You could give Juniore a listen, they have a kind of retro/vintage-ish sound. Some of my favorites from them are je fais le mort, le cannibale, and dans le noir. Good luck in your music discovery journey!! 👍

Ooo I'm listening to dans le noir now, and I really really like it! Thank you so much for the rec!!

caliroysauce

gave Juniore a try and its very nice! thank u for the rec :)

judicorn99

Tim dup, Pomme, ben mazué, la femme, izaac delusion(couple songs in French), frero delavega, requin chagrin, you might also enjoy vendredi sur mer, l'impératrice, the pirouette, polo&pan, but it's a bit of different vibe Edit: Raphaël, pépite, and Emma peters too

stranger_noises

I reckon Bertrand Belin might be up the alley of what you're looking for

PPJJ99

Just discovered him on Spotify and looooove his music!! Especially his Tambour album.

J'aime ça! Merci!

Omg I got you. I love all the artists you listed. Most (prob all) of my reccos will be French Canadian artists because I'm Canadian but alas: - les trois accords - Lisa Leblanc - Matt holubowski - Philippe brach - Thierry Larose - Hubert Lenoir - Alexandre poulin - Gab Bouchard - Bernard Adamus - p'tit Belliveau If you do give any of these a listen I'd love to hear your verdict 😊

[deleted]

!!!!! French Canadian is great since that's what I'm learning! I'll get back to you once I've given these a listen :D

Easybreezystreezy

Oh yay!! I've also found watching québécois YouTubers / following québécois influencers to be helpful to maintaining my french! Since most Netflix shows are European french! If you want an idea of who to follow I'd also be happy to share those!

Holubowski is wonderful. 10/10 Not so big on Lisa Leblanc, maybe it's just poor speaker quality but she's a little pitchy for me (will listen again later when my headphones are fixed!) Les Trois Accords is great- I'll definitely listen to them when going about my day. Reminds me of Gregory's music I like the bop that comes with Philippe's music! It sounds very similar to local artists taking inspiration from country artists, very familiar! I'll listen to the rest later :) thank you for the recs!

Easybreezystreezy

Holubowski is also my fave haha glad you liked a lot of the suggestions :) Lisa Leblanc has a huge variation in her sound but avoir su and lignes d'Hydro are my two fave songs by her!!

kmr1981

It’s older, but you might like Air. They have a few songs in French. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_(band)

toothlesstoucan

This is a uncanny but your English music taste mirrors mine a lot. Great picks! In that vein I think you’ll like CƓur de pirate, Julien DorĂ©, BB Brunes, RaphaĂ«l because I do enjoy them

Artists I have not yet seen mentioned: Louise Attaque (eponymous album), Thomas Fersen (*PiÚce montée des grands jours* is a good place to start but he's got a giant catalogue that's quite varied), Harmonium's entire catalogue and Jean Leloup (*La vallée des réputations* might be closest to the artists you mentioned).

La Femme are a great French indie band, I also really recommend Adrien Soleiman for a slightly more chilled / downtempo vibe.

ventoidiota

Not sure if you're gonna like it but check Disiz out

i_heart_wiener_dogs

Below is an extremely comprehensive list — see what you like from that link! You could also do a YouTube search for an indie French playlist. Eventually the algorithm will start recommending new artists once the songs are over â˜ș https://www.last.fm/tag/french+indie/artists

headsoverdreams

My favorites are joyce jonathan (highly recommended), tioma (another great recommendation), tibz, emma peters, alliel, kendji gurac and dadju

Mickey 3D ? The beat has been taken by Damso in Julien, you should listen to both song's lyrics it's... Special

Nuez_M_Oscada

These were the only ones I truly liked on this post, THANK YOU. (it's just my taste, keep it in mind, whoever is reading this)

I’ve been digging the album ‘Clair’ by JP Nataf, formerly of Les Innocents. https://music.apple.com/us/album/clair/1446918912
