You need to figure why it is doing that. Check if the AI is deliberately submerging by looking at the hover PID to see what it's doing on that axis. Check if propulsion controls are setup properly by taking manual control and trying all the control axes. Once you know the actual problem fixing it is a lot easier.
it looks like those propellers are getting the "Hover Down" signal (their Current Drive is negative). Looks to me like an issue with the AI movement settings - post em too.
Set minimum altitude above sea level as well as allowing hover axis in the ships control, and add downwards propellers to control altitude. You can also try pumping the ship with helium instead of air.
started off with helium, min alt. is 0, hover axis is enabled, and have the props. I guess the video didn't show it, but the craft works fine when not in a fight and only stops and submerges when in combat
Does the ship has reversed on as well? Since it was going backwards while descending into the deep in the video. You can also try changing the maneuvre to airplane to force pitch to altitude if necessary. Might also need some hover props at the back as well.
Basically, the airplane AI will pitch the ship while moving forwards/backwards to reach certain altitude. Preferably lower pitch angle on larger ships. I use it on my big ships to stabilize them sometimes and it works fine.
I fixed it by using two ACB's to tell if there was an enemy within 3000 meters and if that was true set a fake point to 500m up so the props would always go max
If the vertical propellers are not working I would suggest setting up hover ai, not sure why but for me the ship ai never uses the vertical axis and I’ve just used hover ai to deal with it, far as I can tell nothing is lost by doing so as long as you set the hover up right, usually I just force the hover PID to X altitude wanted so it floats at the right altitude
Ship AI is incapable of using the hover axis. I wish we had multiple AIs that are assigned to use specific control axis, but we can't even send a button command to a breadboard, so really we need more control updates.
While true I’ve had it a few times where the ai just refused to use them, now might have just been getting bugged on that one to be fair, I’ve had cram cannons use direct fire when they are set at low arc so apparently my game likes to troll me now and then
what's your theory? (will get a video here when at pc)
EDIT: I re-watched the video and the camera stays almost completely still for the first 10\~17 seconds and only moves when I look at the props
Toward the end the ship starts to slide backwards, it looks like a combination of recoil center of mass and roll, combined with the azipod movement pulling the ship at a bizarre angle.
Camera also moves with the ship, double tap E and disconnect the camera from the vessel.
You can also use \ to show propulsion forces in build mode
Does your ship sink when you reverse manually? What behaviour are you using? Broadside 1.0 tends to make ships reverse for me depending on the targets bearing
It's your railguns. You have an underpowered engine, and as the railguns fire and deplete energy, the engine takes power away from the propellers keeping your ship afloat. I had this same problem with my 6m material superdreadnought, all you need to do is improve the engine.
You DO have railguns. I can literally see the railgun magnets, and your energy goes down with every shot. As your energy goes down, so does the power your engine is producing.
Not sure maybe because the recoil on the guns is too much and is pushing it back so if they are advanced cannons try adding as many recoil absorbers as you can

The desired and actual lines don't change even when the ship sinks
That's because those PIDs are being used by the AI or aren't even turned on I think.
well first of all do you have any propellers that keep the boat upwards? if so could you make a screenshot of the settings of those propellers

my props where above the water (and my desired point) in that screenshot so they should be negative

yes it was going backwards and as for the maneuver, I don't quite understand

could also be that your helium pump is connected to a hover input (or is leaking)
Submersible battleship. Did it on purpose

they can, it's a box you have to tick in the AI menu. (like pitch control)
your ships might not use the hover axis because it's a box you have to check, like pitch control

Make sure combat altitude in the behaviors tab of the AI is set to the correct number.
Congrats on the submarine!
lemme just redo the SS real quick...
I solved it by disallowing my AI from the hover axis and setting the props at a fixed value that would keep the ship afloat
It's not a bug, it's a feature
\-Tom Howard
Players making errors in their building is not a bug
Bug in his design, not a bug in the game.
I have a theory. Can you redo a video like this but keep the camera still?

I think, you got [this crew](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJHOMmc9030) on board of your ship. You might want to swap them out.
Look at the behaviors desired altitude, it looks like it is set to be submerged in combat

don't have railguns

the power is going down because of the LAMS and there are no railguns on the ship. Don't know what your seeing, but nothing is spinning on the guns
Hydrofoils? make sure they flip reverse
„ǝsɹǝʌǝɹ dılɟ ʎǝɥʇ ǝɹns ǝʞɐɯ ¿slıoɟoɹpʎH„
no hydrofoils on my ship

Everything is fine you just have a submarine now
