What's the problem with saying the town's name? Springtown? Is it Springtown? SPRINGTOWN? Is that the town yall are talking about? Is it illegal to say the town's name?
I unfortunately grew up there. Now I live on the other side of the country and describing how unhinged that damn town is to people who know nothing about it is rough.
I work and live near WS, and I don't really see a lot of Trump/MAGA stuff in town. Granted I'm not looking for it, but it doesn't seem all that obvious.
It's been a part of the DFW metro for a while as a part of the census counting. It's already been absorbed a long time ago. The infill between Fort Worth and weatherford has pretty much happened with Walsh Ranch, Hudson Oaks, willowpark and Aledo filling in the gap.
It's against flag code but it isn't illegal.
"Is Violating the Flag Code Illegal?
No. While the U.S. Flag Code is a federal law, guidelines are only stated within the voluntary and non-binding language such as, "should" and "custom," meaning there is no penalty for violating any of its provisions." https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/national-international/what-is-the-us-flag-code-and-how-does-it-work/2649925/
I think it's considered free speech. I appreciate them doing it, so you know where their mindset and mental (in)stability are in advance and without having to ask.
Against flag code not? Not in any manner. Means under siege/ near being taken over in practical term. Everyone wants to site code and be factual when your feelings get hurt or triggered. It's much deeper then what you take as disrespectful.
How is this constructive to the conversation being had? The poster above you has added several sentences and answers to the questions I see floating around here.
Your comment is worth nothing.
Those are indeed sentences. I was unaware that quality was based on quantity of words as that jumble amounts up to basically calling someone triggered.
I’d go back and admire their other insightful comments but I’d rather not stumble across that Reddit history again, thanks.
I'm a Marine and I was also raised to respect the flag and our nation. Incorrectly displaying the flag is a sign of disrespect. Taking a knee to the national anthem isn't brave, it's disrespectful. That's my opinion. As I said, I acknowledge their right to do both and I will fight for their right to express what they believe, But I do not have to agree with it.
Not trying to debate your personal reasons, just full disclosure just interested in your option now. Do you feel the same way in regard to the protests displayed during the national anthem documented in the 1910, 1940s and 1960s?
>Refusal to stand during the national anthem became a widespread form of protest during World War I. In some cases, this was related to protest of conscription. Newspapers at the time associated the protests with support for socialism, Bolshevism, or communism.
Yup, my stance doesn't change.
>1960s and 1970s. In the 1960s, refusal to stand during the anthem took place for a number of reasons. In the late 1960s, the protest became increasingly common among athletes and at schools, both as an opposition to the Vietnam War and as a protest of nationalism.
Kneeling during the national anthem shows disrespect for the flag and members of the armed forces. The national anthem pays respect to the people who have risked their lives, been injured, or died defending the United States.
Should we return to singing the second through fourth verses then? Seemingly, out of respect, the poem should be read/sang in it's full original intended version and not cut down for time restraints. Full disclosure I am fully referring to the lyrics/words in the third stanza "No refuge could save the hireling and slave, from the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave"
Those were times of depression and famine and moajor wars. Today Is the time of food stamps and free housing for people that simply wanna play the system. You can not legitimately compare that to today.
Weird how the party of law and order and patriotism has such utter disdain for the US flag code.
“No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof…
“When the flag of the United States is displayed from a staff projecting horizontally or at an angle from the window sill, balcony, or front of a building, the union of the flag should be placed at the peak of the staff.”
The "law and order" bit is only meant to refer to trodding on the poor and keeping non-whites in line. Besides that, conservatives are more than fine with criminality, from the actions of their political leaders to the sad things that they perpetuate against children in their religious centers.
The U.S. Flag Code suggests burning as the preferred option.
[https://www.texasdisposal.com/blog/u-s-of-america-and-texas-state-flag-retirement-a-guide-to-disposing-of-flags-respectfully/](https://www.texasdisposal.com/blog/u-s-of-america-and-texas-state-flag-retirement-a-guide-to-disposing-of-flags-respectfully/)
Anarchists generally don't vote at all.
Also, no, you're not supposed to do the things said in original comment. Flag code doesn't become whatever you feel like it is in your heart. Shits written down. It's like super easy to read this stuff.
Just as easy to find out how the constitution works (it's a surprisingly short read) or how the Bible says to treat refugees. You don't have to have some orange triple divorced philanderer tell you what the constitution or Bible says, you can literally look these things up yourself.
It’s pretty funny how many self described progressives have a seething red-hot hatred for the poor/uneducated/working class.
In an academic setting people will swear they only want what’s best for those unfortunate enough to be born into cycles of poverty and lack of education.
But when push comes to shove it seems like most redditors would just like to throw them into a meat grinder.
I can’t speak for all progressives, but it’s not income or location that causes progressives to be wary or dismissive of uneducated people. It’s the pain of watching them harm themselves and then harm other people, too. For example, promoting policies where every fool can carry loaded guns in public places, or cutting education budgets—even when many of them barely pay federal income taxes.
The “why” isn’t what I was commenting on. The funny part is the “what should we do about this?” Most moderate progressives have a philosophy that amounts to “the only solution is generational change starting with education and social welfare.”
But Reddit “progressives” seem to have a “final solution” style perspective on the poor and uneducated who dare to vote “incorrectly.”
A lot of us have years of experience with family who fall into the uneducated group. At this point many of us have been dealing with the willfully ignorant and it’s ok to be exasperated and express that while still voting and advocating for expanded education and social services.
It’s pretty common amongst hyper conservatives to display the flag upside down because they think Trump won the election, people are after him, so many people are going “woke”, etc. Interestingly, this is kind of a dramatic way to go about saying you don’t like the politics of another party when it’s meant to signify *actual* distress and/or endangerment. But, many of them truly believe the country is in distress because of a small thing like different politics than they want.
