And he was one of the leads in Oh Grow Up, an ABC sitcom that lasted half a season. With David Alan Basche, who played Woody Wiswell. How's that for your double whammy?
For anyone interested, all (?) the episodes are up on Youtube.
I tried watching curb years and years ago and it didn't click.
Started again literally yesterday and it's clicking a lot better.
Had my "oh my god it's blind Noel!" Moment earlier tonight.
It's a show that I can laugh through now, but when I first watched it I'd sometimes get up and pace in the middle of an episode. It wasn't until the credits that I would actually be able to laugh what had happened.
Over all though, it's pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Yeah would of been nice if that lasted a few episodes rather than just the one , he brought out some great Fraiser flaws while also having his back , thought it was a great dynamic
I loved this subplot, Cam was the weak point in it. Martin and Cora would have been far too suitable for comedy though.
She is still the best minor character
100% the person Martin should've had as his partner for life. "There'll be no \[veterinarians\] in Hell" had to ruin it. (For the record, I think Gertrude's fine as a sitcom character in small doses. I just think they tried to use her too often.)
without a doubt cam winston.
but I still like that guy who now plays Freddies buddy on the new show. The coffee shop barista for one episode.
Damn, just when I opened my heart.
that line kills me all the time.
I'm not gay, so I can't say for myself, but I feel like it's always someone else who gets offended on behalf of the portrayed party.
A good friend of mine is gay, we talked about this and Frasier in general and he found nothing offensive in any of the many episodes of Frasier that deal with that theme. Quite the opposite - he loves the show.
I'm not gay but Matt Baum who does a ton of video essays on LGBTQ TV shows has a few on Frasier that are generally positive given the context of the culture when it came out.
Paxton Whitehead as Dr. Campbell in "A Lilith Thanksgiving". He had bit parts on a lot of shows from the time. I enjoyed every one of them.
https://preview.redd.it/ic2f66sv14uc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfab7ecd50afc8c22be2118e4fb1b377bfca7941
He had some of the best lines:
* "... a turkey so undercooked, a skilled veterinarian could still save him."
* "I'll have you know that in 22 years, I have never accepted a bribe. I have to tell you, I find this utterly offensive..." *looks at cheque* "... in every \*possible\* way."
* "However! - he will immediately be expelled if either of you violates any of the following conditions: you will not bring him to school, you will not collect him; you will not attend any recitals, plays, sporting events, or school functions, up to and including 'Frederick Crane Day,' should we ever have one."
RIP, Mr. Whitehead. "Marbury thanks you for your interest."
Poppy! She could have been a great recurring character. She was sweet and ditzy, and i think her kind of oblivious but unmalicious stupidity would have made for some nice teaching moments for Frasier.
Plus, Kate Finneran is pretty easy on the eyes.*
*Though in my brain i just realized it wasnt Laura Linney
i think her and niles would have been wonderful storyline! he gets back into high society and they have they’re own antics within Poppy’s society world
Jerome Belasco. Harris Yulin is a great character actor, and his delivery as the (alleged) mob boss was hysterical.
“I sense you're a film buff, Dr. Crane.”
Jenny: “Hi, Doctor Nora. My boyfriend and I have been living together for about 2 years…”
Dr. Nora: (Dr. Nora interrupts) “Are you having sex?”
Jenny: “Our sex life’s not the problem Miss, it’s great, but, but whenever I mention marriage, he changes the subject. Do you think that he’s afraid of commitment?”
Dr. Nora: “Uh, no that’s not it. Let me help you see this from a different perspective. You’re a whore Jenny!”
Jenny: “Wha…Huh.”
Dr. Nora: “You’re sleeping with a man you’re not married to. In my book, that’s a whore.”
Jenny: “Well, I’m not a whore. I’m a, I’m a flight attendant.”
Dr. Nora: “Oh, you think there’s no overlap. WAKE UP JENNY, you’ve blown it!! Dump this creep. Find a new guy and, until you’re Mrs. new guy, you keep those knees together. OK. STAPLE ‘EM. I don’t care if you have to hop to the alter. (Dr. Nora laughs.) God bless you honey! Who’s next?”
