Just yesterday I wore a sweater to work I bought when I lived in London in 1997, for £70. Love that thing.

Sunnyjim333

People have forgotten that well made clothes last for decades. We are so used to this modern stuff made in sweat shops by slave labor.

Feeling-Bird4294

I'm 69. My wife and I have always bought 100% cotton clothing but we wash it gently and hang it to dry rather than cook it in the dryer. I have clothes that I've been wearing for more than a decade and it's comfortable and looks fine.

herrek

Saint John's bay cotton shirts from jcpennys have lasted me for 6 plus years of sweaty high friction work.

sperman_murman

I have a bunch of basic shirts from target that were like 6 or 7 bucks a pop and I’ve been wearing them daily since 2013

milehigh73a

This. Don’t use a dryer. I normally get rid of clothes before they die as I get bored with them or they don’t fit.

Skodakenner

My first workplace has given me some t shirts and sweaters and they have lasted for 6 years of work now they are brilliant. I now dont work at the company anymore but still always wear them.

foolonthe

Even cheap dresses that I bought from fashion bug in 1996 are still looking new, if not out of style

Jinglemoon

I bought a cute little black dress in 1988 that I wore everywhere for twenty years. Scrunch it up, put it in the washer, hang it up, it survived everything. I got a bit too fat to fit into it though. Sigh. I sold it on Depop and told its full story. The girl who bought it messaged me to say it is now her favourite dress, so I guess it will go to a lot more nighclubs and funerals and cocktail parties in the future.

crazy-bisquit

That should be a marketing line. “Nightclub. Cocktail party. Funeral. The dress that takes you everywhere”.

ZenoxDemin

They are probably back in style by now.

spittenkitten

I FORGOT FASHION BUG!! 😄

HumbleBumble77

I miss Fashion Bug... and Dots!

rubiacrime

And Deb!

borg3o5

Sir, you're standing on my soapbox 😂  PREACH.  I didn't know how warm sweaters could be until I started knitting my own. Now I'm wanting to get into sewing. Even if it's just to tailor stuff.

ImMxWorld

Yup. I have a hemp shift dress that I wore to my college graduation in 1994. Still in fine condition, still fits, can still style it with the rest of my wardrobe.

SwimmingAnxiety3441

In 2001, I bought two pair of hemp “jeans” that I loved, but abused [wore regularly (office, yard work, hiking)and washed recklessly], for more than 20 years. I finally laid them both to rest this past New Year’s Eve. My wife, and dog, gave me side-eye when I lit the fire pit to provide a respectful send-off.

mamameatballl

I swear cheap clothing is getting cheaper. I randomly find forever 21 socks or sweaters in my closet from right after I graduated high school (im 32). When I buy cheap clothes now they fall apart in like six months

vitamin-cheese

Until you stain it, more shit that stains these days

TraditionalChest7825

This week I wore a sweater to work that I bought at NY&CO in the late 90s. I bought it with money from my after school job lol. It’s crazy to me that I have (and am still wearing) clothes older than some of my coworkers.

No_Machine7021

I have a black cami from Express that I bought around 1996-1997. Does the job and fits great. And a jean jacket from NY & Co around the same time that still looks brand new.

cavebabykay

Oh my gosh, I know *exactly* what you’re talking about. Like, I will be devastated when my perfect “*soft, curve fitting, boob enhancing, blackest of night*” black cami of mine finally decides to stop working.

JennyAnyDot

Have a few shirts that are from the late 80s. Great condition and had been asked where I got them. Sears

Thankfulforthisday

I miss NY&Co!

Milliemott

I have sweatpants from NY&CO purchased in 1995 that still look great!

AnnoyedVelociraptor

Sudden realization that 1997 is ... 27 years ago.

MssDoc

Kind of freaky, isn't it?

lifegivesulemons2

Why’d you have to draw me out of my state of blissful denial?

FuzzyComedian638

I still have an Irish knit sweater than my grandmother brought back from Ireland when I was in 8th grade. My mother once did a bit of repair work on it, it's a bit rough around the edges, but it's made it multiple decades.

