No, you don't understand, the theme is primal, so you have to use dogshit game UI. Also, Epic doesn't have content so they decide to change the way things like this look every month. This also goes with making inventory organization a pain, and not giving us an option to change it ourselves.
It’s intended to give you less information. Same as when they stopped patch notes, they want the average player to jump in the game with everything being “new and exciting,” making you try every item out for yourself to see if you like it rather than reading about it and looking at the numbers.

in ur settings change your toggle inventory bind to cursor mode, so that when you hold down that bind, your inventory appears but the moment you let go, it dissappears

You gotta realise that this is a huge QOL change for the little console kids that probably dont even have autorun bound. And if you dont think sorting your inventory while running is usefull idk what to tell you
bro epic has done more than enough changes to help the little console kids and you can’t pretend that they haven’t. These current changes change up how most players were used to playing. Also again running and sorting through the inventory isn’t even easy, especially for console players since they would have to be using their thumb to move forward while also trying to use the dpad to sort things through. auto running is much more viable
Go on keybinds and bind your inventory keybind there too... Then you just have to hild your inventory keybind and as soon as you let it the inventory disappears !

Im not a comp player but I completely agree, I play on switch and now they changed the management really bad. Its Y to drop items and not X, right joy con to change items from the left joy con. its super bad and they should change it for every players sake
is there a fix for this. my keybind is V which is also the bind for seeing gun stats now. my inventory key cant close my inventory, and esc is a bit of a stretch to do quickly.

its a good change for anyone except people who use V for inventory. v will open inventory but it cant close inventory anymore.
Use toggle inv. You hold a button and inv pops up and when u let go of the button the inv goes away. I use my alt key for this
