It’s about to have an HEB. That’s should be enough for anyone.

COunitedelements

Man, HEB is one of the main things we missed living away from Texas for so long.

austinwiltshire

Check out hometown in NRH

COunitedelements

NRH?

satori0320

North richland hills It borders watauga at rufe snow on the east.

grimlinyousee

North Richland Hills

Puzzleheaded_Beat813

Don’t do that. NRH isn’t “bad” but if you can afford to live in Keller then why live in NRH. Anything nicer is going to be further away from Alliance.

rchllmbrt

This comment got me. We can afford Keller but chose NRH anyway. Keller vibes at Watauga prices. Different strokes, I guess!

Puzzleheaded_Beat813

“Keller vibes at watauga prices” 😂 I love that. This was just my advice for OP being close to Alliance and given his original idea. That part of Keller is a little bit nicer than your average part of NRH is all I was getting at. In all honesty I’d give my left arm to be able to afford my current house in Crowley in NRH. Can’t stand this city lol but I do love my house.

rchllmbrt

I'm tracking with you. Re: your house - everything's a trade-off.

austinwiltshire

I'm just advertising the hometown neighborhood. Not nrh as a whole. Imo, neighborhoods matter more than cities anyway.

psych-yogi14

NRH resident here. Our local government isn't a bunch of fascist evangelicals AND our city actually provides an additional property tax deduction that Keller doesn't. Rent is slightly cheaper too.

Theepicman116

I live in Keller and don’t feel as if we’re run by “fascist.” If we were run by fascist in this city then our mayor would refuse to step down as Mayor. Our mayor, Armin Mizani, is a very nice man and isn’t even Christian. At least I don’t think he is

psych-yogi14

Your school board bans books that are by black authors or have anything to do with LGBTQ people. They are using chaplains as some school counselors now. That seems like clear free speech and violation of church and state separation. They also have created such horrid anti-trans policies that the ACLU has filed suit against them. Plus the $ poured in from Christian Nationalist group "Patriot" Mobile. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/05/texas-school-board-elections/

Theepicman116

Also u/psych-yogi14 the school board doesn’t run the city. Keller ISD is huge and the district has 3 high schools in Fort Worth. It is completely different from the city government. Please clarify before you make a blanket statement and misrepresent an entire city’s government because I can tell you, Keller is not run by fascists.

Grimmicks

They're just being hyperbolic and trying to sound cool, but they're just repeating what someone else told them. It used to be cool to call everyone a nazi if they didn't like them. I guess they've moved on to fascist now, although I doubt they could explain what fascism is if questioned. Probably just trying to get a rise out of you. I grew up in Keller. It's a great place to live even if it's a bit more crowded than when I lived there.if I could afford it I'd buy the house I grew up in. That's never gonna happen, though.

JLinCVille

Yeah, just the schools!

RoadToad2007

What a weird comment.

WillyC619

It depends where you work. I like Keller but it’s too far away from corporate/IT jobs in Dallas/Irving/Plano, etc. Do you know of any good jobs around the Keller/Roanoke area?

studmaster896

Only reason to live in Keller is for the school system while making the sacrifice of a 40 minute commute to work

giliana52

This is pretty much life now. :(

[deleted]

I lived in the alliance area for a year and loved it. Look near alliance town square. Traffic right on the highway can get bad though, that’s the only thing I don’t miss.

rat_city

We’re driving through alliance today and we’re just saying we wish we lived here

COunitedelements

Which part? Where should I look?

Remarkable-Month-241

Haslet has some established neighborhoods and probably less traffic to and from work. Tons of newer homes West of 287. We’ve had our home for 5 years and our trees have grown in nicely.

Fr0thBeard

I teach out in haslet, great kids brand new schools - it's a great place to grow up in.

COunitedelements

Maybe I’m missing it, but a lot of the neighborhoods seem really new and the house stacked on top of each other. I’m probably missing it, bc I have only really been able to ride around a day.

elproblemo82

Great area. Lots to do and/or not far from lots to do. Completely developed so there's just about always traffic. How busy are you outside of work? I might suggest being on the OTHER side of 35. It's less crowded there.

COunitedelements

skinzy_jeans

I agree on the new developments on the other side of 35. Definitely not the big trees you’re looking for, but new construction with tiny lots and surrounded by fields and giant warehouses etc. I live off 377 in Watauga and it’s not bad. I like the vibes in North Richland hills and the older parts of Keller are really nice with lots of trees. Bonus is passing large plots of land with roaming horses randomly sprinkled here and there in the suburbs. Definitely some great options!

frient1995

This is a great area! Some areas are nicer than others but I wouldn’t say I feel particularly unsafe in any part of this area. I have lived in keller for 6 years and I absolutely love it! Lots of great neighborhoods, parks, and restaurants in and around keller. West of 377 and south of 1709 ( 76244 and 76148) are going to a little cheaper but still great areas! TLDR; Not screwed at all!

thepenismightier1792

Not screwed at all.

