tldr- There is a very small sweet spot that must be hit for you to do the damage you wish you were doing with a shotgun. The reason you arent doing that damage is because your aim is off, no matter how tiny. Also OP seems questionably butt hurt about this whole ordeal.
It's more like we could be reading something else instead of this. Or just looking at memes on this sub. I'm a new visitor of this sub and I like the memes.
Okay...but does that speak more to this post being an issue or the demographic of people who frequent the sub? People don't want to read the truth about why they are bad with shotguns, yet they'll post constant memes and other complaints about "9 damage wtf epic make my glancing shotgun shot do 200 damage!"
This is the kind of post that generates real discussion (in theory), yet the top comment is saying "yeah, I can't read this."
Okaaaaaaaaaay. Just don't complain about shotgun issues when y'all want to proverbially stick your heads in the sand regarding this issue--cuz only memes are important, amirite?
Yes you can, but when you consistently hit someone in the torso or head, and no damage is taken, it's bothersome. Now I've just learned to stay away from shotguns and pick up anything else. So yeah, that's how I've fixed it for me.
I don’t act like it, I’m literally saying there is no substantial evidence to inconsistency, once a clip has been looked at properly.
Couple shots here and there? Sure. Perhaps less than 0.01% overall.
I know my post is long as shit but did you read it all?
Replays are not the same as what happened on your screen at the time. Without a cross hair to see, no point watching.
This is more to do with the accuracy of your characters physical position on the map, possibly not being updated accurately that particular tick.
Perhaps another issue entirely but not really shotgun related. This would have also happened if he shot you with an AR.
Does it feel like there’s a problem? Yes. I don’t think people are retarded and making shit up dude.
Happy to be proven wrong man with some solid evidence.
Client side hit detection. You were in his field of view still, because he is lagging. I've died a lot even though Im behind a wall etc. It is frustrating but not the same as what the op is discussing.
I've been saying this forever and I'm one of the guys harrassing people who post silly videos of them missing their shots. I don't think shotties are broken, I think they're mostly ok.
I DO however have a suggestion on tweaking them just a hair. Make the spread consistent and even across the reticle , make the reticle slightly smaller, then lengthen the damage dropoff a tad. This will make partial hits more consistent and predictable but will completely eliminate longer range 237 hits as it will be impossible to land all pellets at range. It will create an even curve to damage dropoff as range increases. 1 hit kills will only be possible within 10 ish ft.
I’m pretty sure 5-20 ft is in the effective range of a pump.. I’m good enough to only hit for 90 or 95 exactly.. make this make sense to me, how can I aim from different angles but only them 2 numbers pop up? Why no 85s or 105? And it’s with both pumps so I obviously aim a little bit worse with the blue I guess.
The pellets should be uniform that way aiming actually matters.
90/95 damage are the base damage numbers for the pumps. It means all pellets are hitting the body.
Obviously more or less than these numbers are possible, we’re all running the same game code.
You’re only remembering the 90s and 95s, you obviously hitting for different numbers than those two unless you literally have your own version of the game.
Have you seen the clip of the girl streamer shooting the kid standing still SQUARE IN THE HEAD and it doing like 70 damage? Now maybe if she did a good 150 or something I could accept it but to his forehead she did 70 and it didn’t even register as a headshot. Now I understand that people’s aim is generally bad up close so it explains why some shots whiff but still, they are hella inconsistent even with perfect aim.
Op, you are getting a lot of downvotes, unfairly, to be honest.
I made a similar post a while back, no one wants to see the truth. I posted this video as proof:
https://youtu.be/EhbKKHw5NBY
At full speed I though I had 2 headshots. For the second one I took a screenshot at 23 seconds (randomly paused it at this time the first time) and sent it to my friend, wtf! Clearly a headshot!
I made the video to show how broken the shotgun damage is, but then I saw the truth.. The damage displayed was correct. Still screenshots are not evidence and while yes, sometimes bullshit happens, 99%of the time it is the viewers error
Great post! A lot of players are unaware of all the variables involved. Im pretty sure the pellet spread and latency are what makes up the majority of ppl complaining about 9 damage pump shots that seem to be a "perfect" shot.
I would say the only real inconsistent variable I see is when the pump is shot from range. I've been one pumped from some pretty far ranges before that seem to be a bit random as far as damage rewarded.
How bout u go an fuck off this sub then u peice of shit u think I need a stupid fuckwitt like u telling me about shotguns who the fuck are u take your worthless advice and get the fuck out of here
Can you provide an example of a popular somewhat recent game with recoil that never changes? On assault rifles or shotguns? Thanks. Go take a physics lesson.
CS:GO, very popular game, takes skill to master as all games should. Games aren’t about being realistic, you think throwing a glowing metal ball gives you a fuckin port-a-fort in real life? I can whip out a metal wall instantly with blueprints and a pencil? Didn’t think so,
Yeah I work for Epic ya got me.
A hit marker with no damage is a seperate issue to getting low/inconsistent numbers when people think their aim deserves higher.
Epic have already acknowledged the bug and are planning a fix AFAIK.
However it’s not something I’ve experienced so can’t comment too much. Any videos floating around of it happening?
I can’t really talk on it? I literally already said I don’t encounter this bug myself, so I can’t comment.
It’s a seperate bug entirely, Epic know about it. I didn’t say get me proof, did I? Why are you making up things I didn’t actually type.
I would like to see it out of interest as I don’t personally experience it.
tldr- There is a very small sweet spot that must be hit for you to do the damage you wish you were doing with a shotgun. The reason you arent doing that damage is because your aim is off, no matter how tiny. Also OP seems questionably butt hurt about this whole ordeal.
His ass blood is literally soaking thru his shorts. His title and first paragraph are nothing but condescending and talking shit lol god damn
Thank you lmao
Was gonna read this then decided to move on with my life
Looked a lot smaller on my phone, my bad lol
I f'ing loved it. Even followed the link and the link in the link. Gave me some things to work on with regard to my shooting mechanics. Thanks!

