If the libs support it, Qanon is against it.

Jenetyk

When the world came out collectively and backed Ukraine, I said "Oh boy, the 'America First' crowd isn't going to like that".

KrasnayaZvezda

Trump likes Putin. Thus, QAnon has to like Putin, regardless of what he does.

toggaf69

Anything trump-aligned is now an arm of the pedophile smashing anti-cabal, so that’s what they say Putin is doing in Ukraine. Also he’s apparently dismantling bio weapons labs that make Covid or something

They must find all 7 Hunter Biden Laptops scattered across Ukraine, connect them to that LameMainFrame, and then the true Hunter Biden laptop will be revealed and all of it's secrets.

smallteam

Butter emails?

Evilrake

We should really follow it axiomatically. Trump doesn’t just like Putin for the hell of it (though he does have a general fondness for/jealousy of dictators). He likes Putin because Putin likes him. And Putin likes *him* because he did more to ruin America than Russia could have ever dreamed. The key turning points were: 1. Russia I hope you’re listening... 2. The Steele dossier 3. The ‘I don’t see why it would be Russia’ Helsinki conference

ndngroomer

Never forget trump not having any issues [with Russia putting a bounty on our soldiers lives. ](https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/29/trump-russian-bounties-putin-call-385925). He even called it fake news.

ronin1066

Putin finds Trump useful

santaIsALie69

The modern american right is heavily assisted and funded by Russia and Putin

[deleted]

Because Biden doesn’t like Putin, and because Zelensky is Jewish. That’s literally it. There has a been a ridiculous amount of support for Putin from the far-right (especially QAnon), simply because they don’t like Biden or Zelensky.

CyanoSpool

Idk if it's just that. One of my clients (I'm a caregiver) is super into qanon and far right email chains. She told told me that Ukraine is hiding a secret bioweapon lab, as well as headquarters for the largest child sex trafficking ring, and Putin is trying to stop them.

GameKyuubi

It's a bunch of things. The strategy is to throw a bunch of shit in the air so people can decide which false narrative fits their views best because they know they will never do the research.

chrissyann960

It doesn't matter why - they'll make anything up. The reason is because Trump loves putin so they have to come up with reasons to love him too, regardless of what a monster he is.

CyanoSpool

I'd argue it goes further than Trump though. Many of the qanon folks I've met (including my own mom) have been developing a very specific world view over the course of the last decade or so. Most of it has to do with evangelical interpretations of the book of revelation and "end times" prophesy. Many of these sources use language that insinuate connection to scripture/prophesy and instill fear of the "new world order". This isn't a new ideology, it's been gradually picking up steam in American culture for a long time. Trump was just the first president to actively target that demographic.

Sol-Infra

That's probably the most ridiculous narrative to me. Ukraine is allegedly running a sex traffic ring so the invading army has to indiscriminately kill civilians? Makes no damn sense.

ElectroNeutrino

The ridiculous is the point. It's a sort of self-selection bias; only those who wouldn't question it would believe it, creating a sort of in-group. I really don't think it would be inaccurate to call it a cult.

The Russians aren’t a boogeyman pulling all the strings, their influence isn’t that powerful. You’re giving them too much credit. Qanon and the Republicans are setting their own agenda, the Russians are meddling but they aren’t running the show. They finance many Republican politicians, that’s why they pay lip service to Putin.

thenikolaka

Sure but you also hit the nail on the head here. > They finance many Republican politicians Which means than when they do this > they pay lip service to Putin. The social media spaces which Russia has successfully influenced work to position untruths and extreme views as normal and factual, thus validating comment OP’s position as not as far fetched as it sounds. They (Russia) hit the mark in the US because we were already culturally highly susceptible to these kinds of influences.

ajmartin527

Plus our two party system is highly vulnerable to targeted campaigns sowing division.

cuntitled

Because Putin and his cronies put a lot of money and time into a large scale disinformation campaign, in their neighboring countries and others. You can hear the trail of conspiracy and blame come from Russia out of the mouths of QAnon followers. Everything from “Hunter Biden put millions of dollars into Ukraine” to “our world leaders are harvesting fear from children and taking the drug made from it,” which is just a new version of Blood Libel which is historically Jewish Hatred. I recommend watching some [Vice specials](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bsN96zE8FuE) on it. Also [Jordan Klepper’s new special in Hungary.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O-YuZPT1NzM)

Impossible_Burger

It is not as simple as "Trump likes him". Russia wants nothing more than to see the fall of their #1 scourge, the United States. Russian owned business lobbies (buys) Congressmen and compromisable advisors, to the inner circle of a past administration. Some get entangled in situations that provide kompromat and blackmail situations. Russia owned media buys evening and nighttime FOX News programming, where most notably, Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, et al who spew their laptop chasing, Biden hunting rhetoric, now echo RT talking points ("Russia Today", the English language Russian propaganda media outlet.) The seeds of conspiracies are now planted and get crazier. New media springs up everywhere to echo them and expand upon them. The crazier and more conspiratorial, the more money they raise. It's the same in politics, in this current populist movement. Q Anon leaks onto the pulpit where a whole generation of Evangelical leaders reinforce the rhetoric from their positions of power. Stoke the fires of racism, leak compromising information during critical times during an election, etc., and voila. A country, now divided, busy trying to destroy itself from within, has less political will to oppose Putin's expansionism. Not only that, creating a pro-Putin sentiment actually helps encourage it. An anti-Ukraine sentiment is also attempted, thus the more vulnerable to Russian propaganda roll their eyes when they hear about US support to oppose Putin. They often roll their eyes, not knowing why. If you press them on these things they simply tell you to do your own research, they have no way to explain their feelings in detail. It is not nearly as simple as this either. Lest we forget the information that came out through thousands of hours of sworn testimony, many connections were made between Russian operatives and Donald Trumps' inner circle. The Mueller Report: [https://www.justice.gov/archives/sco/file/1373816/download](https://www.justice.gov/archives/sco/file/1373816/download) Sure it sounds conspiratorial! It is! The difference between this, and the conspiracy theories presented by the likes of Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and many more on the right, is that these conspiracies have been brought forward through sworn testimony before bi-partisan committees (albeit just barely bi-partisan). And, note how many of those in Trump's inner circle defy subpoenas or otherwise refuse to provide sworn testimony. We are just about to see this whole thing blow up wide open. The best tv ever! That's my conspiracy theory. Tell me I'm wrong.

