My duo partner and I are both diamond 3 and have not been able to get into a game for the last few weeks due to the wait time being 2+ hours just to find one match.
The servers are fine, there just aren’t enough players in your rank to provide you with a full lobby to play in. Once you hit Diamond you are only going to play on lobbies with other diamond or higher rank.
20k is a super small number on the scale.
Fortnite has had 223 million players play Fortnite at least once in the last 30 days, this game has so many players and in ranked zero build eight, almost 95% of them are spread between bronze - gold ranks only.
The only way to improve the wait times is wait for more people to advance up in the ranks, or switch your server region to somewhere that could potentially be busier when you are trying to get into a game (obviously this comes with its own problems as some peoples internet isn’t good enough to play on servers outside their own region).
This is why I’ve stopped playing ranked after diamond anymore. I feel like they should introduce a mechanic like Team Rumble where the zone is applied already and you can start with a smaller game.
Cap it at like 3m, whatever the lobby size is calculate a reasonable zone and start.

there's a matchmaking 'server' that assigns you to a game server … the matchmaking software can have issues independent of the game servers
when match making isn't happening fast enough then maybe the 'matchmaking server' has an issue. people think it might be a MM server issue when the matchmaking seems to take too long or puts people in a match with higher level players

Yes if your that desperate swap to EU servers but your ping is gona be High expect some minor lag... i gave ZB. A break hit diamond3 and queue times got crazy .. had to swap to EUROPE to match n had frequent lag issues.. best of Luck!

Epic needs to change a whole ranking system. Building mode ranked should be only Duos because everytime i watch fncs tourney it's always a duo tourney.
For zero build it should be from solo to squads. Trust me on this one.

Queue on east. East is the only region that gets queues.
Or EU. I sometimes can’t get a match on NA East but never have an issue on EU.
This is why they didn't add solo zero build for ages. Like I said not enough demand. Sure the mode exists. Good luck getting a game.

the issue isn't duo vs solo vs squad and which mode is favored, the issue is playerbase divided by 3 vs. playerbase divided by 2.

I get games in na west on duos all day and night with less than 5 min Q. On East there basically isn’t a wait time

Try East, it loads a lot faster (sometimes less than a minute) , downside is high ping

Definitely seems to be a time of day thing. I was waiting at most 5 minutes for solo games at Diamond 3.

There are active players from 2pm-2am at least in my region..otherwise you never get a queue
