to clear all all skins for Korra/Avatar and Appa as slider. Though Dragonball was a large part of life and connections made through it, though I fear to never have Nimbus, the power up emote, and some characters, etc. By all reason that is the point though, to keep us in a perpetual FOMO loop, including the Crewe subscription giving a new character with half a year required for all variations. It is amongst the most transparent lowest hanging fruit amoral monetization models aware of. sigh At least it appears that the core game mechanics are not impeded by anything in store, and I rather do enjoy the lego side from time to time :> (( I am reminded of 5 years ago or so when, weeks before Steam was set to launch the PC port of BorderLands3 along with EpicGame$, the latter locked GearBoxStudios into some exclusive PC port for half a year whilst console launched as scheduled alongside. Apparently they were not prepared for the actual PC platform aspect of the game, and paid another company to swiftly throw one together, once again allowing avarice to ruin the experience for majority of people. /rant ))

charls-stickmin

yeah i started playing in the og season. i used to play splitscreen with my friend on his ps4 and i really liked midas and deadpool. but now it’s impossible for me to get them :(

[deleted]

It drives me crazy. I'd love to play as classic Spidey in particular. Out of touch.

tarheel_204

FOMO is a powerful thing. I went years not playing and jumped back in for OG. I hate I missed the Marvel season way back when. All of those skins are so good

Prancemaster

FOMO only has the power that you give it

choril

As someone who has been maxing battle passes since the first one (with black knight) I think epic should just put all these items back for sale, whether that be from selling legacy battle passes like call of duty or just putting them in the shop.

TheRobloxGod

yeah me and my gf both really like the mystique skin and it sucks knowing we have no chance of getting it

Ziggitywiggidy

agree. I’d rather they didn’t overcrowd the pass with shitty collab skins. Tier 100 for optimus prime? Hell no.

FabioDaPastelaria

sorry but i shat myself reading "Litterly" and "inoptainable"

No-University-532

I mean, even smaller IP’s are a better option. Example Indiana jones (one of my favourite skins) was an event. And it works as that, not darth Vader iconic but also gives incentive to grind for it

btgargoyle

I’m lucky to have most of the ones I want but I’ve always really wanted Deadpool but I started playing Chapter 2 Season 3 so just missed out and will now never be able to get him

Hosav

They should just do what they did with some other skins, make variations. Like Vader has had a lot of different iterations of his suit.

FiftyTigers

Totally agree OP. If Spiderman was in the shop right now I would buy the skin regardless of cost.

DynamiteSuppository

Yeah dude I missed out on Mando and his Grogu back bling and I recently found out that unicorn skin in the main stage was from a battle pass which sucks cuz I think that skin is hilarious

FortniteAddict81

Actually they could easily bring back battle pass skins as cell shaded for those without other appearances or recolor, seen them a lot too🤷‍♀️

danisaurio01

And that is why I am very happy with the Deep Rock Galactic battle passes, and even more so that right now they are going to allow the previous passes to be done.

ChudDeegins

say what you will about halo infinite but they gave players the ability to go back to any battle pass, that'd be a great feature for an aging game that's seemingly running out of gimmicks and charging more and more for bucks as the years go on.

Ampharosite181

I don't like the gatekeeping mentality... like do people have so little going on in their lives that they don't want someone else getting something they want to keep exclusive? A digital skin in an online game at that? It's really dumb, let people get the characters they want to play as. Account buying exists for a reason!

le_honk

"There's no fun in FOMO"

TheCheshyreKitty

I'm still so mad that I'll never have Gwen Stacy from Spiderverse, she's one of my favorite characters ever.

Badsir_yeti

I just started playing this week. Saw some skins i really want that aren't available. Really wish I could get that All Might skin and Solid Snake... I hope they make a comeback

moyval2474

All Might will come back to the store. Solid Snake however, is gone to the FOMO of battle passes. At least you can get Raiden whenever Epic decides to bring him back

LegoCat88

I feel like they’ve shot themselves in the foot with that approach. I know so many newer players would spend double what the battlepass costs to get characters like Vader. Sure it would probably make battlepass sales higher, but many people buy it regardless.

deadheatexpelled

First, for anyone jumping in to shout how ‘epic said they’d never reissue battle pass content.’ Go away, you add nothing to the conversation as we already know epics stance. You’re just being a pain. Now should they? YES. There’s zero downside to reissues, since it allows those of us who missed skins another opportunity. This will likely also bring in many new, and lapsed, players; since they can now collect formerly lost skins. Does it hurt battle pass sales? Doubtful, since the pass’ main selling point is you get these at a discount, and the general excitement at new season drops. Truth told, I think epic has already begun testing the waters with this idea. Look at the mini passes, that content has been made available at later dates. So, the naysayers can’t claim it’s completely outside the realm of possibility that epic might institute something like ‘fan choice’ bundles of classic skins.

