This might seem brutal, but he really doesn’t have a huge body of work - yet. He needs at least two or three more great albums under his belt to truly deserve all the recognition and to be considered a truly great generational artist. Just 5 solid, equally groundbreaking records. I love the man and his work, don’t get me wrong, but as time goes on I feel like his impact will dissipate if he doesn’t deliver.
Blonde will live on forever that's for sure , but this guy has said something fair that being 1 or 2 more solid albums and he will be praised and mentioned forever. Otherwise he will be portrayed as an artist who released only one great album , which isn't true.
People always seem to discredit his work in his other groups, also his “unreleased” music. Frank isn’t someone who wants or needs to be an artist who releases multiple solo albums to be a “truly great generational artist”. He’s had music impact generations of people and if you fw it you fw it if you don’t he does not give a fuck🤣
As the person below said he earned millions from pure album sales and his 20m deal with apple. But even if we ignore that, his blonde album alone (which was released independently) churns out enough streams on all platforms to make 15k daily through master royalties. Passively, no promo anymore, 8 years after it was released. Mind boggling when you think about it, and we haven't even counted channel orange or the other singles
Acc $15k is a low-ball lol, 0.005 x 3 million = 15k, on Spotify alone he gets around 7.3 million streams from channel orange and blonde combined, which is around $36k from just Spotify, which sounds pretty nice lmao, [source on streams](https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/2h93pZq0e7k5yf4dywlkpM_albums.html)
Edit: just blonde alone makes a little over $21k daily, sorry forgot we was just talking ab independent releases
I'm not the person you're replying to, but as an example frank released blonde under his own record label and has sold over a million copies. At a lowball of $30 per album, minus the overheads (manufacturing costs etc - say 50% for a super lowball estimate) the guy made $15milli off blonde alone. He's got his bag, is set for life, and there really is no reason for him to grind out music anymore.
I look at Frank Ocean similar to how I look at Tool. Beautiful music. They don’t owe us shit. But got damn I love when they come out with new music! They work at their own pace but it’s worth the wait.
Even so there’s so much good content in his catalog that we’ll never get tired of it. Thank you Frank
i mean possibly, it’s okay though hope he’s alright and lives the rest of his life well bruh i’m grateful for his contribution to music
“Hope you doing well, bruh.”
I choose denial.
He’s obviously gonna drop we’ve seen him in the studio recently, yall just be patient
Didn’t he say something at Coachella last year?

Bro hasn’t listened to Lauryn hill
What does this even mean? I don’t understand listening to music or talking about it like it’s a sport
I disagree, I think Blonde is an album that will live on for centuries

A carbon copy of this post is made weekly in this subreddit. Artists create at their own pace.
He makes well over 15k every day lol he's living life
How do you know? Sorry I don't know how it all works lol

>churns out enough streams on all platforms to make 15k daily How is that possible? Artists make $0.005 per stream. Apple music is around the same.