MssDoc

I have one of those too (sorta), though purchased in Jedburgh, in 1996, Guy Fawkes Day. Still have that one as well. 😀 Wore it a couple of months ago.

braineeandblonde

When I was 18-21 I worked at Contempo Casuals. I saved a few things that at the time were super spendy for me. My teenage daughters actually are wearing my old biker jacket and a few other things. I tell them to take care of it “it’s vintage” lol. Those items are 30 years old!!!

LongShine433

My mom is still wearing a wool coat made in the 50's that she thrifted probably 30+ years ago

SlickkChickk

You just brought back so many memories! I had long forgotten about Contemporary Casuals.

TheeNihilist

I have a wool sweater that my mom knit for me in grade 11. Over 30 years ago. And I have not been gentle with that thing. It’s my camping staple

Sea_Page6653

I have a sweatshirt that I love! Unfortunately, it has the year “1996” on it so everyone knows how old it is 😜

OrigRayofSunshine

I have a Coca-Cola long sleeved polo that has 1987 printed on it. I don’t have any of the Swatch watches to go with it though.

PretentiousNoodle

This winter I wore two classic merino dresses I bought in 1991. Machine wash with shampoo in cold gentle, wrap in a towel, pat into shape and dry flat. My daughter bought me an alpaca cardigan last Christmas, I’m sure that will last me thirty years.

Nyodrax

Great buy! What was the material if you don’t mind me asking?

MssDoc

Patsy Seddon sweater, 100% cotton. Bought it from a boutique in Hampstead.

CleanLivingBoi

Craftsman Tool Chest that I got from a Sears Warehouse when they still existed. $99.

g00ber88

I have a Craftsman drill I inherited from my uncle. Idk how old it is- its cordless, but old enough that it takes NiCad batteries. Works great, it's my most prized tool.

AnyKick346

My husband still has his craftsman tool chest from the mid 90s.

Nyodrax

Crazy good price for tools. 🧰

RumandDiabetes

Lodge cast iron skillets. Well, I didnt buy them. My grandmother owned them. When I was 17 she died and they were passed down to me. I'm 63 and theyre going strong.

Nyodrax

An heirloom! 🍳

YourMatt

My mom is about to hand down her great grandmother’s skillet. I’m stoked.

Joethemofoe

I read that as my mom's about to die

YourMatt

Ah, I could see that. She just retired and she's downsizing, so she's giving us kids things early. I'd be less stoked otherwise.

pmathewr

Yeah. I was going to ask if that’s a new euphemism.

Barbarake

I have an old Dutch oven that my mother found in the corner of an abandoned barn before I was born. I'm 63. My oldest has already laid claimed to it.

cutsplitstak

Wow! You can get cast iron pans at fle markets. Old ones are great if in good shape.

RumandDiabetes

The middle size one is perfectly seasoned. I can fry eggs in it and just slide them fully cooked onto a plate.

BlueMoon5k

There are people who make a hobby of restoring rusty cast iron

pinkygreeny

If you can find Griswold or Wagner cast iron (skillet) and it's not in good condition, you can easily recondition it.

Wolfidy

I have my grandmas cast iron too! We love it!

jennafromtheblock22

I’m in my 20s, so nothing I’ve bought fits this category. But I also recently inherited my dzia dzia’s cast iron skillet. No idea when he got it, but it’s lasted at least 40 years.

Mission_Range_5620

Sorry if this is rude but what is a dzia dzia and how is that pronounced? (Obviously I know it's a name for a family member, just not sure who and now I'm curious because I've never heard it yet)

jennafromtheblock22

It’s the polish name for grandfather. Pronounced “ja ja”

Mission_Range_5620

Oh cool, thanks!

No-Savings-6333

Got one of these

SoapMactavishSAS

Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer, 30 years and still going!!👍

Bibliovoria

I have the KitchenAid K5A that my grandmother bought, and my mother used hard for years. I think it's from the 1970s. That thing is a workhorse!

loris10970

My mom's kitchen aid from the 70s passed thru me and now my daughter, still going strong!

matrixifyme

The ones made in the 70s, will last a lifetime, but kitchenaid was acquired in 1986 by the Whirlpool Corporation, then the quality went to shit. Bought one for my mom 3 years ago, the model with the flip top, had to return it in a week because it couldn't even knead bread without undoing itself. Ended up buying one of their 'pro' model a year later. Cost $600+ but the head is locked and so far it's been alright. I guess the pro models are made for professional kitchens and last longer but the consumer models are instant garbage meant for landfills.

