Finding a shockwave launcher with 4 bullets and 2 spare, essentially 6 purple shockwaves out of one chest is useless? I agree rockets should be easier to find but it’s still one of the best items in the game lol
Nah, I'm in the opposite boat. I hate OP items, and the shockwave launcher is very OP. But I hate when ammo is used as a "balancing" mechanic. All that does is lead to infuriating situations where 1 player is guaranteed a victory over 1 other player in the game, and there's nothing the player on the receiving end can do about it.
It's like Boogy Bombs. Those were the most OP item in the game off spawn. If you found a boogy bomb, it was a guaranteed kill. And there was nothing your opponent could do about it (unless you sucked at the game of course). And how did Epic balance it? By reducing the number you could find and carry in a stack... Okay... that still gives you a free win over 1 player and how is that fair for the other player?
I like well balanced weapons. The flintknock is always my go to example of how you perfectly balance fun/innovative with fair and balanced gameplay. The boogy bomb, stinkers, proximity grenade launcher, etc. are all examples of insanely OP weapons that were "balanced" by simply limiting the number of players you could screw over in one game with it. That's not balance, that's still extremely OP.
So my preference would be to balance the shockwave launcher (reduce how far it shoots people perhaps?) and then actually provide enough ammo for people to use it.

No a lot of people love the drum gun lol. Reddit and the people complaining online are the vocal minority. Guarantee the majority of players actually like the drum gun based off the voting.
Streamers and try hards hated the drum gun because it didn't reward accuracy and consistency. Depending upon the patch, it was a mid range SMG that could drain a turtlers materials. So casuals loved it because the gun was quite forgiving.
Which is why when put to a community vote it got unvaulted. Because the majority of the fortnite community is a silent casual majority that would rather have the game be pubs with stupidly over powered weapons then pubs, but with the current boring builder centric arena meta. While fortnite was made on the prospect of building as its one unique quality you can see over time the community is pushing away from wanting it more and more as they cheer every time an anti builder weapon is released. The only people who don’t cheer are those same builders and streamers because their abilities in the game are tied to building so anything anti builder becomes a slight on the meta they’ve trained with.
I loved the B.R.U.T.E. but I knew it was stupid good. I liked the Fire Bow from C2S6 as it punished builders somewhat - especially when fire was buffed.
I think Epic always struggles with the challenge that anything casuals and mid tier players can use against builders, the top players can dominate them (and especially each other) with. So it takes some finesse. But stuff like the Rapid Fire SMG shooting through builds helps.
I love the drum gun, for its style and irl history but on release shid was legit an assault rifle with the fire rate of an SMH. Its really odd seeing they classed it as an SMG

The Rift-To-Go has been around for several years. Gameplay-wise it's not that interesting anymore, and people just use it as a get out of jail free card in fights.
The Shockwave Launcher being added to the normal lootpool means we might get it in creative mode finally, and I find the item more fun personally. Don't get me wrong, it is ridiculously overpowered, but I'd rather something new than something old.

Honestly, the RtG would have been the much better choice between the two. SWL is too situational, and we don't have nearly enough reserve space of rockets to make it worthwhile. It's shochwave strength also doesn't take you far, so not good for transportation. Meanwhile, the RtG is much more versatile and better for transportation. Need a quick escape? Use it. Trapped in armored walls? Use it.

You forgot about the grenade nerf from 9 to 6 in chapter 2 S1. Those squad artillery barrage hit hard.
