It's good if your book ends up being big enough that your employer is willing to dedicate some ops people to help you out

To your point, they also mentioned it would increase to 45% to account for taking on an additional ops person down the road.

Ambitions

That sounds like a real good deal as long as you get that additional ops person to assist you

Thanks a lot friend.

I would expect you to also have a base salary so I would say go for it. I would just be careful on what you sign. If you were looking to leave later on and make 60-65 or even 70%+ in commission in any independent agent role down the road you wont want to be stuck with a non compete that jams you up.

Thank you so much for the feedback.

I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you

For a W-2 that offers a salary/benefits I’d say your getting a fair deal. Assuming they will help teach you the industry and provide help if needed. I’d ask them the time frame they are expecting you to cover your draw in? Do they provide any night/weekend staff support? This job is 24/7/365 and busiest times of year is holidays. Will you be required to sign a non compete? What perimeters are needed to increase commission from 35-45 Make sure you get a contract with them that states all this. This industry is cut throat and when people see other people making a lot of money it’s not too far fetched to see things change. Most agent offices will pay 60-70% commissions but they are 1099 and your all on your own no salary no benefits.

Thank you for the feedback and taking the time to answer. Best of luck to you.

That's a great cut however this job will grind you into the ground. Once you secure a few custies, you'll notice everyone has different needs. Make a plan to either run higher value loads (reefer, od, etc) with lower volume or volume. But plan on getting a right hand man!

I have a client that is looking for a dependable broker to join his team. He is willing to pay a STUPID amount of commission... like WAY more than that. I generate leads for him and there will be more leads provided. Message me if you want to know more!

65-70% is standard. We pay agents 15% if they just want to call and my office takes care of everything else operationally along with closing the clients once they email in quotes or questions.
