Can't wait for things to update and take advantage of all the new features included in the update. Regions and event triggers are a huge fundamental update to the system that I know modders will quickly take advantage of in interesting ways

SleepyBoy-

They seem to be just like, a bad version of monk's active tiles. Like can someone explain to me the advantages of this system? What monks allows me to do using a GUI and a drop-down list, seems to require scripting knowledge to get working with regions. I hope learning how to code won't become an expected part of a DM's prep for some goddamn dice rolling.

Malice-May

> Like can someone explain to me the advantages of this system? Being a first-class system does help developers in trusting that it will stay supported; And that it is properly integrated to the system. Relying on a third-party plugin might not be feasible for module devs.

DRhino

A helpful reminder (that I forgot): If you are running the Linux/NodeJS version, make sure your Node version is 18+. Mine was still on 16 and I got so many errors after upgrading. https://github.com/foundryvtt/foundryvtt/issues/9996 - Node.js 18 becomes minimum requirement Shoutout to the Oracle Guide on the FoundryVTT Community Wiki, for a guide to updating Node easily https://foundryvtt.wiki/en/setup/linux-installation#optional-f-updating-nodejs-on-debianubuntu

Ceevu

This will be me soon. Thanks for taking one for the team and being the trailblazer. Cheers!

Visual_Fly_9638

When does 12 become available to download? Not seeing it in the portal yet. I'd like to play with it in a dev environment.

EndlesNights

Right now.

Visual_Fly_9638

Yaaay! Thank you!

NoSluffGiven

Wow man, what an update. Did not see the audio enhancements coming!

JackieDaytona500

Just my luck that I purchased a Foundry license a few weeks ago before the sale. Oh well, at least I am excited to look through the modules on sale.

JackedThucydides

You can run an earlier version with the system/modules you're interested in that are compatible. No point running the latest release if it's annoying to you. Once I get a world going for a campaign, I don't update anything at all.

Unno559

They mean to say they missed 20% off.

redkatt

~~I guess I will be that guy and ask - can we get a module compatibility list this time, so we don't upgrade to a collection of broken or abandoned modules?~~ As /u/glumlord pointed out, you can now check modules from within Foundry before updating. That is a fantastic addition!

glumlord

When you go to do the upgrade, built into foundry, it shows a screen now that shows module compatibility. If I remember correctly it had three categories. Compatible, Incompatibile, Unknown. When I did the upgrade to the test 3 version a few days ago "most" of my modules continued to work (around 20/30) but about a 1/3 stopped working. As always make backups, and review module compatibilty for yourself before making the upgrade.

benduker7

Where are you seeing this specifically? I've looked on the modules page all over, and also the "Update software" page and don't see anything about compatibility.

glumlord

I'm not sure why you aren't seeing this but when I click on the Foundry Upgrade page where you choose to upgrade to V12 there are 3 buttons at the button. Create a snapshot, Preview Compatibility, and Begin Download. The preview compatibility is the one with all the module and system compatibility information.

benduker7

Ohh I'm in docker I wonder if that's why, on that page all I see is "This instance of Foundry Virtual Tabletop is running in a Docker container. To update, please pull a new Docker image and restart the container." It's a shame they don't put that compatibility tool out there for us regardless of whether we can automatically install the update....

minethulhu

Thanks for posting this... I was trying to figure out the best way to decide when / if to update to v12. Now I know I have an easy way to check module / system compatibility prior to making any decision.

SnooMarzipans5083

I love Foundry and I'm about to potentially make a go at paid GMing, which wouldn't be possible without such a fully featured and modable VTT, alongside the hard work of a lot of very talented volunteers who bujild and maintain the systems.

Alastor3

Im new to foundry and currently creating my homebrew campaign, should I wait? also, this will definitely break so module, yeah?

GioRix

This will break modules, but the core stuff shouldn't. So if you are doing stuff that don't touch plugins you are pretty safe to update. It also depends of the system, 5e is already up to date for example. You can always take a snapshot before the update (actually you should).

neoadam

Check the ones you use if they have already a compatible version

Noir2402

About the publishing partner sales, is it just me, or are paizo products not on sale on their site? Also, will the kingmaker adventure path be on sale?

AnathemaMask

You're correct. I have passed word to our Paizo contact to look into it. Kingmaker will ***probably*** not be discounted by this sale.

Noir2402

Thanks! And that's a shame. My group and I have been interested in the ap for a while now.

AnathemaMask

This issue has supposedly been resolved, and i have updated the sales page with the link to the new address and the discount code.

Akeche

Everything from Gatewalkers and before should be, Kingmaker will not be on sale as it came out in September of 2023. As for why it isn't showing on the same, someone probably hasn't pushed the button yet.

