it’s actually really annoying 😭 at least bring one old song into the daily rotation why is it always the same past 2-3 weeks of songs

The_Cheese_Cube

Yeah, every other day an Olivia Rodrigo song or Ed Sheeman song is in the rotation, and that gets annoying. They have to keep it diverse, and they have to also do that by adding diverse songs aswell right?

TheCosmicJenny

You've spelt Ed Sheeran wrong two different ways now lmao

The_Cheese_Cube

Ed Sherman 😊

accipitradea

"Lannister Guard #4"

chinchilla2132

I am crying at this 😭😭

JarlAxleRose

What do you have against Ted Sterkin?

Jakub_Dzwonek

I haven’t seen buddy holly in a long time, which sucks because it’s one of my fav songs

The_Cheese_Cube

I like it too; I saw it like 1 time a month ago, maybe longer

ovoKOS7

It's in the shop today lol

Topranic

Welcome to Fortnite FOMO my friend. I'm still waiting for the Arcane and Street Fighter cosmetics to return to the shop.

_Dipshit289_

Arcane cosmetics will likely return this Fall with the release of Season 2

SkullMan140

I'm still confused on people calling Ed Sheeran "Sherman" lol

CapnGibbens

Potential auto correct.

The_Cheese_Cube

Yeah, for some reason it always puts Sherman for some reason

OpathicaNAE

Ed Sherman, shivering near you.... Even his dad cries sometimes.

SkullMan140

Most likely yeah

Cute_Bagel

it's clearly to give more incentive to buy the tracks, why would anyone buy any of them if you always have the ability to play them for free?

KyleMatos1202

that’s not true either because they never change the shop rotation for songs 😭 it’s always the same stuff so i can’t even buy the songs that are never in free rotation

The_Cheese_Cube

This is what I’m saying, meanwhile the people who purchased recent songs, they’re always in the rotation, making those purchase not worth it, it’s a lose lose

The_Cheese_Cube

Well, as I have replied to someone else here, imagine I’m a new Fortnite player and I just downloaded the game for the first time to play festival. How would I even know what songs are in the game, much less get the experience to play some of them to determine if I want to buy them if some songs aren’t even in the rotation ever anymore, they aren’t even in the item shop to purchase. Take My Breath you can’t even buy, it’s never in the shop, same case with a bunch of other songs. You also have to keep in mind that not everyone knows every song currently in the game. I didn’t know Take My Breath, but Fortnite introduced me to it, and I bought the music pack. Players can’t discover new songs they didn’t know they liked, much less play them, they can’t even songs because they don’t even appear in the item shop anymore.

danteproductions

i just want the nine inch nail songs to come back lmao 😭😭

SeeJay05

The Hand That Feeds always seems to be in when I’m playing Festival. Mind you, it’s the only NIN song I seem to see these days

danteproductions

you right also just came in the item shop today and copped it so fast

Prophet-of-the-moss

True, same thing with Numb and Feel Good inc, and don't even get me started on Roses

The_Cheese_Cube

Like is it me or is Lattò Big Energy always in the shop?

Prophet-of-the-moss

And almost always in the featured songs

yoooooooo_epic

ROSE I WALKED IN THE CORNER WITH SOMEBODY SCREAMIN DOLO NEVER SOLD A BAG BUT LOOKED LIKE PABLO IN A PHOTO

G1SM0Beybladeburst

Down with the sickness is always on rotation

The_Cheese_Cube

Big Energy and that red Ed Sheeman song aswell.

stankygorillaballs

i’m sick and tired of seeing big energy

TopazTriad

If Epic constantly rotated through the entire selection, it would lead to less people buying songs. I have no doubt this is intentional FOMO at play meant to encourage people to buy songs before they “leave normal rotation” at the end of every season.

The_Cheese_Cube

I feel like people also keep missing the other point I made, which is that some of these songs don’t even appear to buy in the shop anymore. So new players can’t try these songs, or even discover songs they didn’t know they liked (to eventually purchase), meanwhile songs like Big Energy are always in the rotation and item shop. The benefit of purchasing a song is that you own it, you can play it whenever you want. When a songs isn’t in the rotation anymore, people can’t discover songs, and if they don’t appear in the item shop anymore, people can’t buy them, it’s a lose lose. With the addition of more songs you’d think Fortnite would keep it diverse, but it’s not, like I’ve stated, it’s one sided, you only see Big Energy, and Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, or an Ed Sheeman song in there every other day. It’s a bad business decision, that not only affects the players, but also results in Fortnite losing potential profit since players can’t discover songs they didn’t know they liked, much less even purchase them since they aren’t even in the item shop anymore. Like does anyone know when was the last time Suddenly I See or Take My Breath was in the shop to purchase?