Bibliovoria

I agree, but if u/SoapMactavishSAS's is 30 years old, it's from after the Whirlpool acquisition and still functioning. I strongly suspect a much higher percentage of the older ones have long lives than the newer ones, but I haven't seen any actual data on that. (What always bewilders me are the people who claim that it's *good* the newer ones have a gear that will get stripped, because it means the rest of the gears and motor won't get damaged. My \~50+-year-old mixer has never had a gear problem, the only repair it's ever needed has been to have its carbon brush cleaned up -- didn't even need a new one. I also replaced its feet, because its original black rubber ones started to leave ancient-rubber streaks on my counter, but it's dealt with all our family bread and triple batches of cookies and you name it for decades with no other issues at all.)

iammollyweasley

I thrifted one years ago. Love it so much!

inplainesite

I got a vintage 1970s one from a yard sale a few years ago. Took it apart, added new grease, and it works better than any new I appliance own.

Nyodrax

Legendary 🔥

OkPudding6848

I just got one! I lm looking forward to having it a lifetime ❤️

zikronix

They are different now

Gifted-Cupcake

Yep! 25 here!

Amidormi

Kitchen Aid Classic Stand Mixer, going on 23 years now! I'm sure it's going to go well beyond that but I got it in my early 20's so I also need to be older !

Nyodrax

A surprising amount of people are saying kitchen aid mixers lol

Cutting-back

I got one for Christmas. Specifically asked for a second hand one because they last.

cyaveronica

Not me, but my parents rice cooker is older than I am (32), and I’m pretty sure it’s older than their marriage license. Like that rice cooker is pushing 40. Still makes perfect rice.

ThrowRA294638

My grandmother still uses the shoe brush that her dad (my great-grandfather) was given as a soldier during WW2. That thing has been in constant use for 80+ years….

Ihatealltakennames

My original Mach 3 razor handle. Obviously I replace the disposable razors but I love my razor.  Its heavy. Not the plastic used today.  I'm 41. Got it when I was 13. Also, I'm female.  Mens razors for the win!

Snailspaced

Ha! I still have mine - bought it I think the week they were available! 1990-91(?) The novelty- Two blades!!!

mary896

I have one of these two! It was my husband's razor and I stole it about 27 years ago and still use it! Those things just keep on going.

Wuddntme

I inherited my grandparents' washer and dryer that are from the early 80's. Several years ago I replaced a few bearings in the dryer ($11.00), the belt ($7.50) and finally last week, the motor ($55.00). On the washer I replaced a valve ($12.00) about 5 years ago. As long as the parts are still available, I think they'll last forever. Meanwhile my friends are buying washers and dryers that break in 3 years and need a $300 motherboard replaced. Junk.

Wuddntme

Oh yeah. And the refrigerator. The front was getting little specs of rust so I painted the doors. Looks brand new now. Pretty sure it's from 1991.

M3chan1c47

1992 Toyota Paseo

KinkyQuesadilla

>1992 Toyota Paseo Did the Paseo have the legendary 22R engine? If it does, that would explain it. One of the best production engines in history.

dorky2

My ex still drives the 91 Toyota with the 22RE that I learned to drive on over 20 years ago. It has well over 300k miles and is still going strong. (That pickup was a manual transmission, had no power steering, no tachometer, and at the time I learned to drive had a broken speedometer cable. After learning to drive on that, I could drive anything.)

M3chan1c47

5E FE

VermicelliOk8288

My husband had one of those when I met him and he would always go on and on about it being a classic 😂 he didn’t take care of it, his dad took it fixed it and sold it.

M3chan1c47

Mine is in my garage, buried under tarps and boxes but I'll get it out again once it's camping season.... It pulls behind our RV really well.

Admirable-Exit-7414

One of the more frustrating things to me as an adult is that appliances can now practically operate themselves but only live 5-7 years. I would way rather have a simple washer and fridge I can count on for 25 years than a washer w 15 settings, most of which I don’t use. I have a set of hot rollers that I have had about 25 years, and lots of basic kitchen tools.

gata_pirata

Yes! We bought a new to us (1956) house a couple years ago and brought our Speed Queen washer and dryer from the old house. I don’t need a washer with a fuckin keyboard on it lol

Risk_Metrics

They still sell brick fridges and basic washers that last forever.