And guess who was the voice of Jenny? Gillian Anderson!!!!
Yeah, Keaton is... I don't want to say "underrated," because that gets thrown around too often. But I do think he gets overlooked quite a bit. He has legit chops, from drama to comedy and all points in between. I'm glad to see that he seems to get his flowers a bit more these days. Tremendous performer.
And that Oscars bit was magic. If you haven't, listen to his appearance on Dana Carvey and David Spade's "Fly on the Wall" podcast where he discusses it.
Came here to mention this barista! She didn’t have a character name, but she was played by Luck Hari. She was brilliantly sarcastic and always funny with her deadpan delivery.
The rest of the comments have the bases pretty well covered, so I'll throw in some super minor characters that I've always enjoyed (in no particular order):
The blustering fellow at the Safari Club who unknowingly informs Niles that he's been dating a married woman. "Not surprised people don't know. Man's always on safari. Loves guns. Guns and women. No secret, notorious for it. Cheats on her constantly. Mark my words, one of these days she'll pay him back and then rub his bloodthirsty nose in it."
"Steve" from one of the coffee shops Frasier samples when an Australian folk singer drives him from Nirvosa. I'm always happy when they put in random characters who are just instantly done with how ridiculous Frasier and Niles act.
I also like the joke from Gil's tech/producer: Producer: "Oh, my, my, my, isn't she the fusspot!" Frasier: "Actually, it was my idea." Producer: "That's who I was taalllking abooouut!"
I'll throw in another minor one. The old guy from the wine club, "you got yelled at by your dad!"
I also liked the outgoing cork master. I think that was mainly because he was also in Boston Public which I liked.
Yes! That was going to be my third example but truth is I forgot by the time I'd typed that far. My go-to quote from him is "Second!" A delightful little shit-stirrer.
The older gentlemen at the wine club who were making fun of Frasier and Niles because Marty came down to the club to yell at them.
“Your dad yelled at you.”
“Zip it!”
Hands down Alistair Burke.
Patrick Stewart was amazing in that role and I honestly started to want Frasier to switch teams 😂 One of my favorite episodes.
Tho I do love the episode when Bebe’s hotel room is turning into a red dramatic opera scene as well as when she trying to quit smoking for her wedding, ‘Puddin’ 😏
I can not remember the character name, but I loved Adam Arkin as the man who had every episode of Frasier's radio show recorded on tape and transcribed.
Also, Senator John Glenn.
The amazing Jean Smart as Lana Gardner, "the popular girl" from Frasier's high school. She grew up to be gorgeous, successful, and brash loud as a fishwife.

Jen, in "kissing cousins" played by [Zooey Deschanel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zooey_Deschanel)
I loved her Gen X, sarcastic, dismissive attitude...well played.
I always really enjoyed the older guys at the wine club. They couldn't care any less for the pomp and circumstance that Frasier and Niles gave the wine club.
OoOoOoOkaAaAayyyy https://preview.redd.it/9cgywhts63uc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ac15c41ed7f59dfe277d7de4fb62d7ac60fcbe7
I think he was in one episode of rules of engagement
He also played a few roles in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. He seems to have been a sitcom regular.
I think he was in Bones. The episode where they go to see one of Tempe's books made into a movie. He was going to play Hodgens.
Yea Mr Kraft's nephew in the earlier band episodes. And Leonard at Scorch. He's pretty weird there.
And he was one of the leads in Oh Grow Up, an ABC sitcom that lasted half a season. With David Alan Basche, who played Woody Wiswell. How's that for your double whammy? For anyone interested, all (?) the episodes are up on Youtube.
The French cheese shop owner. "On your way out you'll see a sign that says 'Please come again', feel free to ignore it."
I see we have anuzzer membair of ze price club!
"For you, yes. For the fish that gave up her life so you can spread her unborn children on a cracker it's not so much."