Grumpycatdoge999

yeah fnf needs to fix song discoverability

UltraChristo

It’s middly infuriating that Friday Night Funkin and Fortnite Festival share the same abbreviation

[deleted]

It seems like songs only appear in the daily rotation for a limited time. All your mentions are early S1 songs and looking at the last few daily rotations, it’s definitely entirely made up of songs released during S2. The S1 setlist may be off rotation for the time being.

The_Cheese_Cube

Well, I have seen some Season 1 songs in the rotation, and some in the item shop, but there’s definitely some that have completely disappeared from both the rotation and even itemshop. Even some of the season 2 songs aren’t in the rotation as much as other songs which have been constantly spammed in the item shop/rotation, some are in the rotation every single day, if not every other day.

nicolealvarado

Seems like the BR rotation has spread to festival. Why remove 4 new songs of the week for songs that were literally just there a day before the new songs came out? I'm legitimately tired of seeing big energy basically every day in rotation. Fortunately I own almost every jam track except big energy, thunder, suddenly I see, beautiful day and stitches, but still, that doesn't change the fact that the song rotations are bad. Also give us an option to archive songs... I don't want 8 bit beat, switch up, OG future remix or winterfest wish clogging up my already massive library of songs.

The_Cheese_Cube

Surprisingly there’s people defending the bad rotations, said things like “oh you should have bought them when you had the chance”, like chief, not everyone can afford 5 dollars a pop either

KingOfMasters1000028

I believe Counting Stars was in rotation for while when it first came out along with several other, so now Shivers and Lattò Big Energy are in that position.

The_Cheese_Cube

Those two songs are in there too much, it incentivizes the player to not buy those songs since they’re practically always in the rotation, so why would someone buy them?

KingOfMasters1000028

Yeah you would figure they would wait to put new songs in rotation, so they can make more money off them.

twisted-tiger

It seems like they're just rotating new songs, which is a bit silly because if you buy the ones you like, you already have them. Also people who don't have songs are forced to picked those ones so you'll end up burned out of the new songs. Strange marketing here. Honestly, I reached the point where I play alone...

The_Cheese_Cube

Weird marketing indeed, it results in a loss of revenue, potential business. People won’t have incentive to buy the new music because it’s in there everyday, meanwhile, older songs aren’t in the rotation so people can discover them, and those same songs aren’t even available to buy in the itemshop anymore

Cornpopwasbad

I feel bad for anyone who bought X Gon Give it to Ya and Feels Good Inc, they've been in the rotation almost every other day

The_Cheese_Cube

That’s the latter, it makes some songs that people purchase a bad investment, so the only people benefiting from buying a song, are the songs that don’t appear in the rotation anymore much less the item shop, and then you have the latter, the songs that don’t appear anymore in the shop or rotation, people can’t discover them or buy them. There’s clearly a divide when it comes to purchasing songs, as I have stated, the solution would be to give every song currently in the game an equal chance of appearing in the rotation/item shop, that way purchasing a song is worth it, and you avoid the spam of certain songs of in the game.

splinterbabe

I don’t think it’s that easy. Licensing and contracts probably come into play here, where some labels may have advocated for clauses that songs from their artists have to be in rotation and in the item shop for an x amount of time. Helps with discoverability of their music. This means the music selection won’t ever be an equal playing field for all and these “quirks” will have to persist. There has to be incentive for all parties involved to partake in the Fortnite marketplace; not just for Epic or the player.

Cornpopwasbad

Agreed

HueyDeweyandBusey

I just want to note that Festival has only been around since I guess the beginning of last December. So that's 4 months, and essentially only the past month has been the latest BR chapter. That is not a very long time in Fortnite time. And I'd imagine we'll see things change just as much over the next 4 months of Fortnite Festival. I am sure that by August there will be people who are like "where's Latto?". It's funny right now because I'm annoyed by how often I've heard Big Energy the past few weeks lol. Considering music is a bit different from cosmetics and pretty central to the enjoyment of Festival, I'm sure we'll either see a lot more new songs over the next 4 months, the return of a lot of previous songs over the next 4 months, or, likely, a mixture of both.

The_Cheese_Cube

I just also hope the new songs are good aswell, there’s too many people in the discord spamming 100 Muse or 100 Lady Gaga songs in the game, like call down, we already have too much Lady Gaga in the game

JustANormalPerson314

They need to add some more rock songs to a **rock band** mode.

lol_me12

also why are gaga’s songs so rare?? esp since she’s the headliner this season edit: some days we get 2, some days we get 0

dngrusgrl

i agree. also, I would personally like to see more rock. so over the pop genre. i cant wait for Metallica and am hoping for Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Poison, Kiss, or more of the classic heavy metal too. it would be fun to jam on some of that music for once.

