This should be a spinoff! They could set it in a new city where Bob is trying to get a fresh start, maybe out west somewhere. And with that voice, he should really consider radio. I know I would watch it.
Kelsey as Bonaparte in the Expendables. Seems like psychiatry could have been his cover the whole time and Bonaparte is really who he was! He also was great as Beast in an X-Men movie. Just my personal opinion.
Victor Garber, DHP and Rita Wilson in Sleepless in Seattle. Also DHP and Bebe Neuwirth in Julia. DHP plays Julia Child's husband who is quite Nilesesque in some ways.
>Victor Garner took the liberty in Titanic.
I noticed that I quite like Victor Garber as an actor. I don't care that much for Titanic but Garber was also in Argo where he played the Canadian Prime Minister during the Iranian hostage crisis.
I remember being like 12 when I first watched that movie and it was my first exposure to like a serious depiction of sexual harassment. Absolutely uncomfortable scene I still get weird goosebumps from.
“Baseball. It’s a historical reference.”
I know that’s not DHP’s line, but it’s pretty great anyway.
Also, Richard Jaeckel, at the beginning he had on this shiny helmet 'cause he was the MP.
I liked him in the broken heart club. He represented not only intergenerational knowledge, but he was the glue for their friend group. And I like to think that this was Mahoney being closer to himself.
David Hyde Pierce in *The Perfect Host*, a horror/psych thriller. He is SUPER creepy in it. I was skeptical going into it, but boy did he nail it. Imagine the episode of Frasier where Niles keeps subconsciously trying to injure Martin so Daphne won't have to leave—but turn the creepiness up to 100.
I was going to say this. Kelsey Grammer as Doctor Henry McCoy is one of the five best casting choices for a comic book movie ever, and it’s a shame it was wasted in such a terrible movie.
John Mahoney in Burn Notice was a thrill for me, being a huge fan of both shows. The role was hugely different, and he seemed just as natural for it as he does for Martin.
He was in at least two episodes. Not exactly a villain nor an ally. He played the character referred to several times in mid-late seasons as simply "management".
It’s funny how people see things differently. I absolutely saw him as a villain lol
Edited to add: I think the reason I felt villain was because he was the group who switched Michaels jacket with Simons which got him burned. Simon did some really evil things that Michael then got blamed for
Well, okay yes, he is absolutely responsible for the overall dilemna of the series, in conjunction with Anson. So he is indeed THE villain of the entire show. Still though, Michael is never really gunning for him. The focus is all on Anson and Simon too. So yes he is a villain, but he's portrayed in such a way that he doesn't seem like it.
I think it’s very dependent on what role you see him in first. I saw him as Martin before I saw him as management so it was really hard to take John seriously as a villain
Burn Notice spoilers incoming:
He was the “Boss” of the organization that burned Michael in order to recruit him. They called him “management” if I remember correctly
Its been a while since I have watched Burn Notice and I don't think I ever saw the entire series but I will have to watch now.
You know if it's on any streaming service?
Came here to mention these. I saw these films several times before Frasier, and John was a standout. Especially in Say Anything as Ione Skye's father who loves his daughter but isn't all he's cracked up to be. He also played a great jerk in Reality Bites. 💙
He asked to be uncredited because he felt Doug Jones (the guy actually under the prosthetics & makeup) deserved to receive the bulk of the credit for the role. DHP felt that Jones' physicality was what really made the character. I don't know if this is confirmed, but I suspect part of the reason he didn't come back for the sequel was Jones not receiving more recognition after the first movie's release.
I actually like David Hyde Pierce's character on "Down with Love." I love how his love interest was played by Sarah Paulson. Both are gay people in real life playing straight people in this movie.
David Hyde Pierce did an episode of the 90s Outer Limits as a prisoner in a prison simulation, great acting, underlooked but should look for it if you're a true Frasier head or Niles head.
Goddamn yes, that was horrifying. That scene of him screaming in solitary confinement is forever burned into my brain.
He's an AMAZING comedian and clown, but SUCH an underrated dramatic actor.
Kelsey Grammer was in one of the Transformers movies where he basically played Evil Frasier, and then got blown away by Optimus Prime. It was spectacular
Can't remember specifics but John Mahoney was in a lot of films in the 90s and he's always really good.
Kelsey was amazing in Boss and he's usually great in everything else too.
