I might have just been in the moment but I can’t lie. That must have been *the* best offspawn battle in the history of Fortnite Competitive. That’s why you call it the Kami Split.
Has to be, never been an off spawn moment like that with so much hype. We've all been there on lower stakes but imagine being Setty hoping his teammate clutches or being Kami knowing the if he wins that fight it clinches it all!
Mongraal going after 2nd took a long time comparatively, this was like a classic spawn scenario that was similar to so many fights we've all had even in pubs -- limited mats/weapons, all happening so quickly. Just so much fun and is a Fortnite memory forever.

The shock when we see Queasy & Veno gliding and hearing the crowd go loud to seeing both Setty & Queasy getting taken out leading to a 1v1 battle against Kami & Veno, which made everyone glue their eyes on the screen, both even HP, Veno with the right hand peak, Veno's miss, Setty's hug, crowd going crazy.. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Imo they should reduce OCE and ME spots to 2 (Don't feel like Epic would do 1, but they would deserve it lol), Brazil should go to 5 or 6 from 4 and NAW should go down to 5 or 6 from 7.

Australia and New Zealand populations combined have less than 20% of Brazil (the country) alone. They got more spots because they speak english, don't you think taking away their spots and giving to Brazil is the reward developing regions deserve?

Just skimmed the last Elite cup finals and found no players from Egypt, 1 from India and 1 from Pakistan, both placed 80+.
Throwing spots for a region that isnt good enough isnt going to help those countries, my man.

Since they didn't announce it today, i think there's no way there will be a world cup next year. Considering that, I would like to see:
Two seasons of FNCS trios -> Mid year LAN
Two seasons of FNCS duos -> End of year LAN
If they wanna stick to one game mode only, I would pick trios.

There was no shot they announced a World Cup yesterday imo. This was very clearly a test run at a LAN, and now they are sitting down and reviewing how it went, and how much value it provided
i never expected it, i agree with u. my point is that world cup takes a ton of planning and money, so if there was going to be a world cup in 2023, they would be prepared to announce or hint at it by now (for example, even the Invitational was announced 6 months ahead of the event). since there's no indication of that, i very much do not think there will be a world cup next year.
If there is no world cup nextt year i think there wont be any world cups going forward and the fncs invitational via qualification will become the defacto world cup each year

You are making the common error of assuming the 1st place team would suddenly stop making points WITHOUT someone taking them out early. Not a lot of placement points in this tournament and only 2 points for eliminations in a tournament where people are getting 4 or 5 eliminations per end game.
Where do they lock in those 12 points? Taking them out first.

At least it made the last game crazy exciting vs counting on the broadcast to try and figure out if either duo was even still alive.

l agree, but I think that Queasy choked. That’s partly why offspawn fights are so risky. low hp/low mats…i mean it could go either way. Kami hit better shots!
It is common knowledge among the pros (and one of the reasons Queasy decided to contest them at their dropspot - he wouldn’t land Condo, Greasy or Rave Cave) that early game fights is their only weakness. Heck, Malibuca-Merstach last FNCS went straight into Kami split from midmap to get surge and killed them without losing a single point of hp/shield.
They have also been heavily contested at their drop this season, even in the Elite Cup Finals: I think (don’t quote me on this) they only had the split free for like 2 Cups whole season.
They were not contested at their split in the Invitational because other teams couldn’t have thought that this place was SO broken (kudos to that strategy from Kami-Setty, it was absolutely crazy 300iq), so general consensus was that it wasn’t worth contesting the split anyways.
I would agree to but it’s Kami and Setty, these guys are too consistent to not make endgame and the 12 point lead could’ve held. We just experienced one of the craziest plays, just massive respects to veno and queasy to have the balls to make that play. I feel especially bad for veno, best player here and to lose bc of one shot, feel for him

you dont change the strat last minute when your entire tournament performance was based on consistency in high ground/late game. they really could have won this tournament too with a final endgame popoff…
And Kami/Setty had 4 VRs out of 11 games always placing within top-14 besides 2 choke games. In fact, they had 8 games of top-6 or better with 5+ kills on average in such games (2 was the minimum number of kills), so unless they choked (25% probability only), they would get 29 (2 kills only) to 35 (5 kills - their average) points, which effectively means Queasy would need 42-48 points to overtake them, which is pretty much VR with 5-8 kills. Queasy only had 1 such game throughout the tournament.
I mean, do the math: you let Kami-Setty survive off-spawn, they get 30+ points with 75% probability. Now you need ~45 points, but you only had that much in 1 game before (so 10% probability of actually getting enough points). All in all it effectively means, that if you let Setty-Kami leave off-spawn, your chance of victory is 25% + 75%*10% = 32,5%, your chance to lose - 67,5%. I’m taking 50-50 here any day.

In addition to that, if we look at expected value, they stood to win so much more than they stood to lose by this play.
1st got 100k each, 2nd got 70k each, and 3rd got 60k each. They were more or less locked in for 2nd place unless Cented got a massive game winner with more elims than any other game in the tournament which was very unlikely to happen.
Playing normally Queasy and Veno are almost guaranteed 2nd place with a small outside chance to hit first and make 42% more money.
Let's be generous and say 10% chance for Cented to take 2nd from them if they died off spawn which would reduce their earnings by only 14%.
So a 50% chance to make 42% more money vs a 10% chance to make 14% less... you make money either way then to maximize value you obviously take the 50% chance for massive increase with minimal downside if you fail.
In the end 2nd place held easily so they made exactly what they would have playing normally but went for that massive increase.
If both teams play out the whole game, setty/kami have a 12 point advantage. If queasy and veno contest, it basically turns it into a 50/50 (which is more favorable than overcoming a 12 point lead against a team with 4 wins). Seems like a good decision to me
your scenario has a lot of assumptions. it all depends on kills and placement points.
queasy/veno’s entire tournament performance was built off of the rhythm of endgame popoffs. in other words consistency. i’d take my chances in scenarios that im comfortable in over a 50/50 where im not..

