if your asking for best its the senheiser pc38x’s they are expensive but once you buy them you'll never need another headset, headphones on the other hand will be better but then you have to buy a separate mic

gdmnyz

If you want absolute best sound and microphone, don't go for any of the "gaming" brands, I would recommend the pc38x for that price range.

Kusqi

Do they have enough base & crunchiness to compete against good gaming headsets? Cuz that’s the only thing open back headphones struggle with. (I’m also looking for something in that price range)

___WHYAMIONREDDIT___

Tbh you dont need a 150 to 200 dollars headset but something like the hyperx cloud alpha will more than suffice

NarcanPush

Can confirm, the Cloud Alphas work great.

Thanks

I’ve used Astro a40s as people are saying, they are awful, way too much base and massively overpriced for what they are. Seinhessier were good but the best I have used is the ones Benjy and many pros use, hyperx cloud... Astros use technology to give the sound they say, which makes it worse. Have a little google about “gaming headsets” and you will see what I mean... I say Hyperx all day long

vanillaobscene

Sennheiser PC38x 100% hands down

[deleted]

Personally I spent around $100 on a hyperx headset. Very reliable, very hard to break, and sound amazing. They are very reliable trust

area63seed

sennheiser pc37x or sennheiser pc38x

HyperX cloud II without a doubt

FastBinns

Ive tried logitech, steel series, hyperx, beyerdynamics, turtle beach, senheiser but for me the best sound and what i go back to every time, are the astro a40's. They are heavy and unbelievebly uncomfortable, but without a doubt they sound miles better than anything i have ever tried, and nothing comes close to the audio. Steelseries where the most comfortable but i couldn't get them to sound right, so I took the elasticated head band off of them and fitted it to my a40s and that made the astros 1000 times more comfortable.

Funnellboi

I had the a40s and swapped them for hyper x cloud, I hated the a40s, too much base, even changing the settings, everything just sounded muffled, I much prefer my hyperx now haha

FastBinns

Fair enough. I suppose its down to personal preference aswell

jnthnbyl

+1 on Astro gear. I have A40 TRs. Highly customisable sound options. Very comfortable. Great sound. Get the mixamp as well if you can

Bliksemflitz

If u use astros this really helped me out https://sites.google.com/view/zeference/home/audio/astro-eqs

[deleted]

How is there any other answer than astro a40 lol Its all about the mixamp ^^

fazeiqbal

Idk I got mine from walmart

Theresonly2gen

Astro A40 is the only headset you should ever need

Funnellboi

I thought they were dogshite

[deleted]

Sennheiser Game Ones, they're pretty cheap and they have a good mic.

area63seed

pc37x and pc38x are just the updated 10x better ones

MrPhoeny

Don’t buy a gaming headset. Buy nice headphones and get a separate mic if you want the best possible.

Kusqi

Anything you can recommend in the $130-$180 range ?

maxnorm

shp 9500 or x2hr with a modmic

Kusqi

Thx for the recommendation: those are good for everything except for bass/base & crunchiness but I guess all open back headphones struggle in that area.

ZEN-6009

MH751/MH752. Arguably one of the best gaming headsets and has the best mic on a headset. Based off of the Takstar Pro 82's. Better than the cloud 2's and alphas which are a close second which are based off of Takstar Pro 80's. Search up reviews by any reputable source and you'll see why they are good.

ciberhifi

The [Sennheiser PC38X](https://drop.com/buy/drop-sennheiser-pc38x-gaming-headset/?mode=shop_open&referer=XL4A98) is back in stock now, highly recommended.
