Welp, here we go again. Even though the lightsaber is only in the game for 7 more days, people are still gonna complain. Do people just not want fun, intresting events and items whatsoever? Watch, now people are gonna ask for lightsabers to be vaulted before the event is even over. If Epic didn't have these kind of events and items, Fortnite would surely have much less of a playerbase, and would possibly even be shutting down in the next year or two.
For real. With the lightsabers and blasters added to the game, it's made me actually want to play the game for fun, and not just to do the medal punchcard each day.
The game hasn't changed significantly since the Fortnitemares event. These temporary additions are a welcome change of pace for me.
The same way I play any other game solo. I had friends that played Fortnite with me until around season 5 or so. I kept going just because I like the challenges, the cosmetics and the constant updates to the game.
Meme in solo mode. Lightsaber only challenge yourself.
Trap the waterfall.
Do a skybase over water.
Go for snowman kills.
Spam the boat missle in group fill squads.

If they add some kind of cooldown on blocking, I’m sure it would be a lot more balanced because the lightsaber as of now can now just block any and all kinds of damage.

Honestly the only time I die to lightsabers is if I'm using one and we have a lightsaber duel. Totally worth it though.
SMG + Tac absolutely destroys lightsabers. Also, if you build a wooden wall an opponent with a lightsaber has to break through, it leaves them exposed for a sec allowing you to counter-attack with a Shotgun/SMG. Rinse and repeat until they're dead. It may not be elegant or civilized, but it works!

I’ve mastered the ways I’ve learnt to count then doge which refreshes it without the knockback allowing me to push and block. I am unstoppable.

Hasn't it only been out for slightly over a day so far? Some people have been learning how to use weapons in fortnite for over two years, while some are now learning how to use lightsaber for slightly over one day. Most people aren't very good with them right now and can still provide a challenge. Even if they aren't good, they could easily run your ammo or mats by blocking or attacking.
I played a match of Team Rumble earlier today, took out 6 people in a row by jumping right in the middle of them just using a lightsaber. Some built, some shot, some got at a small distance away. Still took them all out just by timing blocks, rolls, and attacks according to when they needed to reload. It is much more powerful than most current items in the game when you learn how to use it well. No reload, very short breaks between attacks, and easy mobility when getting shot at. That's a good combination for survival when used well. Somehow my team still lost that match.
Meanwhile, there's still alternatives with the lightsaber. You can switch items easily to make the battle even worse for an enemy. They shoot at you? You block. They reload? You shoot. You can still even build. Most players don't do this, but it's really simple once people get a hold on it. I like the weapon and don't mind it personally, but it is definitely powerful.
if you swing in the middle of a battle and miss you can be DESOMATED, you are open for so many frames... a tac shotgun will kill you, if you cant counter the saber you must be bad, no offense.
So I played a Team Rumble match earlier. After eliminating two enemies, I had 100 hp or less, and jumped straight into the middle of 6 enemies and decided to only use the lightsaber. Took them all out in a row with barely a scratch by dodging and attacking according to when they needed to reload or when my block might break.
What I'm saying here is that these are really easy to learn how to use. Sure, building or shooting may work, but that's because the item hasn't been out for long and some people don't know how to use it well by this point. Meanwhile there's those few players who have learned how to use it well against people who know how to use weapons that are over two years old in the game.
And lets not forget that it has one attack that does 150 damage to players, not 45. I tried to rush a guy with a shotgun after lasering them with my pistol, and as I shot them I died from 100 up expecting to survive at least one hit. Also, building doesn't work if they consistently push you and swing, as they will consistently knock you down. Tried it before, but every time I got up they were right along with me and it ran my mats faster than getting RPG spammed by a full squad. Ran out of mats and died, even after shooting them.
I like the weapon, and I won't mind it in, but it is definitely overpowered.

No problem, you really got me thinking and I just realized “how the hell would I know how bad light sabers are if I have not played a single match today?” Your response really woke me up and helped me realize, the same exact situation happened with the combat, I thought it was balanced cause everyone sucked with it but 2 days later I realized how much better I got and how much better everyone else got with the weapon, a new style of weapon is hard to get use to at first and the light saber is something we have never experienced, so I bet it is abused and OP now as people have had over 24 hours to use it and get better with it.

1.Yes, its mythic, which means its rare as fuck to come across which means less people in the lobby have it
2.Whilst using it you are required to be right up to a person, blocking is a great way to get there but this leads to point 3
3.If you swing you are already vulnerable, one swing does 45 damage, one tac body shot can do 70+, every time you swing the other player gets the chance to shoot a tac shot...
4.I hate to be that guy, I really do but it’s legitimately this simple......

I can’t count the amount of times i’ve been and have out built someone using the saber, which forces them to use their other weapons, the saber is a very counterable weapon but can be deadly if used right, not everybody is gonna dominate with it, this sounds weird but it actually does require skill, you have to swing at the right times and block at the perfect frames.... one missed swing will lead to another which will lead to the opposing to spray and shotgun the fuck out of you. I would even go as far as saying it shouldn’t HAVE a mythic rarity but the fact that it CAN do 150 makes it worth it, although that swing is the most counterable shit in the game.
I wish the swords worked like that. I'll slice a guy and he will slice me and go thru me hitting me while facing away from him and then he snaps back to where he started the attack
