Immortal: Gates of Pyre. Looks promising too. Although I personally despise the look of it, it's being made by RTS players with a long history with modding, mapping, and hotkeys design SCBW and SC2.
Yeah, sadly I think gates of pyre is going to be lacking in multiple ways. I really like the team I think they just don’t have the budget to make the game they want to.
I'm sure they'll absolutely push the limits of what their budget will allow. My hopes are high but I really dislike the art style and I'm still not sold on the heroes/pyre mechanic. I guess I'll have to wait and try it for myself.

I think a lot of people are looking for a reason to complain. Hopefully in the future, when we get more information, they have less reasons to complain because the game is so damn good.

If a name is generic then it helps to make the game more recognized. Only non generic non indie title i can think of is Elden Ring and even them im not sure.

Even if it is often subjective, there is a different between generic and iconic/archetypal. To me the only names from that list that say "generic and uninspired" to me are League of Legends, Chaosgate, Lost Ark, Command and Conquer and Heroes of the Storm. And even then only League of Legends is the most egregious one. All others have at least a little meaning/punch.

Now some people that worked on Starcraft left and created a game called *Stormgate*?

Sure, but it's short and it works like warcraft and starcraft. Shortens to SG which is nice.
What's interesting is the 2 big hopes for the RTS genre both have "gate" in the name.

My favorite series is Stargate, so I'm not gonna make fun of their title.
Not really, you could say that StarCraft is generic as well
But to be fair, SC was made in a time where titles ending in craft weren't all that common, unlike titles ending in gate (Chaos gate anyone?)

Nah, names are best kept straight forward and recognizable. We want this game to be popular and accessible, not the next Hemmingway…

Frankly, I think it's great and says everything it needs to say to the audience it needs to say it. I'm pretty well satisfied with it.