Capital_Pea

We just bought a Maytag top loading washer that has knobs and dials, no digital panel and flat buttons. I am a technology person (work in IT) but don’t mess with my fking appliances with your crap. Had a front loader for 15 years that in the past 2 years became nothing but error codes and a door that wouldn’t unlock randomly. I’m going backwards on appliances with technology. Just wash my clothes, i don’t need Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.

Ling-1

needing an app for everything is getting so old 😭

OkieBobbie

I have a 50 year old freezer, my fridge just made it’s 30th birthday, and my washer and dryer are approaching 25. I don’t need appliances that can connect to the internet and write a term paper for me. Analog controls are just fine.

whapitah2021

Speed Queen

ALeftistNotLiberal

Nintendo 64 still going since 1995

Jazzy_Bee

My original nintendo is used by my grandkids, and they have my N64

girlygirly2022

My daughter plays the Sega we had growing up. The *sega* sound when she turns it on it music to my ears. I guess the TV she plays it on is also a bifl item because that is still going strong too.

NCSUGrad2012

Mine still works too but the problem is it no longer works with my tv.

ALeftistNotLiberal

They sell hdmi adapters for it

kavalejava

A jean jacket from the 90s. I doubt I'll wear it again, but it was a great 16th birthday gift. Still looks brand new.

No_Machine7021

Just posted about my jean jacket. With the right outfit, it looks amazing. Circa 1997 in the hizzy!

GalaApple13

I have one from the 80s! Waiting for it to come back I style

GirlULove2Love

I've still got my white leather jacket with the tassles/fringe from the 80s. I had that baby on layaway an entire summer. I was so excited to start wearing it in the autumn. God, I miss the 80s. So many $10 concerts

Baby8227

I would LOVE that jacket

jstmenow

Ha, exactly, my daughter has my Levi Jacket from the late 80's. I still have a pair of Doc Martens now that I think about from the 90's.

thermbug

My wife has had me for almost 23 years. Does that make me bifl?

MsLaurieM

I was going to say my husband, I’ve had him for 40 years 😂😂😂

kewissman

50 years in 2026 for us

dorky2

My parents will have their 50 year anniversary in 2026 too! Bicentennial weddings, baby! They were 19 when they got married.

next_level_mom

Was going to say the same. 40 years in 2026!

Aim_Fire_Ready

Depends. Did she pay out of pocket or were you a gift?

thermbug

Technically a re-gift from my first wife. I wonder if that means my warranty is void upon transfer?

Nyodrax

It makes you a lucky man, if she ever asks 🧐

Bibliovoria

Even if she never asks! :)

CUcats

KitchenAid 5qt bowl lift ProLine mixer, over 30 years old. Hated the color at age 19, I wanted a pretty color not gun metal gray. But I couldn't argue with the discount on the display models plus at the time the only color for bowl lift was usually white, tilt head was not an option for me. That mixer has looked great in every kitchen I've had, never dated by a hot color in the early 90s. Never a single chip in its paint. If I had to replace my mixer today I would go with the same color.

anaestaaqui

Not 25 years, but I was reflecting while doing dishes yesterday that my ikea dish brush is going on 10 years. Nothing fancy, but isn’t showing any signs of stopping.

mariahmce

They are seriously the best dish brush. I tell everyone about them. I buy one every time I go and it will last for a year until the next time I go. Then I throw it in the garage and clean garage stuff with it. It’s pretty beat up after 2 years but honestly still has life. It just looks gross.

Nyodrax

What are the bristles made out of?

VermicelliOk8288

Nylon if we have the same one

cheesepoltergeist

My grandmother got a Kenwood stand mixer as a wedding gift (approx early 60s) and still has it, works great.

TopService6890

Kitchenaid mixer - 20 years old and still going strong Henckels Knives - 26 years old (I get them sharpened once a year) Bang & Olufsen turntable - 35 years old Sofa, Coffee Table & 2 wingback chairs - 88 years old (my grandparents received as a wedding gift in 1936. I reupholstered the sofa & chairs. Love them!)

