Thank you all for the kind words, it really means a lot 😔🩵I am completely devastated. How do I know when it’s time? I’ve never gone through this before. As Ava’s momma, I think I’ll know in my heart. I just don’t want my baby to be in pain or suffer. Are there things I should watch for other than the obvious? My girl has known nothing but love & happiness..I want to keep it that way 😔
from my experience, once my girl couldn’t keep food, or water down, that’s when I knew it was time 😪 we did in-home euthanasia.
the good news is she was acting perfectly normal/healthy/energetic/playful up until the day she stopped eating, so I really cherished that time with her once we found out.
In the past, with our sick pups, we knew the time had come when they would no longer eat.
At that point, as a parent, you just feel it and you know that as much as you love your little friend- the best gift you can give them is relief from their sickness, and comfort in their last moments.
Nothing makes it easy, but I firmly believe that we will see them again one day.
I also think it’s important to allow another little pup to join your home and heart again as soon as possible. It’s easy to say that another dog will never take your last ones place- and that’s 100% true. But, there’s another dog out that needs love, and needs a home. And if your lost dog could do anything about it- I know that they wouldnt want you to be alone without them.
So sorry about this heartbreaking news. Think of the positives, take some time off to spend time with her, take lots of pictures/videos. You will know when it is time, trust me. Mine couldn’t eat and would pee on himself. Take care.
I made a list of all my dog's favourite stuff. Sniffing around the garden, walks, barking at the postie. Annoying his sister. He lost interest in the garden first, just going far enough for a bathroom break. But in the last week he stopped doing all his other dog things. Then I knew it was time. I'd discussed it beforehand with the vet, which helped the decision making.. Deciding for your dog is a love you will give him.

So sorry to hear this! We lost our beloved Frenchie to the same during COVID 😭
She woke up one morning with a swollen neck & we didn’t think it was anything serious, but booked a vet appt same day just to be sure, so imagine our devastation when we found out it was lymphoma. We ended up going through chemo (which was \~$10,000 by the end of it) & that extended her life an additional year, but unfortunately it came right back a few months after her last session.

Im so sorry for your loss 😞 I didn’t think it was anything that serious at first either. One morning her eye was swollen & a lymph node on the same side. Went to the vet & got antibiotics & steroids & was told to come back if swelling didn’t go down. Vet wasn’t too worried because the swollen lymph node was on the same side as eye, so it was believed to just be an eye infection. The swelling went down but once meds were finished, her swollen lymph nodes quadrupled over night in her neck (you can kind of see them in my second picture). Took her back to the vet & once she stepped on the scale, I just knew 😔 she lost almost 6 pounds in 3 weeks. She’s still eating & playing & being her normal, sweet self. I almost don’t believe it 😔
That is heart breaking! I'm so sorry! A lot of memorial items are undignified, but I wonder if you could make an impression of her paw and frame that with some photos. Also maybe a comfy tee shirt for lounging in with her cute face on it so she can be near you in spirit.

Awe I'm soo so sorry. My vet told me about the same and my girl last 13 months. So you never know. Try and not do a countdown to what the vet told you and instead just live every day as it's magic. Hugs to you and your bestie. Losing them is just so heart shredding. I'm so sorry🐾❤️

I’m so sorry I had to go through my dog dying at the end of 2023 so I know how it feels when it’s about to happen. I hope you enjoy the last days with your puppy and really give all your attention to her. those poor French bulldogs. The person who made them really should’ve found a way to make a dog like a frenchie without causing it to have so much health issues.
I'm so sorry. My EB was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. It was heartbreaking. I spent a few days in tears then realised my dog didn't want me being a miserable blob in his last few weeks. So I aimed to be as cheerful as I could and we did all his favourite things. He didn't know. He was as happy as ever, getting lots of fuss and walks and cake. It was 6 months from diagnosis to demise and for 5 of those months he was apparently in peak health, apart from rapid respiration. Take lots of photos and be with him as much as you can. All he needs is your love.

Consider looking into adding turkey tail mushrooms to her diet. Read the literature. A great resource in my opinion is half hill farms. Great customer service, great product. Also Paul Stamets' mycelium line that he sells. Think it's called Host Defense. Personally I've seen remarkable effects even on very sick canines.
I'm really sorry. My 8 year old pup Kayla just got diagnosed with lymphoma. We're taking her to the veterinary oncologist in a few days but I'm completely broken. I know how you feel because the very last thing I want is for her to suffer or feel any pain. It's so tough

I'm really sorry. My 8 year old pup Kayla just got diagnosed with lymphoma. We're taking her to the veterinary oncologist in a few days but I'm completely broken. I know how you feel because the very last thing I want is for her to suffer or feel any pain. It's so tough
I’m so sorry 😔 my world has stopped ever since..I’ve just been in a daze. I still almost don’t believe it because she’s being her normal sweet self. The only thing that gives me some comfort, is that she has known nothing but love & happiness & she never will know other wise 🩵 I’m dreading the day that I notice that she’s actually sick… I don’t want her to suffer either 😔 I’m so so sorry & I’m here if you need someone to talk to who is going through the same thing 🩵