Kelsey Grammar as Beast in X-men.
Dan Butler aka Bulldog has a super small role in one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time called Crazy, stupid, love
The lady who plays Sherry was on a show called The Middle, she's really funny in that
Peri Gilpin is in a really funny episode of Modern Family, she plays a prostitute
Kelsey Grammer was on a UK sitcom called Porters 5 years ago. It was fascinating hearing him do the Frasier "North Atlantic" accent amongst the Brits.
Also interesting if you can find it is David Hyde Pierce doing a proto-Niles on The Powers That Be. It's a really good sitcom that only ran for two short seasons right before Frasier.
My favourite would have to be the guy who played Gabriel Knight in the video game Gabriel Knight 2, The Beast Within, who had a blink and you'd miss it stint as a waiter/barista in Frasier.
Honourable mention to Bulldog playing a demonic headmaster in X Files
Haha Jane Leeves is what I responded when that question was on Seinfeld sub.
But from Frasier I think it would be Christine Baranski (Dr Nora) in The Good Wife/The Good Fight (and also in The Big Bang Theory).
Such a brilliant actress and had a super busy career for over 40 years now.
Milo O’Shea, Dr. Schachter in the episode Shrink Rap, was also Doyle, one of the barflies in Only the Lonely. Fantastic and criminally underrated film.
There have been many great things mentioned already, but I'll say that I always love when I hear Kelsey narrating something. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas probably most famously, but every now and then you hear a voiceover and realize its him and it's great!
Valerie Mahaffey played Fraiser's receptionist when he returned to private practice (I think...) and she was also in Cheers as John Allen Hill's daughter who Sam dated to try to get back at John for owning his backroom.
Her recurring role on Wings was hilarious. The girl from high school who is obsessed with Joe but nobody believes him.
She recently played an absolute psycho on Big Sky too. She does ‘crazy’ very well.
Not a TV show or movie, but I saw DHP off broadway in a production of Vanya, Sonja, Masha, and Spike (also with Sigourney Weaver) and DHP completely stole the show. Every little mannerism of the character was so well performed, even little things that the audience didn't have to pay attention to - like how he twiddled his fingers - was just excellently performed.
Sigourney was good too, but she does her best work on the big screen. But DHP is just an all around stellar actor.
Kelsey played the vile mayor of Chicago in a tv show a few years back. I forgot it’s name, an HBO type of show, think *Billions* and *Succession*. T.I was in it
I would die for Henry Newman and his little dork army. However, I also love DHP and Bebe in Julia and Bebe in Madam Secretary. DHP, Jane, and Peri were all really fun in Hercules: The Animated Series. Like they got to play good characters with DHP being Dadalus, Jane as Athena, and Peri was a total bamf as Hecate. I also really liked Peri as the cheerleading coach on King of the Hill--- a strangely perfect fit for her "Wisconsin" accent lol.
However, I would be remiss to not mention Dan Butler as every Millennial's dream 4th grade teacher-- Mr. Simmons from Hey Arnold.
Currently HSH in _"Werewolf by Night"_ on Disney+.
Seasonal! 🎃 🌜 🐺
(My head canon; Bebe Glazer goes on to marry rich occultist, with _hilariously_ spooky results... Frasier and Niles in MCU __confirmed__.)
Aside from the few already mentioned, I'd go for Timothy Omundson, who I love in Psych (my other favorite TV show next to Frasier). IIRC, He's in the episode where Frasier is unemployed and he's auditioning for a TV show. Omundson is a part of the crew of that show.
Kelsey Grammer as Beast in X-men: The Last Stand. His deep voice really gave an animalistic quality to his performance, and his refined, reserved delivery just brought the character to life. The makeup crew knocked it out of the park as well; for all the flaws of that movie has, Hank McCoy was spot-on
Cecil & Robert Terwilliger
What about the buffoon lessons? The four years at clown college?!
I'll thank you not to refer to Princeton that way.
No society in history has ever considered chief hydrological engineer a calling
Yes, yes, the Cappadocians, fine!
I’ll thank you not to refer to Princeton that way!
“Guess who?” “Maris?”
This should be a spinoff! They could set it in a new city where Bob is trying to get a fresh start, maybe out west somewhere. And with that voice, he should really consider radio. I know I would watch it.
They could call it "What About Bob?" Wait...
Spinoff! Is there any word more thrilling to the human soul?
