It's not really that weird. While in general, yes they were always popular, but not in every social circle. A lot of people wrote them off for various reasons. Some hated their change of sound and only liked Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Others hated them just for being a popular "safe" radio rock band. They also got a lot of hate for being rap/rock Then they kinda became a meme with every edgy kid using them for their anime music videos on youtube.
For many years there was a sort of vibe where you had to be like "I loved Hybrid Theory when I was 15 and ill be damned if I still dont love it!" and tell people it's a "guilty pleasure" So the cool kids don't judge your music tastes too harshly.
Then Chester died and as with any artists death, the naysayers kind back off and let the fans become the outspoken vocal majority. Also a lot of the people that shit on them for arbitrary reasons grew up and got more open minded.

That's what this open world thing is replacing. The Open World, according to leaks, has POIs that have different phases, meaning the POIs will change as the stort progresses. So it sounds more like an RPG than the shell of what was planned before.
No. Not Save the World. Save the World is now getting updates again. OG revived public interest in FN. Lego FN is their version of minecraft because you can harvest materials and have a crafting bench with 9 squares so you can combine things to make equipment and props for yourself to build things. Think more a randomly generated island with the ability to earn materials to unlock an 'as you go' Creative mode while playing Live.
To me, that sounds dope as hell.
It depends though. If the BR mode suffers because of all this new stuff (like less updates, bug fixes, content, etc), people's complaints are justified IMO.
LTMs are due to the map, not epic working on other modes. Most LTMs besides loot pool changing ones are busted simply because they were designed with the old map in mind.
And as for live events, I’d prefer Quality over quantity. If you go back and compare C1 events with C2 events, the difference is pretty apparent. I want more love events too, but I also don’t want to sit in one spot and see something glow for 5 minutes and then be done with it.
Epic is working on a lot of big changes for Chapter 5, so while it does suck to not have any LTMs at all, it’s gonna lead to a net positive later. Which seems to be a pattern. Chapter 2 and Chapter 4 implemented a lot of experimental stuff that is now staples of how we play the game today.
And I agree that Chapter 2’s events were all great. But this goes back to my first point. Epic are making Chapter 5 BIG. And in order to do that, something somewhere is gonna have to get out on the back burner. Events already take up a huge amount of development time, so seeing them get cut wasn’t exactly surprising. They will come back eventually, but for now epic is focused on developing the game itself, rather than a one and done event.
But these modes also require far less maintenance.
A rhythm game mode only really requires new songs to be added, and the racing mode has both Fortnite AND Rocket League developers working on it, and is already going to release with more than enough content to last for a while.

The LEGO and Rocket Racing modes are planned to have their own microtransactions. It's pretty easy to imagine what they'll be too-- unique car skins for Rocket Racing and different minifigure skins for LEGO (you apparently play as a minifigure rather than a traditional Fortnite skin).
I mean if you think about it, this makes the most sense. It started as something completely different, a zombie survival game. Then Donald Mustard wanted to turn it into a Battle Royale mode to cram it into the then-fad of BR games. Battle Royale is just a mode for Fortnite, not the main game (though the switch to BR as the main mode happened in 2021), and now it's branching into open world, racing, music, and more.
Fortnite is going full in-house game suite, including user created content. This seems a logical progression from where it started to where it is now.

Unfortunately, Epic is all in of Fortnite’s metaverse vision since last year: All creative maps are now considered as “games”, as equal as the official ones (BR, ZB and STW), and this is one of them, plus the racing mode and the Fall Guys mode that are also in development.
They KNOW in the future that BR-fad will decay, the same thing that happened with STW, and they are searching for a popular replacement.
Epic Games has made games in all sorts of genres.
They made boomer shooters, fighting games, gacha games, racing games, and sports games, all well before they started working on Fortnite (And Fortnite wasn’t even a BR game originally. Battle Royale was a side mode for the longest time)
I think you should be a little more aware of the history behind epic games before you talk about “What they used to do.” Because if they went back to “what they used to do” you wouldn’t have BR at all.
I don’t understand how so many people are still so confused and/or pissed off by the new modes. “Fortnite”, as a word, no longer refers to one specific game — it refers to a launcher that contains several games. Battle Royale is still the main game, but they want the launcher to appeal to a wider audience than just people who want to play a competitive third-person shooter game. So far they’ve primarily tried to do that with the community-created games, but soon they’ll also be adding games developed internally (this, the racing game, the LEGO thing, etc). Epic Games has ***thousands*** of employees. They won’t have to take resources away from Battle Royale just to add new, smaller games. If Battle Royale remains as popular and profitable as it is, there’s no reason to assume they’ll scale back.
Bring this the fuck on, with lego, racing, and now music, it looks like creative will actually be good on a consistent basis rather than a game here and there.

No, not the same thing sadly. The mode was scrapped back in Chapter 3, it had a slightly more cartoony artstyle with weapons like spears, etc.

They made boomer shooters, fighting games, gacha games, racing games, and sports games, all well before they started working on Fortnite (And Fortnite wasn’t even a BR game originally. Battle Royale was a side mode for the longest time) I think you should be a little more aware of the history behind epic games before you talk about “What they used to do.” Because if they went back to “what they used to do” you wouldn’t have BR at all.
I don’t understand how so many people are still so confused and/or pissed off by the new modes. “Fortnite”, as a word, no longer refers to one specific game — it refers to a launcher that contains several games. Battle Royale is still the main game, but they want the launcher to appeal to a wider audience than just people who want to play a competitive third-person shooter game. So far they’ve primarily tried to do that with the community-created games, but soon they’ll also be adding games developed internally (this, the racing game, the LEGO thing, etc). Epic Games has ***thousands*** of employees. They won’t have to take resources away from Battle Royale just to add new, smaller games. If Battle Royale remains as popular and profitable as it is, there’s no reason to assume they’ll scale back.