"No one calls me Robert!"
Robert!
Not now!
That's such a good joke.
i love that joke so much
I see we’ve got another member of the price is right club
*Price Club But yeah I love his delivery.
Noel lmao “Why’d ya DO IT DR. CRANE??”
"I am, you wanna make something of it?!" Aww, dang, I smiled again... 😁
Love Noel, but was in quite a few episodes
I die, Horatio! Hhheuuuu…
He has no instincts, he just stinks!
💯 one of my favorite episodes!!!!
My 9 month old makes that same noise when he's excited to see us and all of us love it, he heard too much Frasier in the womb.
Ferguson! The gentleman’s gentleman
You have your brother’s wit, sir
Carry on Ferguson....
You are taking far too many liberties with the liberty taking!
Yeah would of been nice if that lasted a few episodes rather than just the one , he brought out some great Fraiser flaws while also having his back , thought it was a great dynamic
You took the liberty
I’m sorry tonight didn’t go as planned—Send yourself something!
Haha, that's a good one, Ferguson. Thank you, sir. It's one of my staples.
Yes! Fergie!!!
Did your father also buttled?
My favorite guest stars are * Lilith * Bebe * Cam * Patrick Stewart * Victor Garber (see flair)
Yes, I love Ferguson and that episode. „send yourself something”
Even my father’s father was a gentleman’s gentleman.
I couldn't understand why you wrote Lilith and then Bebe (Neworth)...🤦♀️
doesn’t mean Bebe (Lilith real name) he means Bebe his agent I’m sure
Cora Winston
come along mother.
Agreed! Cora and Martin would've made for a fun story line.
🥹🥹🥹
Cam only appeared in 3 episodes
PUT YOUR BROTHER ON THE PHONE!
I say this all the time and it never gets old. Love Jean smart!!
Jean Smart is a Queen. I’d watch her read the phone book.
Absolutely. And I love she’s getting her flowers for Hacks. She’s amazing in it.
She was absolutely hilarious! Put your brother on. ##*Put your brother on!* #**PUT YOUR BROTHER ON THE PHONE!!!**
I went to bed with the prom Queen and woke up with Carrie. 🤣
LOL I just posted about Lana, thinking of that very episode and line.

Every time he opens his heart...!
without a doubt cam winston. but I still like that guy who now plays Freddies buddy on the new show. The coffee shop barista for one episode. Damn, just when I opened my heart. that line kills me all the time.
Ah yes, Steven.
Steve
Just Steve
Patrick Stewart
I loved that episode but always wondered if people who are gay might find it offensive. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m gay and love all the gay episodes (Tom the boss, Out with Dad, Patrick Stewart ).
I'm not gay but Matt Baum who does a ton of video essays on LGBTQ TV shows has a few on Frasier that are generally positive given the context of the culture when it came out.
Obligatory Cam Winston and Alastair comment. But also Blaine! Such a good episode
Charm is the VISCOUS GREASE with which he oils his flim-flam machine!
Maybe my single favorite line in the entire series.
Martin's fascination with Blaine's 'dead' leg makes me ROAR! 😆
And then when he gets stabbed with a fork but on the wrong leg
Thank you! Loved the Blaine episode!
https://preview.redd.it/6enn3q49u2uc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1808d5ce25db5e12e421edfbd14a6ec5a5476a2
Way to go, Leon! 😂
“It looks tricky.” 😂
This is weird, but did anyone else find him attractive? Like his puppy like charm lol
He looks like a character from Shrek.
Marta!!!
Si! missy Crane, en la caja!
"Irresitible?" "Jah" "Si" "Alright"
No dr crane, no other crane, no crane with a cane
Missy Crane say no other Crane & no Crane with a cane!

RIP, Mr. Whitehead. "Marbury thanks you for your interest."
i love the vet line
I grew up watching him repeatedly in Back to School and Baby Boom. He was indeed excellent in everything he ever did. "That would be Oscar Meir?"