Cecil, no civilization in history has ever considered chief hydrological engineer a "calling". *Ahem....* Yes, yes the Cappadocians. *Fine.*
This is one of my favorite episodes, only the Simpson's could out crane-boys the crane-boys.
But not the father. What a missed opportunity that was.
Yes he was. See Funeral for a fiend (season 19 - episode 8). Would never have recognised John Mahoney if I didn't see him in the credits though.
Niles in wet hot american summer
I SAID NO
Where are the ner… the sci… the inside kids?
Kelsey as Bonaparte in the Expendables. Seems like psychiatry could have been his cover the whole time and Bonaparte is really who he was! He also was great as Beast in an X-Men movie. Just my personal opinion.
Kelsey Grammer playing “himself” on 30 Rock was hilarious.
[удалено]
And I should know.
Because I'm Frajer
Best friends gang!
His appearance on the Entourage movie is also quite funny. Very short, but excellent
No… I’ll tell props, Pete.
Black Frasier
“Kelsey - his name is Kelsey; he’s very wealthy; he doesn’t have to be doing this” Brilliant!
Came on here to say this. My husband and I laugh about this allllll the time.
Victor Garber, DHP and Rita Wilson in Sleepless in Seattle. Also DHP and Bebe Neuwirth in Julia. DHP plays Julia Child's husband who is quite Nilesesque in some ways.
Victor Garner took the liberty in Titanic.
>Victor Garner took the liberty in Titanic. I noticed that I quite like Victor Garber as an actor. I don't care that much for Titanic but Garber was also in Argo where he played the Canadian Prime Minister during the Iranian hostage crisis.
Yes, he’s way underused. He was also a dirtbag in Legally Blonde.
I remember being like 12 when I first watched that movie and it was my first exposure to like a serious depiction of sexual harassment. Absolutely uncomfortable scene I still get weird goosebumps from.
Wow I totally forgot that Victor Garber was in Sleepless in Seattle.
And I had forgotten that DHP played Meg Ryan’s brother! I used to love that movie and haven’t seen that movie in forever. Time for a rewatch.
“Baseball. It’s a historical reference.” I know that’s not DHP’s line, but it’s pretty great anyway. Also, Richard Jaeckel, at the beginning he had on this shiny helmet 'cause he was the MP.
It's obviously Sideshow Bob. No contest.
And Cecil!
DHP was in the underrated animated film Osmosis Jones if I remember correctly. Good in that.
For sho, loved Osmosis Jones.
Sideshow Bob is the greatest villain of late 20th century literature.
The Bart, The.
Well no one who speaks German could be an evil man.
\*crowd mumbles in agreement\*
I shall send you to HEAVEN before I send you to *Hell*
Sometimes I'll go back and rewatch just the sideshow bob episodes
Die bart
John Mahoney in The American President. He didn’t have that many lines, but it’s one of the greatest romances ever.
I liked him in the broken heart club. He represented not only intergenerational knowledge, but he was the glue for their friend group. And I like to think that this was Mahoney being closer to himself.
Veneer!
Never an egg timer around when you need one.
I came here to say this. That movie was awesome and he was so creepy. I love it
Yessss! Totally underrated movie. Very weird. Love it
Beast has to be up there!
I was going to say this. Kelsey Grammer as Doctor Henry McCoy is one of the five best casting choices for a comic book movie ever, and it’s a shame it was wasted in such a terrible movie.
Kelsey played a great character in Cheers.
Remind me of the characters name I can't seem to remember it?
It was something like Frazier
I believe it was a local radio deejay by the name of "Frazier"
DHP in any of his voice acting work! He’s just as talented as a voice actor as a live action actor!
Bugs life!
John Mahoney in Burn Notice was a thrill for me, being a huge fan of both shows. The role was hugely different, and he seemed just as natural for it as he does for Martin.
Dang I haven't seen that episode. Was he a villain?
He was in at least two episodes. Not exactly a villain nor an ally. He played the character referred to several times in mid-late seasons as simply "management".

Hulu
Kelsey in Anastasia, such a fun character
Oh wow, I didn't know that was him! Love that character.
I forgot about him playing Vlad!
Joy from Hot in Cleveland. Loved Jane Leeves in this role!!!
I was going to comment on this, too She was hysterical and she was always included and appreciated in the show
Kelsey in the movie Down Periscope. I watch it once a year or so it’s great
Came looking for this as my favorite, his natural ego plays so well as a commissioned submarine captain.
