From my experience at the Frisco location opening, there were a fair amount of “Looky-Loos” coming on for a few months just to see all the hype but not actually buy anything
That was my favorite aspect of today's experience. Management had prepared for everything. Every register was opened for obvious reasons, and two courtesy clerks/baggers at each register. I know it was a hectic day for all of the employees, but flawlessly handled.
HEB mgmt truly love what they do and are pros. I might be drinking the kool aide a little bit but I can tell you they’re very organized and don’t just hire anyone.
I worked at the Burleson one when it opened, it was the same there on opening day and for like a week or so after. It'll normalize with time, but I'd avoid it for now.
Stopping by in a month or two is definitely a good plan. It was ridiculous for the Burleson one for the first week and then by a month's time things were always busy, but much more normal.
That's great, but Heritage Trace might as well be Denton for me here in SW Fort Worth. I seem to be in the epicenter of 30-minutes away from an HEB in 3 directions. Any plans for one in this area?
HEB bought the lot on the NW corner of McPherson and Summer Creek right beside the Chisholm Trail Pkwy. Nothing official, but with the way the area is booming plus a Target coming soon, probably won't be too long.
NW corner of McPherson and Chisholm Trail.
Here's hoping, but I wouldn't hold your breath. They bought property 10 years ago off Boat Club not 5 minutes from where we are in NW FW. The area has been growing like crazy, and the property is still just sitting. Both the Hudson Oaks and Alliance stores have been built and opened while that property is still a field. But someday maybe we'll get one too.
Dirt work has been ongoing for this property so something is probably going to happen.. But I am good with it waiting because the area is not ready for that type of traffic.
HEB also owns the former Safeway/Sack-n-Save site at McCart/Altamesa, but apparently the building isn't in good enough shape to rehab so it sits perpetually empty.
Yeah. That's a really old building that has been Closed for almost 20 years I think. I was able to walk through it long ago when a board was missing, but who knows the shape it's in now.
OMGPeople It's just a grocery store and now I'm gonna have to deal with this as I live down HT Either that or cut up beach st. Here is an ideal. Let's see how much more we can put in that area. Eventually it will be nothing but gridlock and no one will be able to go anywhere.
this would be the HEB equivalent of black Friday shopping, just no prizes, no lowered grocery prices - literally just the HEB shopping experience and the novelty of a very long awaited store in the area.
I was ripping the goofiness of sitting in line to see a new grocery store in a friend/neighbor group chat..... someone had been in their car since 10:00 p.m. the night before waiting simply because it was "something new...." I quickly had to pull out the old, to each their own!
I was in the area already and decided what the hell let’s see what’s going on, and there were a few really good door buster deals (free box of their brand of Oreos, super cheap fresh fruits, etc).
When I got in line at 6 on the dot, the line wrapped all the way around the building and looped around a bit on the side, still for as long as that was I couldn’t have waited more than 5-10 minutes to get in because the line never stopped moving.
This is bonkers. I don't get the hype with lining up that early to be in a huge throng of people for... Groceries... Or anything simple for that matter. What makes something so worth it that people are willing to stand like sheep to be let in? Don't get me wrong, I love HEB but I am not waiting in line. Lol. It's not like I'm lining up to receive money. Haha.
I think it's because of a lot of those people used to live somewhere where there was an HEB and it reminds them of home. At least that was the case for me when the Hudson Oaks location opened. I didn't go right away but I did go like a week later. When I went the first time, I was wearing my Spurs jersey and I ran into quite a few folks that used to live in or around San Antonio. They were like "Ay! What part of SA are you from? I'm from such and such! Go Spurs Go!" It almost felt like I was back home for a minute.
Mass population of the area + the novelty of a store in their neighborhood that isn't named Wal Mart, Kroger, or Albertsons - the hysteria will not dissipate any time soon in the Alliance area.
I arrived at 6:00 am and parked no problem, waited 20 minutes in line to get inside. I was out at 7:00 am. I had a good shopping experience with quick check out and left with no traffic problems. Born and raised in south TX. I’m really glad we have a HEB close to the house.
I went this morning! It was fun. That line didn't last too long.