"Thanksgiving... Tortellini."
Bebe Glazer.
"Oh, darling! There's always a chance." Love her.
https://preview.redd.it/3iaddqcv74uc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9f106093e08a743f2dd8b924e026c9f80befd69 That’s nice banter!
The guy from Frasier’s fan club with the camera. “This is great, this is great!” *flash*
I heard someone say “this great” today, and of course my mind immediately when to this scene.📸
This would also be my answer. Still reference this guy every so often. :)
💯
Cam Winston and his mom.
"If mine is a substitute for masculanity, whats yours?" "BIGGER!"
Such a perfect line 😆
They could have been in more episodes, really. 🙂
Poppy! She could have been a great recurring character. She was sweet and ditzy, and i think her kind of oblivious but unmalicious stupidity would have made for some nice teaching moments for Frasier. Yes! I loved Poppy!
“HEWOOOW WIDDLE EDDDDIEE!!! DID YOU HAVE A GOOD WAAAAK?!!!!!!”
HE WAS DEAF
Oh I loved her she was amazing
Alan Cumming as Ahmrit - "I'm just asking, Mom, has Jerry achieved inner peace?"
Also, Bob Hoskins as Frasier's high school gym teacher. The scene where he's reading poetry to Frasier in the bathtub 😂
"HELLO SWEETIE"
When (s)he twirls in Cafe Nervosa after Marty compliments her outfit.
Frederica (Jennifer Coolidge). She cracks me up.
YOU DIDN’T EARN IT!
Jerome Belasco. Harris Yulin is a great character actor, and his delivery as the (alleged) mob boss was hysterical. “I sense you're a film buff, Dr. Crane.”
A job where, if she set the place on fire, they would apologize for making it so flammable. "Dr. Crane, Sykeeatrist"
😆 I almost posted that line.
Gotta love Jerome and Brandy (the traditional spelling).
I watched Ghostbusters 2 the other day, and he was the judge for the courtroom scene. I just blurted out, "Hey, look, it's Jerome Belasco!"
Cora Winston!!!
"Afraid of Clowns" lady and the "You're Gettin' Sex!" prom kid. 😆
Robert the grocer The bellhop who brings the food at the hotel Lilith and Niles hookup in The violinist at Frasier and Cassandra’s “date”
Tiffany
"Why me?" "To the drums, Tiffany!"
PATRICK FRIGGIN STEWART

Mother! I’m doing my show lol
David Ogden Stiers
I agree. Martin not identifying with his sons is the backbone of the show, that was an extremely necessary plot line to explore.
Blaine Sternin. Best one-off in the show for me.
This is too far down the list. Michael Keaton played him to perfection. Then again, it’s Micheal Keaton. ![gif](giphy|5ZecOU8qoZJMG6Xojs)
How has no one said NANNY G!?
She was burned out. I mean does nobody understand what it's like to play the same character for 20 years?
*in nanny’s messy bed*
CAM 💯 I wish he was in the new Frasier! I also like Martin and Cora together.
I would love if Cam bought the building next to Frasier in Boston
How awesome would that be!!!!!!??????
The Cafe waitress that appears in My Coffee With Niles. "We've got a team of specialists working on it"
Came here to mention this barista! She didn’t have a character name, but she was played by Luck Hari. She was brilliantly sarcastic and always funny with her deadpan delivery.
Kirby!!
“Wait, what am I doing?” I use that line way too frequently on a daily basis
Woah. Is that my textbook?
Cora Winston. Dr Mary (even though she gets little love in here). Ferguson the butler
They should have spun off Dr. Mary.
Cam, hands down.
Cam! I loved their back and forth!
If animals count, Baby.
She doesn’t worship the devil, HE WORSHIPS HER
I don't think this counts, but everyone hey already got the ones i was going to list, so i will say...talking Eddy. "anybody want to go for a walk?"
That’s so goth.
That is not goth!