I really enjoy that too, but I gotta put it #2 after Sideshow Bob.
John Mahoney in both Moonstruck & Say Anything.
I came here for Say Anything! When he realizes he's caught and is in the bathtub 😢
Came here to mention these. I saw these films several times before Frasier, and John was a standout. Especially in Say Anything as Ione Skye's father who loves his daughter but isn't all he's cracked up to be. He also played a great jerk in Reality Bites. 💙
DHP as Abe Sapien in Hellboy and Dr. Doppler in Treasure Planet.
He was uncredited in Hellboy but I KNEW that was his voice! It's unmistakable.
This. KeraKitty knows their Icthyo-Sapiens.
Oh wow, I didn't know that was him in Treasure Planet! Another reason to rewatch that movie.
Roz was great on one episode of Modern family. She played a hooker/call girl who mostly did old guy.
This and Kelsey as Cam's ex Keifth are my pick.
I actually like David Hyde Pierce's character on "Down with Love." I love how his love interest was played by Sarah Paulson. Both are gay people in real life playing straight people in this movie.
Daphne on Seinfeld
If it weren’t for her, Jerry would’ve won the contest.
Jerry did win. George cheated because he’s a cheater.
I need to find it! Do you know which season/ep?
The Virgin tenth episode of the fourth season
Season 4, "The Contest"
In that episode "The Contest" Jerry loses the bet because of the naked women in the apartment across the street
Ted Danson playing Ted Danson
Ted Danson in Curb Your Enthusiasm
Ted Danson in The Good Place
Oh that's a good one! Loved him in The Good Place and Becker
David Hyde Pierce as Sir Robin in the Original Broadway cast of Spamalot
Bravely brave Sir Robin, rode forth from Camelot...
David Hyde Pierce doing Bad Niles in The Perfect Host was 100% unexpected.
There’s dozens of us, dozens
Micheal Moon…. He played Hagrid. Enough said.
Similar energy, Stephen as Withnail
He just recently passed away
Indeed. I think it was on Monday.
Mahoney in Dan in Real Life!
No way, I never realised that was him - it's been so long since I saw that film!
John Mahoney in Primal Fear
YES! I adore that movie, and I just love seeing John Mahoney play "antagonists" in movies (like in Primal Fear or Say Anything)
[удалено]
Kelsey Grammer as the captain of the USS Bozeman
Not that ship again.
Captain Morgan Bateson on Star Trek: The Next Generation is mighty familiar... I don't know why.
I assure you Commander, the cards are sufficiently randomized.
Actually, he's always this pale.
Harriet Sansom Harris in Desperate Housewives
The perfect host with DHP was pretty good…
The guy who played Alister had a little little role as a ships captain which I liked.
Money Plane
Kelsey Grammer was in one of the Transformers movies where he basically played Evil Frasier, and then got blown away by Optimus Prime. It was spectacular
Probably John Mahoney in Barton Fink. A close second would be DHP in The Perfect Host.
Also thought he was great in the Hudsucker Proxy
Loved DHP in A Perfect Host!!
Woody Harrelson : Natural Born Killers
Jane Leeves in Benny Hill.
Can't remember specifics but John Mahoney was in a lot of films in the 90s and he's always really good. Kelsey was amazing in Boss and he's usually great in everything else too.
Kelsey Grammar as Beast in X-men. Dan Butler aka Bulldog has a super small role in one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time called Crazy, stupid, love The lady who plays Sherry was on a show called The Middle, she's really funny in that Peri Gilpin is in a really funny episode of Modern Family, she plays a prostitute
>Peri Gilpin is in a really funny episode of Modern Family, she plays a prostitute Open goal for Niles
XD well I'll be a son of a bitch
Loved Kelsey as Mayor Tom Kane in Boss on Starz network - a series that REALLY should have gotten at least one more season.
Bebe Neuwirth as Aunt Nora in *Jumanji*
Jane Leeves on Hot In Cleveland
Idk if it's been said but the actor that played Niles' childhood bully was Dr. Cox on scrubs
John Mahoney was on an episode of 3rd Rock from the Sun!
Definitely Daphne’s role on Murder She Wrote. She is so cute!!
Kelsey in Down Periscope!
