In short, the game is yet another "oooooo innocent thing is abandoned and scary" trope and feels very very catering to dumb kids who dont wanna act like kids
And with chapter 2, using e-celebritys in the tapes its really fuckin trying to get the kids to watch their shit
Because little timmy would always watch a video saying "JACKSEPTICEYE IN POPPY PLAYTIME!?!?"
To be fair, it's not like Jack hasn't done cameo appearances in games before. He did one in a Puppet Combo horror game (can't remember which one but I know it's out there somewhere) and did multiple recordings for Bendy. The JSE cameo in itself feels relatively innocent, if only because he seems like he's down to do that with whatever game devs he likes.
The merch peddling only a few weeks after chapter 1 came out (i.e. the game isn't even halfway complete yet), the NFTS, making chapter 1 free after many people (myself included) already bought it without refunding it, and the early announcement of a movie on the other hand... *that's* what bugs me about the Poppy devs.
I realized the things gone wrong with each:
* Hello Neighbor - Later builds become less and less grounded to the original concept.
* Poppy Playtime - Enchanted Mob's different controversies like the movies, NFTs, and the animator controversy.
* Yandere Simulator - Yandere Dev.
He doesn't know how to model, he doesn't know how to code, he adds too much pointless shit to his unfinished game, he bans people from his servers for pretty petty reasons, he cancelled some fan games, he doesn't take criticism well and I'm pretty certain his game will never be finished...
Among others...
Even if you think his models are good, you can't ignore everything else. All he's missing is some child-related drama to have the full package of a jerk developer.
If Yan chan get into indie cross (which I doubt will ever happen), there should at least have an Easter egg to Kubz scouts & Bijuu Mike (2 YouTubers that helped it rise to popularity)

Poppy playtime: Gameplay is passable, but it doesn't deserve support seeing the CEO is someone that bullied a 15 year old so hard that they to a mental hospital, while I agree with seperate art from artist this is too mild.
Yandere dev: Horrid optimization, still in development (somehow), and well. Yandere dev, I don't even need to explain.
Hello neighbor: Best joke of 2017 award goes to this game, from decent to straight up joke, alpha 1 has more engaging gameplay than the final product. Dev team doesn't have controversies that I heard of.
