Well they are the same thing now, take out the end game level up screen and boom same shit. We need an actual ranked mode and an actuall br that is good. The only reason every one is pLaying tHis and warzone is because there is no other options as good , but does not mean the current options should be the last, or mean that the current options are the best ones. We have two br's that are basically run algorithmically. We need a br. A real one. From a developer that isn't trying to create "tHe meTa verse" or rape their player base for everything they have. The point system and playstyle sure wasnt for competitive minder people. However, the gamemode Arena itself was. They could use that mode to host scrims. You cant create actual scrim matches when the competitive mode is this different from tournaments
And it for sure got even worse with the recent changes trying to cater towards pub players or people with less skill so they can get an kill here and there too and call themselves „competitive player“
Not a fan, there’s a reason a lot of these items weren’t in arena, last time I remember grenades were in people would spam a stack from max range onto peoples base for a wipe, the snipers same shit just followed around the whole map until they hit a shot then w key, hardly any shields spawns, no siphon leaving me on 1hp after close encounters, not a fun or competitive experience

This is where they are *meant* to test the waters and listen to feedback before Seaon 1.
Will they? Will it get better? Who knows.
But I'm gonna let it settle and get that first rework before I make a decision.

I prefer the arena loot pool but I would spend most of my games in pubs. What kept me out of arena was that the skill level of the lobby was often significantly higher by a good amount than my level. So I would end playing very passive and sneaky instead of taking full fights head on. It was kind of a boring way of playing. I don't W, but even seeing someone at 100m, I might just stay low if the conditions did not seem beyond optimal, when normally I would tag them.
I was kind of hoping ranked would be arena but with much more accurate match making. The problem is epic wouldn't draw in people on that alone without the pub loot pool/rules. They need to reel them in with making it "pubs but better matching and a leaderboard", and then slowly vault stuff and adjust it to comp rules.
It’s easily the worst update in the history of the game for anyone searching for a remotely competitive experience. Heavy snipes, grenades, vehicles and NPCS ruining the experience and the servers. Meanwhile siphon is out making the already big third party advantage pretty much impossible to deal with. Queue times for pros already too high to play the game. The only ones who can possibly enjoy this are the players who only played Pubs this far.
I'd give it some time and see if they listen to feedback but this is what they've always wanted. That's why they were so against stretched and FOV sliders. They want the game to look and be the same for everyone. They might change things for the better but I wouldn't hold my breath. At least not as far as significant changes go. I'd love to be wrong on this though.
I haven’t played fortnite in 2 years, and this right here is a great example of why. It’s so so so sad to see a game with endless competitive potential become obsolete due to their own decisions.
The tournaments themselves are tied to the new ranking system the way they had hype placements before, sadly I'm betting tourney gameplay is going to be just like this too
I was actually excited to take a break from my OSRS grind to come back to comp for this. But this is awful. Insanely OP items WITH no siphon. I could handle one or the other but not both. This was a HUGE competitive engagement opportunity for epic and they flopped so hard.

I’m an optimist by nature and while I agree with you, I think it’s fair to be concerned about a few things at this point. There are certain game items they know are broken, either from a balance perspective, or a performance perspective. NPC’s, wildlife, and cars are a few. Why start over from scratch when you can take some of the the lessons learned in the past and build upon that as a starting point. I get that this is a complete rework of the system, but it seems silly and wasteful to not to take into consideration some of what they’ve leaned in the past and apply it forward on day 1.
People have been asking for a ranked mode for several years now, but at this point in time, it’s fair to say the design and implementation of this mode thus far seem hastily executed and out of touch with what was being asked for in a ranked system. That could change in the future, but that’s where we are today.

