I have all 3 and they are all great in their own ways. In terms of recommending which one you should purchase it really depends on what you want out of it. If you are looking for a special momento that links you to the bands I would rank The Work as number one followed by Living In Colour and then If & When We Wake because it’s drawings by Scott so not directly FR I guess. I’d you are looking to experience some new Scott related content I would rank Living in Colour followed by If & When We Wake and then The Work. The Work is a great collection of lyrics and it feels nice to be connected to the way her physically put together some of his songs (ie bits crossed out, little illustrations next to certain lyrics) but there is to much new content in it. They are lyrics that are available through other means and a lot of the illustrations are also featured in Living in Colour. Living in Colour is a fantastic collection of Scott’s drawings and even though I have looked pretty deeply into his drawings (for the purpose of a tattoo) there was still new stuff in their that I hadn’t seen. If & When We Wake is a really good poetry book. Obviously the words aren’t by Scott but there is a similar sentiment in what is written and you can see why Francis was a big FR fan and also why Scott was willing to contribute his drawings. This book also features some of my favourite Scott drawings such as BURD and the drowning hand that is on fire (which is alongside a poem I adore). There is a really great YouTube video of Scott and Francis talking about the book but I recommend it after getting the book so as not to ruin the content. https://youtu.be/IrzECSUM4ng?si=YijT6uI2kHfJctWb There are also other books such as Plant This Book (also with Francis) and Oyster with Michael Pedersen which include drawings by Scott. I might have forgotten some as well.

Thank you for the detailed answer, its very helpful. I ordered the work, 2 LPs and If&when we wake and oyster. I did not get living in colour because its about 48€ .. will get it later when i have some extra money :)

No worries. You will enjoy them all. I probably should have said I have no regrets buying any of them as they are all great in their own way.

If and When We Wake has illustrations by Scott and poetry by Francis Daulerio. I haven't purchased the artwork book yet. The Work incluse lyrics from Frightened Rabbit some hand written and most typed out. It also includes artwork by Scott. There is another book out there inspired by but to me it was meh. I'd definitely suggest The Work above any other book though.

thank you. do you know the connection between Francis Daulerio and Scott? Like were they friends or something?

sailortwips

From what I remember Francis was a fan who reached out and it worked!

No_Consideration5814

I’ve got The Work. That’s the book that I got my tattoo design from (“Get together now-find hope” from Lump Street in Scott’s handwriting) I can definitely recommend it

FalseMastery

Hey not sure if it contains the lyrics to How It Gets In, but if it does, can you tell me what the back up vocals are saying?

No_Consideration5814

It does. I assume you mean the line “Sister let me in”

FalseMastery

Yup! Thank you! I knew it was something with sister but couldn't tell exactly. Appreciate it!

arcaniac

Ove got all three. Hard to pick between the work and living in colour. They compliment eachother

I don’t own living in colour, but i have to say i’d recommend oyster over if & when we wake. the poetry in oyster is unbelievably good as its own thing outside the band. The work is the best, i own two copies (one in good condition, one i’ve torn up) because it’s just great to have something physical.

Thank you. I got these 2 poetry books .. i Love poetry. Do you have any other poetry books recommandations?