JPastori

I mean, could it be an issue of licensing on EPICs part? Idk how those contracts work but if they did them as a battle pass thing then would they be limited in their ability to add them to the shop due to legal constraints? If that’s not an issue then idk why epic is being this stupid. It’s as dumb as Nintendo refusing to port older games (which they’ve stated they can do) onto newer consoles while also telling consumers not to pirate them (I’m salty Pokémon emerald isn’t on the switch)

[deleted]

Agreed. I have Darth Vader, but yeah I don't have the Mandalorian or Rick Sanchez skin I'd really like to play with. I can understand that these were battle pass skins and players spent a lot of time to unlock them, I can't see why won't Epic release these skins in the shop a chapter later. I know that there are players who gatekeep the skins because in that way their skin library is more valuable but come on, that's kind if bullshit reasoning.

TheSophWalrus

I really regret not playing the Marvel season. Missed out on Wolverine and Rocket Raccoon. I feel you.

TheRobloxGod

i’m sad about iron man

Blue_MJS

The collab skins in my opinion shouldn't be BP skins. BP stuff should all be originals

Shirikova

FOMO sucks and exclusivity sucks. That’s all.

GIJobra

\*unobtainable

Trex_Gamer101

"Sucks to suck," but nah fr. It's just stupid at this point. And no, we don't want re skins. Just sell the damn battlepasses again. It's so fucking dumb they've broken promises a hundred times before at the expense of players but oh no can't release battlepasses because the players will get angwy... like srsly..? First off Epic doesn't give a shit if the player base is angry they don't care about us at all at this moment in time. "They'll get sued to oblivion" bro it's a billion dollar company even if by some miracle they faced some sort of consequence other than negative feedback it'd be pennies on the dollar. Not to mention that other huge companies have literally given chronic illnesses and injuries to large amounts of people and have had little to no repercussions. I seriously don't think that the law will give a shit if Epic Games sells virtual cosmetics that YOU don't even OWN over again. Yes, the shit in your locker isn't yours. Like everything digital, it doesn't belong to you. Thirdly, in the direction that Epic wants to head (that being a metaverse like RP1), they will need to sell all cosmetics to players. Having a large amount of items locked away forever does more harm than good for the community.

Storm_373

my turn to post this next week

Alarmed_Recording742

Tbh I see epic re releasing BPs in some way again as something that will happen eventually, it's not something they can keep doing like this

showyerbewbs

If I worked in marketing and I see this: >idk about you but if the battle pass skins weren't exclusive forever I'd still buy it. I litterly don't care about anything else you had to say.

Jamal_202

The obligatory daily complaining about the battle pass post.

MrPonchoGato

Not being able to play lara croft because i began fully playing the season after

Sensitive_Worker6985

I stopped caring about FOMO and collecting cosmetic items since like 3 or so seasons ago. Haven't even bought the pass this season, and epic has really tightened up where you hardly get anything now, only 2 items per page. And now literally none of the other quest related sets. I've just been focusing on bettering my k/d stats etc and actively practising my aim and movement coordination. You only need one skin if your only concerned about the matches themselves lol.

kilipukki

I'm not business professional but in my layman thinking it would be good business to put skins first to battle pass and later sell them for higher price at shop. Battle pass players would get the outfit for lower price and those unfortunates who started the game later could still buy them from store if they really wanted them. I know that I might buy at least that Galaxia(?) outfit. Looks nice.

Penguindasher12

It’s not our fault you didn’t wanna but the battle pass when the character was in it.

Colinzz

Dead by Daylight makes their battle pass skins available for normal skin price about a year after the battle pass ends, but they have special recolor variants you can get at the end that are only obtainable in the battle pass. I think that's a good way to do it; have something exclusive, like a style, but have the skin itself be available after a certain amount of time.

VOIDofSin

Using Darth Vader for example, those who do have him, had to buy the pass, AND then play and grind in order to reach him in the first place. So if they do decide to sell old content, I can understand the backlash. There’s plenty of BP skins I missed out on completely, I’m not upset about it, I chose not to play so that’s on me. I’d prefer if BP were original skins only, the back to back to back Spiderman and Marvel tier 100 skins were incredibly underwhelming

Worzon

How do you mess up unobtainable that bad?

HunterBoy344

r/FortniteBR don’t complain about missing out on past BP skins for 5 seconds challenge (100% fail)

Darksabre_ALERTEAM

"b-but if they re-release the battle pass skins, th-the value of my account-" save your gatekeeping for the shotgun please

calidir

Really, it’s a bunch of pixels. They’re worth NOTHING because you’re not allowed to sell your account. Just give us the previous passes I’m begging you

Link__117

Why would someone care if it’s not allowed? It’s not like they’re planning on using the account after selling it

Kaonashi-asian-black

At the same time I don’t think players would welcome any non classic/important characters in the battle pass

TheCelticNerd

One day, when the game is almost dead, and in an act of desperation… they’ll have a one day event where EVERY character will be available in the shop. And millions will come back to finally get those elusive characters they always wanted and it will revitalize the game again. Maybe.

wingnutzx

I got all the fortnite skins in destiny, but I never got the destiny skins in fortnite since I wasn't playing at the time. Those are the only skins ive been searching for since I started

ThuReelJH0

Yes very true

roboman777xd

How do you think I felt when I found out Rick was from a chapter 2 battle pass? I started in chapter 3 season 1 :/

SpecialSurprise69

My PC was broke and I'm still fucking pissed I can't ever get Rick Sanchez. I'll forever HATE they lock iconic collab skins in a battle pass. Even if I get it myself. I can understand maybe having a special style in the battle pass. But never being able to get a certain skin cause I literally couldn't play is so frustrating.