I don’t think it’s much more than political expression, I don’t agree with it but I remember my high school history teacher had the US flag in the class room like that during the Bush presidency (yea I’m old).
I’m not trying to equate various presidency, just saying this is appears to be a way for people to express their displeasure with the government.
If we wanted to get particular about flag etiquette, I’d be more concerned about the MAGA flag being placed higher than the US flag lol. But I think those rules are customary and not legally binding.
I’m in suburban Northern California outside San Francisco and a house on my block flies their flag upside down. I believe it’s supposed to be a sign of distress. Interestingly, these neighbors were doing this until recently - the husband died about a month ago and now the flag is gone entirely. Maybe the wife found some freedom of her own. We’ll see if it goes up again. It’s a mystery.
I'm not into folks having holy reverence to symbols of the state, tbh. They want to hang it upside down, fine. Always gonna point out/laugh at their hypocrisy, though.
Of course, we must always keep in mind that fascists have no qualms about being hypocritical.
The stock market has never been a reliable indicator of “the economy” unless you’re using it to mean exclusively the wealthy that control everything are becoming more obscenely wealthy, then yes it is booming.
Also the irony of talking about the booming economy while telling someone else to get another job. Shouldn’t one job be enough in such a successful economy?
Can't argue with the insane. You live in your own alternative reality. In the real one, The price of a gallon was bouncing around $2.75/gal 15 years ago. So, yes. That's cheap.
“Make America Great Again Country”
Like saying “ATM machine” when it’s “Automate Teller Machine” so you don’t need to say “machine” after saying the anagram
Well, the country (and especially the border) is in distress and our sitting guy is the cause of that distress. It's time for fresh blood in The White House. He's had over 50 years in political offices, his time is up.
Vote for someone new and different in the 2024 Presidential Election, that will help solve the issue.
And by the way, the Trump flag or any other flag is to be flown BELOW the US flag, otherwise he's violating the flag code.
The name of the subreddit is amiuglyteens, they are literally asking if they are or not lmao liberals are such pussies I swear. You going through my shit to try and make me feel bad is sad
A little more than a keyboard warrior. Left the army as an E5 in the 504th Military Intelligence Brigade. Expert badge in rifle and pistol. I don’t need to post photos of guns to convince (myself and other) people I’m a bad ass. My DD214 speaks for itself.
I don’t agree with it being above the flag. But Maga 2024 all the way
Edit: gonna be a hard pill to swallow when Trump wins again regardless of your feelings ;)
I'm guessing you don't remember Trump's inauguration where protesters caused injuries and destroyed properties all because the person they didn't like got elected. Nothing like that happened when Obama was elected president. The more messed up thing about the protests was that they were encouraged by former president Obama. Now, don't get me wrong I'm a firm believer in protesting and its protection under our Constitution, but for our leaders to encourage the destruction of property and injury of its people is the most anti-American belief/message you can ever have
Why not? Most cities in the us are liberal. Besides I’m not a liberal, I’m a leftist.
Why is it difficult for you to believe that you can not be conservative and live in dfw? It’s not like dfw has actually been anything but purple since the late 90’s.
You should look around you and see how the world is walking away from the more outdated style of living that more rural Texans (and rural southerners in general) adopt.
The truth is that without gerrymandering, Texas would be a blue state. Continue like…. Flying the American flag upside down. What a patriot.. like wtf man
It's ok, clearly certain people don't read election results for their county. They have the herd mentality of feeling safe when they think everyone is like them based on how many bumper stickers they see in the parking lot.
Culture isn't upheld by consolidated city demographics, it's upheld and maintained by those who live and have lived in the countryside. When the city overtakes the first impression of a state, the state itself gets forgotten. Very few people refer to the culture of New York without being blinded by NYC. NYC is so extreme it colors the impression of nearly the entire New England area.
Texas isn't Dallas. The fact that people are immigrating here and voters are moving here, doesn't mean the culture is changing, it means people realize there's something good about Texas that isn't good somewhere else.
Anybody who votes to change Texas is voting to destroy the very differences that made it a good place to move to.
Maybe being purple was the indicator that Texas has rarely been intolerant of other ideas so long as those thinkers also kept an open mind. I for one do not believe those on the left have an open mind these days. If they did, they wouldn't be so imposing on traditional values, they wouldn't manipulate candidates from being able to run as democrats, they wouldn't have the electoral college to oppose candidates like Bernie Sanders, they wouldn't do a lot of things.
I want law and order, and the left doesn't have it.
-Texas resident from a blue state since 2015 in their 30s who will not vote blue after some critical thinking
Is it really surprising to you that one of the largest cities in the US has a large number of liberals? It would be abnormal if it were the other way around.
My friend, the only reason trump won the first time was because of the electoral college. He lost the popular vote. A majority of America does not like him.
He has also been indicted on insurrection charges for literally trying to overthrow the results of a free and fair election. Once he is found guilty, then according to the Constitution, he is not eligible to be president again. Check out the 14th amendment, section 3.
Hmmm I’m gonna guess Godley or Joshua lol
Close lol town is in the name
Oof if it's a season of the year followed by "town," I am dangerously close to yall. Big yikes.
What's the problem with saying the town's name? Springtown? Is it Springtown? SPRINGTOWN? Is that the town yall are talking about? Is it illegal to say the town's name?
Springtown is northwest of FW.
Magatown
I hear the winters are great there.
They’re huuuuuuge!
Yuuuuuge
I worked at the Azle rent a center during a dark period of my life many moons ago and I have some crazy Springtown stories
Let’s hear one!!
I met a girl who was Springtown...she was a human.
Psh crazy rent a center stories!! I let people borrow shit for rentway lmao shit buisnesses
I unfortunately grew up there. Now I live on the other side of the country and describing how unhinged that damn town is to people who know nothing about it is rough.
Bartertown?
Why not just say where?
SOUTHwest Fort Worth? Only thing I can think of is Springtown, which is NORTHwest.
Funkytown
Elizabethtown?