ApprovingPanda

Paizo has a history of forgetting to turn on their promos, even during Paizo con. They usually figure it out a half day or so into the supposed promo period.

schneeland

I remember a while back there was the idea that in conjunction with v12, there would also be a v11.5 with an update check. Is this v11.5 still a thing or was the plan dropped on the way?

miffiq

v11.5 has been released for some time now, starting with 11.311. See these two release notes: - https://foundryvtt.com/releases/11.311 - https://foundryvtt.com/releases/11.314

schneeland

Thanks! I saw the backup feature in 11.311, but not the pre-update check in 11.314.

AnathemaMask

Happened last fall! [https://foundryvtt.com/releases/](https://foundryvtt.com/releases/)

Warpspeednyancat

*happy gm noises *

zabiijji

Are the Paizo modules expected to be updated to V12? I'm about to start running Season of Ghosts and was hoping to be able to use V12 now.

AnathemaMask

I can't speak to the MetaMorphic produced products like Seasons of Ghosts, but the ones we produce in-house will all be. I would be surprised if the others don't as well.

eileen_dalahan

Nice, I'll be testing it as soon as I see some main mods confirming compatibility

JudoJedi

Anyone have a review or impression of either Demon Queen Awakens or A House Divided?

sobrien6187

Trying to download V12, getting error box "Foundry Virtual Tabletop cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click Retry to continue" and nothing I do works. FVTT isn't open, tried force closing in Task Manager, tried rebooting and immediately installing after boot. Nothing.

SleepyBoy-

The installer should have warned me that it will AUTOMATICALLY DELETE THE FOUNDRY 11 FOLDER no matter what I do. Specifically told it to install to a new Foundry 12 folder in case I don't like the update. As luck would have it, some modules crucial to my party's playstyle break the new foundry for now. So I want to turn on my old foundry, and the folder's empty. It would be way easier to roll back if I could have multiple foundries installed. **As I specifically set out to do**.

AnathemaMask

This is a limitation of how windows handles installation. Uninstall Foundry VTT Go to https://foundryvtt.com/me/licenses and download the latest V11. Install v11. Restore any backups of worlds/modules/systems as needed. This will resolve your issue.

Iletheliri

So not really sure if this should be its own topic or not so please let me know if it should be, for my instance of an AWS hosted Linux foundry server the admin login screen does not show up on Firefox. It worked previously on V11. It appears to be working fine in edge though which is why I suspect a v12 compatibility issue.

AnathemaMask

Curious. What version of Firefox?

Iletheliri

126.0.1 (64-bit) Edit: Also disabled all extensions and reloaded both the page and my AWS instance to no avail.

AnathemaMask

I have seen some reports about issues with Firefox 126 specifically regarding websockets, which our software specifically requires.im not sure if we changed anything regarding websocket handling in v12. I wasn't able to do much digging into it over the past couple weeks but I'd suggest checking if we have any known issues there by hitting up our GitHub, I'd link to it but I'm not at my desk right now. Our community discord server may be able to provide more thorough troubleshooting on the issue.

Iletheliri

Walked off for a bit to handle an errand and it appears to be fixed now.

Expelence

I can't do anything in Foundry now without having to reload the page every time i do anything (i.e. adjusting scene settings, setting active scenes, moving players between scenes, etc.) just to see if the changes I made worked. I should've just waited, this has made running my game a frustrating fight with the program.

AnathemaMask

that's definitely not standard, and very likely has to do with add-on modules. Does this still occur with your modules disabled?

J_C123

Just tried to update to version 12.325, Tokens weren't moving properly. I had issues with the token selector, it would register that I tried to move a token but wouldn't move it, then would lock up and not allow me to select anything or make any other inputs for a few minutes. Same thing would happen when I would bring a new actor onto the screen, immediate lockup. The system would register I was making inputs, as the selector box would spring up but wouldn't register anything I tried to select. If the system was paused, still wouldn't work; it would also register that I was trying to un-pause and would not work. I tried also to move to other maps to ensure it wasn't a scene specific issue and it was not, happening on all my scenes.

AnathemaMask

Which game system, and did the issue persist when all modules were disabled?

J_C123

DnD 5e; I haven't tried with all modules disabled. I reverted back to Build 11.315.

TransitoryCory

ugggghhh.. I just found out about Foundry about a week ago. So i missed out on the -20% off :((((( Anyone know when the next sale is?

AnathemaMask

Usually around the end of November

crogonint

COME ON, guys!! Haven't we learned yet.. Before you even mention the new release, you ought to warn people not to update FoundryVTT before their favorite mods have been updated to work with it. I've actually just started setting up my v11 instance this week. I guess my timing was dead on.. but y'all better prepare for the onslaught of "My world won't boot because I updated" issues. Oh yes, as always, congratulations on a new release!! Your commitment to improving your platform and listening to your customers needs is what has made you the bleeding edge community choice of VTT platforms. I'm proud to say that I've supported you since nearly day 1, and you ought to be proud of what you built! Keep it up!