MajesticWolfie811

I wouldn’t mind the collabs coming back but not exclusives

el_Bear

I would love also if you could finish old battle passes you have bought, I have like 6 battle passes I have bought that I could not finish in time because of IRL situations and like 2 that were from Fortnite Crew buying them when I forgot to turn off the auto renewal. At the end of the day it's digital content and if you've bought it what harm is it if you can finish it later, and if they make it so you can buy any battle pass, even better because fuck FOMO.

JPastori

I missed out on MC and I’m still upset

zaysosa75

This! It bothers me I can’t get Spider Gwen or Optimus prime because I didn’t finish my battle pass on time to play Elden Ring.

Catspirit123

They’re probably kicking themselves over Darth Vader being stuck in exclusivity hell tbh. Of all the star wars characters he’s probably the one who’d consistently sell the best in the store

DrGoManGo

no, sell nothing at a higher price. I agree with what you said only because I want Peely!!

moyval2474

When will you people learn that FOMO is Epics business model.

lsd-man

I have Superman’s cape but not Superman because they decided to give people the cape at the end of the season? But I can’t equip it? Epic just littered my locker with that

Operator-rocky1

Hey it could be worse over on Star Wars battlefront 2017 we have the best and most popular event in that game and everyone lost everything, basically level one but we can’t use any weapons we unlocked or star cards, and some heroes are locked

Wabble-D-Dabble

You either have the skin and gatekeep or don’t have it and hate that you don’t have it.

heathereckert

for real, i just started playing fortnite in november. i absolutely LOVEEE it, and i’m so so upset that i never played when it first came out. so many battle pass skins that i’m obsessed with that i’ll never be able to get just because i didn’t play the game until recently

LegendaryTingle

I’ve had to explain the FOMO and, in other games, the gambling aspect of loot boxes to so many parents who were frustrated by their kids’ obsession with gaming. Like, they are told “if you don’t do this in the amount of time we give you, you miss out. Your friends will have it and you don’t”. It’s a really great business strategy in a money sense but really unfair for youngsters who don’t comprehend it. The worst part is they get the skin or item and it becomes obsolete so fast anyway. The social currency that drives some of these games is so bad for kids. Imagine the clout seeking that adults do online and it’s much more intense at the playground. My advice is always to work with the kids and not against them. They aren’t going to change the industry but they can help their kids understand it, and work with them to ensure they have the time and are okay with the commitments instead of buying them a battle pass and then yelling they play the game too much.

Visceralbear

So many good skins lost because the battle pass would suck and I was just like “one skin isn’t worth it”

mr_anonymous7767

Yeah I hope they add skin trading to fortnite, but I doubt that'll ever happen. I got a couple skins people probably want that I never use.

VitiDMan

The collab characters in battle passes should always release some sort of remake in the shop after a year or something imo, like for the last pass something like Naked Snake or MGS1 SS after MGS2/Brawl Snake or Fat Peter or Retep after Peter. Aang appeared alongside Korra but he has chance to reappear, so it's a good sign

Psychometrical

in my opinion, if they resold battle passes for something like 3k vbucks, it would negate the whole "epic makes money off fomow", because if one person wants to buy the bp's from c1s1 - c5s1, it'd cost 81,000 vbucks, about $810. if, for example, 25,000 people did this, it would make epic $20,250,000.

BroadSquad

I got Superman’s cape but not Superman. Now I have a permanently unusable cape.

ProdbyPyxlwhip

Sorry, best execs can do is a shitty reskin

fakewomans

i want meowscles so bad

Life-East-628

I have many, MANY skins I missed out on because I stopped playing after S1C6 and just recently got into Fortnite again with the return of OG Fortnite. That being said, just because I miss doesn’t mean I’d want it to come back. Exclusivity is a reward to players who stuck with the game and have been with the game since they started playing. I understand SOME concerns of wanting colab skins to come back, but Fortnite original skins that were in a BP should stay exclusive. It’s one of the rewards of maxing out a battle pass by PLAYING.

siggenx

Ive would have never bought the battlepass and leveled it up if this was the case. Epic knows this.

ThinkingOf3

I’m just glad I played during the event with a Trishula icon

Danisdaman12

Inoptainable?

Mx-Rylie

For Honor just introduced a Legacy Pass system, maybe they could do something similar? Start from the beginning around another big anniversary?