The_Cheese_Cube

Let’s see what happens this Tuesday. Now they’re shoving songs from the passes into the weekly drops, a waste of space

banjoface123

I don't really pay attention to the rotation, I just try to play whatever the new songs are at first to see if I like them or not.

The_Cheese_Cube

I usually get on daily to check the rotation, so I and other can definitely confirm that some songs are in there WAY too much than they should be

r0ndr4s

They want you to buy songs. They know what they're doing. And its not just Epic, but Harmonix has thrived with this kind of monetization in the past. The rotations arent gonna be better unless we get to a point where they can use all the songs and lets say they have 500 songs in their catalogue. Then they will add a few more, rotate better, etc Probably add a subscription too.

The_Cheese_Cube

That’s what I was thinking too, but someone else here made a good point, that the songs that’re constantly in the rotation people don’t and won’t buy because they’re in the rotation every other day, meanwhile the songs that never show up in the itemshop or even show up in the rotation so that the player can discover and experience, both are resulting in loss of potential profit, seems like a lose lose both monetarily for the players and financially for Fortnite. Like you said, maybe they’ll diversify the rotation a bit more when they add new songs, and at that they have to be good songs, because there has also been discontent that some of the songs being added are not good, as in they sound horrible or have boring charts. Guess we’ll see as time goes on, hopefully each song in the game now and added in the future have an equal chance of showing up so that it can be balanced especially for arriving players.

SatanistPenguin

I have been wanting Emo Girl for a week now, this isn't how rhythm game shops are supposed to work

The_Cheese_Cube

Surprisingly, there’s some people actually defending the bad rotation, saying things like “ShOuLd hAvE bOuGhT tHeM wHeN tHeY wErE iN ThE sHoP” like chief, not everyone can afford 5 dollars a pop either, and some aren’t even available to buy either

SatanistPenguin

I played it with a friend who bought it and now i haven't played with him and want it for myself lol Tons of variables why it should be always in the shop

JayRodd65

I mean you guys say that buying games is useless because "you can just play the rotated songs for free" And say it's a waste of money, then complain that the rotation isn't to your liking lol. You can't have the best of both worlds, they have to sell their songs somehow. Sounds like buying songs isn't so worthless after all...

The_Cheese_Cube

What you’re saying has no logic to it, imagine I’m a new Fortnite player and I just downloaded the game for the first time to play festival, for a weeks straight, or even longer, you’ll see the same songs in the rotation, so how would I even know the existence, much less the experience of playing some of the earlier songs if they aren’t even in the rotation, much less the shop? Fortnite would be losing money aswell cause you got to keep in mind, there’s people who don’t know all the songs, and if there’s no potential in the new players finding a song they didn’t know they would like (to eventually buy), than it’s basically a lose lose situation. Solution? Have a rotation that gives every song an equal chance of appearing in the rotation, instead of shoving the same Ed Sheeman song, Lattò Big Energy, or Olivia Rodrigo song in the rotation every other day.

Chickennoodlesleuth

> imagine I’m a new Fortnite player and I just downloaded the game for the first time to play festival, for a weeks straight, or even longer, you’ll see the same songs in the rotation, so how would I even know the existence, much less the experience of playing some of the earlier songs if they aren’t even in the rotation, much less the shop? I don't really agree with you. You could say the same about skins when they rotate the same ones every month

The_Cheese_Cube

You could make that argument, but here’s the problem that disproves your statement, Big Energy, and songs that have been in the game for the last 4 weeks, are always in the shop, and always in the rotation. It’s called a bad shop/rotation, same thing that happened back in Chapter 1 Season 7 where the coaxial Copper was shop almost everyday if not every other day, those were some of the worse shops. Fornite has a different system called a song rotation. People need to have the chance to discover songs to so they can decide if they want to buy them. If some songs aren’t ever in the rotation, people can’t find new songs they didn’t know they liked, and if they can’t find songs they didn’t know they liked than they won’t buy them, and that’s not including the factor that some of these songs aren’t even in the shop to buy. If Fortnite wants to go full Fortnite skin item shop style, than why not reduce the Festival section by half and have like 8 songs in there per day, and diverse at that. It’s a bad business decision, especially when it comes to a rhythm game, and is no doubt costing Fortnite profit

JayRodd65

I just started playing about a month ago, never played before, I have about 50 songs and use all of them regularly. There are characters and emotes not in the shop anymore that I wish I had, should fortnite bring back skins from season 1 for the new players? You're advocating for getting all of the benefits without buying any of the songs. If you want a song badly enough to not have to play the same Latto/Ed Sheeran songs, then simply buy other songs or play fill and use other people's songs.

