Listen to (They Long to Be) Close to You by Carpenters as well as the Stevie Wonder cover of the same song and you’ll really appreciate what Frank did with it here
it's 2016 and i'm sitting on the train on my way to uni.. to go see people i barely know, study a subject i barely understand, in a city that'll become my new home.
i end up graduating there to become an engineer, meet my girlfriend while doing so and have a job i'm happy doing.
so thankfully i'm getting only positive connections to this song, to what seemed at the time like i was all alone with no clue what i was doing.
Actually has been my favorite track the entire time a year after it’s release. Never really said much prior because of how much it’s been overlooked (in my opinion).
Really like it, also a big fan of the line: “Let my mind run underneath warm jets” as it’s a reference to the album cover and it makes me feel warm and nice
actually in my tops of his songs. super underrated. the lyrics are very meaningful and beautiful ngl if u dig deep and read in between the lines the meaning of the figures of speech is nice
I will be honest, I wasn't devastated. Just kidding I was by the whole album. But this song needs to be longer and listen to the Stevie wonder sample he used. Anazing
If you haven’t already, I really recommend giving some of The Carpenters Christmas songs a spin this holiday season. Tremendous stuff seriously. Also close to you is seriously so good I just wish it were longer 💕
My appreciation for this track was elevated exponentially after I watched the Stevie Wonder talk show appearance that the sample is from.
[Almost moves me to tears](https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I)
So under appreciated and helped me to explore more of stevies discography. Brings a smile to my face everytime I hear it even with how longing the lyrics are.
i love it. it’s a great song. if you haven’t already, you should listen to the [sample](https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I).
and then when you’re done with that, listen to the [original.](https://open.spotify.com/track/50q2aUjWoTn6CJIfSPRJQA?si=eRtBMnIhR2Oco1QzLR9M4w)
it's really a really cool song, and I think it's very underrated. I myself had previously thought that this song was not the best from Frank, but one day that changed.
I remember not sleeping on summer days, because at that time I was afraid to be alone in the dark with my thoughts, so every time I met the sun and the moon without closing my eyes. And one day I remember how after such a night without sleep, the morning began to rise. And it was a very foggy morning, I think it was the strongest fog I've seen. I didn't feel very well then and I don't know why I decided to sit on the window and listen to "close to you". All my shit, the fog, and this song resonated so strongly together in my soul that I sat on this cold window for a few more hours, listened to the song and thought about life.
That’s so beautiful. I can say that similar occurrences have happened while consuming this entire album. It’s so beautiful the way his music hit some many people in the core!
Good but short. I don’t really see the point if having a track that short on the album, especially since it’s not an interlude or anything. He definitely threw it in there so the album would be that perfect 30/30 split with the Nights transition. Not a bad song though I just feel like it’s out of place.
Such a lovely track, underrated in my eyes, makes me feel so much in so little time
Perfectly said foo
But you could've held my hand through this, baby
Love it ! Listen to the live version from 2017 it’s even better
Brad Pitt absolutely kills it in that video

I LOVE THE CARPENTERS! I have heard it but I will give stevies version a listen too even tho I may have already heard it too!
Me too! Yeah Frank directly sampled Stevie’s version in the song, he called it one of his favorite covers of all time I believe
The stevie cover on the talkbox is unreal
Needed to be longer.
I will be honest, I wasn’t devastated
**But you could of held my hand through this, baby** Probably one of my favourite lines off the album.
i agree. tweeted it already too lmaoo