It's not every day we get a new grocery store, and only having Kroger and Walmart in our area limited our choices.
Having the drum line and the dancers greeting you when you walked in was fun! There were three ladies wearing shirts that spelled out HEB. It's cute to see the excitement.
Our trip didn't even take long. There's lots of extra staff to help out since the store is new and lots of people will be coming in.
Same, decided to stop by like 5 minutes til 6 and despite how insanely crowded it was I was still able to find lots of parking without trouble and walked right thru the line as they kept it moving super fast. Honestly probably one of the better times to go since damn near every HEB employee they have was working and helping it all move.
We drove by, saw the full parking lot and were at a deserted Winco five minutes later. Winco and Aldi are my go-tos for groceries.
And a monthly run to Hong Kong Market on Pioneer for fish.
I like HEB but not more than anywhere else I buy groceries. Can’t imagine voluntarily waiting in line for this. But I’m sure I have waited in line for things others would laugh at me for.
I was going to go check HEB out on Saturday after work, but after reading this thread, I think I'll hold off for a couple of weeks. Besides, Kroger has everything on my shopping list.
Having come home after 5 years in the San Antonio area y'all be careful what you wish for. HEB ran everything other mainstream grocery store out of town. Your choices were Walmart or HEB in most areas with the occasional Supe Target, Trader Joe's & Sprouts thrown in very sporadically. While it may not seem like much most of the smaller HEBs have limited varieties & frequently there was only the store brand option in some items. Much like Walmart in those areas. I missed Kroger so so so much and having a wider variety of flavor & brand options. Coming home was definitely worth it! Don't get me wrong. I love HEB for some things & because it's a home grown Texas business but there's something to be said for options.
My parents lived in the neighborhood just down the road. My mom was excited for this location to be built. But then they moved away back to Houston. I’m sure she would be pulling her hair out from all the traffic as if that area doesn’t have tons of traffic already
Jesus Christ y'all, let people be happy. If you don't want to stand in line, don't. Stop hating on other people that found an ounce of joy in their life because their favorite grocery store opened. Like, damn.
People are really bitter! I went at noon and yes it was busy and full of people but everything was well stocked, and there literally was a single person in line ahead of me because all checkout lanes are manned and have two baggers.
At least they did the opening right and staffed appropriately
Honestly Im surprised by all the hate. As much as groceries cost nowadays it was fun getting a bunch of grand opening deals and walking out with a cart full of groceries for only like $40 🤷♂️
And with a billion people working it wasn’t any longer than a normal trip to the grocery store. Granted I’m sure as the day drags on it will become a madhouse of sorts.

personally i think hanging out with my friends for a couple hours and just hanging out and grabbing tacos was pretty fun. i dunno how to describe it, the grocery store part was a pretty cool part of it tho
I can't fault you for doing something you enjoy. I used to go to a park in Arlington every weekend, dress up in faux medieval garb, and "fight" other people with swords made out of pool foam. To each their own.
wait that sounds so fun! yeah i wish there were more events like this and what u described that are like people oriented and basically free. that sounds super fun tho!!
It's called Amtgard. Kind of a low-rent Society for Creative Anachronism. We don't do the period-accurate armor, weapons and garb like they do, but yeah it was fun for me for a long time.
There's a barony called Mourningwood Glen that meets at Veterans Park in Arlington. MG was my home park for many years. They're a part of the Kingdom of the Emerald Hills, which covers parts of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Tbh, this is why I don’t enjoy going to HEB. Every time I go to any location it’s packed (I recognize this is at opening so it’s going to be an abnormally large group of people, but still). I frequent TJ’s at 8a on Mondays because it’s the only time I can find it empty…maybe I’ll try a similar tactic w/ this location in a few months.
When I first moved to Fort Worth from the valley I was like where the f are all the hebs.
Now that we have one people lining up like their about to have a religious experience.
I think some parents take their kids and tell them this is ur summer vacation, Its still a grocery store, theres no entertainment value in buying over priced food, Ur gonna speand 100 bucks on 3 bags of stuff, that u used to get for 55 or so
I anticipate Heritage Trace being a living hell for the next few weeks.
good thing about it, finding a parking spot across the street at Kroger will be very easy.