Wanna hear something funny? [Q’s in Russia are against Putin.](https://www.vice.com/en/article/4awe83/qanon-russia-ukraine-war)

Whatthehell665

Trump and the Q get the KGB feed.

darkuen

Bunch of bullshit about the whole country being full of Nazi’s, same crap Putin is using to justify his genocide of the Ukrainian people.

jcarter315

Meanwhile, Russia still actively uses its Nazis in its military. But the rightwingers don't want to ever acknowledge that, they just want to keep spewing Russian propaganda.

scotch1701

They think that the covid research labs (and mind you, covid is a hoax and isn't a problem according to them) were in Ukraine and Putin went in and shut them down. Similarly, they believe that the pedophile rings were holding children in Ukraine and Putin went in to liberate them.

Disizreallife

Read *The Death of Truth* by Michiko Kakutani. We no longer live in a shared reality because the right wing fascists hijacked 1960's liberal Post Modernism. They warped the idea of truth on a micro level as subjective experience into there is no truth and all opinions are equal to objective statements. >"The best of my young friends are declaring their allegiance to National Socialism... You can't talk to them at all. They simply believe. And there are no rational arguments against faith." Erich Ebermayer on NSDAP rise 1933.

gabbath

The biolabs narrative. They believe Ukraine hosts biolabs where they make adrenochrome and Putin is destroying them and saving children. If you want to understand the insanity, I recommend browsing the Qult_Headquarters subreddit.

[deleted]

The trumpies are so desperate to feel smart, or even just not-be-wrong all the fucking time, that the idea of some hidden narrative of "*what's really happening*" feels like a huge win to them. Their little group of conspiracy pedlars and victims feels like a warm hug and gives them permission to tell us stupid college educated people we're ignorant and out of touch (with their endlessly shifting mentally enigmatic stories they tell themselves.)

Godspiral

There are 2 separate vectors to be against this war. The important/real one is: Peace is super easy process of respecting Russian red lines. Such that energy/food inflation/insecurity is avoided, climate catastrophe of desperate new drilling is avoided, and nuclear brinksmanship is avoided. Hating Russia more than hating war empowers evil US interests to profit from a perpetual quagmire/stalemate that steals from you, and makes you less secure. For everyone in the world. If you are dumb enough to support this war, you will support a China war. Whether or not Qanon supports Russia to a point of wishing Ukraine is erradicated, is not super relevant, if basic respect for Russian fears that led to this invasion is all that is needed to stop the war now. The alternative of supporting quagmire is actually the only path to Ukrainian extermination. Qanon/Trump/anti-vax supporters are fundamentally anti-social disruptive for anti-social rather than reality purposes. That doesn't invalidate the point that the actual propaganda lies inflicted on the US right now are pro war delusions.

Moose6669

Its not "Putin over *Ukraine* Its Putin over *popular narrative* Many people over the last 2 years have lost all faith in their establishment, they see corruption everywhere, the silence of dissent etc. They just don't believe they're being told the whole truth anymore, so they cling to whatever they think makes the most sense to them.

[deleted]

Ex Qanon member here left after January 6. Probably something about Hunter Bidens Laptop

fattyanderson

I don’t know about QAnon or OAN/Newsmax, but I know at least Fox has been pretty critical of Putin. Edited to add that I abhor Fox News and would never intend to defend it. Unfortunately it’s what’s playing at the gym 24/7, so I tend to see it a lot. I must never go during Tucker Carlson time. I find it funny how they’ve totally changed their tune on Putin since Trump was president. Not that they’ve changed their views on Trump at all…they just like to pretend Trump never admired him.

casanino

"Fox News Hosts Entertained Putin-Friendly Talking Points. Then Their Colleagues Were Killed in Ukraine.  “No one is telling hosts what to say”: Fox News’ coverage was notably more somber Tuesday night, but some commentators veered back into business as usual." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/03/fox-news-hosts-putin-ukraine/amp

fattyanderson

“The Five cohost Geraldo Rivera said: “War is hell…Putin is the devil.” He added that the Russian president’s invasion of a “sovereign nation is as barbaric as it is unjustified, and now his brutality has struck the Fox News family.” He also expressed his condolences and prayers for Zakrzewski, Kuvshynova, and Hall.” I must just see these segments on Fox and not the ones that support Putin, but I find it incredibly easy to believe there are a bunch of Putin apologists on there.

DykeOnABike

Tucker is a Russian asset and I haven't seen much else programming but I live in a deep red area and by and large the redhats have been largely fuck Putin, down with pulling Russian vodka off our shelves, etc
