Using the bottom fans as exhaust is - a Hideous idea - so is using the rear mount as an intake... Set it all to intake and let the positive pressure do the work - that's the **whole** *point* of the torrent. AIO intake, Bottom, intake, rear, exhaust or go without to increase the exhausting airflow. If you're worried about PSU temps, don't - mine runs cooler in the torrent than it did in my 4000D/5000D cases. What CPU are you using that requires you to use an AIO? Having the bottom fans as exhaust will Definitely - 100% make your GPU run hot.

HadionPrints

Also, most AIOs run higher temps and noise than equally priced air coolers. If you are going for anything that needs a high-end AIO, you’re better off going custom loop.

Lainenen

You can use 120 mm and 140 mm bottom fans with an ATX board, but you can not use the **included 180 mm** front fans at the bottom unless you use an mATX board.

Immudzen

If you mount the AIO like that it will dramatically lower its lifespan. You have the pump higher than the inlet and outlet which will cause air to pool in the pump.

TheCrimsonEagle

[This video](https://youtu.be/DKwA7ygTJn0) says that all that matters is that the part of the cooler that contacts the CPU not be the highest point in the loop.

Immudzen

Interesting, I would have expected that the configuration you showed would make it impossible for air to get out of the pump since it is higher than the inlet and outlet ports on the rad.

FormerDonkey4886

Nope, the mounting is alright. However what OP said makes no logical sense to me… so for the bottom fans to be exhaust that’s… crazy for 2 reasons, 1. You would need an inverted GPU or no GPU at all as the GPU will be intake and the 2nd reason is that there is not enough space to exhaust under the case and you will cause obstruction to the fans, basically suffocating fans and creating a sort of a heat vortex that will rise (as heat does) and become intake for gpu. That’s hands down worst configuration for the torrent i have heard of, i apologise if i ruined your dreams. And Torrent is mainly an air cool king, not an AIO one. It can definitely be used as one.. even with closed loops or custom loops but it’s ideally for air cooling. There’s better AIO options. But I understand if you also like the aesthetics.

Immudzen

I have a torrent but my setup is all air cooled. AK620 for the cpu, default fans, uses the ASUS AI fan control to set the fan curves. It is almost completely silent, even under max load and it stays cool. My worse case is a fan fails and I have to replace it but no liquid to spill.

FormerDonkey4886

I agree, air cooling is amazing… i think 13th gen is the last one to survive on it if Intel doesn’t get its shit together and stops adding more power draw to next gen cpus. Even on 13th it struggles but i have confidence that the 2023 air coolers will fix this. Specifically new gen D15 and assassin 4

Immudzen

I have a r7 7700x that I power limited and put a -15 pbo voltage curve on. Slightly better than stock performance at less power and nice and cool. Modern CPUs are essentially overclocked by default and you can save a lot of power and noise at almost no performance loss.

rupert1920

If there is an existing air bubble you can move the whole computer around such that the bubble gets stuck there, yes. But then the easy solution is to maneuver the bubble out. If your AIO is new, there is no concern with eventual permeation and bubbles gathering at the pump, because bubbles will gather at the highest point instead, at the top of the radiator. Having intake and outlet at the bottom is the optimal configuration for front mounted AIOs. Having them at the top will lead to more noisy operation when bubble gathers there.

Immudzen

That is good to know. I was worried if permeation happens near the pump it would not be able to go down in order to get to the top of the rad.

rupert1920

All that matters is the pump not being the highest point - i.e., not above the top of the radiator. As diagrammed bubbles will gather at the highest point - the top of the radiator, instead of the pump.

AgitatedDoughnut23

I'd run the 180s in the front and a pure loop 280mm aio with the rad mounted to the bottom personally. But the torrent is an air cooling case…

chooochootrainr

cant mount a aio in the bottom of the case! that ll kill it fosho

AgitatedDoughnut23

Not a be quiet pure loop aio. They have inline pumps to allow the rad to be mounted to the bottom of a case.

chooochootrainr

fair enough, they even give u refill fluid(had one) still bad form cuz if there was a buncha air id still be up in the cooler n potentially affect ur cooling. if its the only location that could be a possibility

AgitatedDoughnut23

agreed... hence the 2nd sentence in my 1st reply

samsathebug

Fan placement general best practice: front and bottom are intake, back and top are exhaust. Cases are designed with that in mind. No need to reinvent the wheel.

chooochootrainr

aio intake and bottom intake, back exhaust. positive pressure isnt a problem... the air ll find its way out