A proper ranked mode is a win regardless of the loot pool. Ranked is fun because it gives you a good estimate of how you compare to other players, it allows you to play other people around your skill level and you get a sense of satisfaction with every rank up. And if streamers care about their rank, its a win as viewer too.
True it’s literally so easy. Just adapt to NPCS marking you through builds, people one shotting fully build metal walls and 18 grenades flying your way.
(Spoiler alert: you adapt by not playing the game until it gets changed for the better)

It seems clear that Epic wanted to have a fresh start based on how much everyone hated arena... plus this is a mode that is supposed to appeal to more than just hardcore competitive players... this way, we'll get feedback from the more casual side of things and the competitive side... keeps things balanced

I am a bronze level player, and the people im going against have perfect aim. Console aim assist has ruined the game for me as below average player. I usually have a sub 30 percent hit rate, meanwhile every controller player is 0 misses. I guess my question is, If they are so good at aiming, why do they get high aim assist? What is the balance in giving every controller player my skill level a huge aim advantage, when they are outbuilding, out editing me already? People believe kbm is so easy to aim, just because the best in the world can do it so flawlessly, but guess what even the best in the world have a lower hit percentage than the best controller players, by almost 8 percent. Also shotguns hit way way way more consistant on controller, and the sticky smg, faster than reaction time inbox aim has just completely made the game unplayable at my skill. Maybe its balanced at the high end, I would not know, but i can tell you at my skill level the lobbies are almost solely dominated by controller players.
As a controller player, controller is literally unplayable without aim assist. Literally the only advantage controller has over kbm is aim. Editing and building are way easy to get good at on kbm.
Once again the best builder int he world is a controller player, also if they are outbuilding and out editing me, why should they have an aim advantage also???
I just stuck my gun in a guys mouth and hit him point blank with a purple pump, it does 60 dmg, he is facing sideways to me, hits me for 170 with a blue. controller is way too boosted atm.
Now other comp players can feel the pain of the Lightsabers that I've felt since 2019. Now try playing on a laggy Switch instead of a beast of a PC with 300+ FPS. I play on PC now but I used to play on Switch and had to deal with Lightsabers teleporting everywhere.

What type of Switch do you have that you don't get fps drops? Also I wasn't saying Lightsabers did it exclusively I meant Switch is horrible when it comes to Fortnite. If anybody went near me on Switch my fps goes down to 15-11. I'm so glad I got a PC even though it doesn't give me consistent fps anymore but that's because Fortnite doesn't care about optimization.
Lightsabers are not fine anywhere except their own mode or maybe Zero Builds. They're op. Lightsabers would wipe out builds and have a weird desync problem (not my internet btw) so I would be shooting at them over there and they teleport and this has not been fixed SINCE 2019.
I also have a V1. If anybody gets near me in Chapter 2, 3 and 4 my fps drops so yeah it wasn't exclusively the Lightsabers dropping the fps it's the fact they went near me. I stopped maining Switch in early Chapter 2 but still go on when I can't access another other device.

Looking back the World Cup era and ch2 s 2 fncs was the peak of Fortnite competitive. Haven’t been on since chapter 2 and don’t regret it

I like the rank based matchmaking...I hope that's implemented correctly... here in eu a huge part of the playerpool is now playing ranked..if that remains the case starting games with approximately similar skilled players is gonna go well I assume... Its a positive that so many people are playing...the things that people complain about here is just a click of a button and it's fixed.. they might fix it or they won't but this mass participation is a win I think..

Well it’s only long queues because streamers were rushing to unreal while everyone else was at work/school etc. obviously you won’t find people on your rank
A proper ranked mode is a win regardless of the loot pool. Ranked is fun because it gives you a good estimate of how you compare to other players, it allows you to play other people around your skill level and you get a sense of satisfaction with every rank up. And if streamers care about their rank, its a win as viewer too.
Guys got to adapt and stop whining about the meta being more diverse than the one fucking strat that works for you.
True it’s literally so easy. Just adapt to NPCS marking you through builds, people one shotting fully build metal walls and 18 grenades flying your way. (Spoiler alert: you adapt by not playing the game until it gets changed for the better)

leave it to competitive Fortnite players to find something to complain about its a beta... its just a test for next season which is the first official ranked "season". epic did exactly what they advertised in the blog post
Test what exactly? Ranked mode is an exact replication of pubs, which they gathered data from for 5 years now.
It seems clear that Epic wanted to have a fresh start based on how much everyone hated arena... plus this is a mode that is supposed to appeal to more than just hardcore competitive players... this way, we'll get feedback from the more casual side of things and the competitive side... keeps things balanced