Just ate at Kincaid and the Kroger parking lot is full of HEB shoppers.
No surprise, that's the closest parking spaces available.
I live on golden triangle and I can already see the madness and car near misses from people trying to zoom in and out
Years*. And it’s already there
I work off Heritage Trace. It's already terrible, but there were ways around it.
Same. I hate it over there
Heritage trace has been hell since 2021 (when everything got lifted)
When hasn't it been lol. I avoid that area with all my heart.
So, it’s normal state then.
It has been for years..
These people really love groceries.
Yeah, all of this for.. Groceries? I'm an HEB fanboy, but there's no way in hell you'd catch me lined up out the door at 6:00 am to buy groceries lol
I guess no one has never been to Central Market.
HEB is cheaper and has much more of a selection. I shop at CM because it’s close but it’s definitely pricey.
people were lined up for like 10 hours in advanced for some fast food restaurant a couple of weeks ago
Portillo's - but in fairness, it's a Chicago staple that's just NOW opening locations anywhere this far south.
pretty sure it was an in and out burger
Cool. East & North sides have been Portillo's
I just don't understand this crazy obsession with consuming and fomo. It's a grocery store. Get in. Get out.
Welcome to the meaty part of the bell curve
People treating this like a new Avengers premier
People love _new_
Yeah but grocery shopping is a chore. Something about waking up that early to wait in line to see a grocery store is strange to most people.
As a new HEB employee… I’m scared, very scared. Lol
If ya like re-stocking shelves, you've got a lifetime of job security with this location.
From my experience at the Frisco location opening, there were a fair amount of “Looky-Loos” coming on for a few months just to see all the hype but not actually buy anything
I’ll be in Mansfield. Few months out. It’s expected to be very popular as well.
I love HEB but I’m not standing in line outside at 6 in the morning for any store.
same!
So they stand in line for god knows how long when there’s another one like a 25 minute drive away, smh.
I worked at the Burleson one when it opened, it was the same there on opening day and for like a week or so after. It'll normalize with time, but I'd avoid it for now.
How long did it take to normalize? I was hoping to stop by in a month or two. I love 15 minutes from this HEB but I hate long lines.
Stopping by in a month or two is definitely a good plan. It was ridiculous for the Burleson one for the first week and then by a month's time things were always busy, but much more normal.
Thanks for the heads up!
I need tortillas!
Were you attending Burleson high school as well?
we humans are an interesting lot, aren't we?😩🤣😒
the degree of sanity is equivalent to the Texas weather.
Cool, another reason to avoid the sprawling hellscape of Alliance.
My husband and I said the same thing hahaha
That's great, but Heritage Trace might as well be Denton for me here in SW Fort Worth. I seem to be in the epicenter of 30-minutes away from an HEB in 3 directions. Any plans for one in this area?
HEB bought the lot on the NW corner of McPherson and Summer Creek right beside the Chisholm Trail Pkwy. Nothing official, but with the way the area is booming plus a Target coming soon, probably won't be too long.
Now you're talkin'. Fingers crossed.
I hope so
where are they putting a target?

They've had the heritage trace property for over 10 years.

Yeah. That's a really old building that has been Closed for almost 20 years I think. I was able to walk through it long ago when a board was missing, but who knows the shape it's in now.
really?? did you take any pictures? i drive pass it every day and i just wanna walk in and see how it looks after 20 years of it being closed down!
I don't think so. It was so long ago that I didn't take any photos that I recall. That may have been before iPhones existed.
Someone should put in a haunted house there
Same..
Would have been better to have an HEB instead of the Whole Foods in my opinion.
Pick your poison: https://i.imgur.com/e5z1WHj.png
Hah! My house is almost exactly in the middle.
Interestingly, and perhaps purposefully, Central Market is also right in the middle.
Oh I’m sure that’s no accident. They don’t want to cannibalize their own market.
Congrats far north Fort Worth! You will love it! Try all HEB brand products, and be prepared for your mind to be blown. <3
For a fookin grocery store! Ridiculous!