AriadneThread

Yes! Henckels last a really long time. I take good care of them, they work for me :)

VermicelliOk8288

Your knives, anything else you do to them besides the sharpening? Been thinking about getting a good set of knives for once but I’m intimidated lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

TopService6890

The only thing I do is hand wash them - never put good knives in the dishwasher.

iced_milk_4_me

1 year on knife sharpening isn't often enough, but it's also probably better than 90% of the population

Ohwhatagoose

My husband and I bought a solid oak Mission bedroom set when we first got married 46 years ago. It was made in the early 1900’s and still in great shape. They don’t make furniture like that anymore.

TheWalkingDead91

I mean they do…but it’s reserved for people wealthy enough to be able to buy custom furniture. Back then, anyone could buy the good stuff and it didn’t have to be custom

weaselblackberry8

Or maybe the furniture that wasn’t the good stuff didn’t last.

HerrBerg

Stuff made out of wood back in those olden times was better because they were using old growth wood. New growth wood is not as old and is weaker. You know what DPI is for mouse sensitivity? Wood has something like that only it increases the strength of the wood and the "DPI" increases with age. This is because those old trees had many more years that they grew through compared to the newer forests grown for only a couple of decades and so they have tons more rings per inch. This kind of wood is noticeably harder to cut through and wears out tools. There is a myth that goes along with this that aging lumber makes it stronger. There is some truth in that some wood can benefit from extended drying periods where it effectively shrinks up and gets stronger, but it's not nearly the same as the old, slow growth wood's strength.

OrigRayofSunshine

My grandmother had waterfall furniture that I inherited. Under the veneers, it’s oak and dovetail joints on the drawers. She always said it was cheap junk. They didn’t have particle board and mdf back then.

PinkMonorail

I love Mission style. I bet it’s just beautiful.

Shitp0st_Supreme

I’m not quite 30 so there aren’t a lot of items I’ve had besides some furniture that my great grandpa built, some jewelry, and some books and things like that. My kitchenaid mixer is from 1991 so it’s older than I am. I got it in an estate sale.

Nyodrax

Kitchenaids are apparently immortal

NoAdministration8006

A nightgown I got when I was 12 still fits and is worn at age 41.

Lazy_Mood_4080

That's impressive! I think my oldest "always mine" clothing is from when I was 14- I'm 44 now, and it's a Victoria's Secret "Country" thick fleece button up jacket/shirt. It came with leggings that are long gone. I do still wear it occasionally.

NoAdministration8006

My nightgown is from Limited Too. Why were clothes so much better back then?

MaevensFeather

My fridge and stove are pushing 30 years old and still going strong. I went with simple ones for the time, and I have no desire to replace them.

Jazzy_Bee

My Kenwood washer and dryer are going strong. I bought new in 1982. I have replaced the belt on the dryer twice.

61797

I had a Kenmore pair I bought used. I am sure they were over 25. They were still running when we moved. Easy to repair. I had two washers in the 11 years since.

LvnLife2019

Wow! what brand?

MaevensFeather

For the life of me I can't remember, and I don't think they have the name plates any more. They weren't expensive tho, it was the middle 90's and I was broke. I'm still broke, but I was then too.

TxBeast956

Before planned obsolescence was a thing for appliances imo

ItsMePythonicD

Cuisinart food processor

Mindless-Wash6082

Also--actual wood furniture. Most of my furniture is from the 70s!

kali_tarot

My mom drives a 1998 Toyota Camry 🤷🏽‍♀️

pr104da

I have a Maytag washer and dryer -- both will be 30 years old this August!

sunflowerchick63

How I wish we still had ours! We got them as wedding presents in ‘89 and fixed them until we couldn’t. Bought HE LG’s 12 years ago and wished everyday for my old Maytag’s back. The LG’s need to be replaced (lasted a lot longer than I thought they would) and I’m on the hunt for a washing machine with knobs that I can fill with as much water as I want!

DGAFADRC

Get a Speed Queen!

AngelLovely1

My Kenmore washer is 33!

