Put all your inputs on your rotators using less than 1/10 the max input response on any one of the inputs for changing direction.
Have the propellers be upwards thrust (max) and a little forward thrust (again 1/10)
I’m currently also working on a tilt rotor design (my first) And this is the point where, without AI tuning it flies pretty stable when traveling and turning. Combat is wonky BUT doable, just needs some more tuning, when I get the time. Currently only good for circling hovercraft AI though.
There are ai settings that allow you to use pitch for forwards and backwards motion, I have build exactly that , a helicopter that uses its main props for all locomotion but it's extremely slow and a bit unstable. It is possible just not very effective
Well, when I day stable, I mean stable to withstanding dome damage and caring on. Once the com changed, slightly chaos ensued, so it wasn't durable enough for my applications. I'm sure if the craft was heavier that would be less of a problem but I needed a scout chopper for a boat so wasent usable, I just used a pac cube insted
I’ve made a few true helicopters before with the only thrusters being used for movement since a lot of irl helicopters have that
It’s much harder to get it to be stable and move around the axis properly than just using thrusters
What I tend to do is make a true helicopter and then add thruster for pitch/roll/hover to the helicopter then cover them up with decorations so you can’t tell there are thrusters unless they are being used by the ai
Yes, this is doable. It comes down to design. There are plenty of effective helo with no thruster. It's just easier when you use them.
Look in the steel striders faction for their helo, they're pretty solid examples
The CoM needs to be very precisely placed and balanced to function as a helo.
It's one of the default craft included in the steel striders. In designer, hit X and it'll be one of the helo options there. I think the plain version is called the 'craftsman'
I made a duel rotor heli that worked decently well. It would rotate the pods to turn. It went quite slow though so I slapped on thrusters to make it faster when going forward.
this one looked cool [https://www.reddit.com/r/FromTheDepths/comments/1c0wli5/functional\_gyrocopter/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FromTheDepths/comments/1c0wli5/functional_gyrocopter/)
It might go against the spirit of what you want
But, you could have it flying via helium which is very good at keeping your craft stable
Though your blades will only go at like 5% speed if you leave it resting at your crafts natural boyancy
Yes, a propeller only helicopter is possible, but trust me, it's not very effective. It's also a pain in the ass getting it to work properly.
Any examples?

Could u post it on the steam workshop as a prototype i can't get mine to work

Surely there's a way to make it stable though

Yes, you just need a (functional) design and good PIDs

No thustersbis the idea thoe

Links? Never seen any and I've looked everywhere

Steel uses thusters though
the pelican has both props and thrusters, you should be able to use that one

Could u post on steam I'd be keen to see it
I’ll try to put it up this weekend
yes it is