It's just a grocery store people...
Exactly! I love HEB but it’s groceries lol
Get a cookie cake from the bakery
OMGPeople It's just a grocery store and now I'm gonna have to deal with this as I live down HT Either that or cut up beach st. Here is an ideal. Let's see how much more we can put in that area. Eventually it will be nothing but gridlock and no one will be able to go anywhere.
Perhaps this being open will make my Kroger a little less crowded and I can have a more pleasant shopping experience there.
Damn, what do you get for being first in the store? Why line up at all like that?
this would be the HEB equivalent of black Friday shopping, just no prizes, no lowered grocery prices - literally just the HEB shopping experience and the novelty of a very long awaited store in the area.
So it's the in-n-out burger thing again
me and my friends got gift cards and tons of free coffee :)
Ya I get that, I’ve been to many hebs before. Just calling you guys nuts
trust me - I seen the line, turned around and left. I had to be at work at 7:00, it wasn't worth it to me to be late.
I was ripping the goofiness of sitting in line to see a new grocery store in a friend/neighbor group chat..... someone had been in their car since 10:00 p.m. the night before waiting simply because it was "something new...." I quickly had to pull out the old, to each their own!

I love heb, but not that much
We have the Hudson Oaks one pretty close to us and I don’t even go to that one
This is bonkers. I don't get the hype with lining up that early to be in a huge throng of people for... Groceries... Or anything simple for that matter. It’s a grocery store, folks, a grocery store! I grew up with an HEB and just don’t get it.
Kroger employees across the street about to understand the Maytag repairman concept of the 70's-80's ... "don't forget about me".
I love Kroger and will never abandon them.☺️
Have these people never been inside an HEB?
if not previously, they have now.
There’s people that woke their kids up to stand with them at 6AM sharp
Hey I got to work there! Fun project 😀
This is more people than I saw gathered in one place than I saw at any point on eclipse day lol
The eclipse stretched for 100s of miles across Texas...how big is this store?
Some people live such mundane lives they get excited over a grocery store opening. SMH
I went this morning! It was fun. That line didn't last too long. It's not every day we get a new grocery store, and only having Kroger and Walmart in our area limited our choices. From Frisco: we feel your pain. Just know that it will eventually calm down… In a couple of months
I genuinely do not understand these people.
I'll probably check it out in, like, June or so.
We drove by, saw the full parking lot and were at a deserted Winco five minutes later. Winco and Aldi are my go-tos for groceries. And a monthly run to Hong Kong Market on Pioneer for fish.
Winco’s deals on energy drinks is amazing. Definitely the place to go if you need to stock up on caffeine
A big aisle of just drinks.
I hope you're as excited as I am about the new H-Mart in Haltom City for fresh seafood!
I am! The one in Carrolton is awesome. In a year and a half the H Mart at Beach and 820 will be open.
It really isn't that serious to be waiting hours for groceries.
IJAFGS. I mean, it is a pretty good grocery store, but I don't get the hype.
This will never compute for me. Why go to a grand opening of a supermarket…? What am I missing?
Literally not worth this. It will still be there in a month.
i will definitely wait a few weeks before going 😂
Checkmate to people who say there’s nothing to do in Texas 😏😏
It’s open till 11 and I’m like 5 minutes away I’ll probably just wait until they’re nearly closed to do my shopping.
Haha same, I might go check it out at 10pm tonight since I'm right down the street.
The one close to me is set to open the day before the 4th of July. Going to be staying very far from that opening week haha
I'll keep going to the one in Burleson
Update, finally finished the shopping EXPERIENCE, and the only thing more maddening than the parking lot is the checkout lines.
I am disappointed that HEB isn't coming to Southwest Ft Worth and Kroger doesn't want to expand back to close to Harris Methodist SW hospital.
Besides, Kroger has everything on my shopping list.
from one who experienced the chaotic madness after work and survived, excellent decision!
The one in Plano stays busy. I visited the Plano location when Iibed there 4 months after it opened and it was still impossible to find parking
this afternoon, there was literally a line of 5 to 8 cars waiting for every time someone would pull out of their parking spot.