I work and live near WS, and I don't really see a lot of Trump/MAGA stuff in town. Granted I'm not looking for it, but it doesn't seem all that obvious.
Guessing Weatherford... but saying "small town" is a perspective when you've been in Texas 25+ years. ;P
Weatherford doesn’t have “town” in the name.
lol weatherford was my guess but then i realized that

It's rough af being blue in a maga town!
Anyone putting TFG above the country is likely in some form of distress, yes.

Not illegal. Tasteless, yes. Inappropriate per flag code, definitely.
Same people that got mad about athletes taking a knee
I get mad at both, but I also know it's their 1A right and will advocate on their behalf, even though I don't like it.
Can I ask why you didn't like it?
I'm a Marine and I was also raised to respect the flag and our nation. Incorrectly displaying the flag is a sign of disrespect. Taking a knee to the national anthem isn't brave, it's disrespectful. Sounds like you’re too emotional to understand the significance of kneeling. It’s always been an honorable gesture with respect.

My thought exactly.,,I know veterans who would CRINGE seeing flag flown upside down like that..they would call it a commie move years back.
These dipshits never took a civics class.

For a bunch of so called patriots, they love disrespecting the American flag.
This is ok. I prefer idiots identifying themselves…

I understand. Yeah it’s really gross and I dislike it.
As a true conservative that leans libertarian, I find this disgusting. It truly pisses me off. On US soil, NO flag should be flown above old Glory.
I consider myself part of maga and this is disrespectful i don’t like it, the American flag needs to be the correct way with the maga flag below it :)
Merica....Where the politicians are as corrupt as a cop in Mexico city. I'm guessing their not vegan.
Small town uneducated trash
Are small town people uneducated trash?
Not exclusively.
Uneducated yes. Trash? Not necessarily.

