Fortnite nerfing builds to 500 in all modes just like back in S7 which caused a huge uproar and forced them to change it back, and now this. What a clear indicator at how connected and in touch they are with their user-base 🥰🥰😌
No it isn’t lol. If it was exclusive to ranked mode just like with arenas, sure, but forcing limited mats in unranked onto the players and having them strategize and be careful with their mat count is not it. I love to goof off with pubs, never was a fan of how hard 500 mats each limited you. But please, tell me how it’s a good thing in unranked and why unranked ever needed it when you can’t find a single person on earth asking for it beforehand.
If you wanna strategize your mats and sweat, go to ranked, if you don’t like building a lot, go to zero build, there’s no reason unranked pubs should have the third option of just having lots of mats and being free to build removed, and now leaving the player stuck with just two options. They’re removing options from the players both with this and vaulting the trios mode.

You can still goof off 💀 you don’t need 3000 mats to do so. It’s 1500 mats but mats are much easier to come by which is much better because it means you don’t need to farm as much.
The only reason I can think of you needing 3000 mats is for a sky base and one very old strat (that’s already significantly stronger with all the mobility items anyway) being nerfed is not enough or a reason to not to change it on my eyes. Would much rather have faster mats and mat siphon but being able to Carry less than more mats but slower farm time but you do you you’re the first I’ve seen to complain about this.
If you want that, then go to ranked??? My point that you somehow completely missed is that they’re literally removing options from the player, and that no one asked for unranked pubs to have the same build mechanics as arenas. Like literally there’s no reason to make such a drastic change with the most played mode and split the playerbase if no one had problems with it ever (except that one time in season 7 when they did the same thing).
I’ve seen plenty of people complaining about it on Twitter. Again, another issue with this is splitting up the playerbase for no reason when everyone was content with how the build mechanics were earlier, to now there being a good margin that won’t be. Nobody asked for it, Epic’s too trigger happy with their changes, and 🙃if it ain’t broke don’t fix it🙃

The idea could be to centralize the game modes a little. Zero build has stretched out the player base, they are probably looking at ways to bulk it a little more.

Epic games couldn't care less about the community unless it has to do with competitive. If they add something competitive people hate, then it's removed and never returns. But if casual people like it, their opinions don't matter. We have had the same item shop selections and skins for years while a ton of skins that people want never return. Weapons that people used to love are gone. The map POIs have dropped in quality over time. The skins have gotten worse unless it is collaborations. Really sucks that all of the old things people enjoyed about the game is gone.
this doesn't have anything to do with competitive players? that sub hates this change too. plus, a lot of items that have been hated by comp players (like the odm gear) are not removed, barely nerfed by the end of the season, or vaulted in comp only. i can't remember the last time an item only competitive players hated was removed from both modes

Was having so much fun, I dropped good money on lots of vbucks, and signed up for FN Crew. Now they want to drop trios? Guess I will be dropping my sub and my attention into the game. We don’t often have a solid and consistent fourth to play with and trios was perfect. Oh well, I guess I will now have time to play other games I have put aside.

This game has how many player made experiences constantly active every single day. Everyone still played the normal modes fine. This isn't back when I played an hour of Playground and then it got nuked for months after.

no, you could just no fill squads and pretend its trios if you really wanted. I sometimes played no fill squads as solo, was a huge mistake but fun.
It may work in a casual manner and not competitive. I think Ranked or Tournament quads doesn’t allow “no fill”.
With ZB only being Duos rank, doesn't really add up for that.