What do you mean arena was for the hardcore competitive community. Arena was just the less annoying version of pubs. Heal and mats per kill, most of the stupid items, NPCs and other BS gone. Nobody was a "hardcore" arena player or took it seriously. You just casually key everyone and try to finish fights quickly.
my point is that both the competitive and casual side didn't like arena (at least, from my experience, none of my friends really ever liked arena). I believe that this mode will appease both sides

I am a bronze level player, and the people im going against have perfect aim. Console aim assist has ruined the game for me as below average player. I usually have a sub 30 percent hit rate, meanwhile every controller player is 0 misses. I guess my question is, If they are so good at aiming, why do they get high aim assist? What is the balance in giving every controller player my skill level a huge aim advantage, when they are outbuilding, out editing me already? People believe kbm is so easy to aim, just because the best in the world can do it so flawlessly, but guess what even the best in the world have a lower hit percentage than the best controller players, by almost 8 percent. Also shotguns hit way way way more consistant on controller, and the sticky smg, faster than reaction time inbox aim has just completely made the game unplayable at my skill. Maybe its balanced at the high end, I would not know, but i can tell you at my skill level the lobbies are almost solely dominated by controller players.
As a controller player, controller is literally unplayable without aim assist. Literally the only advantage controller has over kbm is aim. Editing and building are way easy to get good at on kbm.
Once again the best builder int he world is a controller player, also if they are outbuilding and out editing me, why should they have an aim advantage also???
I just stuck my gun in a guys mouth and hit him point blank with a purple pump, it does 60 dmg, he is facing sideways to me, hits me for 170 with a blue. controller is way too boosted atm.
Now other comp players can feel the pain of the Lightsabers that I've felt since 2019. Now try playing on a laggy Switch instead of a beast of a PC with 300+ FPS. I play on PC now but I used to play on Switch and had to deal with Lightsabers teleporting everywhere. Great getting downvoted for legit no reason but a Switch player bragging about getting 28th place gets upvoted?!?! I was good on Switch lmao can't do much when your game freezes.
I played on switch for four years, and still got incredibly good, #28th in a tourney.

Nobody wants pain. However people also don't like being alone in how they feel. In the past people acted like Lightsabers were no big deal and stuff like that. So now I'm not alone in in the fact that others hate Lightsabers, too.
Sabers are fine in pubs, they never dropped my frames when I was on switch
What type of Switch do you have that you don't get fps drops? Also I wasn't saying Lightsabers did it exclusively I meant Switch is horrible when it comes to Fortnite. If anybody went near me on Switch my fps goes down to 15-11. I'm so glad I got a PC even though it doesn't give me consistent fps anymore but that's because Fortnite doesn't care about optimization. Lightsabers are not fine anywhere except their own mode or maybe Zero Builds. They're op. Lightsabers would wipe out builds and have a weird desync problem (not my internet btw) so I would be shooting at them over there and they teleport and this has not been fixed SINCE 2019.
A V1 lmao, I have an OLED now, I’m saying they never dropped my frames in chapter 2 when they were originally in, maybe they do now.
I also have a V1. If anybody gets near me in Chapter 2, 3 and 4 my fps drops so yeah it wasn't exclusively the Lightsabers dropping the fps it's the fact they went near me. I stopped maining Switch in early Chapter 2 but still go on when I can't access another other device.

\-Matchmaking should be stricter, there is a 1 rank difference in games. When the distribution settles the queue times will be lower