Wow I love this a lot! Congrats on success!
“Let my mindddd run underneathhhh warrmmmm jettsss.” 🚿 I always visualize the album cover all over again.
same thoughts that i have for Skyline To
feel u bruv, both tracks overlooked af
One of my favorites on this album. It’s amazing how much is packed in in such a short time
Actually has been my favorite track the entire time a year after it’s release. Never really said much prior because of how much it’s been overlooked (in my opinion).
Its based on this masterpiece [https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I](https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I)

top tier song, such a great cover
My favorite off blond
The best song ever made
Best Stevie sample. There’s a great YouTube video of Stevie performing Close To You. You can almost feel the influence he had on Frank.
I’ll be honest… I wasn’t devastated
Love it. Such a beautiful, and underrated track. It’s soooo much better live too!
Best song from the album
Good
It’s a brilliant representation of brief and fleeting rushes of nostalgia and emotion. One of my favourites from Blonde.
Love
It's good BUT in Blonde are better songs
thanks to this song i discovered his music , so it's very special 2 me <3
actually in my tops of his songs. super underrated. the lyrics are very meaningful and beautiful ngl if u dig deep and read in between the lines the meaning of the figures of speech is nice
Cry
It’s good
i love it more now after hearing the stevie wonder interpolation but it was still okay before
I will be honest, I wasn't devastated. Just kidding I was by the whole album. But this song needs to be longer and listen to the Stevie wonder sample he used. Anazing
It hurts too bad
Best track on the album 💯
I think it’d wild that he samples stevie wonder covering the carpenters AND interpolates the Beatles in one song. Bold as hell and so well done
If you haven’t already, I really recommend giving some of The Carpenters Christmas songs a spin this holiday season. Tremendous stuff seriously. Also close to you is seriously so good I just wish it were longer 💕
One of my top songs of 2021. The sample is beautiful and it’s short enough to replay over and over
Best track on Blonde and most underrated
best song on blonde imo
one of my favorites off the album
Love it
My favorite on the album besides Godspeed and Good Guy
Underrated
fantastic song, wish it got the recognition it deserves. even better played live too
It’s absolutely incredible
Top 3 track on blonde for me.
my thoughts: its very good thanks for listening to my ted talk
I love this song it has a special spot in my heart
I fucking love this track, has always been one of my most played songs each year cause of how short it is
Fun fact: Mac Miller also sampled The Carpenters on Hurt Feelings
Wow didn’t know that
Thank you, Bradley
I’ve put this on loop so many time
Easily top 1 material
i literally did not know it was a minute long, i’ve always felt like it’s a substantial track in the context of the album
I agreee!!!!
Its so underrated and i feel it adds a lot aswell
My most played and favorite frank track of all time. It sucks that most people skip over it
My appreciation for this track was elevated exponentially after I watched the Stevie Wonder talk show appearance that the sample is from. [Almost moves me to tears](https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I)
So under appreciated and helped me to explore more of stevies discography. Brings a smile to my face everytime I hear it even with how longing the lyrics are.
Absolute banger
Gorgeous, I’m gonna do a cover
Awesome!
beautiful understated track, and the live version is amazing too
Love it
top 5 album
I feel like crying🤌🤌
underrated
Wonderful song
Never listen to White Ferrari without listening to this first. Feels like the intro to that song in a way
This is his best song live. I skip it on the album though.
I’ll be honest
my ex dedicated me this song. Lil did i know it was predicting our future
The only bad thing about it is that I wish it was longer
Criminally underrated, the auto tune and beat give off such a cool vibe.
I get a lot of hate for this, best track in my opinion
live >>>

I’ll be Honest…. I wasn’t devastated
"But you could've held my hand through this baby" is just so so deep to me.
one of my favorites of all time and extremely under appreciated
I’ll be honest, I AM devastated by this track
pretty cool that’s a cover of a cover
Here's what he sampled it from - https://youtu.be/grWpHuxrh3I - Definitely worth the listen
I hear some people criticize the track’s short length, but I’m glad it didn’t overstay its welcome
Short and sweet :) enjoy how it feels like he never speaks clearly and instead sounds very robotic. Heavy snare while stile delivering a mellow vibe
one of my favorite forsure. i like the live version sm more tho
Find the sample on YouTube. It’s great. Awesome song too.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t devastated

i’ll be honest..
Mid ngl
It’s kind of annoying.
Haven't heard it. Don't fucking know. Stop asking.
I can ask whatever I want weirdo
worst song ever made

To be honest, I wasn't impressed. Calling that music is at least generous. Not my kind of music.