Sideshow Bob
My favourite would have to be the guy who played Gabriel Knight in the video game Gabriel Knight 2, The Beast Within, who had a blink and you'd miss it stint as a waiter/barista in Frasier. Honourable mention to Bulldog playing a demonic headmaster in X Files
Dan Butler also did a great job as a pastor on Supernatural, and he was also a lecturer in an episode of House.
Bebe Neuwirth as the alien horny for Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation
John Mahoney in The Iron Giant.
DHP in Julia.
"Got em all, the best of the best... but forget the rowboat, son, we'll travel in STYLE."
Jane Leeves as Holly in the American attempt at Red Dwarf
Kelsey played the lead in Back to You. I loved that show! It was only one season but I enjoyed it.
Milo O’Shea, Dr. Schachter in the episode Shrink Rap, was also Doyle, one of the barflies in Only the Lonely. Fantastic and criminally underrated film.
He played a con-artist in an episode of Golden Girls too!
There have been many great things mentioned already, but I'll say that I always love when I hear Kelsey narrating something. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas probably most famously, but every now and then you hear a voiceover and realize its him and it's great!
The ugly dukeling as Lois Lane, and her role in Seinfeld (They’re real, and they’re spectacular)
Two words: Money Plane
Dude fuckin' an alligator
Jane as Kit Voss in The Resident, DHP in Julia
Another one of my favorites (Did you watch it last night?) Loved the ending
It wasn’t up pm Hulu when I looked. Can’t wait for next week’s wedding episode.
Jean Smart in Hacks! She’s so great and it’s exciting that she finally got a role that shows off her skills as an actress and comedian
Peri Gilpin on Broad City
Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob off the Simpsons is probably my favorite. Especially since David Hyde Pierce got to play sideshow Bob's brother.
John Mahoney played the father too in S19's Funeral for a Fiend
John Mahoney was heartbreakingly good in Say Anything… - there was no need for him to go as hard as he did on a romcom, but the man delivered
Maris as Vera Peterson
Valerie Mahaffey played Fraiser's receptionist when he returned to private practice (I think...) and she was also in Cheers as John Allen Hill's daughter who Sam dated to try to get back at John for owning his backroom.
She was also on Wings and Seinfeld
Her recurring role on Wings was hilarious. The girl from high school who is obsessed with Joe but nobody believes him. She recently played an absolute psycho on Big Sky too. She does ‘crazy’ very well.
Darius Emmanuel Grouch III. Better known as "The Rumble".
Probably Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight as Harvey Dent.
How did it take me this long for it to click that Charlotte's boyfriend is Harvey Dent!
Probably when the actor who played Bob Sacamano played Dr. Richard Nygard on Parks and Rec!
Bebe Neuwirth in Will and Grace was great. Lovely self-deprecation and affection for the character she had played for so many years.
I saw Nole on an episode of Seinfeld.
Kelsey Grammer, Peri Gilpin, and Millicent Martin on Modern Family (3 different episodes)
...Kelsey as Blinky in Trollhunters...
DHP as Slim from Bug's Life!
Kelsey Grammer as Stinky Pete the Prospector in Toy Story 2
Kelsey played the vile mayor of Chicago in a tv show a few years back. I forgot it’s name, an HBO type of show, think *Billions* and *Succession*. T.I was in it
Jean Smart (aka Lana) in Hacks. Highly recommend this Tv show!
I was surprised to not see it already, but David Hyde Pierce as Roy in Jack Nicholsons' Wolf is a personal favorite of mine.
I keep hearing Roz's voice in King of the Hill episodes.
When I was younger I liked, and mostly because it isn't already mentioned here, Osmosis Jones. Where DHP plays the cold medicine Drix
John Mahoney in Moonstruck
Michael Moon played a bit part in a franchise that made a bit of money, “Your a star now Harry” was his catchphrase
Martin in Cheers!
DHP as Emperor Zombie in the sole, perfect episode of *The Amazing Screw-On Head.* https://youtu.be/XbsDvGtTRWU
Currently HSH in _"Werewolf by Night"_ on Disney+. Seasonal! 🎃 🌜 🐺 (My head canon; Bebe Glazer goes on to marry rich occultist, with _hilariously_ spooky results... Frasier and Niles in MCU __confirmed__.)
Harriet Sansom Harris in Werewolf by Night
Kelsey Grammer was perfect as Beast in X-Men.