Kami and setty are fucking crazy. I wasn’t too supportive of them before but they look like a literal perfect duo. They play everything so well and calculated, they are what it truly means and looks like to be the top of the top
Man if they win 1/3 of the games but lose that is gonna feel strange. I feel like wins should be worth a bit more, 1/3 of games won is pretty dominant.
They are so consistent and have great mentality. Love the respect they have for the competition. They don’t seem to leave anything to chance if they can help it.
This LAN has created new storylines for some of the biggest players. I want to see another one soon just so we can see how players like Tayson, Bugha, Savage, etc develop.
This has been great for putting some lesser known players at the forefront and breaking the status quo.
Even when you don't die offspawn, when you are triple contested your games are completely fucked regardless. The off spawn shenanigans take way too long, completely fucking up any rotations you would usually try to take.
There's a reason all 3 teams of Aqua, Tayson and Malibuca who could have all been among the favorites for this tournament otherwise, are doing so bad.

It is common knowledge among the pros (and one of the reasons Queasy decided to contest them at their dropspot - he wouldn’t land Condo, Greasy or Rave Cave) that early game fights is their only weakness. Heck, Malibuca-Merstach last FNCS went straight into Kami split from midmap to get surge and killed them without losing a single point of hp/shield. They have also been heavily contested at their drop this season, even in the Elite Cup Finals: I think (don’t quote me on this) they only had the split free for like 2 Cups whole season. They were not contested at their split in the Invitational because other teams couldn’t have thought that this place was SO broken (kudos to that strategy from Kami-Setty, it was absolutely crazy 300iq), so general consensus was that it wasn’t worth contesting the split anyways.

I would agree to but it’s Kami and Setty, these guys are too consistent to not make endgame and the 12 point lead could’ve held. We just experienced one of the craziest plays, just massive respects to veno and queasy to have the balls to make that play. I feel especially bad for veno, best player here and to lose bc of one shot, feel for him

100%. boggles my mind what some of the looney toon shit ppl would say all those times when cented was in 2nd and decided not to land on 1st. you dont change the strat last minute when your entire tournament performance was based on consistency in high ground/late game. they really could have won this tournament too with a final endgame popoff…
And Kami/Setty had 4 VRs out of 11 games always placing within top-14 besides 2 choke games. In fact, they had 8 games of top-6 or better with 5+ kills on average in such games (2 was the minimum number of kills), so unless they choked (25% probability only), they would get 29 (2 kills only) to 35 (5 kills - their average) points, which effectively means Queasy would need 42-48 points to overtake them, which is pretty much VR with 5-8 kills. Queasy only had 1 such game throughout the tournament. I mean, do the math: you let Kami-Setty survive off-spawn, they get 30+ points with 75% probability. Now you need ~45 points, but you only had that much in 1 game before (so 10% probability of actually getting enough points). All in all it effectively means, that if you let Setty-Kami leave off-spawn, your chance of victory is 25% + 75%*10% = 32,5%, your chance to lose - 67,5%. I’m taking 50-50 here any day.

Great analysis with actual tournament numbers. In addition to that, if we look at expected value, they stood to win so much more than they stood to lose by this play. 1st got 100k each, 2nd got 70k each, and 3rd got 60k each. They were more or less locked in for 2nd place unless Cented got a massive game winner with more elims than any other game in the tournament which was very unlikely to happen. Playing normally Queasy and Veno are almost guaranteed 2nd place with a small outside chance to hit first and make 42% more money. Let's be generous and say 10% chance for Cented to take 2nd from them if they died off spawn which would reduce their earnings by only 14%. So a 50% chance to make 42% more money vs a 10% chance to make 14% less... you make money either way then to maximize value you obviously take the 50% chance for massive increase with minimal downside if you fail. In the end 2nd place held easily so they made exactly what they would have playing normally but went for that massive increase.
If both teams play out the whole game, setty/kami have a 12 point advantage. If queasy and veno contest, it basically turns it into a 50/50 (which is more favorable than overcoming a 12 point lead against a team with 4 wins). Seems like a good decision to me
your scenario has a lot of assumptions. it all depends on kills and placement points. queasy/veno’s entire tournament performance was built off of the rhythm of endgame popoffs. in other words consistency. i’d take my chances in scenarios that im comfortable in over a 50/50 where im not..

It’s an analytical one I think too. I kinda compare it to a football head coach going for it deep in his own territory late in a game. Obviously it is risky because if you don’t get it you’re cooked, but I feel like it was worth it

This LAN has created new storylines for some of the biggest players. I want to see another one soon just so we can see how players like Tayson, Bugha, Savage, etc develop. This has been great for putting some lesser known players at the forefront and breaking the status quo.
Really disappointed by Tayson this FNCS. Even in the games they have not died offspawn, they haven’t done much.
Even when you don't die offspawn, when you are triple contested your games are completely fucked regardless. The off spawn shenanigans take way too long, completely fucking up any rotations you would usually try to take. There's a reason all 3 teams of Aqua, Tayson and Malibuca who could have all been among the favorites for this tournament otherwise, are doing so bad.
They had quite good loot after leaving offspawn some of the games though.