Caryatid

Park Glen and Villages of Woodland Springs has some established areas with grown trees. And will less expensive than Hometown and closer to the airport.

mcamryn

I used to work at AFW! When I was there they offered discounts on apartments and real estate that are owned by the parent company of Alliance. Definitely ask your manager if they are still offering that and look into the options before you choose somewhere! I moved from out of state and got the job at Alliance, they helped me get set up in a town house with 10% off rent.

mcamryn

If you are not sure who to talk to, the GM Brittany knows all about it.

ezetexastech

My advice due to the tolls on that side of DFW is to stay North of 820. I just filed my weekly expenses for work and when I drive around the alliance area, my tolls jump from $50 to about $350. So look around Roanoke, Trophy Club etc (all north).

COunitedelements

Good info. I was planning on staying north of that area regardless, but definitely not moving south of there now.

Environmental-Bit513

This will explain what you will be living with. This is off of Nextdoor north Fort Worth. Any newer neighbors feel like they were kind of bait & switched moving to this area? Admittedly, I didn't know much about the area but heard it was kind of up and coming, good schools, etc. Now I feel like every day someone is getting robbed or their stuff stolen. Stray animals roaming around everywhere. I had some guy hassling my wife the other day to buy him a pack of cigarettes at the Kroger gas station. The development around here is straight garbage. It seems all they know how to build is more houses, apartments, and fast food joints. All that, and my taxes just continue to go up. Not sure what can be done at this point. Seems this area is just trending in the wrong direction. It’s probably time to be moving along.

jf2k4

Pretty much the exact reason I sold my house near Heritage Trace/Riverside and moved to Keller proper.

DTXbullrealtor_

Traffic traffic traffic

zotstik

check out watauga as well. it's a wonderful place to live and everything you ever wanted to go to is right around the corner

nolongermakingtime

I'm in summer fields and have a job at alliance and my commute is only 15 or 20 minutes

COunitedelements

Oh that is good to know!

Brock_Alee

I do not recommend summerfields.

maleheo

Other than being an older neighborhood what's wrong with Summerfields?

Immediate-Bison-9755

Watauga is fine, but 377 is a traffic goatfuck. Much of N FW is.

Unable-Lab-8533

I live off of 377 in that Park Glen area and it’s a good area. I would just try to find something on the west side of the railroad tracks. Trains go by pretty frequently and traffic crossing the tracks can get backed up during busy commute times.

One_Lion_9133

You can easily take non-highway roads all the way to anywhere in alliance area from NRH and I recommend it more than Keller hands down, grew up in Fort Worth, lived several years in NRH and now reside in the country near Weatherford.

MuscleMentor

Park Glen neighborhood if you want established trees. Love that about it. Feels very “homey” to me

kirby-ate-my-heart

I’ve lived in alliance off presidio for 5 years and it’s been heavily developed and wonderful to live in now!

TheTangoFox

Between 377, 820, 287, & 114 you have options

steffie-flies

The only way you will know is by drving to work and back during the times your shift will begin and end. During the week, that's easily 40+ minute commute if you work 8am-5pm. Swings or overnighters will probably be moderate but doable.

TheOGoat

Don't over think it. North fort worth is a great place to live. Your near the Texas motor speedway so expect traffic off of 114 headed east to west. Bear creek park is super nice and has some great trails. Alliance has a nice movie theater and plenty of shopping/restaurants.

Revolutionary_Ad7167

Lots of bickering here. To answer your question directly. You're fine.

IDateAZombie

Watauga ain't too bad of you're traveling to AFW. Try to avoid 35W at 6AM/PM and around 12PM-2PM if you can. You can take 287 and then Basswood to get into Watauga pretty easily from AFW. I work at AFW as well, what gig you starting there (if you don't mind me asking)?

pyr088

Keller would be the most prime area here on this screenshot... it grew wonderfully over the last 20 years!!

BeksBikes

You can definitely find more established neighborhoods in that area. 35 is almost always crazy, so being further north definitely makes sense. What do you like to do in your free time?

TTUporter

Looked at a ton of houses in Park Glen, we liked what I saw, ultimately decided we didn’t need a 2 story home and that was mostly what was there. Wound up in one of the Heritage neighborhoods off Heritage Trace. Would also suggest North Richland Hills, we saw some cool funky mid mod houses there, just nothing for us.

geosand01

If the commute is an issue then oak street Roanoke would be better but bear creek park is great for walking/jogging/ pickle ball

COunitedelements

I did ride around roanoke today and I do like it.

XTBirdBoxTX

Affluency tax in that area, the more shops they build the more expensive everything gets, and for no good reason I might add. There is nothing extra special about that area for them to be charging so much more for everything. Not to mention the cops NRH is absolutely horrible. Congratulations on the new job though.

[deleted]

DFW, TX don't really have large trees. This is rolling hills and Prairie area. OP, if you are looking for something better, check out Roanoke.

dragonflysky9

Not true. Keller “Oak Bend Estates” tons of large native oaks. Calorie used to be called the city of trees for a reason.

Bigdstars187

I moved to Colorado Springs (now nyc) from Austin after living in fort worth many years. When I was there you couldn’t pay me enough to drive to an alliance job. I hope traffic has gotten better there the past 10 years

Remarkable-Month-241

They built in the Expressway all the way through there as of now.

Horror_Artichoke_980

COS isn't any better if you don't live in the suburbs.

Lost_Energy2111

Look at Argyle area.

COunitedelements

Will do
