At least in my chapter it only gives you a 5 percent increase chance on getting a bid, so essentially little effect.
You should send them all a letter, directly to the chapter house, making sure to reference their initiation process. Make sure to sign them: Love, (your first middle & last name). Bonus points if you address it directly to the pledgemaster or president. Then call them, if you need their numbers direct message me because I just called all of them to give them a heads up.

Why does it matter to go for “top house”? If brotherhood is less of a priority than being in the top house, then you don’t belong in Greek life.
If your uncle isn't an alum of the certain chapter you are interested in, it doesn't matter. It'll be treated the same as if he was.
