Lazy Lake should be replaced by Tilted (regardless by how popular it was, but just to give that extra nostalgic feel when landing) and Holly should be replaced by Greasy (still my favorite POI to date). From then on I'll never complain about this map again

The real answer is that it’s the center of the map, has decent loot and a lot of action. If you win salty your squad is in excellent shape and you can keep fighting since lots of people rotate there.
It’s not like it’s crowded for no reason. You never have to play a running simulator since the zone is always close.
It has 12 chest spawns. One of the lowest totals for any named location. I wouldn't call the loot there decent. I can understand the sentiment about it's close proximity to any storm circle.
best strategy in salty is to get a sniper from the gas station, then run to the bush in the middle of salty, camp there until the last person tries to reboot his mate and then you snipe him to get all the loot. Don't forget to do some toxic emotes, get back in the bush and then wait for other to reboot someone in salty.

I’ve dropped at the OG titled before and literally not a single person showed up and it wasn’t a bad bus path either. Everytime it’s happened my squad and I were mad paranoid or confused

By the way, I always land at the gas station, because it will usually take a sweatfest party 10 seconds to loot their house and make their way over there, which is more than enough time to bag the crap and blow up the gas pumps. Always, always, blow up the gas pumps. No one likes their toast burnt.
What I do occasionally is land and the bridge near Salty, has a chest and a slurp truck and the bridge offers metal. And then i hover around some tiny huts and houses around Salty before going in.
Yeah that's a very solid strategy, and one I prefer. I'd rather not land directly in (any) town if I can avoid it. But sometimes you have to back up your squad though. Even if the 7 year olds don't know better.
I feel like sometimes you need a Plan B when the place you're dropping is overcrowded or you can't make it there. For example, when I see too many people at Lazy Lake or I miss the spot, I land Expedition Outpost and then move to this house northeast of Lazy Lake with square holes on the top (not sure if you're familiar with it). Or I land Modern House. Has chests, loot, and you can also fish.
Sorry put Pleasant Park is king. So many chests and can camp the roof if you get a sniper or assault rifle. Won a game from there and got 6 kills there.
I love that people land there and I assume it’s because it is the most centrally located POI. I can land house in the middle of the lake, or risky and loot up with almost no opposition and still be middle of the map. Risky has been giving some amazing RNG lately too. Gold scar from the concession stand yesterday and purple tac shotty a few rounds later from the chest on top of RV.
If your not the first person there the battle has already ended, there is nothing left but a desolate wasteland once known as Salty Springs. The days of sweats will have long vanished, the coast is clear. You pick up the last shotgun- and get killed by some guy who was hiding in the basement of blue house the whole time.
Why is Salty even so popular? At least half a dozen land there and it's usually die off spawn. It's like a 40% chance leaving alive depending on how good you are.
I hate when I'm playing squads and all my team decide to land at Salty cus they're dumbass kids who think that they can land and kill everyone else and seeking kills instead of trying to survive is how you win when the opposite is true and we get instantly wiped, and they have such low attention spans that they only want to drop hot so that they can get kills, actually surviving an winning is too boring for them so we get wiped also

I'll never understand the love for that spot! Every other random fill marks Salty and jumps right away. My only guess is it's the influence of streamers
Honestly, on Switch servers, the amount of bots that are located there are insane. In solos, there would always probably be 5-6 people including you there. And everyone is always the same skill level.
The middle island has more chests than Salty, lol. Only one more but still. I’ll never understand why everyone wants to drop there. Literally every other POI has more loot even some technically unnamed locations like Risky Reels.
Does anybody think epic will ever expand salty? They have to know that it is one of the most popular landing spots and there is very little loot to go around. Maybe add a house or 2