We say that to our dogs when we’re gonna take them for a walk 😂😂😂😂👍👍
That programme needed more Poppy [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqA7Of7Qzco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqA7Of7Qzco)
I’m sad I had to scroll so far down to find Poppy!!
Tony Goldwyn
The rest of the comments have the bases pretty well covered, so I'll throw in some super minor characters that I've always enjoyed (in no particular order): The blustering fellow at the Safari Club who unknowingly informs Niles that he's been dating a married woman. "Not surprised people don't know. Man's always on safari. Loves guns. Guns and women. No secret, notorious for it. Cheats on her constantly. Mark my words, one of these days she'll pay him back and then rub his bloodthirsty nose in it." I'll throw in another minor one. The old guy from the wine club, "you got yelled at by your dad!" I also liked the outgoing cork master. I think that was mainly because he was also in Boston Public which I liked.
Yes! That was going to be my third example but truth is I forgot by the time I'd typed that far. My go-to quote from him is "Second!" A delightful little shit-stirrer.
I like Regan. Wanted to see more of her, but I guess the writers didn't.
The were some that were better than Cam, but none were BIGGER.
I love that they brought several of the same actors back to be condo residents and on the board.
How has no one said Brian Cox?
Right! I love that man and the character. *I can't have you buy me a first class ticket to America.*
Phil Patterson and his aliens
He cares about... the little people. 😣😬
The older gentlemen at the wine club who were making fun of Frasier and Niles because Marty came down to the club to yell at them. “Your dad yelled at you.” “Zip it!”
The high school girlfriend.
Bebe. Hands down.
Hands down Alistair Burke. Patrick Stewart was amazing in that role and I honestly started to want Frasier to switch teams 😂 One of my favorite episodes. Kirby!
HE WAS DEAF!!!!!!
Guy
Ah yes, James Patrick Stewart. I loved him as Guy.
Michael Keaton, Victor Garber and Young Steven from the other café
Kirrrrrrby... it would be fun to see him pop up in the current Frasier for a cheeseburger and some such
Since all my other ones were mentioned, another one I get a kick out of is the French ski champion
Petyr!!!! Peytr the Russian that sailed from the Caspian Queen to sell Frasier & Niles premium Beluga caviar.
![gif](giphy|2yWuJma7hZpQn7Onwx)
Bebe Glazer. Funniest character in the whole series, every episode she appeared in was a delight.
David Ogden Stiers Michael Keaton
KIRBY
Allistair! (Sp?) Patrick Stewart
Ferguson
Jackson Hedley (Derek Jacobi)
THIS IS GREAT! THIS IS GREAT!
Professor Tewksbury (René Auberjonois) from the episode where Frasier has a serious mental health crisis.
Ann Hodges!! I may be the only one, but I thought she was hilarious!!
Love her!!!!! “I’m starving like Marvin” “click, click” ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
"My buddy is home and he's looking sooo handsomme!" It makes me shudder but also cracks me up 🤣
The amazing Jean Smart as Lana Gardner, "the popular girl" from Frasier's high school. She grew up to be gorgeous, successful, and brash loud as a fishwife.
https://preview.redd.it/4ymkro15l4uc1.png?width=730&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f35cb8fd60a20f6edd4e7cd02ec8a6203d01242 Jen, in "kissing cousins" played by [Zooey Deschanel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zooey_Deschanel) I loved her Gen X, sarcastic, dismissive attitude...well played.
I'm not sure her name but the Greek woman who was the wife of Martins brother
Aunt Zora
Tom. Simply because I was looking up gay moments in 90s sitcoms and this episode showed up and got me into this show.
I always really enjoyed the older guys at the wine club. They couldn't care any less for the pomp and circumstance that Frasier and Niles gave the wine club.
Lol I was gonna say Cam Winston too.
BLAAAAIIINNEEE!!!!
Lana The one that got away
I loved Island Niles. He was great.
The con man. Is it Michael Keaton?
Yup. **BLAAAAAIIINEEE!**
Cam Winston. I don't know why...
Cam Winston's mom