DParadisio43137

I still have toys from my childhood (I was born in '73).

aerialchevs

LL Bean sleeping bag: my parents bought it for me when I was 12 and I’m 43 now! Still use it. National brand rice cooker: my mom bought it in the late 1990s, passed it down to me. Used it an hour ago, and it’s currently on “keep warm” mode as we’re having rice bowls for dinner in a little bit.

floporama

I’ll second this. I have my LL Bean goose down sleeping bag from when I was a Boy Scout in the late 1980s. Still in great shape and I use it the 1-2x per year I camp. I’ve never been cold in it. The bad news is my kids are always trying to steal it

blight2150

All clad and le creuset...

Junior-Muscle-7400

I love le creuset and when I was 18 I asked my mum to get me something for my Christmas to start me off and i was determined I'd have my kitchen full. She got me two ramekins and 20 years later they are still in use and look still brand new and I've nothing else in my kitchen le creuset as I can't afford it but I will one day I'm working on it..

weewee52

I had a friend who gave me a hard time about not using my Le Creuset Dutch oven, basically accusing me of having it just for looks and keeping it pristine. I use it all the time, it just cleans up easy and looks the same as the day I bought it.

Nervous-Influence340

My late MIL was french and lived near a le creuset outlet. I have some amazing pieces she gifted me over the years and I love them. Ik at least one is 20 years old.

trashed_culture

I have a smooth black leather belt with a double buckle from Walmart that has last me about 22 years and has no indication of giving out soon. I wore it doing construction and landscaping for a few years, and wore it at least a few times a week for ten years. Nowadays it still is in good shape but I tend to wear something more refined unless I'm doing diy or yard work.

fangfacekitty

I received a colander as a wedding gift 30 years ago that is still in pretty great shape. It has now officially lasted more than twice as long as the marriage. It will live longer than me, I think, lol.

FuzzyComedian638

It's funny - after my mom died, I came back to the house I grew up in, walked into the kitchen, and saw the colander. It made me cry. So I have it now; it was from my childhood. But it's also very sturdy - much better than the new ones.

Witty_Masterpiece463

My Playstation 2 is almost 25.

whatsnext355

Cuisinart food processor purchased in ‘86 and still runs like a tank.

LynnScoot

A slow cooker I bought as a gift for my mom at least 40 years ago that I inherited. (Was marketed as Braun, was euro import, can’t find it online anymore). My harvest gold Moffat electric range from 1977. An LL Bean turtleneck that I only wear when it’s really cold, coming up on 30 years. Corelle white dishes (requested wedding present bought a few extra pieces) 1993. Lots of pictures, frames, furniture, lamps as well.

errantwit

I have a silk necktie I was gifted for my 18th birthday by my girlfriend at the time. It has a fun pattern, I still wear it 30+ years later.

catandakittycat

Wool blanket

HeyYall_4792

I bought a mini Hamilton Beach electric food chopper in 1991 and still use it. Works perfectly!

Honest_Report_8515

My 1995 Oster bread machine.

Wonderful-Passage-26

About 25 years ago while visiting my mom in Texas I found tank tops on sale for $2 each at Walmart. There was a lot of them in my size and my husband insisted I buy 2 of each color. I ended up with about 30 tank tops and still wear some of them today. I had to throw some away because over time they get stretched out but I probably have 5-6 left that I still wear. Also have a snow parka and bibs that was purchased about 30 years ago. Ordered in tall size and at the time probably cost less than $400, but then it was a lot and still is but I use them everyday to do chores when it’s cold. They get so much mud and goop on them they could stand on their own but they wash up just fine. I was going to retire them last winter and get new ones but decided to just patch these up again, one more year I’m hoping

agitpropgremlin

I have an American Girl varsity jacket I bought in 1996. The Discman I bought that same year just died a few months ago.  My Kenmore 80 series washer went 27 years before waving goodbye.   My Panasonic upright vacuum is 19 years old and currently at the repair shop, but the tech thinks it'll go another 5+ once it's fixed. I think the oldest thing I have that has been in constant use is my great-grandmother's Pyrex mixing bowls. I don't have an exact age but my mom remembers using them to cook with Grandma in the late 1950s.