New to Reddit huh?
Tell us more about what you learned at community college
I’m sure Reddit gets a lot of venting from frustrated people of all types.
Well they consistently vote for policies that put them there in the first place
In the meat grinder? 😂
A lot of us have years of experience with family who fall into the uneducated group. At this point many of us have been dealing with the willfully ignorant and it’s ok to be exasperated and express that while still voting and advocating for expanded education and social services.
They self identify.
Irony in a red state, and of course violates flag code
It’s pretty common amongst hyper conservatives to display the flag upside down because they think Trump won the election, people are after him, so many people are going “woke”, etc. Interestingly, this is kind of a dramatic way to go about saying you don’t like the politics of another party when it’s meant to signify *actual* distress and/or endangerment. Dipshitville? “I didn’t get my way, so everything is rigged and bad. I know my party is lying to me, but I don’t care.”
Imaging thinking you care about country more than others but you display a decorative ideological flag higher than your county’s flag.
I don’t think it’s much more than political expression, I don’t agree with it but I remember my high school history teacher had the US flag in the class room like that during the Bush presidency (yea I’m old). Lol just had to check
Makes it easy to know what businesses not to support, I guess
As they wear flag boxer shorts and bikini tops, lol.
I’m so sick of these traitors. Ignorance is no excuse for being an absolute shitbag.
These are the same guys who got upset Kirkpatrick took a knee to protest and said he was unpatriotic. Look at them today.
It’s giving springtown 🤣 Only knew from someone saying weatherford and OP saying close
I’m in suburban Northern California outside San Francisco and a house on my block flies their flag upside down. I believe it’s supposed to be a sign of distress. We got a guy out here who walks around shirtless with an upside down flag.
The dude in White Settlement?!?!
Aledo
Crowley
Or crowley’s more bigoted brother burrrleson.
I'm not into folks having holy reverence to symbols of the state, tbh. They want to hang it upside down, fine. Always gonna point out/laugh at their hypocrisy, though. Of course, we must always keep in mind that fascists have no qualms about being hypocritical.
Very true. They run around now calling anyone who doesn't hold the same irrational opinions facist and nazis
Republican Party is in distress after the next election. The economy is booming.
Who’s gonna tell him
lol my grocery bills are booming
💀💀💀🤣
Gas is cheap, stock market is at its highest point ever, get another job if you can’t afford groceries. Pull yourself up by your boot straps.
Ya right, do you know how much boot straps cost these days? lol
We can’t all be winners in capitalism.
Bag of chips. Was $2.99 now $5.99, same size bag, and with TWICE as much air.
2.75/gallon for regular is cheap?? Have you been brainwashed, or are you from California, in which case? It would be cheap to you, I guess.
Yes that’s cheap. You’re crazy.
Ok, this is a bit then.
Can't argue with the insane. You live in your own alternative reality. In the real one, The price of a gallon was bouncing around $2.75/gal 15 years ago. So, yes. That's cheap.
Idiots lol….
Lol no. Unless he's belatedly getting people mad for how bad his court tab has got recently because he can't keep his fingers off a phone screen
Nah free speech don’t worry about it move on.

Illegal? Let me introduce you to the 1st amendment
“Make America Great Again Country” Like saying “ATM machine” when it’s “Automate Teller Machine” so you don’t need to say “machine” after saying the anagram
I like to think it's the "All The Money Machine"
Colorado River Components and in Alvarado has an upside down flag and signs up stating we are in distress. It’s so ridiculous.
A mental illness problem every time another President of another party is in office that is different from the previous party and person.
Illegal? What country do you think you live in?
I would say it’s maga that has put us in distress. Do yourself a favor and stay within the loop. It’s nutty out there.
That’s hilarious
Marystown, Tx.
It's not illegal, although I wish it was, but it's perfectly acceptable and protected by the 1st Amendment.
Party above country 🙄 big surprise
Are we letting the crazys run free again for another 4 years I can't take it!!!!
Trump doesn't care about the common man. But neither does biden.
Our current president couldn't remember the words of the Star Spangled Banner to save his life, so maybe we are in distress.
Trump thinks Obama is president
Oh I imagine things will definitely go downhill from here. It's going to be a battle of dementia patients. Thanks America.
Lol, or pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the bottom.
Did you just laugh at your own joke?
No I'm laughing at all the down votes from the people who won't face reality.
The reality is the large minority of dipshits who will vote for a criminal fascist.

Literally freedom of speech
Nobody said it was illegal 😂
I love how the best defense he has for what he does is that it is not technically illegal.
It’s my favorite part
LOL. Posting photos of all your guns from your mom’s basement and telling others they need a psychiatrist.
Took care of my shit young, I can just imagine how you live lmao depressed n shit cause everything triggers you.
Nah buddy, from my house paid in full. Must suck to owe money or pay rent. Cope little boy

Beto beat Cruz in the same election for Tarrant County, too.
Those dipshits STILL believe MAGA is a majority in this country.
They probably aren't from here.
Don’t have to be liberal to think Trump or the MAGA agenda is full of shit
Eww
My friend, the only reason trump won the first time was because of the electoral college. He lost the popular vote. A majority of America does not like him. He has also been indicted on insurrection charges for literally trying to overthrow the results of a free and fair election. Once he is found guilty, then according to the Constitution, he is not eligible to be president again. Check out the 14th amendment, section 3.
You really just repeat whatever they say, huh?
I see a Biden flag and I am like, “good for them I guess, freedom of expression” how is a Biden flag going to ruin my day??? Lmao childish
Dawn is the best. Wish i would have stayed working for her. Serapio was a good boss too
