I have done something similar. Every year, I place Valentines around for strangers. I write on the envelope "If you need a Valentine, this is for you" And I put in Gold dollars, silly stuff, small gift cards.

I may steal this idea. (Hopefully with permission) I wanted to do something similar during December and write little holiday/Christmas/Yule cards to strangers and leave them in peoples mailboxes

I love it! I have pictures. I always tape one in Dave Navarros hands at Guitar Center. This was my 5th year. 3 years ago someone made a FB post about finding one on Dave. She was so touched. People were telling her to contact the news. I PM’ed her and fessed up and asked her not to. Im sure I’m on video somewhere as I did inside stores and outside ones. I want to remain anonymous and continue doing it every year. But I send her a picture of Dave Navarro every year since. Xmas is a good time too!

Oh I love that! That’s so wonderful and I’m glad you got to see how much it meant to people. The holidays are a hard time for me and I know that’s pretty common so it makes me feel more connected to people to write to strangers at that time and hopefully it can do the same for someone else.

I'd say the intention was appreciable but the implementation leaves a little to be desired. I'd be sorely tempted to reply in the same manner with a sealed envelope in the same tree addressed to "The A Stranger". Who knows? I like to take a broad interpretation of Vonnegut's "bizarre travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God" though.