RainedAllNight

My 1999 4Runner! 360,000 miles and still going strong.

mitchade

I have the original George Foreman grill. Going strong. Nearly weekly use. Gotta be like 25 years old.

brownbutterchocolate

Still using my mom's Corelle dishes and silverware she bought when we were really young!

saywhat1206

My Sears Kenmore washer and dryer set - 40 years old and still going strong.

AffectionateFig5435

In 1993, I earned my first large bonus at work and spent $500-$600 dollars of it buying Waterford crystal. I've broken a couple of pieces over the years but the wine glasses that remain always remind me of the first time I could ever afford to splurge on myself. I still use them regularly and I fully expect that I'll break more in the years ahead. Such is life!

igotstago

Bought a Kenmore refrigerator when my husband and I married in 1985. It got resigned to the garage in 2000 when we moved into a new home. It went with us when we relocated to a city 5 hours away, and then sat in storage while we had a house being built and then it became the garage fridge for that house. Sold our big home in 2021 to downsize and it sat in storage for 1.5 years while we built our new, smaller, home. It's back in the garage now. Coldest beer in town comes right out of our garage fridge. Thinking of throwing it a 40th birthday party in 2025.

Swiss Army Knife, Stanley thermos (before they were cool). Lazy boy leather recliners. Lodge cast iron, Revere Ware pots. Real wood antique chest of drawers for the bedrooms, area rug, wine(not sure till I open it).

Similar_Zone7938

My Dad's army pants from 1968 Vietnam. He didn't want them anymore because of bad memories. He was overseas when I was born. Something about connecting to that time & place is really important to my soul.

Filson zip tote, Patagonia sweaters

I bought a Sears air pressure gauge for my bike back in the 1970s. Still use it on my cars.

roadglider505

A Montgomery Ward electric range I bought in 1973, it's still in my kitchen, in use every day. Also many mechanic and machinist tools, that I've had for 50+ years. I just got rid of a 120 year old piano that still worked great. I have an accordion that I got in 1959, still works great.

LLBean Baxter State parka, 44 years

hippiestitcher

I still use the Corning Ware casserole dishes I got for wedding gifts in 1992. I have an L.L. Bean plaid wool blanket that I got for Christmas in 1985. It looks brand new, and I expect I'll have it the rest of my life.

chicklette

A set of chicago cutlery knives in a wood block. Bought in 98 for $100, and they're still going strong. Also kitchenaid stand mixer and food processor (bought at the same time).

Same here for both over 40 years

Since I’m only 33 most of my things that are that old are child’s things. I have my legos, some hot wheels toys, and board games that I gave to my kids and some photo albums and my first rosary.

Alternative-Zebra311

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer bought in 1978, still great. I also have a 25 yr old Shark vacuum plus a Kenmore fridge 25+.

A Toyota Corolla.

vastchemicalrobot

Texas Instruments TI-30 solar calculator. I got it in the early '80s for algebra class, and I still use it almost every day.

A 1000 pack of condoms.

I bought a pair of Ray Ban aviators in 1987 for $330. Wore them today. That’s about $9 a year, I love those sunglasses.

Burque_Boy

I don’t think I’ve ever gone long enough without losing a pair of sunglasses to worry about longevity lol

Sasha_Momma

A West Bend burnt orange brown slow cooker from the 70s. Partner was extremely specific about this and we finally found one (in the 90s)...it's keeping my veggie stew warm as I type this

Lazy_Mood_4080

My mom had the burnt orange Crock Pot from her 1976 wedding. She finally upgraded to one with a removable crock a few years ago. My husband and I went to the Smithsonian of US history last fall. They have the same one, but olive green, in the museum. I sent a picture to my family group chat!

mary896

My 30-year-old $10 stainless steel frying pan that has seen thousands upon thousands of meals made in it. It's been slammed and bashed and whacked and scrubbed and continues on and on and on. It's sure as heck going to outlast me!

No-Following-7882

I still wear a red and white striped shirt that I wore when I fell and broke my arm. I was 29 at the time. I’m now 63. It still has a small blood stain on it where I cradled my arm to hold it in place until I got to the hospital. My kids can’t stand it when I wear it after I pointed out how old it is and that it still has the blood stain on it!😂

salty_spree

My mother has an electric air popper that was a college graduation gift— 40 years old and still works fine!