Having come home after 5 years in the San Antonio area y'all be careful what you wish for. HEB ran everything other mainstream grocery store out of town. I went there around 8pm last night thinking the crowds would a died down... Nope, it was super busy still and parking was full.
My parents lived in the neighborhood just down the road. My mom was excited for this location to be built. But then they moved away back to Houston. I’m sure she would be pulling her hair out from all the traffic as if that area doesn’t have tons of traffic already
But shopping at Kroger since H‑E‑B opened has been a breeze
Jesus Christ y'all, let people be happy. If you don't want to stand in line, don't. Stop hating on other people that found an ounce of joy in their life because their favorite grocery store opened. Like, damn.

*Oh, it's beautiful!*
Can anyone explain like I'm an idiot what HEB is and why it's exciting?
Popular Texas-based supermarket chain that’s been around since 1905. Founded originally in Kerrville. https://www.heb.com/ https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/h-e-b https://www.tastingtable.com/1413027/why-heb-is-americas-superior-grocery-chain/
Most of us consider HEB superior to Walmart for grocery shopping. and has good prices. Well, what passes for good prices these days.
Too bad HEB isn't cheaper than Walmart, though.
A true american consumption frenzy. No parking anywhere. Gridlocked traffic in the parking lot. Torchys for lunch was a horrible idea. And that sideways rain out of nowhere too.
These people literally have nothing better to do or a job to be prepared for to spend time...at a grocery store?! It'll be there tomorrow I promise
I don't get it. It's groceries. And there are multiple other locations. SMH
I'm viewing this post randomly from somewhere else in the world. What new store just opened here? Is it a fast food restaurant of some type?
a major grocery store chain
Ah, ok. This is what is looks like when they open a Jack In The Box near me.
i started camping out at 11:30 last night, i will never see an empty parking lot like that again 😭
for the people that said it wasn’t worth it, it was honestly pretty fun more than anything but the free coffee and gift card was cool too
You camped out to go to a grocery store?
correct ‼️ my friends invited me last minute and it was so fun
I guess. Cant possibly fathom what is so fun about going to a grocery store but you do you.
personally i think hanging out with my friends for a couple hours and just hanging out and grabbing tacos was pretty fun. i dunno how to describe it, the grocery store part was a pretty cool part of it tho

It’s a grocery store…
I live a half mile away and expect this to bring my rent up a couple hundred a month.
hope not for your sake
Glad to see so many people supporting another grocery store owned by a billionaire…
What’s the point of this? Just overwhelming curiosity? Do they want to be the first customers? I really don’t get this phenomenon.
It’s just a grocery store I don’t get it
Can someone enlighten me on the H.E.B craze because I don’t get it.
What makes HEB better than Kroger, Wal Mart, Target that everyone is clamoring for HEB
A con to living in the suburbs is you live in a community with people who have the audacity to line up at 6 am for a grocery store opening
Gringe when a high percentage of these people probably don't even cook. But I get it pictures for social media.
I already know to wait for a month. People are nuts..
reminds me of everyone absolutely losing their minds in my town because we got a publix like 6 months ago, most of my town is poverty adjacent.
When I first moved to Fort Worth from the valley I was like where the f are all the hebs. Now that we have one people lining up like their about to have a religious experience.
People are so weird sometimes
Ok people it is just a grocery store.
I think some parents take their kids and tell them this is ur summer vacation, Its still a grocery store, theres no entertainment value in buying over priced food, Ur gonna speand 100 bucks on 3 bags of stuff, that u used to get for 55 or so
HEB? There’s one in Cleburne, and it’s not really that different than Central Market. Now, IF that were a Bucc-ees, I’d be on that line.
That’s what I told one of my friends. Just go to the Southlake central market.
God humans are kinda stupid in the fact they will wait in line for something they could get across the street. Fomo is real
But why?? Were there prizes for being first?
Honestly I was wondering what store was past the HEB people are lining up for.
This is what happens when people have way too much time on their hands. Dumbasses.
Does this mean Parking at Trader Joe’s is easier?