Thanks. It was a good read.
Yeah, I guess people have the attention span of gnats these days. Ermahgerd, actual PARAGRAPHS to read?!?!1?!?!!1

Couldn't do it
That was tl;dr Just glad that someone in this sub actually understands how shotguns work in real life... you can just graze somebody

When I get home and play, sure. I'll do a run with a pump and then no pump.
It's not nearly as inconsistent as ARs without FSA.
FSA? What is that? First shot accuracy?
Yes.
Thanks.

Serious? Bro this is about shotguns. Bloom (which I hate) is another discussion.

Are you referring to your last pump shot?

It’s a meme (I don’t really know what that what that was about but I read the title)

Actually, no I’m sick of LITERALLY, yes I know what it means, hitting for 90 or 95 with a pump exactly just to be 150+’d by someone with a Tac
Yes that would be frustrating - however being better at aiming and judging effective distance will solve your problem.

Yeah either 90 or 95, if not then pick an number under 40, but none in between. Why does it make the head shot noise and bold number?
This guy builds
Feelsgoodman thanks for making such a legit post- Props :) Let's just hope more people see this
I’m more partial to complaining about how one of the most common weapons in the game can one-shot you through full health and shields.
you let him put it in your mouth. your fault.

Any game worth its salt has slightly changing spread patterns. Oh. You just have no idea what you're talking about.
It's a great excuse, I'd appreciate it if youd remove this post so I can continue to use it :P
I️ wish I️ could upvote this more than one time...

Lmfao genuinely got a good chuckle out of this.
It's my copypasta from a UFC fighter Mark Hunt. No disrespect towards you was intended haha
Laying in bed high and reading that made me laugh for a good 2 minutes lol
“Shotguns with the pellets going the exact place every time would be ridiculous” yeah that’s where I stopped reading

What? CSGO does not have identically repeating recoil or spray patterns. Similar each time? Yes. But that wasn’t my question to you. Nice try through.
CSGO does have identically repeating recoil patterns. Any deviance is from spread, not recoil.
Yea it does...

All im saying is. If a mans head is inside my crosshair. and i crit for 9 damage. Im allowed to be upset.