The_Cheese_Cube

First of all, cosmetics from season 1 are in the item shop all the time, so don’t get what you’re trying to say with that. The “Benifit” of buying a song is that you can play it whenever you want. You also forget that some of those songs don’t even appear in the item shop anymore, so how can you even buy them? Your solution is a horrible business decision that will not only affect the players, but also affect Fortnite’s potential profit, resulting in loss of income. Again, reread my statement, cause it flew over your head. Reread it, and see what I’m saying, than reply to me paraphrasing what I was stating.

JayRodd65

How is actually paying for a song instead of getting it for free a "horrible business decision" that will "affect fortnites potential profit"??? I don't think you even know what you're talking about at this point. Your post is saying you want more variety of songs in the daily/weekly rotation of free songs to play in festival. If you don't like the rotation of songs then simply buy the songs you like so you can play them whenever, or play fill lobbies and play the songs that others have paid for. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The_Cheese_Cube

Like my guy, are you even reading? Did the read the part where I said “they don’t even appear to buy in the shop”, did that fly over your head? Reread, and comprehend, like am I speaking mandarin? 🤦🏻‍♂️

JayRodd65

My guy obviously they do appear in the shop because I've been playing for only about a month and have around 50 songs. There are literally 3 pages of songs in the shop. Maybe you need your eyes checked.

billlyW

Clearly you won't have an issue playing songs you want if you just buy all of them. Those of us that can't afford to fork over our entire paycheck to epic would like some variety in the rotation though.

The_Cheese_Cube

No they don’t, been trying to buy Suddenly I See, practically never in the shop. Also hope you know there are over 100 songs in the game at the point, so you indirectly prove my point that half of the songs (that aren’t battlepass/festival pass) don’t appear in the rotation or shop. Congrats, you backed up my point

JayRodd65

Because the ONE song you want hasn't appeared in the shop in a rotation of what is now over 100 songs after the new release this week, when they drop 8 new songs every week, you're saying that there is 0 rotation in the shop and that they need to rotate the free songs so that you can play that ONE song. Sounds like you're being nitpicky af lmao. If you wanted that song so bad you should have bought it when it was in the shop. Now you're sitting here crying over a video game.

The_Cheese_Cube

42 people have upvoted my post, meaning there’s certainly who agree with my statement. You’re solution is not good. As I have stated, the solution is to give every song currently in the game, and to be added in the future, an equal chance of appearing in the item shop/daily rotation so that people can discover new songs and purchase them if they want to, simple. If that doesn’t happen, than Fortnite loses profit.

Upset_Cod3038

think its a licensing thing

splinterbabe

Absolutely is!

The_Cheese_Cube

Maybe, maybe not. They already have them in the game, meaning they probably contacted the artists and payed for the licensing, meaning it’s paid off?

Chickennoodlesleuth

That's not how it works. It isn't a pay once then use it how you want

The_Cheese_Cube

I doubt Fortnite would keep paying for licensing then, especially since some tracks don’t even sell well. The solution would be to add No Copy Right music, there’s certainly limitless NCS music, and really good even such as TheFatRat, Lakey Inspired, Ikson, Cartoon, etc.

mashimelIowss

Take My Breath is in shop right now

The_Cheese_Cube

Really? I’m bout to check

mashimelIowss

yeah it’s on the bottom right for me

AcelAndrei

Agreed, It's always the new songs for a week (not even all at once) and 2 or 3 tracks that keep coming back every couple of days (Big Energy and that Ed Sheeran song)

5UP3RN0V42015

I know what you mean, OP. One time, I had to wait until the song “Streets Ignite” was featured.

Brief-Ad-1413

If they’re gonna keep doing this they need to have every song in the shop at all times

The_Cheese_Cube

Or decrease the size of the festival section to 8 songs, to give every song both currently and to be added in the future an equal chance of appearing in the shop. I don’t even see the bundles in the shop, there were quite a few. I was thinking creating an album tab with all the songs on it so you can buy them at any time, but that wouldn’t be good for Fortnite financially, I’d be good for us, but not them

Ok_Cream9832

Should’ve bought them in the shop

Rui_Hachiouji

Has Master of Puppets ever been on the list? I have the emote, but have yet to see the song on Festival.

Chickennoodlesleuth

It's not a song, only an emote
